Аннотация: The microstructure and temperature of martensitic transformation of Ni44Fe19Ga27Co10 single crystals after aging at temperatures from 623 K to 1173 K were studied by electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The temperature ranges of the second phase precipitation, their lattice structure and volume fraction, and also the modification of the nanodomain structure of the L21+B2 high-temperature phase were determined in dependence on aging temperature. The influence of microstructure parameters on the martensitic transformation temperatures, transformation intervals and thermal hysteresis has been discussed.

Аннотация: The phases, microstructure, and magnetic properties in a severely deformed Cr-Ni–Al alloy have been studied. The eutectic microstructure observed in localized regions of the alloy can be interpreted as a result from the super-Arrhenius relaxation of the alloy. According to X-ray diffraction and magnetometry, the nanosized nickel inclusions in the matrix of the chromium-nickel γ-solid solution are formed. It is shown that, after severe (superplastic) deformation, a unidirectional magnetic anisotropy is induced, which may be associated with the antiferromagnetic coupling between the CrNi2 matrix and the nickel inclusions.

Аннотация: It is shown that in the chloroplast periodic structure with a defect, the resonant absorption of light can be implemented. It is found that the resonant light absorption depends significantly on the position of a defect. In terms of the absorption of light energy, an asymmetric resonator is more efficient than a symmetric one.

Аннотация: Copper electrodeposited composite coatings containing two types of aluminum-oxide powders with different dispersities (alumina Al2O3-1 and electroexplosive aluminum-oxide nanopowder Al2O3-2) are obtained during the work. The studies show that introducing the powders leads to a change in the microstructure of the composites and a change in the grain growth principles during the formation of the coatings. Refinement and ordering of the grain structure of the coatings occurs and twinning defects and texture are formed. The change in the formation of the microstructure of the composites leads to a change in some operational characteristics: an increase in the microhardness (by 10% in the composites with the addition of alumina and by more than 30% in the coatings with electroexplosive aluminum oxide) and ultimate tensile strength (by 20% in the composites with Al2O3-1 and almost 1.5-fold in the samples with Al2O3-2).

Аннотация: Biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoates, biopolymers of microbiological origin, formed by 3- and 4-hydroxybutyrate monomers P(3HB-co-4HB), were used to obtain nanomembranes loaded with drugs as cell carriers by electrospinning. Resorbable non-woven membranes from P(3HB-co-4HB) loaded with ceftazidime, doripinem, and actovegin have been obtained. The loading of membranes with drugs differently affected the size of fibers and the structure of membranes, and in all cases increased the hydrophilicity of the surface. The release of drugs in vitro was gradual, which corresponded to the Higuchi and Korsmeyer-Peppas models. Antibiotic-loaded membranes showed antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli, in which growth inhibition zones were 41.7 ± 1.1 and 38.6 ± 1.7 mm for ceftazidime and doripinem, respectively. The study of the biological activity of membranes in the NIH 3T3 mouse fibroblast culture based on the results of DAPI and FITC staining of cells, as well as the MTT test, did not reveal a negative effect despite the presence of antibiotics in them. Samples containing actovegin exhibit a stimulating effect on fibroblasts. Biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoates formed by 3-hydroxybutyrate and 4-hydroxybutyrate monomers provide electrospinning non-woven membranes suitable for long-term delivery of drugs and cultivation of eukaryotic cells, and are promising for the treatment of wound defects complicated by infection.

Аннотация: Superconducting YBa2Cu3Oy (YBCO) foams were prepared using commercial open-cell, polyurethane foams as starting material to form ceramic Y2 BaCuO5 foams which are then converted into superconducting YBCO by using the infiltration growth process. For modelling the supercon-ducting and mechanical properties of the foam samples, a Kelvin-type cell may be employed as a first approach as reported in the literature for pure polyurethane foams. The results of a first modelling attempt in this direction are presented concerning an estimation of the possible trapped fields (TFs) and are compared to experimental results at 77 K. This simple modelling revealed already useful information concerning the best suited foam structure to realize large TF values, but it also became obvious that for various other parameters like magnetostriction, mechanical strength, percolative current flow and the details of the TF distribution, a refined model of a superconducting foam sample incorporating the real sample structure must be considered. Thus, a proper description of the specific microstructure of the superconducting YBCO foams is required. To obtain a set of reliable data, YBCO foam samples were investigated using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). A variety of parameters including the size and shape of the cells and windows, the length and shape of the foam struts or ligaments and the respective intersection angles were determined to better describe the real foam structure. The investigation of the foam microstructures revealed not only the differences to the original polymer foams used as base material, but also provided further insights to the infiltration growth process via the large amount of internal surface in a foam sample.

