Аннотация: The two primary physical methods for identifying lithium titanate, a negative electrode material used commercially, are X-Ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Although there are many publications on this topic, they are focused mainly on chemistry, so there are still some points that require clarification from a physical and methodological point of view. Difference of experimentally observed and theoretically predicted Raman spectra was explained through a combination of experiments and computations. The work comprises experiments and computations to explain why there are different numbers of predicted and observed Raman-active bands. Our low-temperature study and the analysis of thermal shifts during heating led us to conclude that the approach with surplus bands is advantageous and we recommend using major F2g band shifts to estimate the sample heating.

Аннотация: In this study, particles of synthetic undoped diamond (DN) obtained via the high pressure – high temperature method were coated with a nickel shell using metallic nickel plasma in a two-jet plasma generator with gas vortex and magnetic flux stabilization. Through the use of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, we observed the formation of a nickel diamond composite with a core-shell structure, where DN serves as the core and Ni nanoclusters form the shell (DN@Ni). The results of voltammetric analysis indicated that DN@Ni, when deposited on a graphite electrode, exhibited significant electrocatalytic activity in the oxidation of methanol and paracetamol in an alkaline electrolyte.

Аннотация: The study of Na-carbonates stability and their transformations in aqueous carbonate fluid under high P–T conditions is relevant from the point of view of the understanding geochemical processes of the Na-assisted carbon circulation in the Earth’s crust and subduction zones. In situ Raman study of Na-bearing carbonate-water-Fe-metal system in diamond anvil cell (DAC) at high P–T conditions revealed that carbonates decompose with abiogenic formation of formates and other organic compounds that differs from behavior of carbonates in dry system. XRD and FTIR methods have been used additionaly to determine the phase composition. Na-bearing carbonates (nahcolite NaHCO3, shortite Na2Ca2(CO3)3 and cancrinite Na7Ca[(CO3)1.5Al6Si6O24]·2H2O) in aqueous fluid decompose to form simple carbonates and formates (as dominant organic molecules) at moderate P–T parameters (above ∼0.2 GPa, 200°C). Our experimental results directly confirm the hypothesis of Horita and Berndt (Science, 1999) about possible yield of organic formates in the carbonate-water-metal system. Nahcolite NaHCO3 in aqueous fluid in the presence of Fe metal decomposes into anhydrous phases: natrite γ-Na2CO3, siderite, magnetite (due to dissolution of Fe steel gasket), Na-formate and likely organic molecular crystalline solvate of Na-formate and methyl formate. Shortite decays into anhydrous phases: aragonite CaCO3, Na-Ca-formates and an amorphous phase. Cancrinite decomposes to unidentified carbonate-alumonosilicate phases, Na-Ca-formates and unknown organic molecular crystal. Magnetite is also formed in this system due to dissolution of Fe steel gasket used in DAC. The present study provides a new insight in processes of abiogenic formation of organic matter from carbonates in the crust and upper mantle.

Аннотация: Bi‒Sr‒Ca‒Cu‒O polycrystalline high-temperature superconductors with the 2–2-2–3 structure have been comprehensively studied, their properties have been described, and features of the small magnetic hysteresis in the investigated materials have been established. The small magnetic hysteresis is shown to be caused by the penetration of a magnetic flux into a superconductor and its capture in the region of boundaries between HTS crystallites and by Meissner currents flowing through these boundaries. It has been found that, at a certain magnetic prehistory, the small hysteresis collapses, i.e. its footprints disappear. This has been attributed to the interaction between two superconducting subsystems in the investigated polycrystalline HTS, specifically, the effect of the magnetic moments of HTS crystallites on the effective field in the regions of intercrystalline boundaries. The shape of the small magnetic hysteresis loop has been described within the critical state model.

Аннотация: Recently, an optical thermometer based on the dual-emitting fluorescent intensity ratio (FIR) in the visible light (VIS) region has achieved great development. However, there is very little progress in thermometers from NIR light. In this work, a novel optical thermometer based on highly efficient NIR dual-emission of Cr3+ and Ni2+ in LaZnGa11O19 (LZG) with a magnetoplumbite structure is designed. Utilizing energy transfer from Cr3+ to Ni2+, the dual-emission shows a wide coverage in the 650–1600 nm region, covering the NIR I and II windows, respectively. The as-reported LZG:0.3Cr3+ and LZG:0.3Cr3+,0.01Ni2+ phosphors can reach internal/external quantum efficiency (IQE/EQE) of 94%/64% and 77%/53%, respectively. The electroluminescence property and potential applications in spectroscopic analysis, night-vision, and bioimaging of fabricated NIR-LED with LZG:0.3Cr3+,0.01Ni2+ have also been investigated. In addition, the designed ratiometric optical thermometer responds to wide temperature ranges (100-175 K, 200–475 K) and shows a maximum relative sensitivity value (Sr) of 2.4% K−1 at 475 K. The optical performance of absorption in the red region and emission in the NIR region enables the LZG:0.3Cr3+,0.01Ni2+ to become a candidate for NIR optical thermometers in biotechnological applications.

