Аннотация:
A method for synthesis of carbon nanostructures in a high-frequency arc discharge in the flow of helium (3–4 L/min) is presented. It is shown that the
plasma
-chemical synthesis of fullerenes and endohedral metal fullerenes (EMFs) can be controlled by changing helium pressure in the chamber. Temperature and electron concentration along the line normal to the discharge axis decrease upon moving away from the axis to the periphery; the larger the pressure, the sharper is the decrease in these parameters. The optimal helium pressure of 98 kPa was found in obtaining the Gd@C82 EMF which corresponds to the maximal EMF yield of 5 wt %. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

A design of a
plasma
generator, the parameters of the resulting
plasma
, and the possibilities of its use for the synthesis of nanosized powders and optical emission spectroscopy are described. The device operation is based on the arc discharge of alternating current (66 kHz) in an argon jet between water-cooled metal electrodes. The discharge is stabilized by a flow of isolating gas (helium, nitrogen, air) and an axial magnetic field. The gas flow is fed tangentially to the discharge axis. The
plasma
between the electrodes has the shape of a cylinder remote from the chamber walls. The temperature and electron concentration in the cross section of the
plasma
cylinder vary along the radius and take the maximum and minimum values.

Аннотация:
The deposition of epoxide groups by
plasma
polymerization opens new horizons for robust and quick immobilization of biomolecules on any type of substrate. However, as of now there are just very few papers dealing with the deposition of epoxy layers by
plasma
polymerization, probably due to the high reactivity of this group leading to a low functionalization efficiency. In this work we carried out an extensive experimental and theoretical investigation of
plasma
synthesis of epoxide groups from a low pressure allyl glycydyl ether (AGE)
plasma
. The influence of composite parameter W/F and the working pressure on the density of epoxide groups and the layer stability was thoroughly addressed. It was found that by increasing the working pressure it is possible to sufficiently raise the concentration of epoxide groups. The composite parameter W/F was shown to be a crucial parameter in affecting the density of epoxides. An optimal value of W/F of around 2.3 eV per molecule leading to the highest density of epoxides produced in the process at 15 Pa was revealed through FT-IR and XPS findings. This value correlates well with the ab initio calculations suggesting that the lowest bond dissociation energy belongs to the C-O bond of the epoxide ring. Therefore, in order to increase the density of epoxides deposited by
plasma
polymerization, a precursor molecule containing at least two epoxide rings is strongly advised to be employed.

Laser cooling and crystallization of electron-ion
plasma
is studied using the Brownian dynamics simulation technique and taking into consideration the interaction of ions with the electron subsystem. It has been shown that the nonlinear dependence of laser friction force on the velocity of ions has to be taken into account in order to simulate in an adequate manner the cooling dynamics and obtain a correct estimate for minimum temperatures. It has been found that times required for formation of an ordered ionic structure can be much longer than the typical
plasma
cooling time.

The bulk nanostructured Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11 alloys were prepared by dynamic compaction and
plasma
spray deposition techniques. The investigation of structure and magnetic properties of bulk samples was carried out by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and correlation magnetometry. The bulk samples produced by both methods can be characterized as a heterophase system. The highest value of permeability 20 · 103 for
plasma
spraying coating is achieved when volume fraction of nanocrystalline phase with Curie temperature Tc ∼ 640 K is increased to 30%. The magnetic characteristics, such as the saturation magnetization, the Bloch constant, the local magnetic anisotropy field, the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, and the coercivity remain unchanged after both compaction techniques. It was shown that the
plasma
spraying method allows to obtain bulk magnetically soft materials with magnetic parameters that are not inferior to the characteristics of a thermally treated rapidly quenched ribbon with the same composition.

The nickel particles with the mean size about 10-20 nm coated with carbon were extracted by the treatment of the carbon condensate with nitric and hydrochloric acids. The initial carbon condensate containing nickel nanoparticles with a graphite conversion was synthesized in the high-frequency carbon-helium arc
plasma
at ambient pressure with the nickel nanoparticles as a catalyst. The nickel content in the nanoparticles was 84.6 wt %. Magnetic properties of the nanoparticles are characterized by the high hysteresis and thermal stability. The sample of compacted nanoparticles is characterized by electrical resistance much higher than it in of compacted initial condensate.

Аннотация:
The results of the effect of helium pressure in the chamber on the amount and composition of the produced fullerenes (C60, C70, etc.) synthesized in the arc
plasma
with graphite electrodes are presented. The findings obtained when the arc is powered by a direct (DC) and alternating (AC) currents of low frequency were compared in the same chamber with the electrodes located at the same angle to each other. These two methods are drastically different. The complete conversion of graphite into fullerene soot in AC occurs, but a part of the graphite is converted into a cathode deposit that does not contain fullerenes in DC, the relative amount of which increases when decreasing the helium pressure in the chamber. The highest fullerene content in fullerene soot of 10.2 wt.% is produced at a pressure of 127.5 kPa in AC arc, but in DC arc, the highest content of fullerenes in fullerene soot of 8.3 wt.% is produced at a pressure of 33.3 kPa.

