Аннотация: The PbMn1−xFexBO4 (x ≈ 0.1) orthoborate single crystals have been grown for the first time by spontaneous crystallization and their magnetic and resonance properties and specific heat have been examined. It has been established that partial substitution of iron ions for manganese ones leads to an increase in the Curie temperature to 34.2 K from its value of 30.3 K in the unsubstituted crystal, enhances the magnetic anisotropy, and reduces the saturation magnetization. The magnetization drop is explained in the framework of the model of a ferrimagnetic-like structure, in which the magnetic moments of iron and manganese ions form ferromagnetic subsystems coupled by the antiferromagnetic exchange. It has been found that under magnetization along the rhombic b axis the magnetic moments switch stepwise to the magnetic field direction in a certain critical field. The spin-reorientation transition is the first-order one. This feature of the crystal magnetization does not allow the experimental ferromagnetic resonance frequency-field dependence for the rhombic b axis to be described using the calculation for a simple rhombic ferromagnet. It has been established that the increase in the magnetic anisotropy of the crystal upon substitution leads to an increase in the energy gap in the ferromagnetic resonance spectrum to 121.5 GHz at T = 4.2 K.

Аннотация: To study non-Heisenberg effects in the vicinity of spin crossover in strongly correlated electron systems we derive an effective low-energy Hamiltonian for the two-band Kanamori model. It contains a Heisenberg high-spin term proportional to exchange constant as well as a low-spin term proportional to spin gap parameter ɛs. Using cluster mean field theory we obtain several non-Heisenberg effects. Near the critical value of spin gap ɛcs there is a magnetic phase transition of first order. In the vicinity of ɛcs in the paramagnetic phase we observe nontrivial behavior of the Curie constant in the paramagnetic susceptibility in the wide range of temperature. Reentrant temperature behavior of nearest-neighbor spin-spin correlations is observed at ɛsɛcs. Finally, the pressure-temperature magnetic phase diagram for ferroperriclase is obtained using the effective Hamiltonian.

Аннотация: The effect of ultrasonic treatment of iron oxide and iron oxyhydroxide nanoparticles (ferrihydrite nanoparticles synthesized by Klebsiella oxytoca microorganisms, ferrihydrite nanoparticles synthesized by a chemical method and hematite nanoparticles) is studied. Samples of nanoparticles were investigated using transmission electron microscopy, Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. The formation of the ?-Fe metal phase from nanoparticles of iron oxides and iron oxyhydroxides was detected. The metal phase is formed as a result of the reduction of iron ions during cavitation treatment. According to the experimental results, the presence of a protein or a polysaccharide component is necessary for the course of this reaction.

Аннотация: The mechanism of relaxation of the electric polarization in thin films of rare-earth-doped bismuth iron garnet on glass and gallium gadolinium garnet substrates is determined in magnetic fields of 0 and 12 kOe in the temperature range of 80–380 K. The change in the sign of the residual electric polarization after switching off the electric field and the magnetic-field-induced shift of the hysteresis loop in the applied magnetic field are found. Linear and quadratic magnetoelectric effects with the tensor components depending on the substrate type are observed. The linear magnetoelectric effect is related to the spin–orbit coupling of electrons at the film–substrate interface, whereas the quadratic one is determined by the exchange–striction mechanism.

Аннотация: New composite nanoparticles for biomedical applications have been manufactured. The particles consist of an anisomeric magnetite core coated with arabinogalactan and are functionalized with cameras for As-14 ascites cells (Ehrlich carcinoma). The binding of ascitic Ehrlich carcinoma cells to magnetic nanoparticles was evaluated using fluorescence microscopy.

Аннотация: The GdFe3(BO3)4 crystal has attracted great interest as a magnetic-field-induced multiferroic. In this paper, we show that the multiferroic properties in this crystal can be induced by high pressure. At high pressures up to 50 GPa, created in diamond anvil cells, the structural and vibrational (phonon) properties of the GdFe3(BO3)4 crystal were studied. The structural phase transition was detected at about 23–25 GPa by Raman and synchrotron Mössbauer (NFS) spectroscopy. First-principle calculations of the crystal lattice dynamics at pressures below and above the structural transition were carried out. It was established that at pressures above the structural transition, the space group R32 of GdFe3(BO3)4 is changed to the polar space group R3, and the crystal becomes a ferroelectric. At the R32 → R3 transition, the displacement of the boron ion B(2) and oxygen O results in the formation of boron–oxygen B(2)O4 tetrahedrons instead of the plane BO3 triangles. Meanwhile, the triangle oxygen environment of boron in the site B(1) remains unchanged. The nearest environment of the gadolinium ion also changes significantly. Instead of six oxygen ions in the R32 phase, the nearest surroundings of Gd in the R3 phase consist of nine oxygen ions forming a complex polyhedron. A large hysteresis of the transition indicates that this crystal remains a ferroelectric with a decrease in pressure to about ambient pressure.

