Аннотация: Embedded copper mesh coatings with low sheet resistance and high transparency were formed using a low-cost Cu seed mesh obtained with a magnetron sputtering on a cracked template, and subsequent operations electroplating and embedding in a photocurable resin layer. The influence of the mesh size on the optoelectric characteristics and the electromagnetic shielding efficiency in a wide frequency range is considered. In optimizing the coating properties, a shielding efficiency of 49.38 dB at a frequency of 1 GHz, with integral optical transparency in the visible range of 84.3%, was obtained. Embedded Cu meshes have been shown to be highly bending stable and have excellent adhesion strength. The combination of properties and economic costs for the formation of coatings indicates their high prospects for practical use in shielding transparent objects, such as windows and computer monitors.

Аннотация: Miniature bandpass filter constructions based on a novel dual-mode suspended stripline resonator are proposed. Because of a special structure of the resonator, the frequencies of two first oscillation modes may be brought closer together. That allows realizing narrowband filters with the wide upper stopband. The filters have low insertion loss in the passband at small dimensions. Several transmission zeros substantially improve the filter performance. The derived coupling coeffcients account for some features in the frequency response of the filter. The second-order and fourth-order filters with transmission zeros have been fabricated and measured.

Аннотация: Iron oxide nanoparticles coated with polyethylene glycol were synthesized by coprecipitation for use in the magnetic separation of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). The blocking temperature of nanoparticles was studied by the methods of Mossbauer spectroscopy, ferromagnetic resonance, and using magnetometric measurements. The blocking temperature calculated from the temperature dependence of the coercive force was ~ 200 K. The calculation of the blocking temperature from the relaxation time obtained using Mossbauer spectroscopy gave a value of ~ 450 K. The blocking temperature obtained using ferromagnetic resonance was ~ 910 K. The relationship between the obtained blocking temperatures is in good agreement with the Neel-Brown formula. The constants of effective and surface anisotropy were determined by the method of ferromagnetic resonance. Isolation of DNA from blood using prepared particles and separation in a permanent magnet field revealed sufficient productivity, high speed, and the “chemical delicacy” of this approach.

Аннотация: Cyan gap is a major block in achieving high-quality white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). Hence, a novel cyan-emitting phosphor Sr2GdGaO5/0.02Bi3+ with optical tuning performance is synthesized based on the local crystal field regulation strategy surrounding the luminescence center. With the substitution of Al3+ for Ga3+, the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of Sr2GdGa1–xAlxO5/0.02Bi3+ (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) phosphors adjust from cyan (466 nm) to blue (450 nm). Moreover, such a Ba2+ doping adjusts the PL spectra of Sr2–xBaxGdGaO5/0.02Bi3+ (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) phosphors from cyan (466 nm) to green (482 nm). These phenomena are contributed to the crystal field splitting and nephelauxetic effect. The energy transfer from Bi3+ to Eu3+ is realized by co-doping Bi3+ and Eu3+ ions in the A2GdBO5/Bi3+ (A = Sr, Ba; B = Ga, Al) host materials, and two single-phase white phosphors Sr2GdGaO5/0.02Bi3+, 0.05Eu3+ and Sr1.5Ba0.5GdGaO5/0.02Bi3+, 0.05Eu3+ are obtained. Finally, a WLED with high color rendering index (Ra = 93.6) is prepared by using red/green/blue (RGB) phosphors and Sr2GdGaO5/0.02Bi3+ phosphor, which is higher than that of the WLED prepared by RGB phosphors (Ra = 86.7), indicating that Sr2GdGaO5/0.02Bi3+ phosphor can close the cyan gap. These results provide multiple strategies in achieving luminescence controllable and WLED.

Аннотация: Phenolic compounds are common environmental pollutants, which are used in many industries and contaminate water environment due to industrial wastewater discharge. Presently, there is an increasing demand for the development and improvement of inexpensive, easy-to-use analytical tools for in-situ detection of phenolic compounds. In this work, we investigate the effect of adsorption of Cu2+ and Fe2+ ions on the catalytic activity of a composite material based on alumina nanofibers (ANF) and detonation nanodiamonds (DND) in the co-oxidation of phenols with 4-aminoantipyrine in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. We have found more than two-fold increase of the catalytic activity for ANF + DND + Cu composite, while the activity of ANF + DND + Fe composite is found to decrease by several times in comparison with the original ANF + DND material. The results of FTIR analysis indicate that the adsorption of iron ions occurs with the formation of hydroxide surface groups and hydrogen bonds, which apparently block their catalytic activity in the Fenton redox cycle. The higher catalytic performance of AND + DND composite functionalized with copper ions makes it possible to detect two times lower concentrations of analytes (phenol and 4-chlorophenol) in comparison with the original composite. It is shown that the AND + DND + Cu composite provides a linear yield of the co-oxidation reaction product in a wide range of analyte concentrations (0.25–100 μM for phenol and 0.5–25 μM for 4-chlorophenol). Model experiments demonstrate the applicability of copper-functionalized composite as a reusable sensor for the determination of phenol in aqueous samples.

