Аннотация: A new method for the quantitative estimate of the phase composition of a multiphase ferromagnetic alloy is suggested that is based on measuring the temperature and field dependences of the magnetization. The phase composition of ultrafine Co-P powders is characterized. Phase diagrams of nonequilibrium Co-P solid solutions are constructed on particle size, i.e., the phosphorus concentration coordinates.

Аннотация: The cobalt (Co)–tungsten (W) alloys exhibit unique combinations of mechanical and magnetic properties, biocompatibility, resistance against corrosion, wear, and high-temperature, which makes them desirable materials for various practical applications. A nanoporous template with incorporated Co–W alloy nanowires is a soft magnetic composite, whose dielectric and magnetic properties can be tuned through the host material, pore distribution and size, Co–W composition and crystal structure, and geometry of the nanowires. Here, we report the composition-dependent structural and magnetic properties of Co–W alloy nanowires embedded in alumina templates by electrodeposition. The addition of W transforms cobalt from the crystalline hexagonal-close-packed (hcp) Co to a mixed nanocrystalline/amorphous-like Co(W) solid solution with ferromagnetic behavior and composition similar to that of the weakly magnetic Co3W compound. The combination of the approach to magnetic saturation, anisotropy field distribution method, micromagnetic simulations, and first-order reversal curve diagram identification method elucidates the structure-driven magnetization reversal processes in both individual nanowires and magnetostatically coupled array as a whole.

Аннотация: In this paper, the influence of alternating current (ac) electrodeposition frequency and waveform is reported on chemical composition, microstructure and consequently magnetic properties of Co-Ni binary alloy nanowire arrays embedded in an alumina template. For sinusoidal and square electrodeposition waveforms the easy axis of magnetization rotates from being parallel to perpendicular orientation to nanowire long axis as the deposition frequency increases from 200 to 800 Hz. The reason for the drastic change of magnetic anisotropy in nanowires is attributed to the increase of cobalt content and the crystal structure phase transformation from fcc-hcp mixture at high Ni content to imp at high Co content. We explain the conversion of magnetic behavior of nanowire arrays in terms of a competition between the shape and magnetocrystalline anisotropies. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The structure and magnetic properties of CoPt–Al2O3 nanocomposite films synthesized by the annealing of Al/(Co3O4 + Pt) bilayers on a MgO(001) substrate at 650°C in vacuum are investigated. The synthesized composite films contain ferromagnetic CoPt grains with an average size of 25–45 nm enclosed in a nonconducting Al2O3 matrix. The saturation magnetization (Ms ~ 330 G) and coercivity (Hc ≈ 6 kOe) of the films are measured in the film plane and perpendicular to it. The obtained films are characterized by a spatial rotational magnetic anisotropy, which makes it possible to arbitrarily set the easy magnetization axis in the film plane or perpendicular to it using a magnetic field stronger than the coercivity (H ˃ Hc).

Аннотация: This paper reports on a study of multilayer Co/Cu films with an effective thickness of the Co layer of similar to 3.5 , which were prepared by magnetron sputtering. The samples prepared have been found to have a metastable multiphase structure. An analysis of the data obtained by structural and, primarily, by magnetic methods has revealed that the main phases are the Co/Cu supersaturated solid solution (alloy) with a Co concentration of about 30 at %, the superparamagnetic phase, and the paramagnetic phase, which is accounted for by the presence of small (a few atoms at most) Co clusters embedded in the Cu matrix. A clearly pronounced maximum in the temperature dependences of the low-field magnetoresistance has been found, which is associated with the temperature of the magnetic phase transition of the supersaturated Co-Cu alloy.

Аннотация: The deposition kinetics, structure and magnetic properties of electroless deposited films Ni-P were investigated depending on the amount of sodium hypophosphite in the electroless bath. It was found that the film deposition rate is linear and unambiguously varies with the hypophosphite content from 2 to 13 g/l and from 23 to 25 g/l. The deposition rate varies widely in the hypophosphite concentration range from 13 to 23 g/l. The films are composed of amorphous Ni-P phase and fcc Ni-P solid solution with phosphorus content from 1 to 4 at.% P according to X-ray diffraction. The partial amount of amorphous phase is increased with concentration of sodium hypophosphite. The ferromagnetic resonance field is independent on the concentration of sodium hypophosphite, which assumes to be result from the laminated allocation of the amorphous and fcc phases in the film. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Аннотация: A commercial ANSYS FE Code is employed for the simulation of the electromagnetic sheet-metal forming into a grooved die. An industrial pancake coil is considered as the forming tool. The deformation characteristics of the sheet (workpiece) as well as the electromagnetic parameters of the high-energy process are calculated numerically. An equivalent-circuit method is used to validate the electromagnetic model. The results from both analyses are in good agreement.