Аннотация: The paper reports microstructures (revealed by transmission electron microscopy) in various zones of laser welds of the X70 and X80 low-carbon steels with different initial microstructures, as well as chemical and phase compositions. In the X70 steels with 0.13% C, the microstructure refinement has been achieved through helical rolling at temperatures of 920 °C and 850 °C (designated as X70-920 and X70-850, respectively). For all studied cases, both initial steel microstructures and phase compositions have determined the formation of different microstructures with various microhardness levels in the weld metal and heat-affected zones. For the X70-850 steel with a more dispersed and homogeneous microstructure (dF = 3.3 μm), a lower microhardness level of 340 HV has been observed in the weld metal, compared with the X70-920 one (dF = 5.5 μm, 370 HV). The reason has been the formation of both bainite and martensite laths in the X70-850 weld metal, while only lath and lamellar martensite has formed in the X70-920 one. For the X80 steel (0.55% C), lowering the carbon content and additional microalloying with chromium, molybdenum and nickel have enabled to decrease the microhardness level down to 295 HV in the weld metal due to the degenerate upper bainite formation and the carbon level reduction in martensite. The dispersed and homogeneous initial microstructures of the X70-850 and X80 steels has provided the formation of granular ferrite-bainite microstructures in the intercritical heat-affected zone. They have possessed a lower proportion of residual austenite regions and small sizes of twinned martensite areas. The welded X80 steel specimen has been characterized by higher ductile properties compared to both X70 ones.

Аннотация: FeNi films of different thickness and FeNi/(Fe, Co)/FeNi trilayers were prepared by magnetron sputtering deposition onto glass substrates. The permalloy films had a columnar microstructure. The detailed analysis of the magnetic properties based on the magnetic and magneto-optical measurements showed that at thicknesses exceeding a certain critical thickness, hysteresis loops acquire a specific shape and the coercive force of the films increase sharply. The possibility of the estimation of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant using the Murayama equation for the thickness dependence of saturation field was demonstrated. The results of studies of the structural and magnetic properties of FeNi films laminated by Fe and Co spacers with different thickness are presented.

Аннотация: The comparison between the magnetic properties of materials with different curvature and spatial distribution of nanograins, such as particles (3D spatial distribution) and multilayer films (2D) was carried out. Functionally graded Co(P)/Ni(P) and Co(P)/CoNi(P) specimens have been fabricated by electroless deposition. The magnetic and structural properties are characterized by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, ferromagnetic resonance spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer. It was demonstrated that the interaction between the Ni(P) core and Co(P) shell of particles could form the functionally graded materials with tailored structure and coercive force. Furthermore, it was found that the magnetic parameters (the local anisotropy field, ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, and coercivity) are mainly determined by the artificially created interface boundaries for all grains’ spatial distribution. The magnetic anisotropy field and coercivity of Co(P)/Ni(P) flat films were characterized by lower values than those for spherical shell of particles with the same composition, produced by the same method.

Аннотация: Purpose: To synthesize and investigate polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) with different monomer composition and percentages and polymer films prepared from them. Results: Various PHAs: homopolymer poly-3-hydroxybutyrate P(3HB) and 2-, 3-, and 4-component copolymers comprising various combinations of 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB), 3-hydroxyvalerate (3HV), 4-hydroxybutyrate (4HB), and 3-hydroxyhexanoate (3HHx) monomers were synthesized under specialized conditions. Relationships were found between the monomer composition of PHAs and their molecular-weight and thermal properties and degree of crystallinity. All copolymers had decreased weight average molecular weights, Mw (to 390–600 kDa), and increased values of polydispersity (3.2–4.6) compared to the P(3HB). PHA copolymers showed different thermal behavior: an insignificant decrease in Tmelt and the presence of the second peak in the melting region and changes in parameters of crystallization and glass transition. At the same time, they retained thermostability, and the difference between Tmelt and Tdegr was at least 100–120 °C. Incorporation of 4HB, 3HV, and 3HHx monomer units into the 3-hydroxybutyrate chain caused changes in the amorphous to crystalline ratio and decreased the degree of crystallinity (Cx) to 20–40%. According to the degree to which the monomers reduced crystallinity, they were ranked as follows: 4HB – 3HHx – 3HV. A unique set of films was produced; their surface properties and physical/mechanical properties were studied as dependent on PHA composition; monomers other than 3-hydroxybutyrate were found to enhance hydrophilicity, surface development, and elasticity of polymer films. Conclusion: An innovative set of PHA copolymers was synthesized and solution-cast films were prepared from them; the copolymers and films were investigated as dependent on polymer chemical composition. Results obtained in the present study contribute to the solution of a critical issue of producing degradable polymer materials.

