Unique electromagnetic properties of such a metamaterial enable enhancement of frequency conversion and redirection of the signals which carry important information for environmental probing. Four-wave mixing process allows for independent engineering of resonantly enhanced optical nonlinearities and negative refractive index. © 2014 SPIE.

Аннотация: The correlation of the electrical, magnetic, and structural properties of Bi2(Sn1 − xCrx)2O7 solid solutions has been investigated for two compositions with x = 0.05 and 0.1. The temperatures of structural phase transitions and anomalies of the electrical resistance in the vicinity of these transitions at temperatures in the range 300 K ˂ T ˂ 1000 K have been determined using differential scanning calorimetry. It has been found that the thermoelectric power changes sign upon the polymorphic transition. The paramagnetic Curie temperature and the chromium-ion spin have been found from the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the range 4 K ˂ T ˂ 1000 K and from the field dependence of the magnetic moment in magnetic fields of up to 6 T.

Аннотация: A high-sensitivity magnetometer for simultaneous measurements of three components of a weak quasi-stationary or high-frequency magnetic-field vector was developed and investigated. Microstrip structures that are based on irregular resonators serve as the magnetometer transducers. An anisotropic thin-film magnetic structure is used as the sensing element. This structure consists of two thin magnetic films that are prepared by magnetron sputtering of a Ni75Fe25 permalloy target and separated by a silicon monoxide layer. It is demonstrated that the transducer exhibits the maximum sensitivity, when the easy magnetization axis of the film structure is orthogonal to the polarization direction of the pumping microwave magnetic field in the microstrip resonator and at an optimal value of a constant magnetic bias field and its optimal deflection from the pumping-field polarization direction which is parallel to it. The magnetometer is characterized by a wide dynamic range of measured magnetic fields, 10–10–10–4 Т, and a wide frequency range, 10–1–105 Hz. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The broadening of the resistive transition in magnetic field and isotherms of magnetoresistance of bulk composites Y-Ba-Cu-O + CuO have been studied. These composites exhibit large magneto-resistive effect in a wide temperature range below T (C) due to weakening of Josephson coupling in this system. The broadening of the resistive transition and magnetoresistance are explained well by the Ambegaokar-Halperin (AH) model for phase slip in Josephson junctions. The magnetic field dependence of pinning potential in the intergrain boundaries deduced from AH model found out to be similar to that of critical current of an array of Josephson junctions. The values of pinning energy point out that the large magneto-resistive effect observed in the composites results from flux flow-like processes at the intergrain boundaries.

Аннотация: The magnetoresistive properties of bulk YBCO + CuO and YBCO + BaPb0.75Sn0.25O3 composites for different orientations of external magnetic field H and macroscopic transport current j have been measured. Аннотация: A mechanism of unidirectional anisotropy formation in an exchange-coupled ferromagnetic-ferrimagnetic film structure with orthogonal effective magnetizations in the layers is investigated. The reason for unidirectional anisotropy is the magnetic heterogeneity of the ferrimagnetic layer in the compensation range. Magnetization reversal in the magnetically soft layer of an (REE-transition metal)/NiFe film structure is discussed based on a model of uniform rotation of magnetization. It is found that unidirectional anisotropy sharply decreases the magnetic noise level in the magnetically soft layer. The field of application of these materials is outlined. Аннотация: The magneto-resistive effect in bulk 123YBCO + CuO and YBCO + Normal metal BaPbO3 composites prepared by fast backing technique has been studied. The composites exhibit broadening of resistive transition in low magnetic fields (less than 200 Oe) for a wide temperature range. Experimental dependences of resistivity versus magnetic field at various transport current densities are presented and discussed. The HTSC based composites exhibit a much higher sensitivity to weak magnetic fields at liquid nitrogen temperature, as compared to that for the "pure" HTSC ceramics. This effect is attractive for possible practical applications and may be used in magnetic field sensor devices. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: We have studied the magnetoresistive effect in bulk 1-2-3 YBCO + CuO and 1-2-3 YBCO + BaPb1-xSnxO3 composites prepared using the fast backing technique. We have found that the composites exhibit large magnetoresistance in low magnetic fields ( 100 Oe) for a broad temperature range. We have studied the experimental dependences of resistivity versus magnetic field at various transport current densities. The high-T-C superconductor (HTSC) based composites exhibit a much higher sensitivity to weak magnetic fields at liquid nitrogen temperature, compared to that for pure HTSC ceramics. This effect is attractive for practical applications and the composite materials can be used as active elements in magnetic field sensor devices.

