Аннотация: A novel single-phase white light emitting phosphor Ca9La(PO4)5(SiO4)F2:Dy3+ was prepared through traditional high-temperature solid state technology. The crystal structures of Ca9La(PO4)5(SiO4)F2 with or without Dy3+ ions were refined by the Rietveld method. The diffuse reflection spectra, excitation spectra, emission spectra, and decay times were characterized to investigate the photoluminescence properties for application in white light-emitting diodes. The results showed that the Ca9La(PO4)5(SiO4)F2:Dy3+ phosphor could efficiently assimilate n-UV light and emit blue (∼485 nm) and yellow light (∼580 nm), originating from the f-f transitions of Dy3+. The critical Dy3+ quenching concentration (QC) was determined to be about 15 mol%, and the corresponding QC mechanism was verified to be the dipole-dipole interaction. Additionally, the emission colors of all samples were located close to the ideal white light region, and the optimal chromaticity coordinates and correlated color temperature (CCT) were determined to be (x = 0.338, y = 0.336) and 5262 K. All the above results indicate that the as-prepared Ca9La(PO4)5(SiO4)F2:Dy3+ phosphor could serve as a promising candidate for white-light n-UV-LEDs. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2016.

Аннотация: A study is reported of the structural, magnetic, and magneto-optic properties of Mn/Dy/Bi films obtained by multilayer technology. The maximum Kerr rotation angle in such films is shown to be theta(k) = 2.25 degrees. Possible reasons for such a large Kerr effect enhancement are considered, namely, an increase in the 6p - 3d transition probability caused by symmetry distortion, polarization of the Bi6p band, and a change in the density of states near the Fermi level. The latter reason has been analyzed by simulating the electronic structure of Mn/Dy/Bi through superposition of Dy levels on the MnBi band structure. This approach has revealed possible additional transitions which may be induced by the presence of a Dy buffer and could contribute to the Kerr magneto-optic effect. Аннотация: The effect of replacing Nd3+ ions with Dy3+ ions on the resonance properties of Nd0.75Dy0.25Fe3(BO3)(4) is studied. The antiferromagnetic resonance (AFMR) method is used to detect an easy axis-easy plane magnetic spin-reorientation phase transition owing to competing exchange interactions of Nd-Fe and Dy-Fe, and the frequency-field dependence of the AFMR spectrum before and after the phase transition is studied. At 4.2 K, the detected resonance spectra in the H parallel to c direction are AFMR modes of iron, and their frequency-field dependences correspond to easy-axis (H 15 kOe) and easy-plane (H 16 kOe) magnetic structures with magnon excitation energy gaps of 77.2 and 100.3 GHz, respectively. The effective magnetic anisotropies responsible for these gaps are 0.7 and 1.2 kOe, respectively. Substitution by Dy3+ ions in crystalline Nd0.75Dy0.25Fe3(BO3)(4) in the paramagnetic region produces an additional static internal field owing to polarization, which leads to a shift in the resonance field of the EPR absorption line and a change in the g-factor of the Fe3+ ions. Аннотация: Sintered (Pr, Dy)–(Fe1 – yCoy)–B materials with up to y ≈ 0.5 atomic fractions have been studied. Boron is found to be a movable element, and its diffusion between principal magnetic phase A and other boron containing phases determines the properties of the materials. The structure of principal magnetic phase grains is sufficiently complex: their periphery is enriched in boron. The enrichment is shown to cause a decrease in the coercive force of the materials to zero after sintering.

Аннотация: In this paper, a series of novel luminescent Sr1−xAl12O19:xEu2+ phosphors were synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction. The phase structure, photoluminescence (PL) properties, as well as the decay curves were investigated. The quenching concentration of Eu2+ in SrAl12O19 was about 0.15 (mol). Upon excitation at 378 nm, the composition-optimized Sr0.85Al12O19:0.15Eu2+ exhibited strong broad-band green emission at 530 nm with the CIE chromaticity (0.2917, 0.5736). The results indicate that Sr1−xAl12O19:xEu2+ phosphors have potential applications as green-emitting phosphors for UV-pumped white-light LEDs.

