Аннотация: Perovskite-based nanocomposites have garnered significant interests due to their potential in interfacial engineering, optical modification, and stability enhancement. However, current understanding of the construction models between perovskites and guest materials is limited, and the design concept of perovskite-based nanocomposites remains unclear. Herein, we thoroughly investigate the effects of amino bridge linkage in attapulgite@perovskite nanocomposites on the crystallization kinetics, optical properties, and stabilities of perovskites by monitoring the difference in structural, compositional, and morphological characteristics. The attapulgite@perovskite nanocomposite with amino bridge linkage exhibited a smaller average size distribution of 23.8 ± 5.8 nm, along with enhanced thermal stability (81% relative PL intensity after a heating-cooling cycle) and photo-stability (84% relative PL intensity after 30 h ultraviolet light irradiation). These improvements can be attributed to the adequate passivation of amino bridge linkages. Our work aims to provide a deeper understanding of perovskite-based nanocomposite construction and inspire new approaches for modifying their optical properties and enhancing their stability.

Аннотация: The interaction between carbon and BN nanotubes (NT) and transition metal Co and Ni supports was studied using electronic structure calculations. Several configurations of interfaces were considered, and the most stable ones were used for electronic structure analysis. All NT/Co interfaces were found to be more energetically favorable than NT/Ni, and conductive carbon nanotubes demonstrate slightly stronger bonding than semiconducting ones. The presence of contact-induced spin polarization was established for all nanocomposites. It was found that the contact-induced polarization of BNNT leads to the appearance of local conductivity in the vicinity of the interface while the rest of the nanotube lattice remains to be insulating. Аннотация: Atomic and electronic structure of graphene/Ni(111), h-BN/Ni(111) and graphene/h-BN/Ni(111) nanocomposites with different numbers of graphene and h-BN layers and in different mutual arrangements of graphene/Ni and h-BN/Ni at the interfaces was studied using LDA/PBC/PW technique. Using the same technique corresponding graphene, h-BN and graphene/h-BN structures without the Ni plate were calculated for the sake of comparison. It was suggested that C-top:C-fcc and N-top:B-fcc configurations are energetically favorable for the graphene/Ni and h-BN/Ni interfaces, respectively. The Ni plate was found to induce a significant degree of spin polarization in graphene and h-BN through exchange interactions of the electronic states located on different fragments. Аннотация: The structure and magnetic properties of CoPt–Al2O3 nanocomposite films synthesized by the annealing of Al/(Co3O4 + Pt) bilayers on a MgO(001) substrate at 650°C in vacuum are investigated. The synthesized composite films contain ferromagnetic CoPt grains with an average size of 25–45 nm enclosed in a nonconducting Al2O3 matrix. The saturation magnetization (Ms ~ 330 G) and coercivity (Hc ≈ 6 kOe) of the films are measured in the film plane and perpendicular to it. The obtained films are characterized by a spatial rotational magnetic anisotropy, which makes it possible to arbitrarily set the easy magnetization axis in the film plane or perpendicular to it using a magnetic field stronger than the coercivity (H ˃ Hc).

The analysis of transmittance and reflectance of the one-dimensional photonic crystals composed of monolayers is carried out. The formation of the photonic band gaps is analyzed.

Аннотация: The effect of the residual catalyst for the synthesis of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the electrophysical properties of MWCNT-polyethylene composites produced by melt mechanical mixing was studied. The residual catalyst content was varied by changing the MWCNTs synthesis time. The nanotubes used in the work were characterized using transmission and scanning electron microscopy, atomic emission analysis, X-ray phase analysis, and magnetic permeability measurements. The structure of the synthesized composites was studied using optical and scanning electron microscopy. The dependences of the specific magnetization on the applied magnetic field, bulk electrical conductivity on the volumetric content of the filler in the composite, and the frequency dependences of the reflection, transmission, and absorption of electromagnetic radiation in the range 0.01-18 GHz were obtained. It was established that the obtained composites are characterized by a uniform distribution of nanotubes in the polymer matrix, and the dependence of the bulk electrical conductivity on the content of MWCNTs in the composite has a percolation character. Variation in the synthesis time of nanotubes allows producing MWCNTs with a high content of ferromagnetic particles, which are an alloy close in stoichiometry to the composition of the active component of the catalyst. It was shown that the use of composites modified with MWCNTs with a high content of residual catalyst is more effective for absorbing electromagnetic radiation due to an increase in their magnetic losses.

Аннотация: The properties of Co-SiO2 nanogranular composite films, containing a Co volume fraction ranging from 0.3 to 0.8, have been characterized by means of magnetic measurements, NMR study, and ferromagnetic resonance. Thermal decrease of CoX(SiO2)100-X magnetization follows the T3/2 law and allows to estimate the exchange interaction constant A. With growing nominal Co content the transitions from granular to continuous structural state at 36% Co are registered by FMR measurements. The spectrum of standing spin-wave has been detected in the perpendicular experiment configuration for films with the Co content above 52 vol. %. It is found that the type of the dispersion relation of spin waves in Co-SiO2 composite films is affected by the exchange coupling fluctuations.

Аннотация: The magnetization correlation function for two-phase one-dimentional chain of the ferromagnetic exchange-coupled nanoparticles with a random anisotropy was calculated. The dependence of the magnetic correlation radius and the average magnetic anisotropy constant on the intrinsic size of the phase inhomogeneity was founded. The data allows estimating the applicability limits of the analytical equations for the magnetization curves approaching saturation of two-phase ferromagnetic nanomaterials.

