Аннотация: The local changes produced in the electronic structure and their effect on the physical properties of the superconducting and normal phases when zinc and nickel are substituted for copper are examined on the basis of a multiband p-d model. It is shown that strong electronic correlations suppress the S = 1 configuration of Ni2+ and cause the superposition of the S = 1/2 and S = 0 states of nickel. The change in the density of states in p- and n-type systems is studied, and the peculiarity of Zn impurity for p- type systems and Ni impurity for n-type systems is shown. The universal dependence of the T-c on the residual resistance in lightly doped superconductors and deviations from it in optimally doped systems are discussed. Аннотация: Solid solutions in the Cs-x(NH4)(1 - x)LiSO4 (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.35) system are grown and investigated. The birefringence (n(a) - n(b)) and the heat capacity are measured in the temperature range 100-530 K. The (x-T) phase diagram is constructed. It is demonstrated that the substitution of cesium for ammonium in the NH4LiSO4 crystal affects the transition temperatures in such a way that the region of the ferroelectric phase increases and the ferroelastic phase disappears at x 0.22. The character of the high-temperature transition remains unchanged (2beta = 0.24 +/- 0.01 for all compositions), but the birefringence anomaly and enthalpy decrease. As the concentration x increases, the low-temperature transition becomes more similar to a first-order transition: the birefringence jump deltan and the temperature hysteresis DeltaT increase. Аннотация: Magnetic susceptibility, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption have been studied in a glass system 20La(2)O(3)-22Al(2)O(3)-23B(2)O(3)-35(SiO2 + GeO2) with a part of La2O3 substituted by Gd2O3 in different concentrations. Positive Weiss constants have been found in more heavily doped glasses and ascribed to clustering of Gd3+ ions. Computer simulations of the EPR spectra show that the short-range ordering in the environment of the Gd3+ ions is well preserved. The relative distribution widths of the ligand coordinates are less than 2%. In the more heavily doped glasses the EPR spectra are superpositions of signals arising from isolated ions and ferromagnetic clusters. The increase of Gd3+ concentration is shown to change substantially the strong optical absorption edge while only small changes of f-f absorption band characteristics are observed. This difference is associated with the different effect of the Gd ion clustering on the mechanisms of the strong absorption in the ultraviolet region and the f-f absorption.

Аннотация: Crystals of Cs-x(NH4)(1 - x)LiSO4 (0.39 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 1.0) solid solutions are grown and investigated using polarized light microscopy and measurements of the birefringence in the temperature range 100-530 K. The (x-T) phase diagram of the Cs-x(NH4)(1 - x)LiSO4 solid solutions is constructed. It is demonstrated that, upon substitution of ammonium for cesium in the CsLiSO4 crystal, the phase transition temperature gradually increases to such a degree that the ferroelastic phase can exist at room temperature. The triple point of intersection of the Pmcn, P2(1)cn, and P112(1)/n phase boundaries is determined. It is established that the introduction of ammonium in small amounts has an unusually strong effect on the refractive properties and character of the ferroelastic phase transition in the CsLiSO4 crystal. Аннотация: Three results are presented. First, we prove the existence of a universal 7-cluster structure in all 143 completely sequenced bacterial genomes available in Genbank in August 2004, and explained its properties. The 7-cluster structure is responsible for the main part of sequence heterogeneity in bacterial genomes. In this sense, our 7 clusters is the basic model of bacterial genome sequence. We demonstrated that there are four basic "pure" types of this model, observed in nature: "parallel triangles", "perpendicular triangles", degenerated case and the flower-like type. Second, we answered the question: how big are the position-specific information and the contribution connected with correlations between nucleotide. The accuracy of the mean-field (context-free) approximation is estimated for bacterial genomes. We show that codon us-age of bacterial genomes is a multi-linear function of their genomic G+C-content with high accuracy (more precisely, by two similar functions, one for eubacterial genomes and the other one for archaea). Description of these two codon-usage trajectories is the third result. Аннотация: The heat capacity of NH4LiSO4, RbLiSO4, and Cs-x(NH4)(1 - x) LiSO4 crystals and its behavior over a broad temperature range including the phase transition regions were studied. The entropy changes corresponding to structural transformations in these crystals were found not to be characteristic of straightforward ordering of structural blocks. Аннотация: The single crystals Cu1 xNixB2O4 with x ¼ 0:002; 0.005; 0.009; 0.014 were grown by spontaneous crystallization and the magnetic properties of these crystals have been studied. The strong influence of substitution on the value of critical fields H?c at which the modulated states transform into a weak ferromagnetic one was observed in the temperature range 9.5–20 K. The essential change of temperature dependence of a paramagnetic susceptibility w for Ni-doped samples in comparison with pure CuB2O4 was revealed. The modulated state was not observed in the temperature range 9.5–20 K for Ni content more than x ¼ 0:009.

Аннотация: The Y(1-x) Ce (x) Ba2Cu3O7 system with low cerium concentrations has been synthesized. The cerium solubility limit measured using x-ray powder diffraction analysis is about 2.4 at. %. The temperature dependences of the magnetization M(T) are measured for samples cooled in a magnetic field (FC) and in a zero field (ZFC). The difference between the magnetizations M-ZFC-M-FC at 77.4 K, which is proportional to the pinning potential, passes through a maximum at x = 0.0156. This concentration corresponds to the average distance (equal to eight lattice constants) between the impurity ions in the plane of the rare-earth elements, which is comparable to the diameter of Abrikosov vortices in YBa2Cu3O7.

Аннотация: Single crystals of K (x) Rb1 - x Pb2Br5 solid solutions have been grown and investigated using X-ray diffraction and polarized light microscopy in the temperature range 270-640 K. The regions of existence of the tetragonal (I4/mcm) and monoclinic (P2(1)/c) phases have been determined. It has been demonstrated that the partial introduction of rubidium into KPb2Br5 leads to an increase in the temperature of the ferroelastic phase transition (P2(1)/ca dagger"mmm), so that it approaches the melting temperature. In the solid solutions with x a parts per thousand 0.4-0.5, the temperature region of existence of the orthorhombic phase is narrowed to a parts per thousand 1-2 K. It has been revealed that an increase in the potassium content in the material results in a considerable increase in the incorporation coefficient of Er3+ ions.

Аннотация: The spectra of lattice vibration frequencies of solid solutions Ba1 - x Bi(2x/3)a-- Ti-x/3(Zr)O-3 and Ba1 - x La (x) Ti(Zr)(1 - x/4)a-- O-x/4(3) are calculated in terms of a generalized Gordon-Kim model with inclusion of the dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities. Over the entire concentration range, the calculated phonon spectra contain a ferroelectric soft mode. The effect of various interactions on the ferroelectric instability of these solid solutions is studied. It is shown that the character of ferroelectric instability is largely determined by the mechanism of charge compensation.

Аннотация: The low-temperature ferroelectric G2 polymorph of K3WO3F3 oxyfluoride is formed by chemical synthesis. The electronic parameters of G2-K3WO3F3 have been measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy under excitation with Al K alpha radiation (1486.6 eV). Detailed spectra have been recorded for all element core levels and Auger lines. The chemical bonding effects in the WO3 F-3 and WO6 octahedrons are considered by using the binding energy difference Delta BE(O-W) = BE(O 1s) BE(W 4f(7/2)). (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd.
