strong electronic correlations -- cuprates -- Hubbard model -- cluster perturbation theory
Аннотация: The physics of high-Tc superconducting cuprates is obscured by the effect of strong electronic correlations. One way to overcome this problem is to seek an exact solution at least within a small cluster and expand it to the whole crystal. Such an approach is at the heart of cluster perturbation theory (CPT). Here, we developed CPT for the dynamic spin and charge susceptibilities (spin-CPT and charge-CPT), with the correlation effects explicitly taken into account by the exact diagonalization. We applied spin-CPT and charge-CPT to the effective two-band Hubbard model for the cuprates obtained from the three-band Emery model and calculated one- and two-particle correlation functions, namely, a spectral function and spin and charge susceptibilities. The doping dependence of the spin susceptibility was studied within spin-CPT and CPT-RPA, that is, the CPT generalization of the random phase approximation (RPA). In the underdoped region, both our methods resulted in the signatures of the upper branch of the spin excitation dispersion with the lowest excitation energy at the (π,π) wave vector and no presence of low-energy incommensurate excitations. In the high doping region, both methods produced a low energy response at four incommensurate wave vectors in qualitative agreement with the results of the inelastic neutron scattering experiments on overdoped cuprates.

spin crossovers -- exchange interaction -- Bose condensationl -- spin excitons -- transition metal oxides -- rare earth cobaltites -- strong electron correlations -- antiferromagnetism -- ferromagnetism -- metal–insulator transition -- Earth's mantle -- Hubbard model
Аннотация: We present experimental and theoetical results of spin crossover studies in magnetically ordered materials. The effect of spin crossovers on the electronic structure of transition metal oxides and on the Bose condensation of spin excitons in the vicinity of the spin crossover is considered. A new method for calculating the interatomic superexchange interaction in transition metal oxides is discussed that allows considering selective contributions of excited magnetic cation terms. Changes in the exchange interaction sign are predicted for spin crossovers for d5—d7 ions. In the RCoO3 family of rare-earth cobaltites, the ground state is nonmagnetic, but, as the temperature increases, thermal excitations of high-spin states give rise to a number of experimentally detectable features. In defective RCoO3 samples, stabilization of the high-spin term and ferromagnetic ordering are possible. Dynamical crossovers under external pumping and the dynamics of multiplicity, magnetization, and local lattice distortions are discussed. Geophysical implications of spin crossovers are considered, and metallic properties of Earth's mantle at a depth of 1400—1800 km are predicted.

topological phases -- Dirac fermions -- Coulomb interaction -- strong correlations -- Majorana modes
Аннотация: Majorana corner modes have a number of advantages over the conventional Majorana states in terms of performing topologically protected quantum computations. However, the problem of the influence of Coulomb repulsion on higher-order phases, which inevitably arises when trying to implement such systems in practice, has been poorly studied. In this article, we analyze the features of a topological invariant describing the nontrivial phase with the corner modes for a two-dimensional two-orbital model of a hybrid structure in the regime of extremely strong electron correlations. For this purpose, approximate wave functions of the edge states with a linear dispersion law and the associated Dirac masses, which arise when superconducting pairing in the system is taken into account, are obtained.

orthoferrites -- X-ray powder diffraction -- crystal electric field parameters -- holmium orthoferrite -- magnetization temperature evolution -- CEF
Аннотация: The crystal structure and magnetic properties investigations of holmium orthoferrite compound HoFeO3 were performed in temperature range 7–300 K. Obtained XRD data confirm that HoFeO3 retains the orthorhombic perovskite structure of Pbnm space group. The crystal electric field (CEF) parameters of Ho3+ ion subsystem has been revealed numerically on the base of point charge model in the same temperature range. By this set of parameters CEF the splitting of Ho3+ energy levels was calculated and their temperature evolution was obtained. Modelling of isothermal magnetization M(H) with obtained set of parameters was carried out. Ho3+ single ion anisotropy due to CEF effects was demonstrated. Bulk magnetization evaluated from CEF was compared to experimental data.

