Аннотация: A method for synthesis of carbon nanostructures in a high-frequency arc discharge in the flow of helium (3–4 L/min) is presented. It is shown that the plasma-chemical synthesis of fullerenes and endohedral metal fullerenes (EMFs) can be controlled by changing helium pressure in the chamber. Temperature and electron concentration along the line normal to the discharge axis decrease upon moving away from the axis to the periphery; the larger the pressure, the sharper is the decrease in these parameters. The optimal helium pressure of 98 kPa was found in obtaining the Gd@C82 EMF which corresponds to the maximal EMF yield of 5 wt %. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: A design of a plasma generator, the parameters of the resulting plasma, and the possibilities of its use for the synthesis of nanosized powders and optical emission spectroscopy are described. The device operation is based on the arc discharge of alternating current (66 kHz) in an argon jet between water-cooled metal electrodes. The discharge is stabilized by a flow of isolating gas (helium, nitrogen, air) and an axial magnetic field. The gas flow is fed tangentially to the discharge axis. The plasma between the electrodes has the shape of a cylinder remote from the chamber walls. The temperature and electron concentration in the cross section of the plasma cylinder vary along the radius and take the maximum and minimum values.

Аннотация: The solution of the problem of all-optical (nonmagnetic) confinement of ultracold electron-ion neutral plasma based on selective action on plasma ions with quantum transition J = 1 -> J = 0 of so-called rectified radiation forces in a strong nonmonochromatic light field is suggested. The presented scheme of the three-dimensional dissipative optical trap for plasma allows one to obtain long-lived ultracold plasma with controlled characteristics. The lifetime of the ultracold plasma in such a trap may exceed considerably (by orders of magnitude) the time of free plasma expansion and the lifetime in the (earlier proposed) optical molasses for the ultracold plasma. Аннотация: The deposition of epoxide groups by plasma polymerization opens new horizons for robust and quick immobilization of biomolecules on any type of substrate. However, as of now there are just very few papers dealing with the deposition of epoxy layers by plasma polymerization, probably due to the high reactivity of this group leading to a low functionalization efficiency. In this work we carried out an extensive experimental and theoretical investigation of plasma synthesis of epoxide groups from a low pressure allyl glycydyl ether (AGE) plasma. The influence of composite parameter W/F and the working pressure on the density of epoxide groups and the layer stability was thoroughly addressed. It was found that by increasing the working pressure it is possible to sufficiently raise the concentration of epoxide groups. The composite parameter W/F was shown to be a crucial parameter in affecting the density of epoxides. An optimal value of W/F of around 2.3 eV per molecule leading to the highest density of epoxides produced in the process at 15 Pa was revealed through FT-IR and XPS findings. This value correlates well with the ab initio calculations suggesting that the lowest bond dissociation energy belongs to the C-O bond of the epoxide ring. Therefore, in order to increase the density of epoxides deposited by plasma polymerization, a precursor molecule containing at least two epoxide rings is strongly advised to be employed.

Аннотация: Laser cooling and crystallization of electron-ion plasma is studied using the Brownian dynamics simulation technique and taking into consideration the interaction of ions with the electron subsystem. It has been shown that the nonlinear dependence of laser friction force on the velocity of ions has to be taken into account in order to simulate in an adequate manner the cooling dynamics and obtain a correct estimate for minimum temperatures. It has been found that times required for formation of an ordered ionic structure can be much longer than the typical plasma cooling time.

Аннотация: The bulk nanostructured Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11 alloys were prepared by dynamic compaction and plasma spray deposition techniques. The investigation of structure and magnetic properties of bulk samples was carried out by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and correlation magnetometry. The bulk samples produced by both methods can be characterized as a heterophase system. The highest value of permeability 20 · 103 for plasma spraying coating is achieved when volume fraction of nanocrystalline phase with Curie temperature Tc ∼ 640 K is increased to 30%. The magnetic characteristics, such as the saturation magnetization, the Bloch constant, the local magnetic anisotropy field, the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, and the coercivity remain unchanged after both compaction techniques. It was shown that the plasma spraying method allows to obtain bulk magnetically soft materials with magnetic parameters that are not inferior to the characteristics of a thermally treated rapidly quenched ribbon with the same composition.
