Аннотация: A comparative analysis was carried out of the initiation temperatures of solid-phase reactions in bilayer solid films and the Kurnakov temperatures of the phases forming in the reaction products. It has been shown that in superstructures where ordering is usually observed, the Kurnakov temperature coincides with the initiation temperature of the solid-phase reactions if no other solid-phase structural transformation precedes the order-disorder phase transition in the state diagram. A rule was proposed by which pairs of films capable of entering into solid-phase reactions and their initiation temperatures can be determined. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The magnetic and resonance properties of CoNi(P) alloys, synthesized by chemical deposition as films on single crystal silicon substrates and as filaments in linear pores of porous silicon substrates, were studied by magnetization and ferromagnetic resonance measurements. It is established that CoNi(P) alloys of the same composition but different morphologies occur in states characterized by different degrees of nonequilibrium, which is manifested by different modes of the magnetization approach to saturation. Аннотация: The crystal structure of the thin films of metastable Co13Cu87 alloy prepared by magnetron sputtering was investigated by transmission electron microscope. As-deposited films have a nanocrystal structure with an fcc lattice. As a result of the prolonged ion polishing with a beam of Ar ions with the energy of 4.7 keV, the four-layer 4H dhcp structure was formed. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The importance of studying Fe-Mn-C alloys is related to their wide use as constructional materials in mechanical engineering. In this work an effort has been made to elucidate the physical origin of the magnetization in austenitic steels by calculating the electronic structure of grain boundaries. To theoretically investigate the magnetic properties of a crystal of ferromagnetic bcc iron, the wave functions of the iron atom calculated in view of the spin polarization of a core by the Hartree-Fock method with local exchange-correlation potentials have been used as base functions. This has made it possible to optimize the choice of a zero approximation for the description of the electronic states of ferromagnetic iron and to attain good agreement with the experimental values of the magnetic moment (A mu(theor) = 2.23A mu(B), A mu(exp) = 2.218A mu(B)), of the exchange splitting of the crystal term P-4 (Delta(theor) = Delta(exp) = 0.112 Ry), and of the cross-sections of the Fermi surface. A similar approach has been used to investigate the magnetic states of clusters (nanoclusters) based on the method of scattered waves. The approach developed for clusters of the alloy under investigation makes it possible to calculate the alloy magnetic properties in relation to the cluster size for a varied lattice parameter.

Аннотация: The solid-phase synthesis in epitaxial Mn/Fe(001) bilayer film systems with 24 at % of Mn has been shown to start at a temperature of 220A degrees C with the formation of a gamma-austenite lattice and the Mn and Fe films react completely under annealing to 600A degrees C. In the sample cooling process after annealing below 220A degrees C, the gamma austenite undergoes a martensitic transformation to an oriented a(100) martensite. When the annealing temperature is increased above 600A degrees C, Mn atoms migrate from the gamma-lattice, which becomes unstable, and the film is partially again transformed to the epitaxial Fe(001) layer. The solid-phase synthesis in Mn/Fe(001) bilayer nanofilms and multilayers is assumingly determined by the inverse epsilon - gamma martensitic transformation in the Mn-Fe system. The existence of a new low-temperature (similar to 220A degrees C) structure transition in the Mn-Fe system with a high iron content is assumed.

Аннотация: The effect of an inert Co layer (0, 210, 480 nm) on the chemical interaction between Cu and Au in Au/beta-Co(001)/Cu(001) epitaxial films has been investigated by X-ray diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance, photoelectron spectroscopy, and magnetic structure measurements. Mixing at interfaces in Cu/beta-Co(001) and Au/beta-Co(001) bilayer films has not been revealed up to a temperature of 600 C. The solid-state synthesis of ordered CuAu| and CuAu|| phases occurs through the Co inert buffer layer in Au/beta-Co(001)/Cu(001) trilayer film systems with an increase in the annealing temperature. The initiation temperatures of the CuAu| and CuAu|| phases increase only slightly with the thickness of the Co buffer layer. The assumption of the long range of the chemical interaction between Cu and Au through the chemically inert Co layer is justified using the performed investigations.

Аннотация: This paper reports on a study of multilayer Co/Cu films with an effective thickness of the Co layer of similar to 3.5 , which were prepared by magnetron sputtering. The samples prepared have been found to have a metastable multiphase structure. An analysis of the data obtained by structural and, primarily, by magnetic methods has revealed that the main phases are the Co/Cu supersaturated solid solution (alloy) with a Co concentration of about 30 at %, the superparamagnetic phase, and the paramagnetic phase, which is accounted for by the presence of small (a few atoms at most) Co clusters embedded in the Cu matrix. A clearly pronounced maximum in the temperature dependences of the low-field magnetoresistance has been found, which is associated with the temperature of the magnetic phase transition of the supersaturated Co-Cu alloy.

Аннотация: In the paper, we will present experimental results on the Fe 73.5CuNb3Si13.5B9 ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) line width as a function of annealing conditions, as well as the annealing-temperature dependence of the crystallite size, coercive force, and the magnetic anisotropy field. We shall show the interrelationship of these quantities, demonstrate that these parameters are all traceable to the nanoparticle crystallization, and indicate how they can be examined by extending the random anisotropy theory. To obtain quantitative parameters of random magnetic anisotropy we investigate the magnetization curves approaching saturation. This technique allows one to quantitatively determine the local magnetic anisotropy field (Ha) and magnetic anisotropy correlation radius (Rc), as well as to estimate the averaged magnetic anisotropy field (?Ha?L) and ferromagnetic correlation radius (RL).

Аннотация: The bulk nanostructured Co-P alloys were prepared by dynamic compaction and a plasma spray deposition techniques. The magnetic characteristics, such as the saturation magnetization, M 0, the Bloch constant, B, the local magnetic anisotropy field, H a, the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, ?H, the coercivity, H c, were investigated.