Аннотация: A novel low noise and wide bandwidth thin magnetic film magnetometer based on a ferromagnetic resonance phenomenon is presented in the article. The magnetometer is characterized by a high sensitivity in a wide frequency range - from a direct component of the field and up to 105...108 Hz. The magnetometer noise level is lower 10-12 T/Hz1/2 at frequencies above 102 Hz. The magnetometer conversion factor is constant at the whole operating frequency band. The developed magnetometer is simple and inexpensive for mass production.

Аннотация: This paper considers hardware and software for automated analysis of thin magnetic film ferroresonance spectrum to determine the rate of growth and decrease in ferroresonance spectrum (conversion factor parameter). The measuring element of automated system is the strip line which is short-circuited. The measuring unit is used to study Ni 80 Fe 20 permalloy films, with thickness of more than 300 Å. Conversion factor, magnetic permeability μ, uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, ferromagnetic spectrum resonance line width, saturation magnetization are analyzed from 50 MHz to 2 GHz frequency range. The magnetic films are used to design frequency selective filters, phase shifters and weak-field magnetic sensors. The thin magnetic film sensors are high sensitive magnetometers, with wide frequency range, low dimensions and weight [1]. © 2019 IEEE.

Аннотация: A silicon oxide quantum dots (Si-O QDs) and Ag nanoclusters hybrid nanosensing probe with dual-emission and small nanocrystals that acts as an “off-on” ratio fluorescent probe for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection was developed. The probe was used to measure the H2O2 concentration generated by mitochondria in vitro via recording the I455/I680 fluorescence ratio. Furthermore, this hybrid probe was applied to monitor the wound-induced H2O2 in lettuce leaf, and realized the visualized fluorescence qualitative detection H2O2 in vivo via laser scanning confocal microscope. The working mechanism of the probe is also investigated. Inner filter effect (IFE) estimation, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) images were applied to study the quenching mechanism and recovering reason of Si-O QDs fluorescence. The results show that the blue fluorescence of Si-O QDs can be quenched by Ag NCs via the IFE and fluorescent resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect. After adding H2O2, the surface groups of Ag NCs was changed and the IFE and FRET effects between the Si-O QDs and Ag NCs are disabled, thus the quenched Si-O QDs luminescence can be regularly recovered.

Аннотация: In this work, the effect of Pd, Au and PdAu nanoparticles on sensor response of cobalt phthalocyanine films to hydrogen was studied. For this purpose, novel heterostructures based on cobalt phthalocyanine and PdAu nanoalloys were obtained by a combination of vacuum thermal evaporation and pulsed metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) and investigated as active layers for hydrogen detection. The structural features and phase composition of the prepared heterostructures were studied by the techniques of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction. The concentration of metal nanoparticles in the samples was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). The chemiresistive sensor response of CoPc/M (M = Pd, Au, Pd0.2Au0.8 and Pd0.8Au0.2) to hydrogen (100–400 ppm, room temperature) was compared with that of bare CoPc films. It was shown that the sensor response of the investigated heterostructures to hydrogen (300 ppm) increased in the order CoPc (0.2%) < CoPc/Pd0.2Au0.8 (1.9%) ~ CoPc/Au (2.2%) < CoPc/Pd (2.7%) < CoPc/Pd0.8Au0.2 (5.6%).

Аннотация: Magnetometry and ferromagnetic resonance are used to quantitatively study magnetic anisotropy with an easy axis both in the film plane and perpendicular to it. In the study of single-layer and multilayer permalloy films, it is demonstrated that these methods make it possible not only to investigate the average field of perpendicular and in-plane anisotropy, but also to characterize their inhomogeneity. It is shown that the quantitative data from direct integral and local measurements of magnetic anisotropy are consistent with the direct and indirect estimates based on processing of the magnetization curves. The possibility of estimating the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant from the width of stripe domains in a film in the transcritical state is demonstrated. The average in-plane magnetic anisotropy field of permalloy films prepared by magnetron sputtering onto a Corning glass is almost unchanged with the thickness of a single-layer film. The inhomogeneity of the perpendicular anisotropy field for a 500 nm film is greater than that for a 100 nm film, and for a multilayer film with a total permalloy thickness of 500 nm, it is greater than that for a homogeneous film of the same thickness.

