Аннотация: Tuning and optimizing luminescent properties of oxonitridosilicates phosphors are important for white light-emitting diode (WLED) applications. To improve the color rendering index, correlated color temperature and thermal stability of layer-structured MSi2O2N2:Eu (M = Sr, Ba) phosphors, cation substitutions have been used to adjust their luminescent properties. However, the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. In this research, a series of (Sr1-xBax)Si2O2N2:Eu (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) compounds were prepared by solid-state reaction, after which systematic emission variations were investigated. The crystal structures of (Sr1-xBax)Si2O2N2:Eu (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) are nominally divided into three sections, namely, Phase 1 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.65), Phase 2 (0.65 x 0.80), and Phase 3 (0.80 ≤ x ≤ 1) based on the X-ray diffraction measurements. These experimental results are further confirmed by optimizing the crystal structure data with first-principle calculations. Continuous luminescence adjustments from green to yellow are observed in Phase 1 with gradual replacement of Sr2+ with Ba2+, and the abnormal redshift is clarified through extended X-ray absorption fine structure analysis. Sr(Eu)-O/N bond length shrinkage in local structure causes the redshift emission, and the corresponding luminescence mechanism is proposed. Controllable luminescence in Phase 2 (from blue to white) and Phase 3 (from cyan to yellowish green) are observed. Based on the high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected area electron diffraction analysis, the two kinds of luminescence tuning are attributed to phase segregation. This study serves as a guide in developing oxonitride luminescent materials with controllable optical properties based on variations in local coordination environments through cation substitutions.

Аннотация: A novel apatite phosphor Ca6La4(SiO4)2(PO4)4O2:Eu2+ was prepared by conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. Phase purity was examined by XRD and XPS analysis. The crystal structure information, such as space group, cell parameters and atomic coordinates, were refined by the Rietveld method, revealing that Eu2+ occupied the sites of Ca2+ ions. Moreover, low-temperature experiments, including low-temperature PL spectra and low-temperature decay curve, were used to prove the existence of two luminescence centers in Ca6La4(SiO4)2(PO4)4O2:Eu2+. With the increase in doping concentration of Eu2+, the emission wavelength shows a red shift from 498 nm to 510 nm, which is mainly caused by the increase in crystal-field splitting by Eu2+. The optimized concentration of Eu2+ was confirmed to be 0.01, the Rc was calculated to be 20.09 Å and the energy transfer between Eu2+ was demonstrated to be by exchange interaction. Moreover, good thermal stability has been proved by a temperature-dependence experiment; it shows that the phosphor can maintain 55% of emitting intensity at 150 °C compared to that at room temperature. Finally, the Ca6La4(SiO4)2(PO4)4O2:Eu2+ phosphor was fabricated with commercial red (CaAlSiN3:Eu2+) and blue (BAM:Eu2+) phosphor coating on a n-UV chip. This proves that this green phosphor has the potential to be used in a w-LED lamp.

Аннотация: This paper reports the development of new phosphors using the chemical unit cosubstituting solid solution design strategy. Starting from Lu3Al5O12, the Al3+-Al3+ couple in respective octahedral and tetrahedral coordination was simultaneously substituted by a Mg2+-Si4+ pair forming the Lu3(Al2-xMgx)(Al3-xSix)O12:Ce3+ (x = 0.5-2.0) series; as a result, the CeO8 polyhedrons were compressed and the emission got red-shifted from green to yellow together with the broadening. The evolution of, the unit cell, the local structural geometry as well as the optical properties of Ce3+ in these garnet creations, in response to the gradual Mg-Si substitution for Al-Al, were studied by combined techniques of structural refinement and luminescence measurements. The new composition Lu2.97Ce0.03Mg0.5Al4Si0.5O12 was comprehensively evaluated regarding its potential application in blue LED-driven solid state white lighting: the maximum emission is at 550 nm under ?ex = 450 nm; the internal and external quantum efficiencies can reach 85% and 49%, respectively; a 1-phosphor-converted wLED lamp fabricated using the as-prepared phosphor exhibits the luminous efficacy of 105 lm W-1, the correlated color temperature of 6164 K and the color rendering index (Ra) of 75.6. The new solid solution composition series is open for further optimization to enhance the competence for commercial consideration. © 2016 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Аннотация: The (Y,Ce)2BaAl4SiO12 phosphor, a garnet-structured blue-to-yellow color convertor for WLED, exhibits an interesting “microcrystal-glass powder” feature, which can be regarded as the 4th form for phosphor, in addition to the “ceramic powder phosphor”, the “single crystal phosphor” and the “glass-ceramic phosphor”. The structure exhibits luminescent microcrystals embedding in non-luminescent glass matrix: the spherical crystals are mainly arranged around the glass phase forming a “necklace” pattern, while the individual crystals show a “core-shell” architecture regarding the luminescence intensity variation. Further combining the phase evolution evidence evaluated by Rietveld refinement, we propose the formation mechanism for such unique morphology/structure as a two-stage process, including an initial nucleation by solid state reaction and following liquid-assisted crystal growth, instead of a precipitation-crystallization process.