Аннотация: The size of crystallites is one of the most important factors that determine the key characteristics of nanocrystalline thin magnetic films that make them very promising media for various applications. In this paper, using micromagnetic simulation, we study in detail the influence of the grain size on the magnetic microstructure of the films and its relation with high-frequency dynamics of magnetization. When the grain size exceeds some critical value Dcr, a sharp broadening and shift of the ferromagnetic resonance line are observed at certain frequencies of the alternating magnetic field. Using a two-magnon scattering model, it is shown that these effects are caused by the scattering of spin waves on the inhomogeneous stochastic magnetic structure—magnetization ripple. An expression for the determination of the critical size Dcr is obtained. The micromagnetic simulation results agree with the main conclusions of the static and dynamic theories of magnetization ripple and also confirmed by experimental data reported by other authors.

Аннотация: Ferrite-bainite microstructures and impact toughness of the X65 low-carbon microalloyed steel were investigated after helical rolling at 1000, 920, 850, and 810 °C followed by continuous cooling in air. After helical rolling at 1000 °C, granular bainite with large areas of the massive-shape martensite-austenite constituent (d = 1.5 μm) and a high fraction of twinned martensite (d › 2.0 μm) were observed in the steel. This caused a decrease in impact energy at low test temperatures (for example, 70 J at –70°С). Lowering the helical rolling temperature contributed to a reduction of dimensions of both ferrite-bainite and martensite-austenite constituent areas, as well as the replacement of the latter by a slender type one and an improvement in fracture toughness at the low temperatures. The highest impact energy level (210 J at –70 °C) was achieved after helical rolling at 850 °C due to the formation of a homogeneous microstructure, which included dispersed ferrite grains, granular bainite and small fractions of the slender type martensite-austenite constituent (d = 0.1–0.7 μm). In this case, areas of twinned martensite were absent.

Аннотация: The Sr1-xSmxTiO3 (х = 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, 0.2) strontium titanate solid solutions were prepared from oxides and carbonates using a conventional ceramic technology based on the mechanochemical activation. The electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient of the synthesized compounds were measured in the temperature range from 300 to 800 K. We found that the properties of the samples significantly depend on the preliminary mechanochemical activation. The thermoelectric power factor attains maximum value in the hydrogen reduced samples with concentration of х = 0.05 and 0.075 obtained from nanoparticles: 5.5 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.95Sm0.05TiO3 (580 K) and 4.10 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.925Sm0.075TiO3 (650 K). An increase in the annealing temperature of mechanically activated samples leads to an even greater increase in electrical conductivity and power factor: 9.2 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.925Sm0.075TiO3 (650 K).

Аннотация: The phase transformations of the Co lattice are discussed, which determine the anomalous changes in the magnetic properties of chemically deposited Co-P films obtained at various pH values. The coercivity of the H-c films obtained at low pH values exceeds 1 kOe and decreases to several units Oe in the films obtained at high pH values. It is shown that the observed changes in the magnetic properties of Co-P films are caused by the transition of the cobalt crystal lattice to the nanocrystalline state.Обсуждаются фазовые превращения решетки Co, которые определяют аномальные изменения магнитных свойств химически осажденных пленок Co-P, полученных при различных значениях pH. Коэрцитивная сила пленок, полученных при низких значениях pH, превышает 1 кЭ и снижается до нескольких единиц Э в пленках, полученных при высоких значениях pH. Показано, что наблюдаемые изменения магнитных свойств пленок Co-P вызваны переходом кристаллической решетки кобальта в нанокристаллическое состояние.