Аннотация: Velocity of bulk acoustic waves in base and rotated cuts have been measured by the ultrasonic pulse-echo method and values of CE ijkl and eijk in single crystals YAl3(BO3)4 have been calculated. The value of dijk piezoelectric modulus of these single crystals have been determined by quasistatic measurements, and εσ ij dielectric constants have been determined by the flat capacitor method. Experimental values of material constants have been applied for the study of Magnetostatic properties of FeSi and Fe0;98Co0;02Si single crystals have been studied. It has been found that the temperature and field dependences of the magnetization of monocrystal FeSi are strongly affected by introduction of a small amount of Co (2 %). A description of the results were provided by a model accounting for the formation of superparamagnetic iron clusters, as well as Fe-Co complexes. It is assumed that Fe-Co complexes form a ferromagnetic phase, which is approximately 0.6% of the Fe0;98Co0;02Si sample weightВ работе представлено исследование магнитостатических характеристик образцов FeSi и Fe0;98Co0;02Si. Обнаружено, что внесение небольшого количества примести Co (2 %) значительно влияет на температурные и полевые зависимости намагниченности монокристалла FeSi. Результаты обрабобтаны в рамках модели, учетывающей образование суперпарамагнитных кластеров железа, а также комплексов Fe-Co. Предполагается, что комплексы Fe-Co образуют ферромагнитную фазу, которая составляет примерно 0,6 % от массы образца Fe0;98Co0;02Si.

Аннотация: We use density functional theory to study the structure and the band structure of the monolayer FeSe deposited on the SrTiO3 substrate with the additional layer of Se between them. The top of the SrTiO3 is formed by the double TiOx layer with and without oxygen vacancies. Several structures with different arrangements of the additional Se atoms above the double TiOx layer are considered. Equilibrium structures were found, and the band structures for them were obtained. Near the Γ = (0,0,0) point of the Brillouin zone, the hole Fermi surface pockets persist and, additionally, an electron pocket appears. Thus, neither the presence of the additional Se layer nor the oxygen vacancies in the double TiOx layer lead to the sinking of hole bands below the Fermi level near the Γ point. The necessity to include the strong electronic correlations into account is discussed.

Аннотация: С использованием метода одноволновой лазерной эллипсометрии in situ проведено исследование процесса формирования многослойной структуры [Si/Fe57/Fe56]3/SiO2/Si(100). Были получены сведения об оптических и структурных свойствах данной структуры. Изменение морфологии поверхности растущих слоев и их оптических характеристик оказываются неидентичными для случаев осаждения железа на поверхность слоя кремния и осаждения кремния на поверхность слоя железа. Полученные профили оптических постоянных свидетельствуют об увеличении толщины переходных слоев, содержащих твердые растворы «железо-кремний» и силициды. Характер изменения оптических постоянных усложняется с каждым последующим слоем железа, осаждаемым на поверхность кремния. Поведение профилей n и k, соответствующих формированию кремниевых слоев, имеет более простой характер по сравнению с поведением подобных профилей железа. Эти профили имеют лишь некоторые особенности на начальных этапах роста и соответствуют формированию аморфных слоев кремния. Полученные данные согласуются с данными просвечивающей электронной микроскопии.Using in situ single-wave laser ellipsometry method, the formation of the [Si/Fe57/Fe56]3/SiO2/Si(100) multilayer structure was studied. Information about the optical and structural properties of this structure was obtained. The change in the morphology of the surface of the growing layers and their optical characteristics are not identical for the cases of iron deposition on the surface of the silicon layer and deposition of silicon on the surface of the iron layer. The refractive index and coefficient of absorption indicate an increase of the thickness of transition layers containing iron-silicon solid solutions and silicides. The nature of the change in the optical constants become more complicated with each subsequent iron layer deposited on the silicon surface. The behavior of n and k profiles corresponding to the formation of silicon layers is simpler than the behavior of similar iron profiles. These profiles have only some features at the initial stages of growth and correspond to the formation of amorphous silicon layers. The obtained data are consistent with the data of transmission electron microscopy.

