Аннотация: It is shown that annealing 550°C of the Fe/Pt bilayer films fabricated by layer-by-layer deposition onto polycrystalline Al2O3 substrates in an atomic ratio of Fe: Pt = 71: 29 leads to the formation of the inplane rotational magnetic anisotropy with the easy axis that can be aligned by magnetic field in any direction in the film plane. The increase in the Pt content in the investigated film system to 50 at % leads to an increase in the anisotropy constant to 6.5 × 106 erg/cm3, which exceeds the value in the Fe71Pt29 sample by a factor of 6. In addition to the rotational anisotropy, the Fe50Pt50 films are characterized by the perpendicular rotational magnetic anisotropy, which is higher than the film shape anisotropy. Therefore, the easy axis in these samples can be aligned by magnetic field in any spatial direction. According to the X-ray and magnetic measurement data, the synthesized samples have a polycrystalline structure consisting of two ordered phases: magnetically hard L10–FePt and magnetically soft L12–Fe3Pt. This gives us grounds to suggest that the rotational magnetic anisotropy originates from the epitaxial intergrowth and exchange coupling of these two phases.

Аннотация: Magnetization loops of polycrystalline high-Tc superconductors always are semireversible; they have some asymmetry relative to field axis. These magnetization loops are described successfully by the extended critical state model, which accounts the equilibrium magnetization of the grain surface. The model is applied to determine the intragranular critical current density, the depth of the equilibrium surface region and the grain size from magnetic measurements. The dependence of the critical current density on the magnetic field, the pinning force scaling, the full penetration field and the irreversibility field are discussed.Асимметричные петли намагниченности высокотемпературных сверхпроводников успешно описываются расширенной моделью критического состояния. Внутригранульная плотность критического тока, глубина приповерхностного слоя с равновесной намагниченностью и размер гранул могут быть получены из магнитных измерений.

Аннотация: This work investigates the Si/Fe flux ratio (2 and 0.34) influence on the growth of β-FeSi2 polycrystalline thin films on Si(100) substrate at 630 °C. Lattice deformations for the films obtained are confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The volume unit cell deviation from that of β-FeSi2 single crystal are 1.99% and 1.1% for Si/Fe =2 and Si/Fe =0.34, respectively. Absorption measurements show that the indirect transition (~ 0.704 eV) of the Si/Fe =0.34 sample changes to the direct transition with a bandgap value of ~0.816 eV for the sample prepared at Si/Fe =2. The absorption spectrum of the Si/Fe =0.34 sample exhibits an additional peak located below the bandgap energy value with the absorption maximum of ~0.36 eV. Surface magneto-optic Kerr effect (SMOKE) measurements detect the ferromagnetic behavior of the β-FeSi2 polycrystalline films grown at Si/Fe =0.34 at T=10 K, but no ferromagnetism was observed in the samples grown at Si/Fe =2. Theoretical calculations refute that the cell deformation can cause the emergence of magnetization and argue that the origin of the ferromagnetism, as well as the lower absorption peak, is β-FeSi2 stoichiometry deviations. Raman spectroscopy measurements evidence that the film obtained at Si/Fe flux ratio equal to 0.34 has the better crystallinity than the Si/Fe =2 sample.

Аннотация: The correlation between the dc and ac electrical resistance and the structural, magnetic, and thermoelectric properties of polycrystalline MnSe1−X Te Х (0.3 ≤ X ≤ 0.4) manganese chalcogenide films in the temperature range of 80–400 K has been investigated. Inhomogeneous electronic states and transitions between them accompanied by structural lattice deformations have been found at temperatures including the Neel temperature region. The magnetic susceptibility maximum above the Neel temperature in a magnetic field of 8.6 kOe has been observed. Temperature ranges of the coexistence of two types of electrically inhomogeneous states have been established by impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range of 0.1–1000 kHz and the change of the hopping conductivity for diffusion one accompanied by the magnetic susceptibility minimum has been found. The magnetoresistance in magnetic fields of up to 12 kОе has been established. It has been revealed that the thermopower and magnetoresistance change its sign upon heating. The experimental data are explained using a spin polaron model with the localization of polarons and formation of the electron phase-separation. The alternation of magnetoresistance in sign is attributed to the ferromagnetic orbital ordering of electrons and the negative magnetoresistance is explained by suppression of spin fluctuations in a magnetic field.

