Аннотация: Noncollinear random quasi-phase-matched frequency doubling in nonlinear photonic crystal (NPC) of strontium tetraborate (SBO) can be used for background-free autocorrelation measurements of ultrashort pulses in wide spectral range without any angular tuning of nonlinear photonic crystal. Nonuniformity of reciprocal superlattice vectors spectrum of random structure does not affect the accuracy of measurement. Nonlinear photonic crystals of strontium tetraborate are attractive medium for cross-correlation measurements in deep and vacuum ultraviolet. VC 2011 American Institute of Physics. Аннотация: Raman backscattering spectra (RBS), infrared spectra, and X-ray diffraction intensity curves for various fractions of ultradispersed diamond-containing material (UDDCM) were recorded. The RBS and XRD curves obtained suggest that UDDCM is characterized by sharp variations in the ratio between the diamond and nondiamond components, a factor that makes it possible to consider this phase as an individual product and determines the scale of variations in the main characteristics. Fine UDDCM fractions contain only small amounts diamond-like (sp(3) carbon) grains, if any. One possible reason for changes in the ratio between the phases is density fluctuations under nonequilibrium conditions of synthesis.

Аннотация: The problem of propagation of a magnetic inhomogeneity in the form of a magnetic vortex near a defect simulated by a crystallite with uniaxial anisotropy has been solved theoretically. The defect (crystallite) is implanted into a homogeneous 2D ferromagnetic matrix. Apart from the anisotropy energy, the term responsible for the existence of a centrosymmetric potential is included into the total energy. For calculations, we have used the method of collective variables (Thiele equation). We have considered the variants of bidirectional and unidirectional anisotropy of the crystallite. Analysis of the equations of motion for different directions of the anisotropy axis of the implanted defect has revealed the variety in the behavior of the vortex core as a quasiparticle. The vortex core can be trapped by the defect with equilibrium position of the vortex at rest directly on the crystallite or during its motion at a certain distance from it. It is shown that for a small damping parameter and in the case when the defect anisotropy axis lies in the plane of the magnet, the vortex moves so as if its core experiences the action of the repulsive axially symmetric potential.