Аннотация: This work is aimed at the development of new heterostructures based on cobalt phthalocyanines (CoPc) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), and the evaluation of the prospects of their use to determine low concentrations of ammonia and nitric oxide. For this purpose, CoPc films were decorated with AuNPs by gas-phase methods (MOCVD and PVD) and drop-casting (DC), and their chemiresistive sensor response to low concentrations of NO (10–50 ppb) and NH3 (1–10 ppm) was investigated. A comparative analysis of the characteristics of heterostructures depending on the preparation methods was carried out. The composition, structure, and morphology of the resulting hybrid films were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission (ICP-AES) spectroscopy, as well as electron microscopy methods to discuss the effect of these parameters on the sensor response of hybrid films to ammonia and nitric oxide. It was shown that regardless of the fabrication method, the response of Au/CoPc heterostructures to NH3 and NO gases increased with an increase in the concentration of gold. The sensor response of Au/CoPc heterostructures to NH3 increased 2–3.3 times compared to CoPc film, whereas in the case of NO it increased up to 16 times. The detection limits of the Au/CoPc heterostructure with a gold content of ca. 2.1 µg/cm2 for NH3 and NO were 0.1 ppm and 4 ppb, respectively. It was shown that Au/CoPc heterostructures can be used for the detection of NH3 in a gas mixture simulating exhaled air (N2—74%, O2—16%, H2O—6%, CO2—4%).

Аннотация: Large-area nanoplasmonic structures with pillared metal–insulator geometry, also called nanomushrooms (NM), consist of an active spherical-shaped plasmonic material such as gold as its cap and silicon dioxide as its stem. NM is a geometry which evolves from its precursor, nanoislands (NI) consisting of aforementioned spherical structures on flat silicon dioxide substrates, via selective physical or chemical etching of the silicon dioxide. The NM geometry is well-known to provide enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensitivity in biosensing applications as compared to NI. However, precise optical phenomenon behind this enhancement is unknown and often associated with the existence of electric fields in the large fraction of the spatial region between the pillars of NM, usually accessible by the biomolecules. Here, we uncover the association of LSPR enhancement in such geometries with a hidden plasmonic mode by conducting magneto-optics measurements and by deconvoluting the absorbance spectra obtained during the local refractive index change of the NM and NI geometries. By the virtue of principal component analysis, an unsupervised machine learning technique, we observe an explicit relationship between the deconvoluted modes of LSPR, the differential absorption of left and right circular polarized light, and the refractive index sensitivity of the LSPR sensor. Our findings may lead to the development of new approaches to extract unknown properties of plasmonic materials or establish new fundamental relationships between less understood photonic properties of nanomaterials.

Аннотация: FeNi films of different thickness and FeNi/(Fe, Co)/FeNi trilayers were prepared by magnetron sputtering deposition onto glass substrates. The permalloy films had a columnar microstructure. The detailed analysis of the magnetic properties based on the magnetic and magneto-optical measurements showed that at thicknesses exceeding a certain critical thickness, hysteresis loops acquire a specific shape and the coercive force of the films increase sharply. The possibility of the estimation of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant using the Murayama equation for the thickness dependence of saturation field was demonstrated. The results of studies of the structural and magnetic properties of FeNi films laminated by Fe and Co spacers with different thickness are presented.

Аннотация: The possibility of using a single-mode–multimode–single-mode fiber-optic structure for remote measurement of temperature by an optical reflectometer is established. Experiments on measuring temperature using a structure with a multimode-fiber length of 10 mm in the temperature range of 30–70°C at wavelengths of 1310 and 1550 nm have been performed. The total length of the single-mode fiber line for reflectometric measurements was 20 km.

Аннотация: Quantum chemical calculations of the geometric and electronic structure of periodic hybrid compounds representing carbon nanotubes (10,0) with zinc phthalocyanine molecules ZnPc-xpy (x = 0, 1, 2, 4) on their surface and their interaction with ammonia were carried out to explain the dependence of the sensor response of the hybrid materials to ammonia on the number of substituents in the ZnPc-xpy macrocycle and to clarify the nature of the interaction between ammonia and phthalocyanine molecules. It was found that the key feature of these materials, which determines their sensor response toward ammonia, is the presence of an impurity band in the band gap of a carbon nanotube, formed by the orbitals of macrocycle atoms. When ammonia adsorbs through the formation of hydrogen bonds with the side atoms of phthalocyanine, the energy of this impurity band decreases. As a consequence, the electron population of the conduction band and, accordingly, the electrical conductivity of the hybrid materials become lower. Moreover, with an increase in the number of oxypyrene substituents in ZnPc-xpy, the interaction energy of ammonia increases and, as a result, the decrease in the energy of the impurity band becomes higher. These facts may explain recent experimental measurements of the parameters of the sensor response of similar hybrid materials to ammonia, where, in particular, it was shown that the sensor response is reversible, and its value increases with an increase in the number of oxypyrene substituents in the phthalocyanine macrocycle.