Аннотация: Cr3+-activated double perovskite structure phosphor has drawn wide attention due to its far-red and near-infrared emission. In this work, we synthesized a series of (La,Gd,Y)2MgTiO6∶Cr3+ phosphors which can be excited by ultraviolet light of about 345 nm, and the emission bands are in the range of 700-900 nm. The spectra were tuned by ions substitution strategy. The main emission peaks were blue shifted from 766 nm to 737 nm and 757 nm by substituting the La site with Gd and Y, respectively. Meanwhile, the thermal stability at 150 ℃ increased from 41.7% to 69.1% and 67%, respectively. The crystal structure, microstructure, decay time, thermal stability and band gap were investigated systematically. The substitution of Gd/Y ions causes the lattice contraction, which results in the change of the nephelauxetic effect, and eventually leads to the blue shift of the spectra. The emission spectra of these phosphors have good matching with the 730 nm absorption peak of phytochrome FR(PFR), indicating their application prospect in plant growth lighting. Cationic substitution strategy can regulate the luminescence properties of Cr3+, which provides ideas for the development of phosphors for plant growth lamps in the future.

Аннотация: The Sr1-xSmxTiO3 (х = 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, 0.2) strontium titanate solid solutions were prepared from oxides and carbonates using a conventional ceramic technology based on the mechanochemical activation. The electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient of the synthesized compounds were measured in the temperature range from 300 to 800 K. We found that the properties of the samples significantly depend on the preliminary mechanochemical activation. The thermoelectric power factor attains maximum value in the hydrogen reduced samples with concentration of х = 0.05 and 0.075 obtained from nanoparticles: 5.5 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.95Sm0.05TiO3 (580 K) and 4.10 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.925Sm0.075TiO3 (650 K). An increase in the annealing temperature of mechanically activated samples leads to an even greater increase in electrical conductivity and power factor: 9.2 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.925Sm0.075TiO3 (650 K).

Аннотация: We fabricated Cu-doped TiNxOy thin film resistors by using atomic layer deposition, optical lithography, dry etching, Ti/Cu/Ti/Au e-beam evaporation and lift-off processes. The results of the measurements of the resistance temperature dependence, non-linearity, S-parameters at 0.01–26 GHz and details of the breakdown mechanism under high-voltage stress are reported. The devices’ sheet resistance is 220 ± 8 Ω/□ (480 ± 20 µΩ*cm); intrinsic resistance temperature coefficient (TCR) is ~400 ppm/°C in the T-range of 10–300 K; and S-parameters versus frequency are flat up to 2 GHz with maximum variation of 10% at 26 GHz. The resistors can sustain power and current densities up to ~5 kW*cm−2 and ~2 MA*cm−2, above which they switch to high-resistance state with the sheet resistance equal to ~200 kΩ/□ (~0.4 Ω*cm) caused by nitrogen and copper desorption from TiNxOy film. The Cu/Ti/TiNxOy contact is prone to ageing due to gradual titanium oxidation while the TiNxOy resistor body is stable. The resistors have strong potential for applications in high-frequency integrated and hybrid circuits that require small-footprint, medium-range resistors of 0.05–10 kΩ, with small TCR and high-power handling capability.

Аннотация: A new design of a self-packaged all-PCB ultrawideband filter based on the cascade connection of high-pass and low-pass filters is presented. The novel low-pass and high-pass quasi-lumped filter structure differs from the known one by the existence of cross-coupling between elements producing transmission zeroes at the desired frequency. The filter fabricated using materials with a rather low quality factor has demonstrated a good performance: the central frequency is 0.99 GHz, the 1 dB bandwidth is 151%, the minimum in-band loss is 0.3 dB, the selectivity (Δf 30dB /Δ f 3dB ) is 1.21, and the 40 dB stopband width is 6.10 f 0 .