superconducting nanowires -- Majorana zero modes -- strong electron correlations
Аннотация: For superconducting nanowire with the pairing of extended s-type symmetry, Rashba spin-orbit interaction in a magnetic field, the influence of strong intersite charge correlations on single-particle Majorana excitations is analyzed. This problem is investigated on the basis of the density matrix renormalization group numerical method. It is shown that with an increase in the repulsion intensity of electrons located at the neighboring sites, two subbands emerge in the lower Hubbard band of the open system. Based on calculations of the Majorana polarization and degeneracy of the entanglement spectrum, it was found that a topologically nontrivial phase with one edge state survives at the edge of each of the subbands where the concentration of electrons or holes is minimal.

low-dimensional system -- Majorana bound state -- spin-orbit coupling -- topological invariant -- Coulomb correlations -- noncollinear magnetism -- topological superconductivity -- quantum transport
Аннотация: We discuss the properties of topologically nontrivial superconducting phases and the conditions for their realization in condensed matter, the criteria for the appearance of elementary Majorana-type excitations in solids, and the corresponding principles and experimental methods for identifying Majorana bound states (MBSs). Along with the well-known Kitaev chain and superconducting nanowire (SW) models with spin-orbit coupling in an external magnetic field, we discuss models of quasi-two-dimensional materials in which MBSs are realized in the presence of noncollinear spin ordering. For finite-length SWs, we demonstrate a cascade of quantum transitions occurring with a change in the magnetic field, accompanied by a change in the fermion parity of the ground state. The corresponding anomalous behavior of the magnetocaloric effect can be used as a tool for identifying MBSs. We devote considerable attention to the analysis of the transport characteristics of devices that contain topologically nontrivial materials. The results of studying the conductance of an Aharonov-Bohm ring whose arms are connected by an SW are discussed in detail. An important feature of this device is the appearance of Fano resonances in the dependence of conductance on the magnetic field when the SW is in a topologically nontrivial phase. We establish a relation between the characteristics of such resonances and the spatial structure of the lowest-energy SW state. The conditions for the occurrence of an MBS in the phase of the coexistence of chiral d+id superconductivity and 120-degree spin ordering are determined in the framework of the t-J-V model on a triangular lattice. We take electron-electron interactions into account in discussing the topological invariants of low-dimensional superconducting materials with noncollinear spin ordering. The formation of Majorana modes in regions with an odd value of a topological ℤ invariant is demonstrated. The spatial structure of these excitations in the Hubbard fermion ensemble is determined.

Amorphous alloys -- Magnetic correlations -- Random magnetic anisotropy -- X-ray diffraction -- Exchange stiffness constant -- Kerr microscopy
Аннотация: Understanding the magnetic correlations in amorphous alloys is the key to enhancing their high soft magnetic properties. The magnetization correlations were studied in amorphous alloy ribbons Fe-Cu-Nb-Si-B by analysis of approach to magnetic saturation within the random magnetic anisotropy model. An unusual sequence of power laws during approach of the magnetization to saturation was observed. This may indicate the transition from isotropic to anisotropic magnetic correlations as the applied field decreases.

Majorana modes -- Quantum wires -- Strong electron correlations -- High spin polarization
Аннотация: For the 1D Hubbard model with spin-orbit coupling and proximity-induced s-wave superconductivity, the damping rates of quasiparticles are studied in the framework of density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) approach. It is shown that low-energy excitations belonging to the Hubbard bands are stable against strong electron interaction at the spin-polarized regime. In order to confirm this result analytically, the low-energy model of the strongly interacting spin-polarized nanowire was derived in the second order of perturbation theory. This model generalizes Kitaev chain, taking into account the hoppings and anomalous pairings in the secondary coordination spheres as well as terms describing charge correlations. The amplitudes of the latter ones are small, and the system can be effectively described by quadratic Hamiltonian supporting stable Majorana excitations, which confirms numerical calculations. The topological phase diagram of effective model is studied in the framework of mean-field approximation. The evolution of topological phase boundaries under increasing of charge correlations is studied, and the important role of the joint realization of different types of interactions is noted. The results obtained can be applied when describing the Al-EuS-InAs hybrid system, recently synthesized and studied in searching for Majorana bound states.
