Аннотация: A study is reported of the structural, magnetic, and magneto-optic properties of Mn/Dy/Bi films obtained by multilayer technology. The maximum Kerr rotation angle in such films is shown to be theta(k) = 2.25 degrees. Possible reasons for such a large Kerr effect enhancement are considered, namely, an increase in the 6p - 3d transition probability caused by symmetry distortion, polarization of the Bi6p band, and a change in the density of states near the Fermi level. The latter reason has been analyzed by simulating the electronic structure of Mn/Dy/Bi through superposition of Dy levels on the MnBi band structure. This approach has revealed possible additional transitions which may be induced by the presence of a Dy buffer and could contribute to the Kerr magneto-optic effect. Аннотация: The optimum parameters of a dielectric layer near the substrate in the interference multilayer structure are calculated. The calculations showed that this layer should have the index of refraction n similar to 3. The results are presented of measuring the Kerr angle of magnetooptical rotation in the multilayer structure, in which GeO films were used as dielectric layers for the first time. The maximum Kerr angle of rotation and magnetooptical quality observed in this system were 0.75 degrees and 0.34 degrees, respectively. These values exceed those inherent in the known information carriers, which demonstrates the advantage of this structure for use in magnetooptical discs. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The effect alkali reagents have on the crystal structure of CoP films prepared via chemical deposition is investigated. It is shown that the use of sodium hydrogen carbonate and ammonium hydroxide in low concentrations leads to growth of the hexagonal phase in the films. As the concentration of alkali reagents is increased, the formation of a cubic or amorphous phase is observed. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.

Аннотация: The displacement field of the hysteresis loop due to exchange anisotropy in planar DyCo/NiFe systems is studied experimentally as a function of the concentration of the rare-earth element. The bilayer DyCo/NiFe film system is characterized by an orthogonal arrangement of the effective magnetizations of separate layers under the condition that the amorphous DyCo layer is prepared in the region of magnetic compensation. An analysis of the dependence of the displacement field on the Dy concentration has led to an understanding of the physical mechanism of the formation of the exchange anisotropy in these planar systems. Аннотация: The Faraday effect (FE) was studied in Co-Sm-O composite films consisting of nanoparticles of metallic cobalt embedded in a samarium oxide dielectric matrix. The volume of the magnetic phase was similar to 60%. The FE spectral dependence for the condensates studied revealed a substantial change as compared to that for bulk cobalt samples, as well as for the films of nanocrystalline Co and CoSm films prepared in this study. An enhancement of the FE was also observed in the short-wavelength part of the optical spectrum. (c) 2005 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: A method is described of preparing targets for sputtering, which involves the use of plasma deposition of respective powders onto a cooled metal plate. It is demonstrated that the use of plasma technology enables one to produce, in a controlled atmosphere, intricately shaped ceramic targets characterized by a highly uniform composition and by reliable mechanical and thermal contact of the resultant coating with the holder plate. Experiments are performed on the sputtering of targets to prepare polycrystalline ferrite films for magnetooptical applications and epitaxial films of high-temperature superconductors. Аннотация: The standing spin wave spectra of Ni0.8Fe0.2(1000-3000 Angstrom)/(Dy1-xCox (700 Angstrom) bilayer exchange-biased films with two different (precompensation Dy0.2Co0.8 and postcompensation Dy0.3Co0.7) compositions of the hard magnetic layer are analyzed. Measurements are performed at room temperature. It is found that the effective magnetic layer thickness (d(eff) = d(0) +/- Deltad), which determines the wave vectors of the first modes in the spectrum, differs from the d(0) value specified in film technology. The sign of \Deltad\ similar to 500 Angstrom is governed by the composition of the DyCo hard magnetic layer. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The parameters of the transition layer in exchange-biased film structures are necessary agents to understand the mechanism of formation of unidirectional anisotropy. The layer thickness in NiFe/DyCo films has been determined by comparison of signals of the polar magneto-optical Kerr effect from a reference DyCo film and a hard magnetic layer of the exchange-biased structure. The layer thickness obtained is one order of magnitude larger than that characteristic of ferromagnet-antiferromagnet bilayer films. The mechanism of magnetization reversal of the structure under study has been explained within the model suggesting the formation of 180A degrees boundaries in the interface.

