Аннотация: Different degree of structural disorder is one of the main features of many fluoro- and oxyfluorometallates crystallizing in high symmetry structures. The comprehensive study of these compounds (perovskites, elpasolites, pyrochlores, etc.) enabled to determine a great effect of the size and shape as well as crystallographic sites of cationic and anionic species on the mechanism of structural ordering. Ferroelastic and ferroelectric phase transitions of different order, type, and succession can be realized as a result of chemical and hydrostatic pressure change. It was found that the substitution of monoatomic cations for tetrahedral ammonium group was accompanied by rather significant change of electron density distribution, entropy, and phase diagrams. Some compounds studied were considered to be promising solid-state refrigerants owing to the pronounced barocaloric effect resulting from large entropy and baric coefficient of phase transitions.

Аннотация: The multielectron LDA+GTB approach has been developed to calculate electronic structure of strongly correlated cuprates. At low energies the effective Hamiltonian of the t−t′−t"−t⊥−J∗−J⊥-model has been derived with parameters coming from the ab initio calculation for LSCO. The electronic structure of LSCO has been calculated self-consistently with the short-range antiferromagnetic order for various doping level. Two Lifshitz-type quantum phase transitions with Fermi surface topology changes have been found at dopings xc1=0.15 and xc2=0.24. Its effect on normal and superconducting properties has been calculated. The interatomic exchange parameter and its pressure dependence has been calculated within LDA+GTB scheme. The magnetic mechanisms of d-wave pairing induced by static and dynamical spin correlations are discussed. Simultaneous treatment of magnetic and phonon pairing results in the conclusion that both contributions are of the same order. For two layer cuprates like YBCO the interlayer hopping and exchange effects on the electronic structure and doping dependence of Tc is discussed as well as the Coulomb interaction induced mechanism of pairing.

Аннотация: Electronic structure and spin-related properties of CoI2/NiI2 heterostructure were studied by means of density functional theory. It was shown that the electronic structure at the Fermi level can be characterized by a band gap. The effect of the external electric field on charge transfer and electronic properties of the CoI2/NiI2 interface was investigated, and it was found that band gap width depends on the strength of the applied electric field, switching its nature from semiconducting to a half-metallic one. An easy control of the electronic properties and promising spin-polarized nature of the CoI2/NiI2 spinterface allows the heterostructure to be used in spin-related applications.

Аннотация: The spinel cobalt oxide Co3O4 is an antiferromagnetic semiconductor containing two non-equivalent Co2+ and Co3+ cobalt ions with different local environments and different magnetic moments. We have performed ab initio study and comparison of the electronic, magnetic and optical properties of Co3O4 within GGA, GGA + U, and G0W0 approximations. GGA correctly predicts Co3O4 to be a semiconductor, but severely underestimates the bandgap. G0W0 approximations increase the bandgap indicating a better description of the cobalt localized d-states. The spectral weights of the bands near Fermi energy are about 0.5. Ab initio calculations confirm that the low-spin state of Co3+ ion arises due to the local environment and the crystal effect field. The investigation of the pressure dependencies of magnetic properties revealed the appearance of Co3+ ion abrupt transition from low-spin state to high-spin state under tensile pressure. This allows manipulating the spin state of Co3+ ions through the pressure or strain.

Аннотация: We report a comprehensive study of physical properties of the binary superconductor compound SnAs. The electronic band structure of SnAs was investigated using both angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) in a wide binding energy range and density functional theory (DFT) within generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The DFT/GGA calculations were done including spin-orbit coupling for both bulk and (111) slab crystal structures. Comparison of the DFT/GGA band dispersions with ARPES data shows that the spectrum for the (111) slab much better describes ARPES data than that for the bulk. In addition, we studied experimentally superconducting properties of SnAs by specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, magnetotransport measurements, and Andreev reflection spectroscopy. Temperature dependencies of the superconducting gap and of the specific heat were found to be well consistent with those expected for the single band BCS superconductors with an isotropic s-wave order parameter. Despite spin-orbit coupling present in SnAs, our data show no signatures of a potential unconventional superconductivity, and the characteristic BCS ratio 2Δ/Tc=3.48–3.73 is very close to the BCS value in the weak coupling limit.