Аннотация: In this work, the magnetoelectric response in a series of Dy1−xHoxMnO3 crystals with substitution x from 0 to 0.4 was investigated. The measurement results showed that, as x increases, a decrease in both the polarization Pa and the magnitude of the susceptibility of the inverse magnetoelectric effect αba is observed. In addition, the field Hb increases, at which the Pc → Pa transition is observed, and the temperature range of the existence of the magnetoelectric response decreases. Thus, an increase in the substitution x suppresses the magnetoelectric effect in this series of compounds. The measurement results also indirectly indicate the prolongation of the Pa state and, consequently, of the magnetic state with a cycloid lying in the ab-plane by an external electric field Ea.

Аннотация: The effect of copper on the properties of magnets (Pr0.52Dy0.48)13(Fe65Co0.35)80.3 - xCuxB6.7 (x = 0-10) has been studied. Alloying with copper is shown to decrease the sintering temperature and to increase the content of the principal (Pr,Dy)2(Fe,Co)14B magnetic phase. For compositions with x = 1.3-3.3, copper is found to affect the value and sign of the temperature induction coefficient (TIC). It is shown that the effect of copper on the TIC is determined by the substitution of copper ions for iron ions in lattice sites, which are coupled via an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: The effect of copper on the temperature dependence of the magnetization of sintered (Pr0.52Dy0.48)13(Fe0.65Co0.35)balCu x B7 materials with x = 0–6.3 at % has been studied in the temperature range from −60 to +80°C. Copper is made a part of composition at the stage of powder processing. It was found that the temperature dependences of magnetization for compositions with x = 0, 1.3, 2.1, and 6.3 at % are characterized by a maximum. The maximum deviation of the maximum magnetization from the magnetization at −60°C does not exceed 5.5%.

Аннотация: Magnetic and thermodynamic properties of perovskite Gd0.2Sr0.8CoO3−δ, with ordered and disordered states of Gd and Sr in the A-sites of the crystal lattice have been studied revealing remarkable differences in the physical properties of the ordered and disordered states. The ordered samples have larger oxygen nonstoichiometry, heat capacity, and thermal expansion anomalies, and abnormal temperature dependence of the magnetization around 350 K.

Аннотация: This paper reports on the results of investigations into the temperature and spectral dependences of the magnetic circular dichroism in Dy1-xNix-Ni bilayer films prepared through thermal sputter deposition of components under ultrahigh vacuum. The distribution of the components over the layer thickness is examined by Auger spectroscopy. The nickel content x in Dy1-xNix layers varies from 0.005 to 0.06. It is shown that, in the temperature range 80-300 K, the contribution made to the magnetic circular dichroism by a Dy1-xNix layer in a bilayer film with a nickel content higher than the threshold value is approximately equal to the magnetic circular dichroism observed in an isolated Dy1-xNix film at temperatures below the temperature of the phase transition to a ferromagnetic state (similar to100 K). This phenomenon is explained by magnetic ordering in theDy(1-x)Ni(x) layer of the bilayer film due to the combined effect of two factors, namely, the incorporation of nickel into a dysprosium layer and the presence of a continuous nickel sublayer in the film. Аннотация: An increase in the cobalt concentration in Pr-Dy-Fe-Co-B alloys leads to the substitution of Co atoms for Fe atoms in the atomic positions, which are the nearest neighbors with the rare-earth metal atoms, and to the formation of a significant number of boron-rich phases. At the highest (limiting) cobalt concentrations, boron can be substituted for the transition metals. As a result, the exchange interaction between magnetic sublattices of the rare-earth and transition metals is weakened. In turn, this leads to a decrease in the contribution from the rare-earth ions to the magnetic anisotropy, the temperature stability of which increases.

