Аннотация: A silicon structure doped with Ga using ion implantation has been investigated by admittance spectroscopy. It has been established that the presence of the Ga impurity, along with the B one, in the silicon structure leads to the appearance of the second peak in the temperature dependence of the real part of the impedance (admittance). Moreover, switching-on a magnetic field parallel to the sample plane shifts the singularities in the temperature curve to the high-temperature region. This results in the manifestation of both the positive and negative magnetoresistance effect upon temperature and magnetic field variation. It has been found by the standard admittance spectroscopy analysis of the impedance data that the energy structure of the investigated sample includes two interfacial energy levels ES1(0) = 42 meV and ES2(0) = 69.4 meV. As expected, these energies are consistent with the energies of B and Ga dopants. In a magnetic field, these levels increase by 3 meV for B and 2 meV for Ga, which induces the magnetoresistance effect. It has been demonstrated that the interfacial state-induced magnetoresistance effect can be tuned by ion implantation and dopant selection.

Аннотация: We present a two-time of relaxation approach at an analysis of a magnetoresistance in ferromagnetic manganese perovskites La(1-x)(Ca,Sr)(x)MnO. To explain a change in the low-held response from predominantly quadratic dR/dH\(H-->0) = 0 for T > T(c) to linear dR/dH\(H-->0) for T < T(c) as noted in the measurements in thin films La(0.7)Ca(0.3)MnO(3) we calculated held and temperature dependences of a impurity contribution to a carrier mobility in a framework of the 2p(O)- and 3d(Mn)-scattering model elaborated for manganese perovskites. We obtained the field-dependent impurity contribution to the overall scattering of carriers that show a transition in the low-field (H) dependence of R from quadratic above T(c) to linear below consistent with an experiment. The calculated negative magnetoresistance ratio is sharply peaked at a temperature-near T(c) or below. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The angular dependence of the magnetoresistance of polycrystalline Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7-CuO composites has been studied. These composites represent a system of Josephson junctions and exhibit a large magnetoresistance at 77 K. In addition to the isotropic component, there is the angle-dependent component proportional to sin(2)theta, where theta is the angle between the directions of current and magnetic field. This behavior is unambiguous evidence for the process of flux flow in the Josephson medium realized in the composites.

Аннотация: Dissipation in granular high-temperature superconductors (HTSs) during the passage of macroscopic transport current j is mainly determined by carrier tunneling through intergrain boundaries (Josephson junctions). In the presence of external magnetic field H, it is necessary to take into account the significant magnetic flux compression, which can lead to the situation when the effective field Beff in the intergrain boundaries exceeds the external field by an order of magnitude. This is observed as a wide hysteresis of the field dependence of magnetoresistance R(H). In this study, we investigate the R(H) hysteresis evolution in granular 1-2-3 HTSs in different j-H orientations. The magnetic flux compression significantly affects the magnetoresistance and its hysteresis for both perpendicular (H ⊥ j) and parallel (H ∥ j) orientations. The obtained experimental data on the R(H) hysteresis at the arbitrary angles θ = ∠H, j are explained using the approach developed for describing the magnetoresistance hysteresis in granular HTSs with regard to the magnetic flux compression and the model representations proposed by Daghero et al. [Phys. Rev. B 66(13), 11478 (2002)]. A concept of the effective field in the intergrain medium explains the well-known anisotropy of the magnetotransport properties of granular HTSs.

Аннотация: The temperature dependence of resistivity and the bulk modulus are calculated on the Kondo lattice, with ring exchange between localized spins, using the spin-polaron and adiabatic approximation. Peak and zero values of the bulk modulus as functions of temperature and concentration are determined below the temperature of the transition to the paramagnetic state. The effects of the nearest order between transverse spin components and a value of the ring exchange between localized spins on magnetoresistivity are estimated.