Аннотация: To establish the polymorphic transition in polycrystalline MnSe1–ХTeХ (0.1 ≤ X ≤ 0.2) films, their structural, magnetic, kinetic, and optical properties have been investigated in the temperature range of 77–800 K and magnetic fields of up to 12 kOe. Using X-ray diffraction analysis, the coexistence of two crystalline phases in the films has been found. The magnetic moment of the films has been shown to increase with the increasing substitute concentration and decreasing temperature. The impedance maxima and thermopower sign change in the region of the polymorphic and magnetic transitions have been observed. The variation in the structural characteristics has been established using the infrared spectroscopy and thermal expansion coefficient data. The experimental results are explained within a model of domains and domain walls.С целью обнаружения полиморфного перехода в поликристаллических пленках системы MnSe1-ХTeХ с (0.1 ≤ X ≤ 0.2) проведены комплексные исследования структурных, магнитных, кинетических и оптических свойств в интервале температур 77-800К в магнитных полях до 12 кЭ. Найдено сосуществование двух кристаллических фаз методом рентгеноструктурного анализа. Обнаружено увеличение магнитного момента с ростом концентрации и с понижением температуры. Найдены максимумы импеданса, сопротивления и изменение знака термоЭДС в области полиморфного и магнитного переходов. Установлено изменение структурных характеристик из ИК спектроcкопии, коэффициента температурного линейного расширения пленок. Экспериментальные данные объясняются в модели существования доменов и доменных границ.

Аннотация: The electrical and galvanomagnetic properties of the Gd0.2Mn0.8Se solid solutions are investigated in zero magnetic field and in a field of 13 kOe in the temperature range of 80–400 K. The negative magnetoresistance below room temperature and hysteresis of the I–V characteristics are found. The change in the magnetoresistance sign and thermopower with increasing temperature is established. The carrier type is determined from the Hall constant; the difference between the thermopower and Hall coefficient signs at high temperatures is established. The experimental data are explained using the model of orbital ordering and spin-orbit interaction.

Аннотация: MnGeO3 single-crystal samples have been synthesized by optical zonal melting and spontaneous crystallization. X-ray crystal analysis showed the first sample to be a two-phase one with phase ratio as follows: 17% - monoclinic C2/c, and 83% - orthorhombic Pbca; the phase ratio of the second sample was unknown. Raman spectra have been produced for these samples. Lattice dynamics has been simulated and polarization dependencies of lines' intensities have been analyzed to interpret experimental Raman spectra and to attribute lines to the spectra of monoclinic and orthorhombic phases. Аннотация: The dimension D of a polycrystalline film and the optical anisotropy m = εz/εx of uniaxial crystallites with the principal components εx = εy and εz of the tensor of the dielectric constant have been shown to produce a strong influence on the effective dielectric constant εD* and the effective refractive index nD* = (εD*)1/2 of the film in the optical transparency region, as well as on the boundaries of the intervals BDl ≤ εD* ≤ BDu. The intervals Δ2(m) = B2l–B2u and Δ3(m) = B3l–B3u are separated by a gap for m in the range 1 m 2, whereas the theoretical dependence ε2*(m) is separated by a gap from the interval Δ3(m) for m in the range 1 m 4. This is confirmed by a comparison of the experimental (noP) and theoretical (nD*) ordinary refractive indices for uniaxial polycrystalline films of the conjugated polymer poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) with uniaxial crystallites and appropriate values of m. In the visible transparency region of the PPV films with a change in m(λ) in the range 2 m(λ) 3 due to the dependence of the components εx,z(λ) on the light wavelength λ, the refractive indices noP2(λ) 3 near the electronic absorption band of the crystallites, the values of εoP(λ) lie in the region of the overlap of the intervals Δ2(m) and Δ3(m). The boundaries mc of the range 1 m mc are determined, for which the interval Δ2(m) is separated by a gap from the dependences ε3*(m) corresponding to the effective medium theory with spherical crystallites and hierarchical models of a polycrystal, as well as from the proposed new dependence ε3*(m).

