Аннотация: The transport properties of the two phases composites based on Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 (YBCO) and Y-3(Al1-xFex)(5)O-12 (X = 0-0... 1.0) have been studied to investigate the effect of magnetic ordering in garnet on superconducting properties of the composites. The composites represent network of Josephson junctions where the non-superconducting ingredient (garnet) acts as barriers separating YBCO grains. It is found that magneto-active ions (Fe) in garnet are responsible for an additional suppression of Josephson coupling in the composites. At some critical concentration of Fe atoms full suppression of super current is observed in a temperature range from T-C of YBCO grains down to the characteristic temperature T,,,. This behavior is attributed to the interaction of super current carriers with spins of Fe atoms located in the barriers. The crossover from S-I-S (S-superconductor, I-insulator) to S-F-S (F-ferrimagnet) junctions is observed in the compdsites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 + Y-3(Al1-xFex)(5)O-12 with x increase. Аннотация: We present the results of an in-plane resistivity study of the solid solutions Fe1-xVxBO3. The measurements were made on single crystals with concentration x = 0.02, 0.13, 0.18, 0.3, 0.95, 1.0 in the temperature range 220-600 K. Semiconducting behaviour for samples with x = 0.13 was found. Mott variable-range-hopping transport rho(T) = rho(0)exp(T*/T)(alpha) has been observed with alpha = 1/4 at T 290 K, suggesting carrier localization. Above this temperature the activation-type conductivity, with activation energies, E-a, about 1 eV for all samples, is observed. The possible electronic states and band structure of Fe1-xVx BO3 crystals are discussed in the different pressure ranges: P P-c(Fe), p(c)(Fe) p p(c)(V) P P-c(V) where p(c)(Fe) P-c(V) are the critical pressure values for FeBO3 and VBO3, respectively.

Аннотация: The PbMn1−xFexBO4 (x ≈ 0.1) orthoborate single crystals have been grown for the first time by spontaneous crystallization and their magnetic and resonance properties and specific heat have been examined. It has been established that partial substitution of iron ions for manganese ones leads to an increase in the Curie temperature to 34.2 K from its value of 30.3 K in the unsubstituted crystal, enhances the magnetic anisotropy, and reduces the saturation magnetization. The magnetization drop is explained in the framework of the model of a ferrimagnetic-like structure, in which the magnetic moments of iron and manganese ions form ferromagnetic subsystems coupled by the antiferromagnetic exchange. It has been found that under magnetization along the rhombic b axis the magnetic moments switch stepwise to the magnetic field direction in a certain critical field. The spin-reorientation transition is the first-order one. This feature of the crystal magnetization does not allow the experimental ferromagnetic resonance frequency-field dependence for the rhombic b axis to be described using the calculation for a simple rhombic ferromagnet. It has been established that the increase in the magnetic anisotropy of the crystal upon substitution leads to an increase in the energy gap in the ferromagnetic resonance spectrum to 121.5 GHz at T = 4.2 K.

Аннотация: In antiferromagnetic (AFM) nanoparticles, an additional ferromagnetic phase forms and leads to the appearance in AFM nanoparticles of a noncompensated magnetic moment and the magnetic properties typical of common FM nanoparticles. In this work, to reveal the regularities and differences of the dynamic magnetization switching in FM and AFM nanoparticles, the typical representatives of such materials are studied: CoFe2O4 and NiO nanoparticles with average sizes 6 and 8 nm, respectively. The high fields of the irreversible behavior of the magnetizations of these samples determine the necessity of using strong pulsed fields (amplitude to 130 kOe) to eliminate the effect of the partial hysteresis loop when studying the dynamic magnetic hysteresis. For both types of the samples, coercive force HC at the dynamic magnetization switching is markedly higher than HC at quasi-static conditions. HC increases as the pulse duration τP decreases and the maximum applied field H0 increases. The dependence of HC on field variation rate dH/dt = H0/2τP is a unambiguous function for CoFe2O4 nanoparticles, and it is precisely such a behavior is expected from a system of single-domain FM nanoparticles. At the same time, for AFM NiO nanoparticles, the coercive force is no longer an unambiguous function of dH/dt, and the value of applied field H0 influences more substantially. Such a difference in the behaviors of FM and AFM nanoparticles is caused by the interaction of the FM subsystem and the AFM “core” inside AFM nanoparticles. This circumstance should be taken into account when developing the theory of dynamic hysteresis of the AFM nanoparticles and also to take into account their practical application.

Аннотация: Ludwigites is a type of oxyborates compounds with BO3 groups, which have low-dimensional elements: stairs, zigzag walls, tapes. Such structural features influence on the physical properties of the compounds and cause charge ordering, the existence of two magnetic subsystems, ordered at different temperatures in the perpendicular direction, the quasi-one-dimensional magnetism, spin-glass state.