Аннотация: The utilization of graphene on silicon carbide (SiC) substrates holds substantial promise for advancements in spintronics and nanoelectronics. Furthermore, incorporating magnetic metals provides an optimal framework for probing fundamental physical phenomena. The approach to developing such systems is in situ intercalation of graphene with magnetic metals. Herein, the electronic structure is analyzed and the magnetic properties of the system are synthesized by the thermal decomposition of 6H-SiC(0001) surface and subsequent intercalation of graphene with cobalt (Co) and iron (Fe) atoms. X-ray photoemission spectroscopy and low-energy electron diffraction are employed to control the synthesis and metal intercalation processes. The morphological characteristics of the synthesized system are studied by means of atomic force microscopy. The findings derived from magneto-optic Kerr effect measurements reveal a homogeneous ferromagnetic ordering at room temperature. Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy is used to ascertain the impact of intercalation on graphene's electronic structure. The results of this study are essential for the development of graphene-based spintronics and nanoelectronic devices as well as for fundamental studies in magnetic graphene systems.

Аннотация: Vortex relaxation has been studied in a microsized HTS with various distributions of artificial pinning in the form of submicro-holes. It has been shown that, in some cases, for a superconductor with dimensions up to several micrometers, the time dependences of the trapped magnetic field do not correspond with the collective creep model. The dependences of the trapped-field relaxation rate and vortex activation energy on the magnetizing field (up to 0.5 T) and temperature (up to 50 K) have been obtained. It has been shown that the presence of submicro-holes slightly increases the relaxation rate, mainly due to the decrease in the number of random nanosized pinning centers.

Аннотация: На основе рефракционной диэлектрической модели создана одночастотная диэлектрическая модель талых и мерзлых лесных почв корневой зоны, учитывающая влияние как минеральной, так и органической компоненты почвенной смеси. Модель разработана для частоты 435 МГц на основе диэлектрических измерений пяти почв, в которых содержание органического вещества варьировалось от 11,1 до 54,4 % и глины от 21,1 до 40,9 %. Диэлектрические измерения были проведены в диапазоне массовой влажности от сухого состояния до наименьшей влагоемкости и диапазоне температур от – 30 до 25 ℃. В исследуемом диапазоне температур коэффициент детерминации между рассчитанными с использованием предложенной модели и измеренными значениями действительной (ε') и мнимой (ε") частями комплексной диэлектрической проницаемости составляет 0,988 – 0,997 для ε' и 0,957 – 0,971 для ε". Нормированное среднеквадратическое отклонение при этом составило 6 – 5,6 % для ε' и 20,2 – 21,2 % для ε". Разработанная диэлектрическая модель может быть применена в алгоритмах дистанционного зондирования при восстановлении значения влажности лесных почв корневой зоны из данных радарного и радиометрического зондирования.The single-frequency dielectric model of thawed and frozen forest soils in the root zone based on the refractive dielectric model was created, taking into account the influence of both the mineral and organic components of the soil mixture. The dielectric model was created on at 435 MHz the basis of the laboratory dielectric measurements of five soils with organic matter content in the range from 11.1 to 54.4 % and clay content from 21.1 to 40.9 %. Dielectric measurements were carried out in the range of the gravimetric moisture from the dry state to the lowest moisture capacity and in the temperature range from –30 to 25 ℃. The coefficient of determination between the predicted and measured values for real and imaginary parts of the complex permittivity are 0.988 - 0.997 and 0.957 - 0.971, respectively. The normalized standard deviations in this case are 6 - 5.6 % and 20.2 - 21.2 % for real and imaginary parts of the complex permittivity, respectively. The developed dielectric model can be used in remote sensing algorithms of soil moisture retrieval of forest soils in the root zone from the data radar and radiometric.

Аннотация: Halide double perovskites like Cs2NaBiCl6 are good host materials for luminescent dopants like Mn2+. The nature of photoluminescence (PL) depends on the local structure around the dopant ion, and doping may sometimes influence the global structure of the host. Here, we unveil the correlation between the temperature-induced (global) structural phase transition of Mn2+-doped Cs2NaBiCl6 with the local structure and PL of the Mn2+ dopant. X-ray diffraction analysis shows Mn2+-doped Cs2NaBiCl6 is in a cubic (Fm3m) phase between 300 and 110 K, below which the phase changes to tetragonal (I4/mmm), which persists at least until 15 K. The small (∼1%) doping amount does not alter the phase transition behavior of Cs2NaBiCl6. Importantly, the phase transition does not influence the Mn2+ d-electron PL. The PL peak energy, intensity, spectral width, and lifetime do not show any signature of the phase transition between 300–6 K. The hyperfine splitting in temperature-dependent electron paramagnetic spectra of Mn2+ ions also remain unchanged across the phase transition. These results suggest that the global structural phase transition of the host does not influence the local structure and emission property of the dopant Mn2+ ion. This structure–property insight might be explored for other transition-metal- and lanthanide-doped halide double perovskites as well. The stability of dopant emission regardless of the structural phase transition bodes well for their potential applications in phosphor-converted light emitting diodes.
