Аннотация:
The B3LYD /6-31(p,d) density functional method is applied to pheromones of the forest xylophagous insects Ips typographus L., Monochamus urussovi Fisch., and Monochamus galloprovincialis Oliv. to calculate the absorption spectra and find excited states. The calculated results are used to assess the possible activity of the molecules when they are affected by solar radiation.

Electromagnetic interference shielding
Аннотация:
We present novel polyethylene (PE) composites for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding application. They are based on cobalt modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) produced via in situ polymerization of ethylene, with the Ti-Ziegler–Natta catalyst preliminarily immobilized on Co/MWCNT hybrids. The electromagnetic properties of the composites were tuned by varying the filler loading and Co:MWCNT ratio. The microstructure of the composites and electromagnetic absorption process were carefully characterized by transmission and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometry, ferromagnetic resonance and vector network analysis. The electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of the nanocomposite were investigated in the 10 MHz−18 GHz frequency range revealing that the EMI absorption properties can be tuned by varying the Co:MWCNT weight ratio in the filler. Interestingly, the Co/MWCNT-PE composite with a total filler and Co loading of only 12 and 1.7 wt%, respectively, showed extremely high reflection loss (RL) of −55 dB. More importantly, an effective bandwidth of 12.8–17.8 GHz (RL below −10 dB) was achieved for a matching thickness of only 1.5 mm. The specific RL value (RL/filler loading) of the composite was superior in comparison with the previously reported nanostructured carbon materials. The highly effective absorbing properties of Co/MWCNT-PE composites are explained primarily by the unprecedented uniform filler distribution in the polyethylene as well as by the synergistic effect of MWCNTs and Co nanoparticles. This approach thus offered an effective strategy to design cost-effective, lightweight and flexible EMI shielding materials with tunable dielectric and magnetic performance.

Аннотация:
The ground and excited states of the pheromone molecules produced by xylophagous insects (the bark beetle Ips typographus L., the black fir sawyer beetle Monochamus urussovi Fisch., and the black pine sawyer M. galloprovincialis Oliv.) were modeled using a quantum chemical method utilizing DFT (density functional theory) with the B3LYP functional. The absorption wavelengths (energies) and dipole moments were calculated; the transitions of electrons from occupied to empty molecular orbitals were considered. The computed data were used to assess the stability of pheromone molecules exposed to environmental factors, such as solar radiation and humidity.

Аннотация:
The aim of the current study was to find the most effective spectral modes of irradiation of short-season plants (for example, radish) using a fluorescent LED irradiator with a variable spectrum. The research methodology was based on the species-specific response of plants to the spectral composition of light. Photo-biological experiments were carried out to find effective spectral composition of PAR for cultivating radish communities under stable and variable irradiation modes of electrical lighting. It was shown that under stable irradiation modes, the highest productivity of economically useful radish biomass had been achieved at spectral composition with a maximum of 60 % radiation in the (600–700) nm region in a variable spectral irradiation mode. The variable spectral irradiation mode turned out to be the most effective when the spectral composition with the dominance of red rays was changed to the spectral composition with the dominance of blue rays. There were no significant differences between the best production parameters for stable and variable modes of irradiation of radish plants, which indicates the expediency of choosing the stable spectral mode of irradiation of radish plants as a short-season crop under electrical illumination. The results obtained can be used to select spectral irradiation modes for short-season plants grown under electrical lighting in northern regions and in isolated rooms in various climatic zones using "City-farm" technologies.