Аннотация: Dependence of the magnetic and magnetooptical properties of an exchange-coupled NiFe/DyCo bilayer system on the thickness (t (DyCo)) of a magnetically hard layer has been studied. It is established that the unidirectional anisotropy vanishes at t (DyCo) similar to 400 , while the coercive field in the magnetically soft layer becomes comparable to the exchange-induced field shift. In this case, the DyCo layer magnetization is almost parallel to the film plane, whereas a reference DyCo film exhibits a perpendicular anisotropy. A model of the magnetic state of layers in the ferro/ferrimagnetic layer structure under consideration is proposed, which assumes that a 180A degrees domain wall is formed at the interface upon magnetization reversal in the magnetically soft layer.

Аннотация: Experimental results that are obtained in the process of the explosive crystallization of x-ray amorphous films Fe2Tb and CoPd with magnetic anisotropy perpendicular to the film plane are reported. Аннотация: This paper reports on the results of experimental investigations of the magnetic properties of a trilayer system that consists of high-coercive polycrystalline and low-coercive amorphous magnetic Co-P layers and a nonmagnetic amorphous Ni-P interlayer. It has been established that the coercive force and the bias field of the hysteresis loop of the low-coercive layer undergo anomalous changes in the range of small thicknesses of the hard magnetic layer. In the same range of thicknesses, a magnetic aftereffect is found to manifest itself, which is unusual for this type of magnetic structures. The observed features are associated primarily with the kinetics of formation of a crystal structure of the high-coercive layer.

Аннотация: Features in the formation of chemically deposited polycrystalline Co-P films with thicknesses of a few nanometers are established by analyzing film surface morphology and variation in the film magnetization. It is shown that in the thickness range below 30 nm the polar Kerr effect value OK changes nonmonotonically and depends on a wavelength of the incident light. For the films thicker than 30 nm, this value depends weakly on both the thickness and the wavelength. These features in the OK behavior are attributed to the Faraday effect, which is revealed at small thicknesses upon light reflection from the lower surface of a magnetic layer. It is found that the Faraday effect in the Co-P films exceeds that in the Co films by a factor of more than two. This effect is assumed to be caused by the presence of a Pd underlayer in the samples under study. (C) 2011 Elsevier BY. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The magnetic and magneto-optical properties of ion-synthesized cobalt nanoparticles in the amorphous silicon oxide matrix are investigated as a function of the implantation dose. The analysis of the field dependences of the magnetization and the magneto-optical Faraday and Kerr effects demonstrates that, as the ion implantation dose increases, the superparamagnetic behavior of an ensemble of cobalt nanoparticles at room temperature gives way to a ferromagnetic response with the anisotropy characteristic of a thin magnetic film. The magnetization curves for the superparamagnetic and ferromagnetic ensembles of cobalt nanoparticles are simulated to determine their average sizes and the filling density in the irradiated layer of the silicon dioxide matrix. It is revealed that the spectral dependences of the Faraday and Kerr effects for ion-synthesized cobalt nanoparticles differ substantially from those for continuous cobalt films due to the localized excitations of free electrons in the nanoparticles.

Аннотация: Features of the formation of chemically deposited polycrystalline Co-P films with nanometer thicknesses are established by magnetic measurements and analysis of film surface morphology. It is found that the specific value of the magnetooptical Faraday effect in Co-P films exceeds that in Co films by a factor of more than two. This is attributed to the magnetic polarization of a Pd underlayer. It is shown the Kerr effect in Co films is negligibly influenced by the embedding of phosphorus. © 2012 Allerton Press, Inc.