Аннотация: This paper considers the photoelectrochemical characteristics of a composite porous TiO2 thin film with deposited plasmonic gold nanoparticles. The deposition of gold nanoparticles was carried out by the laser-induced chemical liquid-phase deposition (LCLD) method. The structural characteristics of the composite have been studied; it has been shown that the porous TiO2 film has a lattice related to the tetragonal system and is in the anatase phase. Gold nanoparticles form on the surface of a porous TiO2 film. A complex of photoelectrochemical measurements was carried out. It was shown that the deposition of plasmonic gold nanoparticles led to a significant increase in the photocurrent density by ~820%. The proposed concept is aimed at testing the method of forming a uniform layer of plasmonic gold nanoparticles on a porous TiO2 film, studying their photocatalytic properties for further scaling, and obtaining large area Au/TiO2/FTO photoelectrodes, including in the roll-to-roll process.

Аннотация: In this work, we report on the synthesis, in-depth crystal structure studies as well as optical and magnetic properties of newly synthesized heterometallic quaternary selenides of the Eu+2Ln+3Cu+1Se3 composition. Crystal structures of the obtained compounds were refined by the derivative difference minimization (DDM) method from the powder X-ray diffraction data. The structures are found to belong to orthorhombic space groups Pnma (structure type Ba2MnS3 for EuLaCuSe3 and structure type Eu2CuS3 for EuLnCuSe3, where Ln = Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Y) and Cmcm (structure type KZrCuS3 for EuLnCuSe3, where Ln = Tm, Yb and Lu). Space groups Pnma and Cmcm were delimited based on the tolerance factor t’, and vibrational spectroscopy additionally confirmed the formation of three structural types. With a decrease in the ionic radius of Ln3+ in the reported structures, the distortion of the (LnCuSe3) layers decreases, and a gradual formation of the more symmetric structure occurs in the sequence Ba2MnS3 → Eu2CuS3 → KZrCuS3. According to magnetic studies, compounds EuLnCuSe3 (Ln = Tb, Dy, Ho and Tm) each exhibit ferrimagnetic properties with transition temperatures ranging from 4.7 to 6.3 K. A negative magnetization effect is observed for compound EuHoCuSe3 at temperatures below 4.8 K. The magnetic properties of the discussed selenides and isostructural sulfides were compared. The direct optical band gaps for EuLnCuSe3, subtracted from the corresponding diffuse reflectance spectra, were found to be 1.87–2.09 eV. Deviation between experimental and calculated band gaps is ascribed to lower d states of Eu2+ in the crystal field of EuLnCuSe3, while anomalous narrowing of the band gap of EuYbCuSe3 is explained by the low-lying charge-transfer state. Ab initio calculations of the crystal structures, elastic properties and phonon spectra of the reported compounds were performed.

Аннотация: A new design of a self-packaged all-PCB wideband filter based on the cascade connection of high-pass and low-pass filters is presented. It is shown that high order structures make it possible to design a wideband filter having the number of transmission zeros in the low-frequency stopband equal to the order of the applied high-pass filter and the number of transmission zeros in the high-frequency stopband equal to half the order of the low-pass filter. An implementation of two-layer metallization of the capacitor plates made it possible to manufacture all three types of filters using the common technology of multilayer printed circuit boards with a good coincidence of the characteristics of the model and the fabricated filters. The filter fabricated using materials with a rather low-quality factor (F4BM/RO4450B/RO4003C) has demonstrated a good performance: the central frequency is 0.99 GHz, the 1 dB fractional bandwidth is 152%, the minimum in-band loss is 0.3 dB, the selectivity (Δf30dB/Δf3dB) is 1.21, and the 40-dB stopband width is 6.16f0.