Аннотация: The importance of studying Fe-Mn-C alloys is related to their wide use as constructional materials in mechanical engineering. In this work an effort has been made to elucidate the physical origin of the magnetization in austenitic steels by calculating the electronic structure of grain boundaries. To theoretically investigate the magnetic properties of a crystal of ferromagnetic bcc iron, the wave functions of the iron atom calculated in view of the spin polarization of a core by the Hartree-Fock method with local exchange-correlation potentials have been used as base functions. This has made it possible to optimize the choice of a zero approximation for the description of the electronic states of ferromagnetic iron and to attain good agreement with the experimental values of the magnetic moment (A mu(theor) = 2.23A mu(B), A mu(exp) = 2.218A mu(B)), of the exchange splitting of the crystal term P-4 (Delta(theor) = Delta(exp) = 0.112 Ry), and of the cross-sections of the Fermi surface. A similar approach has been used to investigate the magnetic states of clusters (nanoclusters) based on the method of scattered waves. The approach developed for clusters of the alloy under investigation makes it possible to calculate the alloy magnetic properties in relation to the cluster size for a varied lattice parameter.

Аннотация: We report ferromagnetic and spin-wave resonance measurements on the electroless deposited thin films of Fe-Ni alloy including alloy with invar content. From spin-wave resonance spectrum we defined the dependences of resonance fields on the number of mode. Analysis of this spectrum shows that positions of resonance fields are described by the Kittel dispersion relation. The type and the size of magnetic heterogeneity is estimated by the spin-wave spectroscopy technique. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Аннотация: Nanostructured and amorphous materials exhibit unique and enhanced chemical, mechanical, and magnetic properties [1,2]. The industrial applications of these materials rely on their successful consolidation into bulk body while preserving their structures. Nanostructured and amorphous coatings without grain growth can be formed by plasma spray deposition [3-5]. In this case the microstructure of the bulk coating can be tuned from full amorphous state to composite with nano-crystalline particles in the amorphous matrix, and finally into nanostructured state accompanying with the magnetic properties changes. It was found [6] that the desired magnetic properties of Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11 bulk alloy (zero magnetostriction, high initial and maximum magnetic permeability, etc.) can be achieved by formation of coating with certain amorphous/crystalline phase ratio. In the present work, the role of the plasma spray deposition regimes in the control of microstructure and magnetic property of the bulk coating, the mechanism for the nanocrystalline and amorphous structure formation, and the relation between the microstructure and magnetic properties are discussed. © 2015 IEEE.

Аннотация: Solid state reactions between Ge and Mn films are systematically examined using X-ray diffraction, photoelectron spectroscopy, and magnetic and electrical measurements. The films have a nominal atomic ratio Ge:Mn = 20:80 and are investigated at temperatures from 50 to 500 °C. It is established that after annealing at ~ 120°C, the ferromagnetic Mn5Ge3 phase is the first phase to form at the 20Ge/80Mn interface. As the annealing temperature increases to 300°C, the weak magnetic Mn5Ge 2 + Mn3Ge phases simultaneously begin to grow and they become dominant at 400°C. Increasing the annealing temperature to 500°C leads to the formation of the ferromagnetic phase with a Curie temperature TC ~ 350-360 K and magnetization 14-25 kA/m at room temperature. The X-ray diffraction study of the samples shows the reflections from the Mn 5Ge3 phase, and the photoelectron spectra contain the oxygen and carbon peaks. The homogeneous distribution of oxygen and carbon over the sample thickness suggests that the increased Curie temperature and magnetization are related to the migration of C and O atoms into the Mn 5Ge3 lattice and the formation of the Nowotny phase Mn5Ge3CxOy. The initiation temperature (~ 120 C) is the same in the Mn5Ge3 phase with the solid-state reactions in the Ge/Mn films as well as in the phase separation in the GexMn1 - x diluted semiconductors. Thus, we conclude that the synthesis of the Mn5Ge3 phase is the moving force for the spinodal decomposition of the GexMn 1 - x diluted semiconductors.

Аннотация: The solid-state reaction between epitaxial hcp-Co (110) and fcc-Co (001) thin films and Pd layers was investigated at annealing temperatures between 250 and 650 °C using X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. No significant intermixing of the layers occurs at annealing temperatures below 400 °C. For the atomic composition 1Co:1Pd after annealing at 450 °C the disordered solid solution fcc-CoxPd1-x is formed on the Pd/hcp-Co (110) and Pd/fcc-Co (001) interfaces. Epitaxial relationships CoPd (110)〈-111〉 || MgO(001)〈100〉 and CoPd (001)〈100〉 || MgO(001)〈100〉 between the nucleated disordered phase CoPd and the substrate MgO(001) were determined for Pd/hcp-Co (110) and Pd/fcc-Co (001) bilayers, respectively. The first magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant of the disordered CoPd phase ​​K1CoPd = - (1.8 ± 0.4)·104 J/m3 for the (110) and (001) orientations was obtained.
