Аннотация: Many applications and environmental impact of silver-bearing nanomaterials critically depend upon their specific reactivity, which is still poorly understood. Here, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) of about 3-5 nm and 10-12 nm in diameter, uncapped and capped with l-glucose or citrate, were prepared, characterized using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, SAXS, TEM, and their (electro) chemical oxidation was examined in comparison with each other and bulk metal applying scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and XPS. A resistive switching effect was found in the tunneling spectra measured in air at the smaller uncapped Ag NPs deposited on HOPG and was interpreted in terms of Ag transfer between the particle and the probe. The anodic oxidation of these Ag NPs in 1 M NaOH yielded 3D Ag2O, while only a layer of "primary"Ag(I) oxide emerged on larger uncapped nanoparticles during the potential sweep. The formation of AgO at higher potentials proceeded readily at the "primary"oxide but was retarded at the smaller NPs. The citrate- and glucose-capping substantially impeded the formation both of Ag2O and AgO. The findings highlighted, particularly, a non-trivial effect of particle size and transient mobilization of Ag species on the reactions of silver nanoparticles. (c) 2014 Elsevier B.V. Аннотация: We propose an optodynamical model of interaction of pulsed laser radiation with aggregates of spherical metallic nanoparticles embedded into host media. The model takes into account polydispersity of particles, pair interactions between the particles, dissipation of absorbed energy, heating and melting of the metallic core of particles and of their polymer adsorption layers, and heat exchange between electron and ion components of the particle material as well as heat exchange with the interparticle medium. Temperature dependence of the electron relaxation constant of the particle material and the effect of this dependence on interaction of nanoparticles with laser radiation are first taken into consideration. We study in detail light-induced processes in the simplest resonant domains of multiparticle aggregates consisting of two particles of an arbitrary size in aqueous medium. Optical interparticle forces are realized due to the light-induced dipole interaction. The dipole moment of each particle is calculated by the coupled dipole method (with correction for the effect of higher multipoles). We determined the role of various interrelated factors leading to photomodification of resonant domains and found an essential difference in the photomodification mechanisms between polydisperse and monodisperse nanostructures.

Аннотация: The crystal structure of catena-(μ4-1,3-diethyl-2-thiobarbiturato-O,O’,S,S)silver(I) [Ag(μ4-DETBA-O,O’,S,S] (1), where HDETBA is 1,3-diethyl-2-thiobarbituric acid C8H12N2O2S, has been solved by X-ray powder diffraction. Crystals of complex 1 are monoclinic, a = 7.8339(2) Å, b = 15.4970(4) Å, c = 8.7502(2) Å, β = 111.916(2)°, V = 985.53(5) Å3, space group P21/c, Z = 4. The Ag+ ion is coordinated by two oxygen atoms and two sulfur atoms to form a distorted tetrahedron. Tetrahedra share sulfur atom vertices to form infinite chains linked via bridging DETBA− ions into a three-dimensional framework. No hydrogen bonds have been found in the structure, but π-π interaction is observed between DETBA− ions.

Аннотация: Magnetoresistance of bulk textured Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox + Ag ceramics has been studied in the magnetic fields applied parallel and perpendicular to a-b planes of Bi2223 crystallites. Besides well known anisotropy of magnetoresistance of textured superconductors (R-H parallel to c RH parallel to a-b), anisotropic hysteresis of R(H) dependences was investigated. Parameters characterizing hysteretic R(H) curves differ for the cases H parallel to c and H parallel to a-b. This behavior is explained within the model of a granular superconductor where the total magnetic induction in the intercrystallite boundaries is superposition of the external field and the magnetic field induced by dipole magnetic moments of neighbor crystallites. Аннотация: A new method of preparation of bulk textured Bi2223 ceramics and Bi2223 + Ag composites, based on room temperature pressing of foamed precursor (Bi2223, Bi2223 + Ag) in a liquid medium, is proposed. SEM and XRD data prove a high degree of texture of the bulk samples obtained. Magnetic measurements performed in directions H parallel to c-axis and H parallel to a-b-planes of Bi2223 crystallites demonstrates anisotropy of magnetization confirming the texture of the ceramics. The materials obtained possess large diamagnetic response in the direction H parallel to a-b-planes of Bi2223 crystallites at both 77.4 and 4.2 K.

