Аннотация: All of man's former space flights were not real ventures into space in the biological sense, as his life was supported with unregenerated earth supplies. The coming stage of space exploration requires man's long existence in the cosmos and on the other planets. This stage of man's activity outside the earth become possible only by creating small man-made ecosystems, permitting the support of his metabolism by the recycling of substances of the terrestrial biosphere. Creation of such systems is a new scientific and technical task. Man-made ecosystems are a new product of man's activity, which have no complete analogy, either in nature, or in technology. Stochastic mechanisms, which stabilize biogeocenosis, cannot be effective in small ecosystems. A technique of parametric control over biosynthesis made it possible to calculate, and put to practice, an ecosystem for man with a cyclic regeneration of the atmosphere, water and, partially, food. The specific bio-technological properties of small man-made ecosystems are being analysed. The possibility of their application for man's excursions into space and for the settlement of other planets is being considered.

Аннотация: The electron absorption spectra of naphthalene—β-naphthol mixed molecular crystals are measured in polarized light at 4.2 to 300 K. The fine structure of spectra in the region of naphthalene and β-naphthol absorption (the lowest singlet—singlet transitions) is shown to result from localized and pseudolocalized electron states in the Davydov splitting region of naphthalene, 31482 to 31638 cm−1. It consists of phonon side bands for electron transitions of β-naphthol in naphthalene with v = 29960 cm−1 and v = 30100 cm−1. The long-wave doublet 29697, 29774 cm−1 is connected with the formation of clusters.

Аннотация: The electronic absorption spectra of an acenaphthylene single crystal are obtained in polarized light at 4.2 to 300 K. The temperature dependence of band width, maximum and integral intensity of the lowest singlet-singlet transition at v = 21762 cm−1 are discussed. Both the band broadening of the exciton doublet with va = 21260 cm−1 and vb = 21280 cm−1 and its intensity decrease are shown to be due to a change of orientational disorder, when approaching the orientational phase transition at T = 130 K. The constancy of Davydov splitting Δ = 20 cm−1 with temperature is associated with inter-ordering of two sets of translationally non-equivalent acenaphthylene molecules, which does not influence the value of resonance interaction between the pair molecules.

Аннотация: Nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray and neutron diffractional laser Raman investigations are carried out. A semi-quantitative model of the phase transition in SASeD-crystals is proposed. The phase transition is of a mixed (trigger) type. Along with the active ionic displacements in the sodium-oxygen octahedra and additional distortions of tetrahedral groups, ordering processes of hydrogen bonds and tetrahedral groups take place. In the process of ordering the nonlinear interaction of SeO//4-groups and water vibrations are of importance.

Аннотация: The temperature dependences are measured of spontaneous polarization and generation of optical second harmonics of ((NH4)1 − xRbx)2SO4 single crystals for x = 0.03. New components are found of the vector of spontaneous polarization and of the tensor of the nonlinear dielectric response. The results are explained by the different character of the compounds, containing NHurn:x-wiley:00318965:media:PSSA2210590237:tex2gif-stack-1- and Rb+-ions in the lattice and nonuniform distribution of impurities.