Аннотация: The standing spin wave spectra of Ni0.8Fe0.2(1000-3000 Angstrom)/(Dy1-xCox (700 Angstrom) bilayer exchange-biased films with two different (precompensation Dy0.2Co0.8 and postcompensation Dy0.3Co0.7) compositions of the hard magnetic layer are analyzed. Measurements are performed at room temperature. It is found that the effective magnetic layer thickness (d(eff) = d(0) +/- Deltad), which determines the wave vectors of the first modes in the spectrum, differs from the d(0) value specified in film technology. The sign of \Deltad\ similar to 500 Angstrom is governed by the composition of the DyCo hard magnetic layer. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The synthesis of a layered Ln2(OH)4SO4·nH2O material (Ln-241) with a smaller lanthanide ion (Dy3+) was successfully achieved through the optimization of the hydrothermal conditions, and the effect of lanthanide contraction on the chemical composition, phase structure, and crystallite/particle morphology of the products was investigated and discussed. Structure refinement showed that the lattice parameters (a, b, and c), cell volume, and axis angle across the series (Ln = La-Dy) monotonously decrease as the size of Ln3+ decreases. Comparative TG/DTA analysis in air indicated that the dehydroxylation temperature of Ln-241 tends to increase, whereas the dehydration and desulfurization temperatures decrease as the size of Ln3+ decreases, thus narrowing the stable temperature range for Ln2O2SO4. Taking advantage of the fact that Ln-241 has exactly the same Ln/S molar ratio as Ln2O2SO4 and Ln2O2S, the latter two groups of important compounds (excluding Ce) were facilely transformed from the former via the removal of water by calcination. The photoluminescence properties of Eu3+ and Tb3+, in terms of excitation, emission, fluorescence decay, quantum yield, and emission color, were investigated and compared for the two hosts Gd2O2S and Gd2O2SO4, and the (Gd0.99Tb0.01)2O2S phosphor was shown to be stable under electron beam irradiation in the studied range and exhibited an increasingly higher emission brightness as the acceleration voltage (up to 7 kV) or beam current (up to 50 μA) increased.

Аннотация: The light degradation of WLED devices after long-time use has been proved to be mainly caused by thermal quenching of phosphors, therefore, the design of single-component white-light emitting phosphors with high thermal stability remains a huge challenge. A novel single-phase white light-emitting phosphor Ca8MgLu(PO4)7:Tm3+,Dy3+ was designed and prepared in this work. The photoluminescent results show that white light emission from the phosphor can be achieved by controlling the ratio of Tm3+ and Dy3+ to adjust the relative intensity of the emission at 451 nm of Tm3+ and the emissions at 488, 571 and 660 nm of Dy3+. The luminescence decay results reveal that there is energy transfer from Tm3+ to Dy3+ in Ca8MgLu(PO4)7:Tm3+,Dy3+ and the efficiency of energy transfer between the two dopants reaches as much as 55%. Temperature-dependent luminescent analyses suggest the highly stable emission of Ca8MgLu0.76(PO4)7:0.12Tm3+,0.12Dy3+ as the integrated emission intensity of the phosphor at 475 K reduces only about 13% of that at room temperature, which is due to the back-energy-transfer from highly doped Dy3+ to Tm3+ that compensates the luminescence energy. This single-phase white-light emitting phosphor exhibits superior color and luminescence stability and thus may find a potential application in WLEDs.

Аннотация: The absorption and magnetic circular dichroism spectra of f-f transitions (6)H(15/2) -> (6)F(3/2), (6)F(5/2), (6)(F(7/2) + H(5/2)) and (6)(F(9/2) + H(7/2)) in Dy(3+) ion were studied in the glasses: Dy(2)O(3)-P(2)O(5)-SiO(2)-GeO(2) and Dy(2)O(3)-La(2)O(3)-Al(2)O(3)-B(2)O(3)-SiO(2)-GeO(2) with different concentrations of Dy(3+) ions in temperature range 100-300 K. :Basing on this data, absolute values and temperature dependences of the paramagnetic magneto-optical activity (MOA) of the transitions were determined. The origin of the MOA of f-f transitions was analyzed with the help of two models. In the first model, MOA is considered as a consequence of admixture of states with opposite parity by odd components of crystal field. The second approach is based on the Judd-Ofelt theory. The same f-f transitions reveal different values and temperature dependences in different glasses, what testifies to a different symmetry of the nearest environment of Dy(3+) ions in these glasses.