Аннотация: We calculate the quasistatic electromagnetic density of states for aggregates of touching spheres, in particular, linear chains and computer-generated random fractal aggregates. Multipole moments with orders of up to L=64 are taken into account for random aggregates with the number of particles of up to N=100 and up to L=8000 for linear chains. Extensive comparisons with the dipole approximation and geometrical cluster renormalization method are performed. Extinction spectra are calculated for several metals and black carbon. Long wavelength electromagnetic properties of fractal aggregates are considered in details.

Аннотация: Conditions for a change in the polarization selectivity of dips in the plasmon absorption spectra of fractal silver nanocomposites irradiated by pulsed laser radiation are studied. The energy thresholds of the polarization selectivity are evaluated, and the polarization and spectral threshold characteristics are compared. Mechanisms behind the correlation between the fractal structure of the nanocomposites, on the one hand, and their optical and photochromic properties, on the other hand, are discussed. Аннотация: We present an experimental spectroscopic study of large random colloidal aggregates of silver nanoparticles undergoing local restructuring. We argue that such well-known phenomena as strong fluctuation of local electromagnetic fields, appearance of "hot spots" and enhancement of nonlinear optical responses depend on the local structure on the scales of several nanosphere diameters, rather than the large-scale fractal geometry of the sample. Аннотация: The optical Tamm states (OTSs) localized at the edges of a photonic crystal bounded by a nanoporous silver (NPS) film are investigated. NPS involves spherical vacuum nanopores dispersed in the metal matrix and is characterized by the effective resonance permittivity. The transmission, reflection, and absorption spectra of the structures under study at the normal incidence of light are calculated. It is shown that each Tamm state has its own frequency range where the real part of effective permittivity is negative. The light field localization at the high- and low-frequency OTSs is investigated. The specific features of spectral manifestation of the OTSs are studied in dependence on the nanopore concentration in the metal matrix and on the NPS film thickness.

Аннотация: We have studied light induced processes in nanocolloids and composite materials containing ordered and disordered aggregates of plasmonic nanoparticles accompanied by their strong heating. A universal comprehensive physical model that combines mechanical, electrodynamical, and thermal interactions at nanoscale has been developed as a tool for investigations. This model was used to gain deep insight on phenomena that take place in nanoparticle aggregates under high-intensity pulsed laser radiation resulting in the suppression of nanoparticle resonant properties. Verification of the model was carried out with single colloidal Au and Ag nanoparticles and their aggregates. © 2017 Optical Society of America.

Аннотация: The model of a polarization-preserving anisotropic mirror is proposed. The mirror is a plane boundary of a metal–dielectric nanocomposite that consists of silver spheroidal nanoparticles dispersed in a transparent matrix. The dependence of reflection spectra on the shape of the nanoparticles is studied. It is shown that in one region of the spectrum, the mirror preserves the sign of polarization in the reflected light. © 2017, Allerton Press, Inc.

Аннотация: Experimental data have been presented on the influence of silver on the viscosity and thermal conductivity of a dispersion of diamond nanoparticles. A stable dispersion (5 wt %) of detonation nanodiamond particles has been used in the experiments. Silver ions have been introduced electrolytically into the dispersion of diamond nanoparticles. Silver concentration was not higher than 0.05 wt %. It has been shown that the introduction of silver ions significantly affects the thermal conductivity and viscosity of the dispersion.

Аннотация: We have shown significant suppression of resonant properties of metallic nanoparticles at the surface plasmon frequency during the phase transition “solid–liquid” in the basic materials of nanoplasmonics (Ag, Au). Using experimental values of the optical constants of liquid and solid metals, we have calculated nanoparticle plasmonic absorption spectra. The effect was demonstrated for single particles, dimers and trimers, as well as for the large multiparticle colloidal aggregates. Experimental verification was performed for single Au nanoparticles heated to the melting temperature and above up to full suppression of the surface plasmon resonance. It is emphasized that this effect may underlie the nonlinear optical response of composite materials containing plasmonic nanoparticles and their aggregates. © 2017, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