Аннотация: Microstructure of laser welds of the X70 low-carbon pipe steel was studied. High cooling rates after laser welding and non-uniform distribution of carbon in the ferrite-pearlite base metal caused formation of regions with increased microhardness (up to 650 НV) in inter-critical heat affected zone (ICHAZ). These regions consisted of finely dispersed degenerate upper bainite and martensite-austenite constituents of a slender shape and small fraction of a massive shape along the boundaries of bainite laths, as well as twinned martensite. High concentration of martensite-austenite constituents (10–16%) and residual stresses in ICHAZ, as well as a dendritic martensitic structure with carbide interlayers along the boundaries of martensite laths in fusion zone were the main reasons of sharp decrease in charpy impact energy of the welded samples. High microhardness of the laser welds was decreased down to 320 HV and their brittleness was improved by annealing. Also, in ICHAZ, degenerate upper bainite and the regions of martensite-austenite constituents decayed forming tempered sorbite and Fe2C and Fe3C carbides, respectively. Charpy impact energy of the welds doubled after annealing compared to the welds without annealing, and ductile-brittle transition temperature decreased down to –60°С.

Аннотация: In this paper, the heat affected zone (HAZ) of laser welded joints of the X70 steel were studied by the transmission electron microscopy method. The effect of the initial microstructure (coarse-grained hot-rolled and fine-grained after cross-helical rolling) on the HAZ formation and the mechanical characteristics of the welded joints were shown. It was found that the microstructure in the inter-critical HAZ of the steel after cross-helical rolling was more dispersed, homogeneous, and uniform compared to that of the coarse-grained hot-rolled one due to the initial fine-grained ferrite-bainitic-pearlite microstructure and the absence of pronounced ferrite-pearlite banding in the base metal. The character of the microhardness value distribution in the HAZ of the steel after cross-helical rolling was smooth with the gradual decrease from 370 down to 185 HV as shifted towards the base metal. In the HAZ of the coarse-grained hot-rolled steel, the heterogeneous microhardness value (up to 640–670 НV) distribution was revealed. The reason was the upper degenerate bainite microstructure with high residual stresses, characterized by laths up to 2.0–2.5 μm long and a high martensitic-austenitic constituent fraction (10–16%) of a slender shape along the boundaries of bainite laths. The conclusion was drawn that one of the ways to reduce the brittleness of the laser welded joints could be using the initially fine-grained steels possessing the homogeneous (mainly bainitic) microstructure.

Аннотация: In this work, the thermomechanical stability of heterophase [001]-oriented Ti–51.5 at % Ni single crystals was investigated. Experiments include a high-temperature and high-stress martensite ageing and also loading/unloading cycling at superelasticity (SE) during forward and reverse B2-B19′ martensitic transformations (MT). It was found that Ti–51.5 at % Ni single crystals containing large Ti3Ni4 particles (d ∼ 600 nm after ageing at 850 K for 1 h) is not resistant to stress-assisted martensite ageing and cycling. Stress-assisted martensite ageing at 423 K, 1.7–2 GPa, for 2–4 h leads to the deformation of large Ti3Ni4 particles, the appearance of dislocations at the particle-matrix boundaries, an increase in MT temperatures (by 10 K), and a strong diffusion of the MT (the intervals of forward and reverse MT Δσ1 and Δσ2 increase in 2 times). During loading/unloading cycling at 423 K and 1.0–2.0 GPa single crystals with large particles were destroyed after 20–25 cycles. It is possible to increase the thermomechanical stability due to the additional precipitation of nanosized Ti3Ni4 particles (d‹30 nm by ageing at 673 K, 1 h), which appear in the B2 matrix between large particles. In such crystals with a bimodal structure no changes in the microstructure and functional properties were observed after stress-assisted martensite ageing and loading/unloading cycling.

Аннотация: The bulk soft magnetic glassy Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11 alloy specimens have been prepared by plasma spray deposition. In order to increase resistivity of the material, the bulk Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11-Al2O3 composite materials were fabricated. The investigations of structure and magnetic properties of the bulk samples were carried out by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and magnetic measurements. The relation of the structural features and magnetic characteristics of the bulk coating to the main parameters of the deposition regimes was determined. Optimized plasma spray deposition parameters allowed obtaining bulk glassy samples with magnetic parameters that are not inferior to the characteristics of a thermally treated rapidly quenched ribbon with the same composition. It was found that the bulk amorphous coatings can be characterized as a heterophase system. The relaxation annealing of the Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11 bulk coating leads to a phase transition in this alloy in the precrystallization temperature range. The magnetic properties of the both kinds of coatings are correlated with changes in the microstructure. The appearance of nanocrystalline phase with TC640 K during relaxation heat treatment leads to a decrease of the coercivity and to an increase of the permeability. A comparison between the magnetic properties of the CoNiFe-BSi coating and (CoNiFe-BSi)-Al2O3, composite coating is carried out.