Аннотация: Magnetic nanocomposites containing iron oxide and gold components take great attention last years because of their relative biocompatibility and the ability to combine the magnetic properties of iron and the chemical bonding properties of gold for the possible drug delivery or diagnostics for various diseases. However, such particles have some toxicity to living cells, and the effect depends on many factors, including size, shape, the ratio of components in the composites, and the type of cells affected. And thus, the search for compositions and technologies for producing iron-gold particles with improved properties and reduced cytotoxicity remains relevant. The aim of the study was to synthesize and characterize Fe3O4/Au nanocomposites and evaluate their influence on living cells using the example of cell line HEK293. Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by co-precipitation of Fe2+/Fe3+ water solution in alkaline conditions and then boiled with HAuCl4 in 0.1 M sodium citrate. The NPs properties were estimated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibration magnetometry and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR). According to magnetometric measurements, nanoparticles are mainly in a superparamagnetic state. By fitting magnetization curves, the magnetic characteristics of nanoparticles were determined: saturation magnetization (59.3 emu/g) and magnetic anisotropy constant (K = 0.86·105 erg/cm3). The average particle size estimated from magnetic measurements was 8.7 nm. Considering the presence of a magnetically dead layer, this is in good agreement with the TEM results. The temperature dependence of the FMR linewidth was analyzed using two models. As a result, the parameters MSV and K/MS were determined. The models used showed good agreement. The values of the anisotropy constant (K = 1.06·105 erg/cm3) and the average particle size (6.8 nm) are estimated. The effect of the NPs on the HEK293 cells was studied by MTT-assay, flow cytometry and RT-PCR. The exposure with the NPs lead to a significant decrease of cell metabolic activity in HEK293 cell culture, but this effect was not accompanied by cell death. It was shown that the expression of antioxidant enzymes SOD1 and GPX1 was reduced at the mRNA stage. So the NPs synthesized may affect gene expression and metabolism of HEK293 cells, but this does not have fatal consequences for cell viability.

Аннотация: Polymer-based dielectric capacitors play a notable part in the practical application of energy storage devices. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets can improve the dielectric properties of polymer-based composites. However, the breakdown strength will greatly reduce with the increase of GO content. Hence, the construction of sandwich structure can enhance the breakdown strength without reducing the dielectric constant. Herein, single-layered and sandwich-structured poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-CTFE)) nanocomposites with low content of GO nanosheets (1.0 wt%) are prepared via employing a straightforward casting method. Compared with the single-layered composites and pure P(VDF-CTFE), the sandwich-structured composites exhibit comprehensively better performance compared. The sandwich-structured composite with 0.4 wt% GO nanosheets show an excellent dielectric constant of 13.6 (at 1 kHz) and an outstanding discharged energy density of 8.25 J cm−3 at 3400 kV cm−1. These results demonstrate that the growth of the dielectric properties is owing to 2D GO nanosheets and the enhancement of breakdown strength due to the sandwich structure. The results from finite element simulation provide theoretical support for the design of high energy density composites.

Аннотация: In situ electron diffraction was used to study structural transformations during the formation of Co-In2O3 ferromagnetic nanocomposite thin films in a thermite reaction of In/Co3O4 bilayer thin films. Heating was performed from room temperature to 600°C at a rate of 4°C/min, while simultaneously electron diffraction patterns were recorded at a speed of 4 frames/min. This made it possible to determine the initiation, 185°C, and finishing, 550°C, temperatures of the solid-state synthesis, as well as the change in the phase composition during the thermite reaction. The synthesized Co-In2O3 film nanocomposite contained ferromagnetic cobalt nanoclusters surrounded by an In2O3 layer, with an average size of 20 nm, and had a magnetization of 400 emu/cm3 and a coercivity of 50 Oe at room temperature. The estimate of the effective interdiffusion coefficient of the reaction suggests that the main mechanism for the formation of the Co-In2O3 nanocomposite is diffusion along the grain boundaries and dislocations.

Аннотация: Conditions for a change in the polarization selectivity of dips in the plasmon absorption spectra of fractal silver nanocomposites irradiated by pulsed laser radiation are studied. The energy thresholds of the polarization selectivity are evaluated, and the polarization and spectral threshold characteristics are compared. Mechanisms behind the correlation between the fractal structure of the nanocomposites, on the one hand, and their optical and photochromic properties, on the other hand, are discussed. Аннотация: The two important groups of Ln2O2SO4 and Ln2O2S compounds are traditionally synthesized with the involvements of environmentally harmful sulfur-containing reagents. We developed in this work a unique green approach for their synthesis, using Ln2(OH)4SO4·2H2O layered hydroxyl sulfate as the precursor (Ln-241 phase). Phase selective crystallization of La-241 under both atmospheric pressure and hydrothermal conditions was firstly optimized, followed by transformation into La2O2S and La2O2SO4 by controlled calcination. Rietveld structure refinement was performed for La-241, La(OH)SO4, La2O2SO4, and La2O2S, and the crystal structure and cell parameters of La-241 were originally reported. The photoluminescence performances of several important activators (Pr3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Tb3+, and Dy3+) in the two hosts, in terms of excitation, emission, quantum yield, and color coordinates of emission, were thoroughly investigated, and multi-color luminescence including bright red, green, orange red, and yellow was obtained under ultraviolet excitation. Detailed investigations of Tb3+ photoluminescence revealed that the lack of 5D3 emission in La2O2S and the gradual quenching of 5D3 blue emission at a higher Tb3+ content (hence decreasing I488/I545 ratio and changing color coordinates) in La2O2SO4 were suggested to be due to thermal activation of the 5D3 electrons into the conduction band and cross relaxation between adjacent Tb3+, respectively. The synthesis approach developed in this work for La2O2SO4 and La2O2S, with water vapor as the only exhaust gas, is environmentally benign and holds great potential in the facile synthesis of analogous compounds of other lanthanides. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.