Аннотация: A new method for observation of ferromagnetic resonance spectra is demonstrated. Its operation based on the registering a damping pole in the frequency response of two-resonator microstrip structure containing a sample under investigation. A damping pole arises due to mutual compensation of capacitive (electric) and inductive (magnetic) interactions between the resonators and this compensation get broken in the ferromagnetic resonance.

Аннотация: In search of new nonlinear optical crystals for the mid-IR range, we grew single crystals of LiGa0.55In0.45Te2 (LGITe) of optical quality; its structure was established, and the spectroscopic properties were studied. LGITe crystallizes in a tetragonal chalcopyrite-like (I4̅2d) structure at 667 ± 5 °C. Crystals are transparent in the 0.76–14.8 μm spectral region with some absorption bands related to OH/H2O and Ge–O vibrations. Analysis of the Tauc plots showed that LGITe is a direct band gap semiconductor with the band gap Eg = 1.837 eV at 300 K. The Raman spectrum for LGITe is very similar to that for LiGaTe2: the most intense band A1 near 120 cm–1 corresponds to the Li–Te vibration. DFT calculations were carried out for the first time to simulate the energy band structure (band gap ∼1.67 eV), density of states (DOS), birefringence (0.049 at 2 μm), and nonlinear susceptibility (d14 = d36 = −48.73 pm/V). For ternary LiInTe2 these parameters are Δn = 0.007 and d14 = d36 = −61.4 pm/V, respectively. The calculated optical properties indicate that LiGa0.55In0.45Te2 is a promising mid-IR nonlinear optical crystal with nonlinear parameters higher than those of LiGaTe2.

Аннотация: The features of electronic structure of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 Pr0.8Sr0.2MnO3, and Pr0.6Sr0.4MnO3 polycrystalline films of different thickness have been investigated using magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) in the range of 1.1–4.2 eV. The temperature behavior of the samples electrical resistance were also has been studied. It was found that films with high Sr content (0.3 and 0.4) act as high-temperature semiconductors, while the maximum in the temperature dependences of resistivity these films indicates the transition of the samples to the metallic state at some temperature TM-S, which is different for different sample thickness. The films with the lower Sr content (0.2) act as insulators in the used temperature range. The MCD spectra have been decomposed to the Gaussian-shaped lines, and the temperature dependence of intensity of each line has been analyzed in comparison with temperature dependence of the films magnetization and with their electric conductivity type. Different temperature behavior of the intensity of four specified Gaussian-lines was revealed for semiconductor films. In the case of insulating Pr0.8Sr0.2MnO3 samples, the intensity of three specified Gaussian lines changes with the temperature in the same way as the magnetization changed. It was established that the lanthanide (La, Pr) type does not affect the MCD spectra shape for the films with the same electrical conductivity type. Besides, the correlation between the MCD data of the films and their conductivity type was revealed. Due to the detailed analysis of the specified Gaussian lines with taking into account the well-known in the literature absorption bands, lying outside the studied spectral region, the MCD bands for the studied manganite films have been identified with electronic transitions of a different nature.

Аннотация: Non-rare earth doped oxides with red emission are one of the current research hotspots for achieving the warm white light range in the phosphor converted white light emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs) field. In the current work, a novel Mn4+-activated La2CaHfO6 red phosphor is reported for the first time and its crystal structure is analyzed by Rietveld refinement. The photoluminescent properties of La2CaHfO6:Mn4+ are investigated in detail with the help of diffuse refletance spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and temperature-dependent PL spectroscopy. Based on the diffuse refletance spectra, the calculated optical band gap for La2CaHfO6 is 4.9 eV, indicating that La2CaHfO6 could be a suitable host for activators' doping. Under 380 nm near-ultraviolet (n-UV) light excitation, the as-prepared La2CaHfO6:Mn4+ displays intense red emission centered at 693 nm. Through an accurate calculation of Dq/B (2.47) and nephelauxetic effect β1 (0.949), the origination of strong crystal field (CF) and deep-red emission is demonstrated. By combining the representative La2CaHfO6:0.002Mn4+, blue BAM:Eu2+, and green (Ba,Sr)2SiO4:Eu2+ phosphors with a 380 nm UV chip to fabricate the pc-WLEDs device, a white light is obtained with low correlated color temperature (CCT = 5165 K) and high color rendering index (Ra = 87.8), demonstrating that the as-prepared La2CaHfO6:Mn4+ phosphors can be used as red-emitting candidate in pc-WLEDs lighting.
