Аннотация: The design of a 10th-order waveguide bandpass filter with an additional inductive cross-coupling between non-adjacent resonators has been proposed and studied. An inductive coupling is formed by a U-shaped conductor structure with grounded ends that is formed in the filter cover. This method of cross-coupling organization ensures not only the temperature stability of the characteristics, but also the manufacturability of the structure. The high selectivity of the device is achieved by both the attenuation poles located near the passband, as well as the level of suppression in the stopbands, exceeding 120 dB. The passband loss of the fabricated filter is ~ 0.8 dB at its central frequency f0=18.2 GHz and relative bandwidth Δf/f0=1.5%. The small dimensions (135 x 30 x 10 mm) and the weight of about 200 g of the device, with simultaneously high electrical characteristics show the promise of its use, for example, in on-board and ground-based space communication systems.

Аннотация: New resonator design employing a hairpin stripline conductor with a stub situated on one side of a dielectric substrate and regular stripline conductors (connected to a screen) on the other side. Eigenfrequencies of the first three oscillation modes of this resonator can be made closer to each other, so that the resonances of two modes are involved in the formation of the passband while the third mode resonance forms a minimum of the transmission coefficient adjacent to the passband. A structure comprising four resonators of this type has the characteristic of an eighth-order bandpass filter arranged in a case with 45 × 16 × 6.25-mm internal dimensions possessing f0 = 0.52 GHz central frequency with a 14% relative bandwidth. The filter is highly selective due to the attenuation poles being close to the pass band and a wide high-frequency stopband extending above a fivefold f0 value at a level of –100 dB.

Аннотация: A new miniature design of a highly selective lowpass filter based on a suspended substrate with a two-sided stripline pattern has been developed. The filter frequency response slope (cutoff attenuation rate) and stopband attenuation depth are determined by transmission zeros, the number of which is equal to the filter order. An experimental prototype of a fifth-order lowpass filter on 0.5-mm-thick alumina substrate with dielectric permittivity ε = 9.8 has been synthesized with the aid of numerical electrodynamic analysis of a three-dimensional model. The cutoff frequency of the filter passband at a –1-dB level is fc = 1.75 GHz. The stopband width at a –100-dB attenuation level reaches 4.4fc.

Аннотация: A new monolithic design of a miniature bandpass filter for manufacture by means of multilayer printed-circuit-board technology has been developed. It is demonstrated using a fourth-order filter that multi-conductor strip resonators used in the design ensure both miniaturization and high selectivity of the device. The passband center frequency of the manufactured filter is f0 = 546 MHz, the fractional bandwidth is Δf/f0 = 25%, and the insertion loss is 0.8 dB. The filter has a wide high-frequency stopband, which extends up to a frequency of 10f0 at a level of –30 dB. The filter dimensions are 15.0 × 12.0 × 4.3 mm (0.027λ0 × 0.021λ0 × 0.007λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength in vacuum at frequency f0) and the mass is only 1.8 g. The performances of the filter and the accessibility of its design for surface mounting show that the device has great potential.

Аннотация: A microstrip bandpass filter of new design based on original resonators with an interdigital structure of conductors has been studied. The proposed filters of third to sixth order are distinguished for their high frequency-selective properties and much smaller size than analogs. It is established that a broad stop band, extending up to a sixfold central bandpass frequency, is determined by low unloaded Q of higher resonance mode and weak coupling of resonators in the pass band. It is shown for the first time that, as the spacing of interdigital stripe conductors decreases, the Q of higher resonance mode monotonically drops, while the Q value for the first operating mode remains high. A prototype fourth-order filter with a central frequency of 0.9 GHz manufactured on a ceramic substrate with dielectric permittivity ɛ = 80 has microstrip topology dimensions of 9.5 × 4.6 × 1 mm3. The electrodynamic 3D model simulations of the filter characteristics agree well with the results of measurements.

Аннотация: It is shown that for an optimal substrate thickness ALD technology will be promising for IF bandpass filter designing. A two-conductor stripline ALD resonator with central frequency 200 MHz will have Q-factor 53 with total length 3.7 mm (0.0025λg) and the frequency separation of the first and the second oscillation modes up to 59. Two bandpass filters for VHF and UHF designed and fabricated for commercial application display good agreement between the simulation and the experiment. A 3-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 255 MHz and lateral size 15.8×3.2 mm2 has stopband width 13.5f0 , and a 6-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 1250 MHz and lateral size 4.4×5.1 mm2 has stopband width 9.4f0.