Аннотация: A range of Eu3+-doped AMoO4 (A = Ca and Ba) phosphors were successfully synthetized, and their crystal structures, optical performance, and temperature measurement sensitivities were investigated in detail. Peak doping concentration of CaMoO4:Eu3+ phosphor was 0.18, while peak doping concentration of BaMoO4:Eu3+ phosphor may be greater than 0.18. Then, temperature-dependent photoluminescence emission spectra of representative CaMoO4:0.09Eu3+ and BaMoO4:0.03Eu3+ phosphors were recorded. CaMoO4:0.09Eu3+ phosphor exhibited abnormal thermal quenching, which was attributed to defects caused by heterovalent substitution of ions and increase in the temperature, and good thermal stability. Finally, the possibility of using both phosphors as optical thermometers was discussed, which exhibited good temperature sensitivity. However, CaMoO4:0.09Eu3+ phosphor exhibited two peak absolute (Sa, 1.28 %K−1 and 1.39 %K−1) and relative sensitivities (Sr, 1.21 %K−1 and 1.20 %K−1). In addition, variation trend of Sr value with temperature was considerably peculiar. Two optimum Sa and Sr values were attributed to abnormal thermal quenching of CaMoO4:0.09Eu3+ phosphor. Peak Sa and Sr values of BaMoO4:0.03Eu3+ phosphor was 12.39 %K−1 and 0.89 %K−1, respectively. In addition, Sa of AMoO4:Eu3+ phosphor was negatively related to Eu3+ central asymmetry, while peak Sr value was more inclined to appropriate ionic central asymmetry.

Аннотация: The problem of sputtering of thick metal films on micro and nanotemplates is important for obtaining mesh transparent conductors with excellent optoelectric characteristics. In this work, we demonstrate for the first time the possibility of controlling the degree of peeling of the cell perimeter from the substrate for a cracked template based on egg white by alternating the operations of moistening the template with saturated water vapor and shock drying with hot air. Local peeling of the cracked template cells perimeter makes it possible to increase the thickness of the metal sputtered on the cracked template by more than 1 µm, which is not achievable for other lithographic approaches. Our technique was used to obtain thick Ag meshes with a low sheet resistance of no more than 1.59 Ω/sq and a transparency of about 89.1%. The thick Ag meshes show a shielding efficiency (SE) of 49 dB or 99.998% of the incident power of an electromagnetic wave at a frequency of 1 GHz. In a sandwich geometry, thick Ag meshes, which simulates a real shielding window, the shielding efficiency (SE) reaches 71 dB with a transparency of more than 80%.

Аннотация: A facile and eco-friendly method for activating anodic TiO2 nanotubes (TNTs) by cyclic voltammetry (CV) is proposed, and photoelectrochemical properties of CV-activated TNTs are compared with those of non-activated TNTs and of TNTs activated by hydrogen-thermal reduction. EPR and luminescence studies show that the pristine samples demonstrate rather large content of paramagnetic and luminescing defects, while hydrogenation and CV-activation lead to the different type of rearrangement of defects. TNTs activated by CV-Na2SO4 demonstrate significantly improved photocurrent density (2.25 mA cm-2) in comparison with that of the hydrogen treated and pristine ones (0.93 mA cm-2 and 0.31 mA cm-2) under NUV-irradiation at 0.2 V (RHE). Enhanced photoactivity of Na2SO4-activated TNTs correlates with higher luminescence quantum yield, lowest paramagnetic defects content and larger decay time of the luminescence. Thus, a decrease in the content of defects is an important factor that reduces the non-radiative recombination of charge carriers. The activation-induced redistribution of surface and bulk defects in nanotubes explains the increased photoelectrochemical activity of TiO2-based anodes. Cyclic voltammetry has been proved to be a reliable method to increase the efficiency of TNTs in PEC water splitting.

Аннотация: A fullerene mixture was enriched with endohedral metallofullerenes (EMF) using Lewis acid (TiCl4), which took 22 min, whereas the standard method requires about 8 h. An algorithm for assessing small-area chromatographic peaks has been proposed, which has improved the accuracy of determination. For example, the area of the C84 peak was 4.24% using the developed program, while the use of chromatograph software estimated the area of this peak to be 1.78%.

