Аннотация: Electron-phonon coupling, diagonal in a real space formulation, leads to a polaron paradigm of smoothly varying properties. However, fundamental changes, namely the singular behavior of polarons, occur if off-diagonal pairing is involved into consideration. The study of polaron transformations and related properties of matter is of particular interest for realistic models, since competition between diagonal and off-diagonal electron-phonon contributions in the presence of other strong interactions can result in unconventional behavior of the system. Here we consider a two-dimensional multiband pd model of cuprate superconductors with electron-phonon interaction and analyze the features of the systems that are caused by the competition of diagonal and off-diagonal electron-phonon contributions in the limit of strong electron correlations. Using the polaronic version of the generalized tight-binding method, we describe the evolution of the band structure, Fermi surface, density of states at Fermi level, and phonon spectral function in the space of electron-phonon parameters ranging from weak to strong coupling strength of the adiabatic limit. On the phase diagram of polaron properties we reveal two quantum phase transitions and show how electron-phonon interaction gives rise to Fermi surface transformation (i) from hole pockets to true Fermi arcs and (ii) from hole to electron type of conductivity. We also demonstrate the emergence of new states in the phonon spectral function of the polaron and discuss their origin.

electric field -- liquid crystal -- pitch -- polarization microscopy -- thickness
Аннотация: Electric-field-induced changes of the orientational structures of cholesteric liquid crystal layer with the tangential-conical boundary conditions have been investigated. The samples with the ratio of the cholesteric layer thickness d to the helix pitch p equalled to 0.57 have been considered. The perpendicularly applied electric field causes a decrease of the azimuthal director angle at the substrate with the conical surface anchoring. In the cells with d = 22 μm, the defect loops having the under-twisted and over-twisted areas are formed. At the defect loop the pair of point peculiarities is observed where the 180° jump of azimuthal angle of the director occurs. Under the action of electric field the loops shrink and disappear. In the cells with d = 13 μm, the over-twisted and under-twisted defect lines are formed. Applied voltage results in the shortening of lines or/and their transformation into a defect of the third type. The director field distribution near defect lines of three types has been investigated by the polarising microscopy techniques. It has been revealed that the length ratio between the over-twisted and third-type defect lines can be controlled by the electric field.

Аннотация: The processes of phase formation during a solid-state reaction between Fe and Al nanolayers have been investigated by the in situ electron diffraction method. It is established that the solid-state reaction at the interface between iron and aluminum nanolayers begins at ≈100°C with the formation of a disordered Al solid solution in α-Fe. It is shown that intermetallic phases (FeAl6 and/or Fe2Al5, FeAl, and Fe3Al) are successively formed upon further heating.

daughter mineral -- Fe-oxyhydroxides -- fluid inclusion -- rinneite -- weathering
Аннотация: Solid daughter phases in fluid and salt melt inclusions in minerals provide important clues to characterization of mineral‐forming processes. The analysis of the fluid inclusions often requires the exposure of the daughter minerals. Rinneite (K3NaFeCl6), which is a hygroscopic mineral, decomposes in air and cannot thus be identified by conventional methods. A combined approach has been applied for investigation of synthetic and natural rinneite to acquire its diagnostic Raman spectrum for a nondestructive identification. We used natural rinneite inclusions in halite, suitable for applying a complex of methods, to clear up the reference spectrum. Improved high‐resolution X‐ray diffraction (XRD) data obtained from natural rinneite inclusion are comparable with that of previously published, with similar unit cell dimensions. Polarized Raman spectra of natural inclusions were obtained using different geometries and polarization of the incident and scattered light. Interpretation of experimental Raman spectra was performed within the framework of lattice dynamics simulations and group analysis. Individual spectral bands are interpreted in terms of Raman‐active vibrational modes of K3NaFeCl6 structural units. Raman spectrum of synthetic rinneite with main peaks at 75, 91, 103, 143, 167, 171, 187, and 239 cm−1 agrees well with the spectra of rinneite inclusions in halite from the Nepa potash deposit and rinneite daughter minerals in salt melt inclusions hosted by quartz veinlets from the porphyry gold systems in the Central Slovakia Volcanic Field. This provides a firm basis for any future identification of this mineral worldwide, using nondestructive Raman spectroscopy.

Using titanium additives to produce high porous tiNi-based alloys with martensitic transformations / S. G. Anikeev, N. V. Artyukhova, M. I. Kaftaranova [et al.] // AIP Conf. Proc. - 2020. - Vol. 2310. - Ст. 020018DOI 10.1063/5.0034809. - Cited References: 13. - The study is funded by the Russian Science Foundation (project No. 19-79-10045)
Аннотация: Structural features of porous TiNi-based materials with Ti additives produced by diffusion sintering have been studied. TiNi powder fraction with a size of 100–160 µm used for sintering provides highly porous material. It is found that increased concentrations of Ti additives decrease the porosity coefficient of the material and increase the volumetric content of the secondary Ti2Ni and Ti4Ni2 (0, N, C) phases. It is shown that Ti powder additives can be used to improve the atomic composition of the TiNi compound.

Кл.слова (ненормированные):
lead-free materials -- low-dimensional perovskites -- luminescence -- manganese -- phase transitions
Аннотация: The development of lead‐free perovskite photoelectric materials has been an extensive focus in the recent years. Herein, a novel one‐dimensional (1D) lead‐free CsMnCl3(H2O)2 single crystal is reported with solvatochromic photoluminescence properties. Interestingly, after contact with N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAC) or N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF), the crystal structure can transform from 1D CsMnCl3(H2O)2 to 0D Cs3MnCl5 and finally transform into 0D Cs2MnCl4(H2O)2. The solvent‐induced crystal‐to‐crystal phase transformations are accompanied by loss and regaining of water of crystallization, leading to the change of the coordination number of Mn2+. Correspondingly, the luminescence changes from red to bright green and finally back to red emission. By fabricating a test‐paper containing CsMnCl3(H2O)2, DMAC and DMF can be detected quickly with a response time of less than one minute. These results can expand potential applications for low‐dimensional lead‐free perovskites.

Аннотация: The Raman spectra of an Rb2KLuF6 crystal are studied in the temperature range from 8 to 375 K, which includes two phase transitions: one of which proceeds from a cubic to a tetragonal phase, while the other transition takes place from a tetragonal to a monoclinic phase. An analysis of the temperature dependences of parameters of spectral lines shows that the former transition is of the second kind, while the latter transition is of the first kind, close to the tricritical point. It is shown that the structural phase transitions in the Rb2KLuF6 double perovskite are not associated with disordering. The former transition is associated with rotations of LuF6 octahedra around the fourth-order axis, while the latter transition is related with rotations of octahedra and displacements of rubidium ions.

Structure formation in bulk Ni51Ti49 alloy specimens under tensile loading is studied. Electron microscopy and electron diffraction methods are applied to show that a phase with fcc lattice can be present in titanium nickelide. It is found that interplanar spacings bcc110, fcc111 and hcp002 in the studied alloy have close values, which demonstrates the possibility of their mutual polymorphic transformation. A scheme of B2>B19' (bcc>hcp) martensitic transformation through an intermediate phase with fcc lattice is proposed for titanium nickelide from the standpoint of modular self-organization.