Аннотация: An ultra-wideband bandpass filter formed by cascading of a novel high-pass filter (HPF) and a low-pass filter (LPF) on suspended substrates with a two-sided pattern of strip conductor has been investigated. The high selectivity of the HPF is ensured by the transmission zeros near the passband, the number of which is equal to the filter order. A second-order HPF has been designed on a 0.5-mm-thick substrate with a permittivity of ε = 9.8 using the numerical electrodynamic analysis of a 3D model of the filter. The experimental HPF prototype has a cutoff frequency of fb = 0.25 GHz at a level of –3 dB and a passband that extends to 5 GHz. The ultra-wideband bandpass filter formed by cascading of the LPF and the designed HPF has a fractional bandwidth of Δf/f0 = 150% with a central frequency of f0 = 1 GHz. It has the broad and deep high-frequency stopband, which extends to a frequency of 7.8f0 at a suppression level of –100 dB.

Аннотация: Characteristics of a new miniaturized coaxial resonator are theoretically investigated. It is shown that the first resonant frequency of the resonator can be significantly lowered relative to the second one and the resonator dimensions can be considerably decreased as compared to those of a traditional dielectric filled quarter wavelength coaxial resonator. Based on the investigated resonator, a fourth order bandpass filter has been designed and fabricated. The filter stopband at a level of no worse than –90 dB extends to the frequency that exceeds the passband center frequency by a factor of 47. Calculated frequency responses are in good agreement with those measured on the fabricated filter prototypes.

Аннотация: A new design of a self-packaged all-PCB ultrawideband filter based on the cascade connection of high-pass and low-pass filters is presented. The novel low-pass and high-pass quasi-lumped filter structure differs from the known one by the existence of cross-coupling between elements producing transmission zeroes at the desired frequency. The filter fabricated using materials with a rather low quality factor has demonstrated a good performance: the central frequency is 0.99 GHz, the 1 dB bandwidth is 151%, the minimum in-band loss is 0.3 dB, the selectivity (Δf 30dB /Δ f 3dB ) is 1.21, and the 40 dB stopband width is 6.10 f 0 .

Аннотация: A new design of a self-packaged all-PCB wideband filter based on the cascade connection of high-pass and low-pass filters is presented. The novel low-pass and high-pass quasi-lumped filter structure differs from the known ones by the existence of cross-coupling between elements producing transmission zeroes at the desired frequency. It is shown that high order structures make it possible to design a wideband filter having the number of transmission zeros in the low-frequency stopband equal to the order of the applied high-pass filter and the number of transmission zeros in the high-frequency stopband equal to half the order of the low-pass filter. An implementation of two-layer metallization of the capacitor plates made it possible to manufacture all three types of filters using the common technology of multilayer printed circuit boards with a good coincidence of the characteristics of the model and the fabricated filters. The filter fabricated using materials with a rather low-quality factor (F4BM/RO4450B/RO4003C) has demonstrated a good performance: the central frequency is 0.99 GHz, the 1 dB fractional bandwidth is 152%, the minimum in-band loss is 0.3 dB, the selectivity (Δf30dB/Δf3dB) is 1.21, and the 40-dB stopband width is 6.16f0.

Аннотация: A comparison is made of the characteristics of bandpass filters consisting of two interacting resonators, which are either half-wave or quarter-wave segments of microstrip transmission lines with the same widths of strip conductors. Plates with a thickness of 0.5 mm made of TBNS high-frequency ceramics with a relative permittivity ε = 80 were used as substrates for microstrip structures. The structures having a maximum coupling region of the resonators and the maximum value of their coupling to external ports with a wave impedance of 50 Ω were studied. The filters were tuned by selecting the gap between the strip conductors so that the maximum reflection level in the passband was equal to –20 dB. Electromagnetic simulation of 3D models showed that the fractional bandwidth of filters based on quarter-wave resonators is almost 2 times wider than the bandwidth of filters based on half-wave resonators, and this fact is confirmed by the measurement results. The discovered effect is explained by twice the characteristic impedance of a quarter-wave resonator relative to a half-wave one.

Аннотация: A compact microstrip resonator based on the interdigital structure is proposed. The resonator has several times higher unloaded quality factor compared to similar resonators presented previously and can even reach the Q-factor of a regular λ/4 resonator. The size of the resonator can be significantly reduced with a substantial increase in quality factor by incrementing the number of fingers in the interdigital structure. In addition, for each gap between the fingers, there exist an optimal number of fingers that correspond to the maximum Q-factor. An extension of the upper stopband for a bandpass filter designed using the resonator can be achieved by the interconnection of the fingers in each of the comb structures. The simulation results are proven by fabricated resonators and a fourpole bandpass filter. For the central frequency of 2000 MHz and 16.2% fractional bandwidth, the lateral size of the filter is only 11.5mm × 3.8 mm for alumina substrate (eps = 9.8). The filter has an upper stopband up to 5.8f0 at the level −40 dB.

