Аннотация: The single crystals Co3O2BO3 with partial (4%) substitution of Co by Cu ions were synthesized by the flux technique. X-ray diffraction and magnetic properties investigations were carried out. The x-ray diffraction meas-urements have shown that Cu clearly prefers only one from four nonequivalent crystallographic positions with the smallest electric field gradient. The ferrimagnetic ordering near TN = 43 K and high magnetic hardness in this magnetic phase are similar to Co3O2BO3. The small reduction of the effective magnetic moment was revealed under copper substitution.Монокристаллы кобальтового людвигита с частичным (4%) замещением кобальта Со медью Cu были синтезированы раствор-расплавным методом. Были проведены рентгено-структурный анализ и измерение магнитных свойств. Рентгеновские измерения показывают, что медь явно предпочитает только одно от четырех неэквивалентных кристаллографических положений с самым маленьким градиентом электрического поля. Ферримагнетик, упорядочивающийся около TN = 43 K, с высокой магнитной твердостью - в этом магнитная фаза подобна Co3O2BO3. Показано, что при замещении медью проявляется небольшое сокращение эффективного магнитного момента.

Аннотация: Structure and magnetic properties of Pb-3(Mn1-xFex)(7)O-15 single crystals with x=0-0.2 grown by spontaneous crystallization from solution in melt have been investigated. All the crystals belong to the hexagonal space group P6(3)/mcm. The magnetic properties appeared to be strongly dependent on the iron doping level. At small (x=0.05) dopant concentrations, the value of magnetization and Neel temperature T-N decrease insignificantly (T-N=70 K). With increasing x, the three-dimensional magnetic ordering does not occur and temperature dependences of magnetization at x = 0.1 exhibit spin-glass-like features in the low-temperature region. Аннотация: A series of Fe1−xCoxSe1.09 (x = 0 to ) nanoparticles were synthesized by thermal decomposition method. Particles in composition range Fe0.5Co0.5Se1.09 to CoSe1.09 crystallized in monoclinic structure of Co6.8Se8 , while FeSe1.09 crystallized in hexagonal structure of FeSe achavalite. Magnetization dependences on temperature and external magnetic field reveal complicated magnetic behavior and correspond to the sum of paramagnetic and superparamagnetic response. Mössbauer spectra contain several paramagnetic doublets with parameters corresponding to nonequivalent positions of divalent and trivalent iron cations with low spin. The nonequivalent positions appeared due to inhomogeneous distribution of Co ions or metal vacancies in iron surrounding.

Аннотация: Single crystals of Fe1.91V0.09BO4 were prepared by spontaneous crystallization using a solution melt technology for the first time and its structure, electronic and magnetic properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy, magnetization and electrical measurements. Room-temperature Mossbauer measurements indicate that "localized" (Fe2+, Fe3+) and "delocalized" (Fe2.5+) states in ratio 0.31:0.345:0.345 distributed over two crystallographically non-equivalent positions exist. The results of magnetic measurements show that warwickite is a P-type ferrimagnet below T = 130 K. Resistivity measurements show a variable-range-hopping when electron-electron interactions cause a soft Coulomb gap in the density of states at the Fermi energy. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. Аннотация: The PbMn1−xFexBO4 (x ≈ 0.1) orthoborate single crystals have been grown for the first time by spontaneous crystallization and their magnetic and resonance properties and specific heat have been examined. It has been established that partial substitution of iron ions for manganese ones leads to an increase in the Curie temperature to 34.2 K from its value of 30.3 K in the unsubstituted crystal, enhances the magnetic anisotropy, and reduces the saturation magnetization. The magnetization drop is explained in the framework of the model of a ferrimagnetic-like structure, in which the magnetic moments of iron and manganese ions form ferromagnetic subsystems coupled by the antiferromagnetic exchange. It has been found that under magnetization along the rhombic b axis the magnetic moments switch stepwise to the magnetic field direction in a certain critical field. The spin-reorientation transition is the first-order one. This feature of the crystal magnetization does not allow the experimental ferromagnetic resonance frequency-field dependence for the rhombic b axis to be described using the calculation for a simple rhombic ferromagnet. It has been established that the increase in the magnetic anisotropy of the crystal upon substitution leads to an increase in the energy gap in the ferromagnetic resonance spectrum to 121.5 GHz at T = 4.2 K.

Аннотация: The content of transition-metal ions and their valence state for three compositions of NixCuyMn3−x−yBO5 are estimated by the methods of X-ray absorption spectroscopy. In all the three compositions, the copper content does not exceed 0.25. One of the compositions has manganese ions both in the trivalent and bivalent states according to the K-edge position. The calculations of the total energies of various cation-ordered structures using the software package Wien2K show that copper ions predominately occupy one site, namely, 2(2d). The measurements of the magnetic properties show two types of magnetic transitions in all the three compositions, with one of them being in the range of 60–75 K and the other one at 10 K. Based on the exchange interactions calculated in the framework of the empirical model, magnetic ordering temperatures are estimated for two- and three-sublattice structures and the magnetic transition in the range of 60–75 K is supposed to be connected with magnetic moment ordering in sites 2 and 3.