Аннотация: The development of effective catalysts for the pyrolysis of light hydrocarbons with the production of carbon nanomaterials represents a relevant direction. In the present work, the influence of copper addition on performance of a self-dispersed Ni-catalyst and structural features of the obtained carbon nanofibers (CNFs) was studied. The precursors of Ni and Ni-Cu catalysts were prepared by activation of metal powders in a planetary mill. During contact with the C2H4/H2 reaction mixture, a rapid disintegration of the catalysts with the formation of active particles catalyzing the growth of CNFs has occurred. The kinetics of CNF accumulation during ethylene decomposition on Ni- and Ni-Cu catalysts was studied. The effect of temperature on catalytic performance was explored and it was shown that introduction of copper promotes 1.5–2-fold increase in CNFs yield in the range of 525–600 °C; the maximum CNFs yield (100 g/gcat and above, for 30-min reaction) is reached on Ni-Cu-catalyst at 575–600 °C. A comparative analysis of the morphology and structure of CNF was carried out using electron microscopy methods. The growth mechanism of carbon filaments in the shape of “railway crossties” on large nickel crystals (d > 250 nm) was proposed. It was found that the addition of copper leads to a decrease in the bulk density of the carbon product from 40–60 to 25–30 g/L (at T = 550–600 °C). According to the low-temperature nitrogen adsorption data, specific surface area (SSA) of CNF samples (at T ˂ 600 °C) lies in the range of 110–140 m2/g, regardless of the catalyst composition; at T = 600 °C the introduction of copper contributed to an increase in the specific surface of CNF by 100 m2/g.

Аннотация: Large-area nanoplasmonic structures with pillared metal–insulator geometry, also called nanomushrooms (NM), consist of an active spherical-shaped plasmonic material such as gold as its cap and silicon dioxide as its stem. NM is a geometry which evolves from its precursor, nanoislands (NI) consisting of aforementioned spherical structures on flat silicon dioxide substrates, via selective physical or chemical etching of the silicon dioxide. The NM geometry is well-known to provide enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensitivity in biosensing applications as compared to NI. However, precise optical phenomenon behind this enhancement is unknown and often associated with the existence of electric fields in the large fraction of the spatial region between the pillars of NM, usually accessible by the biomolecules. Here, we uncover the association of LSPR enhancement in such geometries with a hidden plasmonic mode by conducting magneto-optics measurements and by deconvoluting the absorbance spectra obtained during the local refractive index change of the NM and NI geometries. By the virtue of principal component analysis, an unsupervised machine learning technique, we observe an explicit relationship between the deconvoluted modes of LSPR, the differential absorption of left and right circular polarized light, and the refractive index sensitivity of the LSPR sensor. Our findings may lead to the development of new approaches to extract unknown properties of plasmonic materials or establish new fundamental relationships between less understood photonic properties of nanomaterials.

Аннотация: Molybdate and tungstate with scheelite-type structure are excellent self-luminescent materials, which can be used as ideal hosts for the doping of rare-earth ions. In this study, a series of Eu3+-activated SrAO4 (A = Mo and W) phosphors were successfully synthesized, and their crystal structures, photoluminescence properties, and temperature measurement performance were analyzed in detail. These phosphors were excited by UV light (291 nm and 247 nm, respectively), with clear energy transfer (ET) (MoO42−→Eu3+ or WO42−→Eu3+). According to fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) and Judd–Ofelt (J–O) theory, compared to SrWO4:0.01Eu3+ phosphor, SrMoO4:0.01Eu3+ phosphor exhibited better thermal stability, with relatively low Sa value (maximum values were 5.082 %K−1 and 20.74 %K−1, respectively), and their Sr values were not significantly different (maximum values were 0.864 %K−1 and 0.83 %K−1, respectively). Sa value was negatively correlated to central asymmetry of Eu3+, but the optimal Sr value tended to be more suitable for central asymmetry of Eu3+. In addition, Eu3+ exhibited stronger central asymmetry as well as covalency of Eu–O bond in SrMoO4. Results reveal that SrMoO4:xEu3+ and SrWO4:xEu3+ can be used for luminescent thermometers.

Аннотация: An increasing number of studies have reported producing composite structures by combining thermoelectric and functional materials. However, combining energy filtering and ferroelectric polarization to enhance the dimensionless figure of merit thermoelectric ZT remains elusive. Here we report a composite that contains nanostructured BaTiO3 embedded in a Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 matrix. We show that ferroelectric BaTiO3 particles are evenly composited with Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 grains reducing the concentration of free charge carriers with increasing BaTiO3 content. Additionally, as a result of the energy-filtering effect and ferroelectric polarization, the Seebeck coefficient was improved by ∼10% with a ∼10% improvement in power factors. The BaTiO3 phase can effectively scatters phonons reducing lattice thermal conductivity κl (0.5 W m–1 K–1) and increasing ZT to 1.31 at 363 K in Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 composites with 2 vol % BaTiO3 content giving an improvement of ∼25% over pure Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3. Our work indicates that the introduction of ferroelectric nanoparticles is an effective method for optimizing the ZT of Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3-based thermoelectric materials.