Аннотация: This paper presents a new type of magnetically tunable phase shifter. The shifter has the structure of microstrip bandpass filter on a substrate containing magnetic material whose magnetic permeability is controlled by magnetic field due to ferromagnetic resonance. The phase shifter's operation is based on the fact that phase shift in a bandpass filter changes with tuning of its central frequency. Two types of devices were designed and fabricated for the UHF band. One of them has a five-layer NiFe film as an active medium and demonstrates a figure of merit of 40°/dB achieved already at 20 Oe of the controlling magnetic field in 10% of the relative operational bandwidth. The second device with YIG ferrite as an active medium gave 360° tunable phase shift in 5% operational bandwidth that corresponds to the figure of merit of 150°/dB (3.1°/dB·Oe).

Аннотация: A new planar resonator design in which a single conductor is replaced by three parallel stripe conductors located one above the other on a suspended two-layer substrate is proposed. It is shown that the resonator longitudinal sizes can be significantly reduced and, at the same time, the resonator intrinsic Q factor and frequencies of higher oscillation modes can be increased. A fourth-order bandpass filter with a central frequency of the transmission band (relative width 5%) of 1 GHz has been developed and fabricated. This filter has a -100-dB rejection band up to frequencies exceeding 10 GHz. The filter is enclosed in a metallic case with an internal size of 38 x 12 x 7.5 mm. It is shown that a similar filter fabricated in accordance with low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technology has a -40-dB rejection band up to 30 GHz, with sizes reduced to 5.0 x 4.25 x 1.24 mm.

Аннотация: A multilayered, multi-conductor stripline resonator is proposed. It is shown that increase in the number of conductors leads to increase the unloaded Q-factor and decrease the resonant frequency, with increasing the effects for thinner dielectric interlayer. Application of the resonator to the bandpass filter enables designing bandpass filters with very wide and deep stopbands. To prove this, a 4-pole bandpass filter, having central frequency 360 MHz and an overall size of 15.5 × 31.75 × 8.45 mm3, was designed and fabricated.

Аннотация: This paper presents the results of investigation of nonlinear properties for plasma antenna vibrator with a length of 330 mm and a diameter of 12.7 mm based on commercial luminescent lamp filled with argon gas. The investigation was carried out in the frequency range of 10 MHz-3 GHz. The vibrator was found to have a half-wave resonance at a frequency of about 280 MHz, that is, 1.6 times lower than that for half-wave resonance for a metal rod antenna of the same length. It is shown that inside the vibrator, a generation of second and third harmonics exists, whose power goes up as a second and third order of incoming power on the carrier frequency. For an incoming signal with level of +30 dBm, it was found that the second harmonic is -34.7 dBc, and the third is -45 dBc. The existence of higher harmonics as a feature of plasma medium can be a limitation for transmitter power when such a type of vibrator will be used as a transmitting antenna. In addition, the applied technique in the investigation, when the vibrator is connected with weak coupling in the measuring circuit, can be employed for the study of nonlinear properties for the plasma medium.

Аннотация: A novel compact microstrip resonator based on interdigital structure is proposed. The resonator has several times higher quality factor than similar resonators presented earlier. It is shown that the size of the resonator can be significantly reduced with substantial increase in quality factor by incrementing the number of pins in the interdigital structure. A 4-pole bandpass filter with central frequency 900 MHz and an overall size 4.6 mm × 10.0 mm was designed and fabricated on the base of the proposed structure. The measured upper stopband of the filter was found to be up to 7.4fo at the level -40 dB.

Аннотация: This paper proposes a miniature microwave bandpass filter. It comprises quasi-lumped suspended substrate stripline resonators of a new type. Their common substrate consists of two contiguous dielectric layers. Every resonator in the filter has three parallel strip conductors. Two of them are placed on the outer substrate surfaces and the rest is placed inside the substrate. The filter of the sixth order was designed with the use of special optimization rules that are universal for all resonator filters. The substrate of the fabricated filter was made of RT/Duroid 5880 (εr = 2.2, tan δ = 0.002) with thickness of 0.127 mm. It has dimensions of 12mm x 45:5 mm. The measured passband has a center frequency of 1.01 GHz, 3-dB fractional bandwidth of 11%, and minimum insertion loss of 1.4 dB. The 100-dB upper stopband extends up to 10.5 GHz.

Аннотация: A novel multimode resonator is proposed, containing five resonant modes that are incorporated in the passband forming. The structure is based on a dielectric substrate suspended in a metallic case that allows solving the problem of electromagnetic compatibility. Due to features of the resonator's structure, several higher modes do not excite that significantly improves the performance of the filter's stopband. The resonator advantages are proved on the bandpass filter (3.1…10.6 GHz) with a small overall size (0.19λ0 × 0.11λ0 × 0.11λ0) and a good stopband performance (first spurious band locates at 29 GHz and suppression is 70 dB).