Аннотация: To obtain white light-emitted diodes (wLEDs) with a low correlated color temperature (CCT) and a high color rendering index (CRI), red-emission is indispensable in their emission spectra. Herein, CaO:Ce3+,Li+,F- yellow phosphors with more red spectral component have been prepared via a high temperature solid-state reaction. As compared to the F- undoped samples, CaO:Ce3+,Li+,F- phosphor have lower critical doping concentration of Ce3+ and show stronger luminescence. At the critical concentration, a quantum efficiency of 66.4% and enhanced thermal and chemical stability were obtained in CaO:Ce3+,Li+,F-. Furthermore, a CaO:Ce3+,Li+,F--based phosphor-in-glass (PiG) using the red-emitting glass system with the composition of SiO2-Na2CO3-Al2O3-CaO:Eu3+ as the host material was constructed and used for high-power white LED applications. Such PiG samples with different phosphor doping concentrations can satisfy various light color demands and display higher reliability than the CaO:Ce3+,Li+,F- phosphor. An optimal PiG-based wLED exhibits color coordinates of (0.3769, 0.3386), a CCT of 3774 K, a CRI of 82.5 and a LE of 73.1 when the mass ratio of phosphor to glass matrix was 7:50 in PiG. Moreover, such PiG-based wLED also showed acceptable color stability under different drive currents. All the above results demonstrate that CaO:Ce3+,Li+,F- can be expected to be a potential alternative yellow phosphor for blue light excited PiG based warm wLEDs, particularly for high-power devices.

Ключевые слова (''Своб.индексиров.''): phosphor--plant growth--leds--energy transfer
Аннотация: Photosynthesis process is the basic for plant growth, which needs energy from the light. The pigments of chlorophyll a, b and bacteriochlorophyll are responsible for the absorption of light, in which blue, red and near-infrared (NIR) light directly or indirectly promote the plant growth and enhancement of nurtiments. It is important for plant to support absorbable light, and phosphhor-converted light emitting diodes (pc-LEDs) are low-cost, energy-saving and enviromental friendly devices for plant growth. To develop a phosphor with emission covering the blue, red and NIR, a series of phosphors Ba4Gd3Na3(PO4)6F2: Eu2+, Pr3+ with blue, red and NIR multi-emitting were prepared. Their emissions not only match well with the absorption spectra of pigments in the plant, but also could be excited by near ultraviolet (n-UV) LED chip. The crystal structure of host Ba4Gd3Na3(PO4)6F2 was refined from the XRD data and three different crystallographic sites occupied by Eu2+ were determined through low temperature photoluminescence spectra. The energy transfer from Eu2+ to Pr3+ ions was also discussed in detail. Results indicated that the multi-emitting Ba4Gd3Na3(PO4)6F2: Eu2+, Pr3+ can serve as a phosphor candidate for plant growth LEDs.

Аннотация: Solid-state phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs) are currently revolutionizing the lighting industry. To advance the technology, phosphors with high efficiency, tunable photoluminescence, and high thermal stability are required. Here, we demonstrate that a simple lithium incorporation in NaAlSiO4:Eu system enables the simultaneous fulfillment of the three criteria. The Li substitution at Al sites beside Na sites in NaAlSiO4:Eu leads to an enhanced emission intensity/efficiency owing to an effective Eu3+ to Eu2+ reduction, an emission color tuning from yellow to green by tuning the occupation of different Eu sites, and an improvement of luminescence thermal stability as a result of the interplaywith Li-related defects. A pc-WLED using the Li-codoped NaAlSiO4:Eu as a green component exhibits improved performance. The phosphorswithmultiple activator sites can facilitate the positive synergistic effect on luminescence properties.

Аннотация: The red emission with suitable peak wavelength and narrow band is acutely required for high color rendering index (CRI) white LEDs without at the cost of the luminous efficacy. Herein, the Li2Ca2Mg2Si2N6:Eu2+ red phosphor was prepared with facile solid‐state method using Ca3N2, Mg3N2, Si3N4, Li3N, and Eu2O3 as the safety raw materials under atmospheric pressure for the first time, which shows red emission peaking at 638 nm with full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 62 nm under blue light irradiation and becomes the desired red phosphor to realize the balance between luminous efficacy and high CRI in white LEDs. The morphology, structure, luminescence properties, thermal quenching behavior, and chromaticity stability of the Li2Ca2Mg2Si2N6:Eu2+ phosphor are investigated in detail. Concentration quenching occurs when the Eu2+ content exceeds 1.0 mol%, whereas high‐temperature photoluminescent measurements show a 32% drop from the room‐temperature efficiency at 423 K. In view of the excellent luminescence performances of Li2Ca2Mg2Si2N6:Eu2+ phosphor, a white LEDs with CRI of 91 as a proof‐of‐concept experiment was fabricated by coating the title phosphor with Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ on a blue LED chip. In addition, the potential application of the title phosphor in plant growth LED device was also demonstrated. All the results indicate that Li2Ca2Mg2Si2N6:Eu2+ is a promising red‐emitting phosphor for blue LED‐based high CRI white LEDs and plant growth lighting sources.

Аннотация: Phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are currently playing key roles in the lighting and display industries and trigger urgent demands for the discovery of “good” phosphors with high quantum efficiency, improved thermal stability, and controllable excitation/emission properties. Herein, a general and efficient heterovalent substitution strategy is demonstrated in K2HfSi3O9:Eu2+ achieved by Ln3+ (Ln = Gd, Tb, Dy, Tm, Yb, and Lu) doping to optimize luminescence properties, and as an example, the Lu3+ substitution leads to improvement of emission intensity and thermal stability, as well as tunable emission color from blue to cyan. The structural stability and Eu2+ occupation via Lu3+ doping have been revealed by the structural elaboration and density functional theory calculations, respectively. It is shown that heterovalent substitution allows predictive control of site preference of luminescent centers and therefore provides a new method to optimize the solid-state phosphors for LEDs.