Аннотация: An anomalous temperature dependence of magnetoresistance (MR) of Co/Cu multilayer films with a similar to 3 Angstrom thick magnetic layer has been established experimentally. The temperature of the MR maximum T-max is shown to coincide with the Neel temperature. The variation of T-max with the Cu layer thickness follows an oscillatory pattern. Аннотация: We report some ac and dc magnetotransport phenomena in silicon-based hybrid structures. The giant impedance change under an applied magnetic field has been experimentally found in the metal/insulator/semiconductor (MIS) diode with the Schottky barrier based on the Fe/SiO2/p-Si and Fe/SiO2/n-Si structures. The maximum effect is found to observe at temperatures of 10-30 K in the frequency range 10 Hz-1 MHz, Below 1 kHz the magnetoresistance can be controlled in a wide range by applying a bias to the device. A photoinduced dc magnetoresistance of over 104% has been found in the Fe/SiO2/p-Si back-to-back Schottky diode. The observed magnetic-field-dependent effects are caused by the interface states localized in the insula-tor/semiconductor interface. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Аннотация: The magnetic, electric, magnetoresistive, and structural properties are investigated in the sulfide solid solutions FexMn1-xS, which are based on the antiferromagnetic semiconductor alpha-MnS (the fcc NaCl lattice). Colossal negative magnetoresistance (delta(H)similar to-83% at 160 K for x similar to 0.29), comparable to that observed in La-Ca-Mn-O polycrystals and films (delta(H)similar to-90% at 100 K and 40 kOe), is observed in compounds with intermediate concentrations 0.26 x 0.4, corresponding to the region of incipient ferromagnetism. Аннотация: A transition of the field dependence of the electrical resistivity from a square law (similar to H-2) above T-c to a linear function (similar to H) below T-c is observed in the degenerate ferromagnetic semiconductor HgCr2Se4(n). Together with the large negative magnetoresistance, these magnetoelectric effects correspond to effects observed in the perovskite-type oxides La1-xCaxMnOdelta. Inasmuch as the undoped semiconductor HgCr2Se4 is a ferromagnet with approximately the same critical temperature as the doped semiconductor and in view of the total lack of data on the Jahn-Teller effect in this compound, we infer that our results cast doubt on existing hypotheses (polaron and binary exchange) regarding the origin of the giant magnetoresistance in La1-xCaxMnOdelta. Impurity sd scattering is discussed as a possible magnetoresistance mechanism for both compounds. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. [S1063-7834(99)01710-4].

Аннотация: In order to clarify the mechanisms in charge of broadening of resistive transition R(T) in magnetic fields of bismuth-based polycrystalline high-T (C) superconductor (HTSC), a comparative study of Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3O (x) (BSCCO) and YBa2Cu3O7-delta (YBCO) have been performed. Magnetoresistive effects and irreversibility line obtained from magnetic measurements have been studied. It was established that (1) for YBCO, the smooth part of R(T) dependence unambiguously corresponds to dissipation in the intergrain boundaries for arbitrary magnetic fields; (2) for polycrystalline BSCCO, the smooth part of R(T) dependences correspond to dissipation within intergrain boundary subsystem in the field range H <10(2) Oe only, while standard measurements of R(T) dependences in magnetic field range H > 10(2) Oe reflect the dissipation processes occurring both in intergrain boundary and HTSC grain subsystems; (3) for the high-field range, the contribution from intergrain boundaries of BSCCO can be distinguished from magnetoresistance R(H) dependences obtained at high enough current density on textured samples. It is proposed that various magneto-resistive properties of these classical HTSC systems are due comparatively weak pinning in BSCCO.

Аннотация: We have studied the low-temperature magnetoresistance of Y3/4Lu1/4Ba2Cu3O7-CuO composites obtained by fast sintering technique and established a relation between the probing to critical current density ratio j/j(c) and the shape of the magnetoresistance curve rho(H). For j/j(c) 1, the electric resistance arises at a threshold value of the magnetic field strength H-c. For j/j(c) greater than or equal to 1, a linear variation of rho(H) at 77 K in the range from 0 to 14 Oe can be provided by selecting the CuO content (in the 15-30 vol % interval) and the j value (in the 0.003-0.2 A/cm(2) range). In the latter case, the slope drho/dH (i.e., the sensitivity of the electric resistivity with respect to the magnetic field) is 1-20 mOmega cm/Oe and the relative field-induced increase in the resistivity rho(0)

Аннотация: The correlation between experimental magnetic field dependences of magnetoresistance and magnetization hysteresis in granular YBa2Cu3O7 is established. Within the proposed approach, magnetoresistance is assumed to be determined by the effective field in the intergrain boundaries the ensemble of which is considered to be a Josephson medium. The effective field in the intergrain medium can be written in the form B (eff)(H)=H-4 pi M(H)x alpha, where alpha is the parameter of averaged demagnetizing factors of grains and the degree of flux compression. A comparison of experimental magnetoresistance R(H) and magnetization M(H) hysteresis dependences obtained at different external magnetic field sweep rates yields the value alpha similar to 10, which is caused by the flux compression between grains. The proposed model describes well most of the features of the magnetoresistance hysteresis in granular high-T (C) superconductors.

Аннотация: Nanocrystalline magnetite (Fe3O4) films with various preferred crystallite orientations were grown on oxidized silicon surface by reactive iron deposition in an oxygen atmosphere. Depending on the partial pressure of oxygen (PO2), the evolution of the structural, magnetic, and magnetotransport properties of the grown films was investigated. We found that the growth of films containing only the Fe3O4 phase occurs in a certain PO2 range, and the magnetite crystallites may have (311) or (110) preferred orientation. It was revealed that films with (311) and (110) textures have a column structure. An increase in the PO2 leads to a structure transformation from (311) to (110) texture with larger crystallites. A film with (110) texture showed higher values of saturation magnetization, magnetoresistance and spin polarization. The analysis of approach to magnetic saturation revealed that the local magnetic anisotropy of crystallites in textured films is much higher than the anisotropy of bulk magnetite due to the large surface contribution. The FORC diagram method in combination with the approach to magnetic saturation proved the existence of the exchange coupling between large and small grains. Our results open the reliable route for crystal texture-depending manipulation of functional properties of thin magnetite films for advanced spintronic applications.

