Аннотация:
The magnetic, electronic, and polarization properties of the SrFeO3 and SrMnO3 compounds with a perovskite structure are calculated using the density functional theory in the bulk and thin-film states. A ferroelectric instability is found to be absent in the bulk state, and the polar mode is softened in the thin-film state of SrMnO3 in the presence of tensile stresses in the substrate. As a result, a polar phase with a polarization of 23 μC/cm2 appears, which agrees with experimental data. The study of the magnetic and electronic properties demonstrates the existence of G-type antiferromagnetic ordering in SrMnO3 and the appearance of a dielectric gap of about 1.5 eV in its thin film. A ferromagnetic phase with metallic conduction in both the bulk and thin-film states is detected in SrFeO3.

Аннотация:
Three new alkaline earth metal complexes, [Ca2(H2O)8(μ2-HTBA-O,O′)2(HTBA-O)2] (1), [Ca(H2O)5(HTBA-O)2]·2H2O (2), and [Sr(H2O)4(μ2-HTBA-O,S)2]n (3) (H2TBA = 2-thiobarbituric acid, C4H4N2O2S), were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, TG-DSC, and single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction data revealed that 1 and 2 are discrete structures, whereas 3 is a polymer. In 1 and 2, Ca2+ is seven-coordinate and forms a monocapped trigonal prism. In 1, the prisms are pairwise connected with the assistance of two [μ2-HTBA-O,O′]− ligands. In 3, Sr2+ is coordinated by four monodentate HTBA− via S or O donors and four waters, with the formation of a distorted square antiprism. The antiprisms are connected by μ2-O,S bridging HTBA−. Hydrogen bonding involving coordinated water and π–π interactions plays an important role in construction of the supramolecular 3-D structures in 1–3. Infrared spectroscopic data supported the structural data. The thermal stability of 1–3 decreases in the order 1 > 2 > 3. Dehydration of 1–3 was a multi-step process, followed by exothermic oxidative degradation of the 2-thiobarbiturate moiety between 290 and 800 °C.

Cerenkov nonlinear diffraction of femtosecond pulses in one-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystal of
strontium
tetraborate was studied theoretically and experimentally in both frequency and time domains. Spectral features of second harmonic radiation were measured in the course of mapping the nonlinear photonic crystal structure. The local second harmonic spectrum demonstrates complex angular behavior within the beam cross section. The spectral width of the second harmonic radiation is found to be fundamental beam size-dependent, and optimal focusing should be used for exact conversion of the fundamental spectrum into the second harmonic one. Experimental results are in excellent agreement with calculations. Maximum second harmonic generation efficiency was up to 2.1% at pumping by a femtosecond oscillator. The properties of NPC structures in
strontium
tetraborate are analyzed. Different types of NPC structures are revealed that possess different nonlinear properties, and their spectral dependences of frequency conversion efficiency are calculated and compared. Experimental study of these structures is reported for the process of doubling of the second harmonic of fs Ti:S laser. Tuning of generated radiation is obtained in the range 187.5 - 232.5 nm, with extreme insensitivity to the angular orientation of NPC. Behavior of tuning curve along investigated fundamental wave range is similar in all studied samples, but efficiency obtained depends on the type of structure. Conversion efficiency and spectral quality of generated radiation is experimentally shown to grow better when using NPC with improved structure. Prospects of VUV converter on a single NPC are discussed. NPCs of SBO are demonstrated to be useful for autocorrelation diagnostics both in random QPM geometry and in the geometry of nonlinear diffraction from virtual beam.

Noncollinear random quasi-phase-matched frequency doubling in nonlinear photonic crystal (NPC) of
strontium
tetraborate (SBO) can be used for background-free autocorrelation measurements of ultrashort pulses in wide spectral range without any angular tuning of nonlinear photonic crystal. Nonuniformity of reciprocal superlattice vectors spectrum of random structure does not affect the accuracy of measurement. Nonlinear photonic crystals of
strontium

Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy are used to study La2CuO4–La1.56Sr0.44CuO4 composites with different annealing times. Maps of the
strontium
distribution for such systems are calculated and compared to experimental data obtained for the area of contact between two dissimilar granules. The coefficient of lattice diffusion of
strontium
is found. At the areas of contact between La2CuO4 and La1.56Sr0.44CuO4 granules, the
strontium
concentration corresponds to superconducting phase La2−xSrxCuO4 with x = 0.05–0.25. The technological parameters of synthesis affect the size and number of superconducting and normal regions. Prolonged annealing lowers the gradient of the
strontium
concentration, which halts the increase in the size of the superconducting regions. This saturation confirms the diffusion front model.

