Аннотация: The vibration frequencies of unstable ferroelectric and antiferrodistortion modes and the dependences of the energy on the ion displacement amplitude have been calculated within the generalized Gordon-Kim model for distortions along eigenvectors of these modes in the mixed compounds Sr(1-x)A(x)Ti(1-x/4)square O-x/4(3) and Sr(1-y)A(2y/3)square y/3TiO3 (A = Sc3+, In3+, La3+, Bi3+; square is the vacancy). To compensate an excess positive charge, vacancies are introduced into the Ti4+ or Sr2+ site. Calculations have been performed in the "average" crystal approximation for impurity concentrations of 0.25 and 0.50. To this end, a set of 40 atomic superlattices with various orderings of heterovalent ions Sr2+ and impurity A(3+) has been considered. It has been found that each impurity type, independently of charge balance, induces ferroelectric instabilities in doped compounds. In the case of doping with In3+ and La3+ for concentration x = 0.25, the possibility of rotating the polarization vector has been shown.

Аннотация: The lattice vibration spectrum, rf permittivity, and dynamic Born charges have been calculated for ordered Pb-2 B'BaEuro(3)O(3) (B'=Ga, In, Lu; BaEuro(3)=Nb, Ta) solid solutions in terms of the generalized Gordon-Kim model. It has been shown that all compounds exhibit a ferroelectric instability and that the frequencies of "soft" ferroelectric modes are close in magnitude. The ferroelectric phase-transition temperatures and the spontaneous polarization in the ferroelectric phase of the solid solutions under consideration have been calculated by the Monte Carlo method using the model Hamiltonian in the local mode approximation. The transition temperature is found to increase with increasing atomic number of the B' ion.

All the compounds are found to have soft modes related to the center (Gamma(15)) and boundary point R (R(15)) of the Brillouin zone; the frequencies of these modes are close. The ferroelectric phase transition temperatures and the spontaneous polarization in the ferroelectric phase are calculated for the solid solutions using a model Hamiltonian in the local mode approximation and the Monte Carlo method. These temperatures for the tantalum compounds are found to be higher than for the niobium compounds, and temperature t(s) increases with the atomic number of ion B'. A model where the antiferroelectric state is related to the condensation of modes Gamma(15) and R(15) is proposed. It is found that, for all compounds except for PbSc(1/2)Nb(1/2)O(3) and PbSc(1/2)Ta(1/2)O(3), the ferroelectric phase, which is only related to the condensation of mode R(15), and the antiferroelectric phase have similar energies. In PbIn(1/2)Ta(1/2)O(3), the antiferroelectric phase turns out to be energetically favorable.

Аннотация: In SrxBa1-xNb2O6 crystals (x = 0.33, 0.5, 0.61, and 0.75), temperature dependences of spontaneous polarization, strain, elastic modules, and second harmonic generation (SHG) signal are compared. It is revealed that SHG describes the temperature dependences of dipole moments in polar nanoregions in paraelectric phase. In the vicinity of the phase transition in paraelectric phase, SHG reflects the temperature behavior of relatively large and long-lived polar asymmetric regions as indicated by the presence of the intermediate temperature range on the temperature dependence of this nonlinear response.