Аннотация: Spin accumulation effect in Fe3Si/p-Si structure with low boron doped silicon substrate was found. Calculated spin lifetimes are comparable with results reported earlier but for structures with highly doped semiconductors (SC) with or without a tunnel barrier introduced between the SC and ferromagnet (FM). Electrical characterization of a prepared Fe3Si/p-Si diode allowed the determination of possible reasons for the pronounced spin signal. Analysis of the forward bias I-V curve revealed a Schottky barrier at the Fe3Si/p-Si interface with a height of φBp = 0.57 eV. Then, using impedance spectroscopy, we observed interface states localized in the band gap of silicon with energy of E LS = 40 meV. Such states most probably cause the observed spin signal. We believe that in our experiment, spin-dependent hole extraction was performed via the interface states resulting in the minority spin accumulation in the silicon valence band. The observed effect paves the way to the development of different spintronic devices based on FM/SC structures without dielectric tunneling barriers.

Аннотация: A remarkable characteristic of borate glasses is the ability of forming magnetic nanoparticles at low doping with transition element oxides. We have studied structure and magnetic properties of iron oxide nanoparticles formed in borate glasses, in particular, concentration and temperature dependences of magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) and electron magnetic resonance (EMR) spectra. A series of glasses of molar composition 22.5K2O-22.5Al2O3–55B2O3 doped with 1.5 mass % of Fe2O3 and different contents of Gd2O3 from 0.1 to 1.0 mass % was prepared using a conventional melt quenching technique and subjected to an additional thermal treatment. The whole set of results allows to identify the predominant magnetic phase in these glasses as ε-Fe2O3 nanoparticles, with a considerable part of iron ions substituted by gadolinium. Analysis and computer simulations of the EMR spectra allow separating the contribution of electron paramagnetic resonance of diluted iron ions and together with the temperature dependences of magnetization demonstrate a superparamagnetic character of the nanoparticle magnetism.

Аннотация: We present the derivation of a microscopic superexchange Hamiltonian for undoped magnetic insulators with an arbitrary spin. It is established that the sign of the (ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic) superexchange between magnetic ions in the dn configuration depends on the spin nature of virtual multielectron states dn± 1, viz., low-spin or high-spin partners with S ± 1/2 relative to ground state of the dn configuration with spin S. A macroscopic substantiation is given for the Goodenough–Kanamori rules and simple mean-field estimates connecting the magnetic ordering temperature with the exchange constant. The conventional Anderson superexchange for magnetic materials with spin S = 1/2 and the P/T magnetic phase diagram for ferroborate FeBO3 with spin crossover S = (5/2 ↔ 1/2) at the Fe3+ ion under a high pressure are also reproduced as a test.

Аннотация: The ε-Fe2O3 iron oxide is a fairly rare polymorphic modification, which only exists in the form of nanoparticles embedded, as a rule, into a silica gel matrix. This magnetically ordered iron oxide, which exhibits a significant room-temperature coercivity, is a ferroelectric; therefore, the magnetoelectric and magnetodielectric properties of this material evoke keen interest. In this work, we investigate the magnetodielectric (MD) effect in a metamaterial consisting of xerogel SiO2 with embedded ε-Fe2O3 nanoparticles 9 nm in size on average in a concentration of 20 mass.%. This bulk material exhibits the MD effect in a wide temperature range. The temperature behavior of the permittivity is related to the magnetic state of the ε-Fe2O3 oxide, which undergoes the magnetic transition from the magnetically hard to magnetically soft phase in the temperature range of 80–150 K, indicating the interplay of the ε-Fe2O3 magnetic and charge subsystems.

Аннотация: Magnetostatic properties of FeSi and Fe0,98Co0,02Si single crystals have been studied. It has been found that the temperature and field dependences of the magnetization of monocrystal FeSi are strongly affected by introduction of a small amount of Co (2 %). A description of the results were provided by a model accounting for the formation of superparamagnetic iron clusters, as well as Fe-Co complexes. It is assumed that Fe-Co complexes form a ferromagnetic phase, which is approximately 0.6% of the Fe0,98Co0,02Si sample weight.В работе представлено исследование магнитостатических характеристик образцов FeSi и Fe0,98Co0,02Si. Обнаружено, что внесение небольшого количества примести Co(2%) значительно влияет на температурные и полевые зависимости намагниченности монокристалла FeSi. Результаты обработаны в рамках модели, учитывающей образование суперпарамагнитных кластеров железа, а также комплексов Fe-Co. Предполагается, что комплексы Fe-Co образуют ферромагнитную фазу, которая составляет примерно 0,6 % от массы образца Fe0,98Co0,02Si.

Аннотация: Iron disilicide is widely used in creation of such nanotechnology devices as photoelectric converters. The investigation of iron silicide FeSi2 with the method of inelastic electron scattering cross-section spectroscopy was carried out. The decomposition of inelastic electron scattering cross-section spectra of FeSi2 to bulk and surface energy loss components using factor analysis was carried out. The amplitude of energy loss components can be used for identification of their origin.
