Аннотация: Bulk composites Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+NiTiO3 and Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7+MgTiO3 with insulator volume content 7.5% and 15% modelling a network of Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor (S-I-S) junctions have been prepared. The ?(T) dependences of composites HTSC+MgTiO3 are described well by the mechanism of Thermally Activated Phase Slippage (TAPS). The anomalous behavior of resistivity ?(T) of HTSC+NiTiO3 composites manifesting as a kink on ?(T) curves at some temperature Tm have been observed. In the temperature range Tm < T < TC the dissipation is Ohmic while below Tm the CVCs are strongly non-linear. This peculiarity is interpreted as arisen owing to Abrikosov vortices flow.

Аннотация: The study was aimed to reveal the dependence of changes in the content of metal-containing proteins and freeradical forms in a suspension of the experimental tumor in different periods of tumor growth using electron paramagnetic resonance. The object of the study was Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma, an experimental undifferentiated tumor, which is used to study various aspects of tumor development under external influences. Ehrlich ascites carcinoma was inoculated into the peritoneal cavity of laboratory mice. We believe that the determination of the concentrations of metal-containing proteins and free-radical forms using this method may be an important prognostic parameter for assessing the state of the tumor. Changes in metabolism will inevitably affect the functionality of cells and, as a consequence, the dynamics of tumor growth. The results of the study showed that metalcontaining proteins belonging to ascites plasma, such as transferrin, ferritin and ceruloplasmin, do not undergo significant changes. The signal from molybdenum-containing proteins also does not change at the stages of experimental tumor growth under consideration. However, in the course of this experiment, it was possible to record a slight decrease in the intensity of the formation of denitrosyl iron complexes with the development of a tumor in the body.

Аннотация: Anisotropy mechanisms in compounds with S-state ions are discussed, including the 'single-ion' exchange mechanism that was developed theoretically by Nikiforov and coworkers based on the two-ion model and which has only recently received detailed experimental study. Results demonstrating the significant role of the 'single-ion' source are presented. An independent generalized method for quantitatively describing and predicting the anisotropy of magnetically ordered crystals is discussed, and its potential for the investigation of the BiFeO3 multiferroic in the region of the existence of a spin cycloid is examined. The anisotropic interactions responsible for the formation of nanostructures in the form of spin vortices (skyrmions) in MnSi and Cu2OSeO3 are analyzed.

Аннотация: The temperature dependence of resistivity and the bulk modulus are calculated on the Kondo lattice, with ring exchange between localized spins, using the spin-polaron and adiabatic approximation. Peak and zero values of the bulk modulus as functions of temperature and concentration are determined below the temperature of the transition to the paramagnetic state. The effects of the nearest order between transverse spin components and a value of the ring exchange between localized spins on magnetoresistivity are estimated.

Аннотация: Composites representing a network of random Josephson junctions and characterized by the compositions 92.5 at. % Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 + 7.5 at. % NiTiO3 and 92.5 at. % Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7 + 7.5 at.% MgTiO3 are synthesized, and their magnetoresistance properties are studied. The temperature dependence of the resistance R(T) measured for the composite that contains the paramagnetic NiTiO3 compound exhibits a characteristic feature below the superconducting transition temperature T-c of the high-T-c superconductor, namely, a region where R is independent of the current j and weakly depends on the magnetic field H. Below a certain temperature T-m, a strong dependence of R on j and H is observed, which is peculiar to a network of Josephson junctions. The dependences R(T, j, H) obtained for the "reference" samples with the nonmagnetic MgTiO3 compound exhibit no such features. The anomalous behavior of the HTSC + NiTiO3 composite is explained by the effect produced by the magnetic moments of Ni atoms in the insulating barriers on the transport current. Аннотация: The capacity and the dielectric loss tangent of a Gd x Mn1–xSe (x ≤ 0.2) solid solution have been measured in the frequency range 1–300 kHz without a magnetic field and in a magnetic field of 8 kOe in the temperature range 100–450 K, and the magnetic moment of the solid solution has been measured in a field of 8.6 kOe. The magnetocapacity effect and the change in the magnetocapacity sign have been observed in room temperature in the paramagnetic region. A correlation of the changes in the dielectric permittivity and the magnetic susceptibility with temperature has been revealed. The magnetocapacity is described using the model with orbital electron ordering and the Maxwell–Wagner model.

Аннотация: We report g tensors of surface color centers, so-called F-s(+) centers, of MgO calculated with two density-functional approaches using accurately embedded cluster models. In line with recent UHV measurements on single-crystalline MgO film, we determined only small g-tensor anisotropies and negative shifts Delta g equivalent to g-g(e) for all F-s(+) sites considered, namely, (001)-terrace, step, edge, and corner sites. The g values are very sensitive to the local structure of the defect: relaxation reverses the sign of Delta g. However, accounting for the spin-orbit interaction either self-consistently or perturbatively yields very similar results. In addition to the values of the tensor components, their direction with respect to the surface was determined. In contrast to edges, significant deviations from ideal C-2v symmetry were found for F-s(+) centers at steps. Recent data on single-crystalline thin films are reevaluated in the light of these results. (c) 2006 American Institute of Physics.