In this paper, we study particles with metallic core (magnesium) - metal shell (nickel) structure, synthesized in metal-containing
plasma
of high frequency arc discharge. X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray fluorescence analysis and scanning electron microscopy show that the particles have a uniform nickel shell, which is also indirectly confirmed by comparing the results of hydrogenation of Mg and Mg@Ni particles. Measurement of volume magnetization indicates that shell thickness of most particles is not more than 22 nm.В данной работе исследованы частицы со структурой металлическое ядро (магний) - металлическая оболочка (никель), полученные в металлсодержащей высокочастотной плазме дугового разряда. Методами рентгенофазового анализа, рентгенофлуоресцентного анализа, сканирующей электронной микроскопии показано, что частицы имеют сплошную никелевую оболочку, что также косвенно подтверждается сравнением результатов гидрирования частиц Mg и Mg@Ni. С помощью измерений объемной намагниченности установлено, что наибольшая часть частиц имеет толщину оболочек не более 22 нм.

The development of an aptamer-based electrochemical sensor for lung cancer detection is presented in this work. A highly specific DNA-aptamer, LC-18, selected to postoperative lung cancer tissues was immobilized onto a gold microelectrode and electrochemical measurements were performed in a solution containing the redox marker ferrocyanide/ferricyanide. The aptamer protein targets were harvested from blood
plasma
of lung cancer patients by using streptavidin paramagnetic beads and square wave voltammetry of the samples was performed at various concentrations. In order to enhance the sensitivity of the aptasensor, silica-coated iron oxide magnetic beads grafted with hydrophobic C8 and C4 alkyl groups were used in a sandwich detection approach. Addition of hydrophobic beads increased the detection limit by 100 times. The detection limit of the LC-18 aptasensor was enhanced by the beads to 0.023 ng/mL. The formation of the aptamer -protein -bead sandwich on the electrode surface was visualized by electron microcopy. As a result, the electrochemical aptasensor was able to detect cancer-related targets in crude blood
plasma
of lung cancer patients.

Thermodynamic estimates are presented for the formation of spheroidal and flat carbon clusters from reactant species of different charges. Charge is shown to strongly influence the geometry and stability of flat clusters. Changes in the charge of flat clusters can promote both their folding to spheroidal structures and their dissociation. It is concluded that the fluctuations of electron concentration in carbon plasmas can result in the accumulation of fullerene clusters and the dissociation of flat clusters. We study the magnetic field and
plasma
parameters downstream of a fast shock as functions of normalized upstream parameters and the rate of pressure anisotropy (defined as the ratio of perpendicular to parallel pressure). We analyse two cases: with the shock (i) perpendicular and (ii) inclined with respect to the magnetic field. The relations on the fast, shock in a magnetized anisotropic
plasma
are solved taking into account the criteria for the mirror instability and firehose instability bounding the pressure anisotropy downstream of the shock. Our analysis shows that the parallel pressure and the parallel temperature as well as the tangential component of the velocity are the parameters that are most sensitive to the rate of pressure anisotropy. The variations of the other parameters, namely density, normal velocity, tangential component of the magnetic field, perpendicular pressure, and perpendicular temperature are much less pronounced, in particular when the perpendicular pressure exceeds the parallel pressure. The variations of all parameters increase substantially for a very low rate of anisotropy, which is bounded by the firehose instability in the case of inclined shocks. Using the criterion for mirror instability as a closure relation for the jump conditions at the fast shock, we obtain the
plasma
parameters and the magnetic field downstream of the shock as functions of the Alfven Mach number. For each Alfven Mach number, the criterion for mirror instability determines the minimum jumps in such parameters as density, tangential magnetic field component, parallel pressure, and temperature. and determines the maximum values of the velocity components and the perpendicular temperature. plasma
physics. Observations of the field and
plasma
behaviour in the solar wind as well as in the Earth's magnetosheath have highlighted the need for an MHD model where the
plasma
pressure is treated as a tensor.

Nanostructured and amorphous materials exhibit unique and enhanced chemical, mechanical, and magnetic properties [1,2]. The industrial applications of these materials rely on their successful consolidation into bulk body while preserving their structures. Nanostructured and amorphous coatings without grain growth can be formed by
plasma
spray deposition [3-5]. In this case the microstructure of the bulk coating can be tuned from full amorphous state to composite with nano-crystalline particles in the amorphous matrix, and finally into nanostructured state accompanying with the magnetic properties changes. It was found [6] that the desired magnetic properties of Co58Ni10Fe5B16Si11 bulk alloy (zero magnetostriction, high initial and maximum magnetic permeability, etc.) can be achieved by formation of coating with certain amorphous/crystalline phase ratio. In the present work, the role of the
plasma
spray deposition regimes in the control of microstructure and magnetic property of the bulk coating, the mechanism for the nanocrystalline and amorphous structure formation, and the relation between the microstructure and magnetic properties are discussed. © 2015 IEEE.