Аннотация: The transport and magnetotransport properties of a newly fabricated tunnel structure manganite/depletion layer/manganese silicide have been studied in the current-in-plane (CIP) geometry. A manganite depletion layer in the structure forms a potential barrier sandwiched between two conducting layers, one of manganite and the other of manganese silicide. The voltage-current characteristics of the structure are nonlinear due to switching conducting channels from an upper manganite film to a bottom, more conductive MnSi layer with an increase in the current applied to the structure. Bias current assists tunnelling of a carrier across the depletion layer; thus, a low-resistance contact between the current-carrying electrodes and the bottom layer is established. Below 30 K, both conducting layers are in the ferromagnetic state (magnetic tunnel junction), which allows control of the resistance of the tunnel junction and, consequently, switching of the conducting channels by the magnetic field. This provides a fundamentally new mechanism of magnetoresistance (MR) implementation in the magnetic layered structure with CIP geometry. MR of the structure under study depends on the bias current and can reach values greater than 400% in a magnetic field lower than 1 kOe. A positive MR value is related to peculiarities of the spin-polarized electronic structures of manganites and manganese silicides.

Аннотация: We have studied the temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility and the electron magnetic resonance in Pr1–xSrxMnO3/YSZ polycrystalline films (x = 0.2, 0.4). The paramagnetic properties of samples indicate the presence of short-range-order ferromagnetic correlations above the phase transition temperature (Tc ). The existence region of such correlations has been considered using the Griffith theory.

Аннотация: Granular high-temperature superconductors (HTSs) are characterized by the hysteretic field dependences of magnetoresistance R(H) and critical current IC(H). These hysteretic effects are described within the concept of an effective field in the intergrain medium. The effective field is a superposition of external magnetic field H and the field induced by the magnetic moments of superconducting grains into intergrain spacings (grain boundaries). The magnetization of superconducting grains is determined by two contributions: Meissner (shielding) currents (MC) and trapped magnetic fluxes (Abrikosov vortices (AV)). To develop the concept of an effective field in the intergrain medium, the magnetotransport properties (R and IC) have been compared for two cases: (AV) the magnetization of superconducting grains is only determined by the trapped magnetic flux (zero external field) and (MC) HTS grains are in the Meissner state (the external field is weaker than the first critical field of grains). In a set of experiments, the main features of the hysteretic R(H) and M(H) dependences have been illustrated and the external conditions for implementing the AV and MC states have been established. It has been found that the effects of the Abrikosov vortices and intragrain Meissner currents on an effective field in the intergrain medium at the same magnetization values are noticeably different. This is a nontrivial fact that requires a thorough study of the impact of the anisotropy of the superconducting properties of grains on the configuration of the Meissner currents in them, as well as on the orientation of vortices both inside grains and near their surface. We suggest the explanation of observed stronger effect of the Meissner currents on the intergrain medium as compared with the effect of the Abrikosov vortices.

Аннотация: The Bi2Sn2O7 compound existing simultaneously in two polymorphic modifications, namely, orthorhombic and cubic, has been synthesized for the first time by solid-phase synthesis. The dielectric and electrical properties of the compound have been studied in the temperature range 100 K ˂ T ˂ 500 K. Anomalies in the temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity and the permittivity (imaginary and real parts) have been found at both low and high temperatures. These features are explained in terms of the model of martensitic phase transitions.

Аннотация: An approach to describing the R(H) magnetoresistance hysteresis in granular high-temperature superconductors and behavior of the R(T) resistive transition in these objects in an external magnetic field is proposed. The dissipation is attributed to the subsystem of intergrain boundaries, which form a Josephson junction network. The approach is based on accounting for the effect of magnetic moments of superconducting grains on the resulting (effective) field in the intergrain medium. The described procedure includes (i) establishing of the degree of magnetic flux crowding in the intergrain medium by comparing the experimental data on the R(H) magnetoresistance hysteresis and magnetization M(H), (ii) determining the effective field Beff in the intergrain medium as a function of external field H and temperature T with regard to the thermomagnetic prehistory, and (iii) fitting the experimental R(H) and R(T) dependences using the Arrhenius expression R ∼ exp(–EJ/ kB T), where EJ is the parameter corresponding to the Josephson coupling energy. The fundamental novelty of the proposed approach is the extraction of the functional dependences of EJ on the effective field Beff in the intergrain medium rather than on the external field H, as was made in many previous works. It is shown that the proposed approach makes it possible to adequately describe both the R(H) hysteretic dependences and R(T) dependences of the Y-Ba-Cu-O high-temperature superconductor samples with different morphologies and critical current densities.