Аннотация: We study the effect of the structure on critical currents and current-voltage characteristics (CVC's) of foamed bismuth-based polycrystalline high-temperature superconductors (HTSC). The fractal cluster structure of superconducting foams has been observed and the fractal dimension of boundaries between superconducting and normal clusters has been determined. Based on the magnetic and transport properties of the foamed polycrystalline superconductors, we have shown that the initial parts of CVC's of the superconducting foams are described well by the model that accounts the magnetic flux trapping in fractal clusters of a normal phase. Аннотация: MnGeO3 single crystals have been grown by a flux method. The obtained MnGeO3 is orthorhombic; a P-bca space group does not undergo any structural phase transitions in the range from room temperature to 900 degrees C. Magnetic measurements carried out for the first time on the MnGeO3 single crystal have revealed higher values (T-N = 38 K and theta = -100 K) as compared to the data for polycrystalline samples reported in the literature (T-N =10 K and 14 K, theta = -54 K and -46 K). These magnetic parameters for polycrystalline samples synthesized by us are close to the literature data. A Mossbauer spectrum taken at T=300 K for a sample containing 5% (Fe2O3)-O-57 shows that manganese ions, Mn2+, occupy two non-equivalent positions and iron is included ina sublattice as Fe2+ and distributed among two positions substituting Mn2+. In this study, the magnetic characteristics are shown to be sensitive even to minor impurity amounts. The MnGeO3 magnetic structure and one of possible reasons causing the effect of impurities on the MnGeO3 magnetic properties are considered in the framework of a simple indirect coupling model. Аннотация: The magnetic structure of a polycrystalline nanowire at the weak or missing magnetostatic interaction exhibits the special self-organization of magnetization. As is known, the magnetization structure forming in a random crystallographic anisotropy field has a characteristic length range, which involves tens and hundreds of crystallites. This leads to the occurrence of stochastic domains. The induced uniform anisotropy of magnetostatic nature or the texture co-directed with the crystallite anisotropy axes masks the picture of stochastic domains. Nevertheless, as we show, the information on stochastic domains remains in the magnetization structure. The experimental techniques for obtaining information on the magnetic properties of stochastic domains are proposed.

Аннотация: The regularities of phase formation and thermal stability in Fe3Si(111)/Si(111) structure at stepped vacuum annealing (350, 450 and 550 °C) were investigated. The layer of 32 nm Fe3Si was deposited onto Si(111) substrate by molecular beam epitaxy at 260 °C. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements demonstrated that the film thickness increases by ∼19 % at 350 °C annealing without changing the phase composition. The polycrystalline -FeSi sublayer was formed on the interface at 450 °C annealing. Further annealing at 550 °C led to the ∼ 80 nm polycrystalline film formation containing the crystallites of -FeSi, Fe5Si3, and β-FeSi2 phases.

Аннотация: Features of the optical and magneto-optical properties of polycrystalline Со–Р films with nanometer thickness are established experimentally. It is found that the spectra of optical parameters n and k and magnetic circular dichroism depend largely on film thickness, suggesting that magneto-optical activity is governed by different mechanisms in thin films and bulk materials. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.

Аннотация: The sign reversal of both magnetization and exchange bias field was studied in the polycrystalline Ni5.33Ta0.67B2O10. The crystal structure of Ni5.33Ta0.67B2O10 is quasi–low dimensional due to NiO6/TaO6 octahedra forming two dimensional infinite layers. The antiferromagnetic/ferrimagnetic phase transition was observed at TN = 165 K. The negative exchange bias effect was found in the 30–90 K temperature range, whereas the positive exchange bias effect was observed at temperatures below 30 K. We assume that the exchange bias effect is due to different types of magnetic ordering of Ni2+ magnetic moments in two layers.