The Sr1-xSmxTiO3 (х = 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, 0.2)
strontium
titanate solid solutions were prepared from oxides and carbonates using a conventional ceramic technology based on the mechanochemical activation. The electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient of the synthesized compounds were measured in the temperature range from 300 to 800 K. We found that the properties of the samples significantly depend on the preliminary mechanochemical activation. The thermoelectric power factor attains maximum value in the hydrogen reduced samples with concentration of х = 0.05 and 0.075 obtained from nanoparticles: 5.5 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.95Sm0.05TiO3 (580 K) and 4.10 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.925Sm0.075TiO3 (650 K). An increase in the annealing temperature of mechanically activated samples leads to an even greater increase in electrical conductivity and power factor: 9.2 μW/(cm · K2) for Sr0.925Sm0.075TiO3 (650 K).

Аннотация:
A coordinated investigation of the magnetic and electrical properties of polycrystalline cobalt oxide compounds CdCoO3, Gd0.9Ba0.1CoO3, and Gd0.9Sr0.1CoO3 is carried out. Undoped GdCoO3 reveals a low conductivity; a magnetic moment of 7.4 mu(B) per molecule, which is less than the theoretical value for the Gd3+ ion; and an asymptotic Curie temperature of -6 K. Doping GdCoO3 with barium and
strontium
to substitution of 10 at. % Gd brings about an increase in the conductivity and magnetic transitions at T = 300 K for Gd0.9Ba0.1CoO3 and T = 170 K for Gd0.9Sr0.1CoO3. The magnetization anomalies imply the formation of magnetic clusters. The behavior of the electrical conductivity at high temperatures suggests a variable activation energy. At low temperatures, Mott hopping conduction sets in.

Аннотация:
The spectral dependences of X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES) and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) and the field dependences of XMCD near the K edge of Mn and the L2,3 edges of Pr in the Pr0.8Sr0.2MnO3 and Pr0.6Sr0.4MnO3 films at T = 90 K are studied. The spectral dependences point to a mixed valence state of Mn and Pr in the films. It is found that, as compared to XANES, XMCD is more sensitive to the valence state of Pr4+. The field dependences of XMCD point to ferromagnetic behavior of Mn ions and the Van Vleck paramagnetism of Pr ions, which makes a significant contribution to the total magnetization of the films. It is shown that as the Sr concentration increases, the XMCD intensity at the K edge of Mn increases, which indicates a growth of the total magnetic moment of the film due to an increase in the 4p–3d hybridization.

Аннотация:
Basic experimental and theoretical results on ruthenates and rutheno-cuprates are reviewed. The electronic structure of various ruthenates and exotic superconductivity in Sr2RuO4 with spin-triplet pairing are described. The complex phase diagram of Ca2-xSrxRuO4, involving competing magnetic phases and metal-insulator transitions, is described, as are the exotic magnetic properties of Sr3Ru2O7 and of the double perovskite Sr2YRuO6, and the coexistence of superconductivity and magnetism in the rutheno-cuprate RuSr2GdCu2O8. Possible applications of Sr2RuO4 and SrRuO3 are considered. The effect of strong electron correlations is discussed, and the properties of ruthenates and cuprates are compared.

Аннотация:
The second harmonic generation (SHG) of the femtosecond titanium-sapphire laser radiation was experimentally studied in the mode of nonlinear diffraction in the nonlinear photonic
strontium
tetraborate crystal. The spectrum of reciprocal lattice vectors of domain structures includes components responsible for the efficient frequency-tunable SHG in the spectral range of 355-510 nm. The maximum SHG efficiency was 1.9%. The SHG spectrum narrowing does not exceed 10-20%. The measured spectral dependence of the nonlinear diffraction angle is in good agreement with calculation.

Аннотация:
The spins of Ru5+ ions in Sr2YRuO6 form a face-centered cubic lattice with antiferromagnetic nearest neighbor interaction J approximate to 25 meV. The antiferromagnetic structure of the first type experimentally observed below the Neel temperature T-N = 26 K corresponds to four frustrated spins of 12 nearest neighbors. In the Heisenberg model in the spin-wave approximation, the frustrations already cause instability of the antiferromagnetic state at T = 0 K. This state is stabilized by weak anisotropy D or exchange interaction I with the next-nearest neighbors. Low D/J similar to I/J similar to 10(-3) values correspond to the experimental T-N and sublattice magnetic moment values. (C) 2003 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
