Аннотация: A new concept for a device for protecting an alternating-current network is offered. It is based on a combination of a superconducting limiter of a short-circuit current and a circuit breaker. A high-temperature superconductor in the form of a pile of plane rings is used as the active element of the limiter. The test results of a model of such a limiter are obtained in the steady-state short-circuit regime. The characteristics of composite silverless materials used for design of the breaker are given. Аннотация: The hysteretic behavior of magnetoresistance R(H) of the granular high-temperature superconductor (HTS) HoBa2Cu3O7 – δ has been investigated. The YBCO superconductors with a rare-earth element (Nd, Ho, Er, Sm, Yb, or Dy) with the magnetic moment in the yttrium site are characterized by a significant paramagnetic contribution to the total magnetization. The main goal of this study has been to establish the possible effect of this paramagnetic contribution on the magnetotransport properties, which are determined by tunneling of superconducting current carriers through the grain boundaries. An analysis of the results obtained basing on the concept of an effective field in the intergrain medium showed that the distribution of the magnetic induction lines from the paramagnetic moments is fundamentally different from that of the Meissner currents and Abrikosov vortices. The magnetic induction lines from the paramagnetic moments are not concentrated in the region of grain boundaries and therefore insignificantly affect the magnetotransport properties of a granular HTS. At the same time, the magnetic induction lines are strongly concentrated in the grain boundaries, which is caused by the Meissner currents and Abrikosov vortices, due to the features of their properties. Specifically, the magnetic flux compression determines the magnetotransport (in particular, the R(H) hysteresis) properties of granular HTSs, including 1–2–3 ones, with a rare-earth ion with the magnetic moment.

Аннотация: Синтезированы образцы YBa2Cu3O7–δ —CuO композитов с содержанием наночастиц CuO плазменно-дугового синтеза 0,5; 1,0; 2,0; 5,0; 10; 15; 20; 24%. Анализ магнитных свойств проведен в рамках расширенной модели критического состояния. Обнаружено увеличение внутригранульной плотности критического тока в образцах с содержанием наночастиц CuO 0,5%, 1% и 20%, 24% по сравнению с реперным образцом. Предложены механизмы влияния нанодобавок на изменение плотности критического тока в зависимости от объемного содержания нано-CuO.

Аннотация: YBa2Cu3O7 – δ–CuO composites with CuO particle contents of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10, 15, 20, and 24% were produced via arc plasma synthesis. Their magnetic properties were analyzed in the context of the expanded critical state model. In comparison with a reference sample, the critical current intragranular density increased in composites with CuO concentrations of 0.5, 1, 20, and 24%. The mechanisms of the influence of nanodopants on the change in the critical current density at various volume contents of nano-CuO were proposed as well.

Аннотация: The magnetoresistance of the textured high-temperature superconductor (HTSC) Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox + Ag has been studied at different directions of the transport current I and external magnetic field H with respect to crystallographic directions of HTSC crystallites. When I and H are oriented along the ab planes of crystallites and φ is the angle between H and I, the anisotropic part of the magnetoresistance follows the functional dependence sin2φ, which is characteristic of vortex flows under Lorentz forces. The magnetoresistance R at H parallel to the c axis of crystallites (H || c) is higher than R at H || ab for both cases of I || c and I || ab. The anisotropy coefficient γ ≈ 2.3 has been estimated from the scaling of the dependences R(H) measured at H || c and H || ab. The inclusion of the magnetic field induced by the transport current allows scaling of the dependences R(H) at different values of I. A qualitative picture of the current flow along the c axis of crystallites in the textured HTSC has been proposed. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: Composites with a network of "superconductor-normal metal-superconductor" (S-N-S) weak links are prepared from a Y 3/4LU1/4Ba2Cu3O7 high-temperature superconductor and BaPb1-xSnxO 3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) metal oxides. It is found that an increase in the tin content x in the nonsuperconducting component of the composite leads to an increase in the electrical resistivity ρ and, hence, to a decrease in the mean free path l of charge carriers. The temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity ρ(T) and critical current jC(T) of the composites are analyzed in the framework of the de Gennes theory of S-N-S junctions. It is demonstrated that the network of weak links in the composites is characterized by a crossover from the "clean" limit (l ≥ L) to the "dirty" limit (l ≤ L) (where L is the effective thickness of N interlayers between high-temperature superconductor grains). © 2004 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The temperature evolution of the current-voltage (I-U) characteristic of a contact of the break-junction type with direct conduction is investigated on a polycrystalline HTSC of the Y-Ba-Cu-O system. The experimental I-U characteristics possessing a hysteresis are correctly described in the framework of the Kummel-Nicolsky theory for an S-N-S contact (S stands for a superconductor; N, for a normal metal) in which the Andreev reflection of quasiparticles from the N-S interface is considered. It is shown that the shape of the I-U curve, as well as the existence of a hysteresis, is determined by the ratio of the number of "long" and "short" intergranular boundaries in the polycrystal under investigation. The coincidence of the calculated and experimental I-U curves made it possible to estimate the effective length of "natural" intergranular boundaries in polycrystalline HTSC materials. The estimate is obtained from the experimental temperature dependence of the critical current in the sample under investigation. (C) 2002 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The temperature evolution of the current-voltage characteristic (CVC) of a "break junction" with metal-type conductivity on the polycrystalline La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 high-temperature superconductor is investigated. The CVC exhibits gap peculiarities and hysteresis, which is observed in the region of negative differential resistance. The experimental results are described well in terms of the Kummel-Gunsenheimer-Nicolsky theory for an S-N-S junction (S is a superconductor, N is a normal metal) this theory takes into account multiple Andreev reflection of quasiparticles. It is shown that the shape of the CVC and the existence and the shape of hysteresis are determined by the ratio of "long" and "short" grain boundaries in the polycrystal under investigation. Аннотация: A new method of fabricating textured ceramics with a composition of Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox is described, according to which the initial low-density ceramics is subjected to uniaxial pressing in a liquid medium followed by drying and annealing. Analysis of the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy data show evidence for a high degree of texture in high-temperature superconductor ceramics fabricated using the proposed method. The results of magnetic measurements indicate that the obtained material possesses anisotropy of the magnetic moment for the magnetic field H oriented parallel and perpendicular to the direction of uniaxial pressing. The textured ceramics also show high diamagnetic response for H parallel to the c axis of grains, which makes these ceramics promising materials for practical applications.

Аннотация: The current-voltage characteristics of a porous superconductor Bi(2)Sr(2)Ca(2)Cu(3)O (x) (Bi2223) have been measured at temperatures in the range from 10 to 90 K in magnetic fields of 0-80 kOe. The experimental dependences have been analyzed within the model allowing for pinning by clusters of a normal phase with fractal boundaries, as well as the model taking into account phase transformations of vortex matter. It has been found that the electrical resistance of the superconductor material significantly increases at temperatures of 60-70 K over the entire range of magnetic fields under consideration without changing in the sign of the curvature of the dependence R(I). It has been assumed that this behavior is associated with the specific feature of the pinning in a highly porous high-temperature superconductor, which lies in the fractality of the distribution of pinning centers in a wide range of self-similarity scales. The studied material at the aforementioned temperatures is characterized by the melting of the vortex structure.
