Аннотация: An exact solution for a generalized Ising model describing single-chain magnet {[FeIII(Tp*)(CN)3]2FeII(bpmh)}·2H2O with alternating high-spin and low-spin iron ions and double-zigzag magnetic topology has been calculated making use of the transfer-matrix technique. The introduction of a statistical ensemble taking into account the presence of iron ions with high-spin (HS) and low-spin (LS) states made it possible to describe the modification of magnetic susceptibility under optical irradiation. It has been shown that joint implementation of iron ions with photoinduced magnetic states and non-magnetic intersite repulsion ions of these states is caused by the difference of the ionic radii of HSFeIIHSFeII and LSFeIILSFeII leads to the quantum phase transitions in the system.

Аннотация: We have developed the spin wave theory of Heisenberg magnets with strong single-ion anisotropy of arbitrary symmetry with two and more sublattices. Using this approach, the low-temperature magnetic properties of the single-chain magnet catena- [FeII(ClO4)2FeIII(bpca)2](ClO4) with four sublattices and twisting mutually orthogonal easy plane have been calculated. It has been shown that the modulation of the easy planes directions creates on the one hand the low-temperature excitation spectrum similar to the one of the Ising models, and on the other hand strong spin fluctuations.

Аннотация: New law of the approach to magnetic saturation is proposed based on scaling in ferromagnets with random magnetic anisotropy. This law is consistent with the known laws derived within perturbation theory in extreme cases, but it describes the transition mode between the power-low asymptotic regimes better. The improved law is proper for reliable fitting the approach magnetization to saturation in nanocrystalline and amorphous ferromagnets. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: Rapidly increasing demand for high-energy permanent magnets and volatility of the rear-earth market encourage a search of hard magnetic materials that can compete with those based on the Nd2Fe14B phase. Sm-Fe compounds with the ThMn12-type crystal structure are considered as promising candidates for it. However, their synthesis and achievement of theoretically predicted magnetic properties are still challenging tasks that have not been solved yet. This paper addresses this problem. Its aim was to synthesize and to study magnetic properties of the (Sm0.9Zr0.1)Fe11Ti compound with ThMn12-type structure. Initially amorphous alloy was obtained by melt spinning and its subsequent heat treatments were performed. Structural and phase transformations of the (Sm0.9Zr0.1)Fe11Ti alloy with annealing temperatures were studied along with magnetic properties. For the optimally annealed alloy features of magnetization reversal were discussed and temperature dependences of coercivity and maximum energy product were obtained.

Аннотация: Superconducting foams of YBa2Cu3Oy (YBCO) are proposed as trapped field magnets or supermagnets. The foams with an open-porous structure are light-weight, mechanically strong and can be prepared in large sample sizes. The trapped field distributions were measured using a scanning Hall probe on various sides of an YBCO foam sample after field-cooling in a magnetic field of 0.5 T produced by a square Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet. The maximum trapped field (TF) measured is about 400 G (77 K) at the bottom of the sample. Several details of the TF distribution, the current flow and possible applicatons of such superconducting foam samples in space applications, e.g., as active elements in flux-pinning docking interfaces (FPDI) or as portable strong magnets to collect debris in space, are outlined.

Аннотация: Samples of all the tailings from enrichment processes at the Abagur plant operated by OAO Evrazruda are studied. The tailings are subjected to magnetic and chemical analysis, and the magnetic characteristics of the products are measured. The mean magnetite iron content in the tailings was about 0.9% in 2013. Experiments confirm that the main magnetite losses are associated with small classes and their poor magnetic properties. The losses of magnetite are reduced as the separation field is increased. At the plant, 45% of the barium–ferrite magnetic systems in the PBM 90/250 separators have been replaced by a system based on neodymium–iron–boron composites, with increase in the field from 111 to 175 kA/m. Modernization of the magnetic systems in all the separators at the Abagur plant is recommended. In thickening, the installation of separators for regeneration of the suspensions, with a field of 190 kA/m, is recommended. After reconstruction, the losses of magnetite iron at the plant may be reduced to 0.45–0.55%. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.
