Аннотация: Semiconductor BiFe0.95Co0.05O3 thin-film compounds have been synthesized by a burst technique. The film surface morphology and the effect of electronic doping via substitution of cobalt ions for trivalent iron on the optical, magnetic, and kinetic properties have been investigated in the temperature range of 77-600 K in magnetic fields of up to 12 kOe. Two electron relaxation channels have been found in the impedance spectrum in the frequency range of 0.1-1000 kHz. The negative magnetoresistance in the anomalous magnetization region and the maximum magnetoimpedance in the vicinity of the surface phase transition have been established. Using the Hall measurements, carrier types dominating in the magnetoresistance and magnetoimpedance effects have been determined. The magnetization anomalies have been explained in the model of superparamagnetic clusters and the magnetoresistance, by the carrier scattering by spin fluctuations.

Аннотация: Zero thermal expansion (ZTE) materials, keeping size constant as temperature varies, are valuable for resisting the deterioration of the performance from environmental temperature fluctuation, but they are rarely discovered due to the counterintuitive temperature-size effect. Herein, we demonstrate that a family of borates with sodalite cage structure, Zn4B6O12X (X = O, S, Se), exhibits intrinsic isotropic near-ZTE behaviors from 5 to 300 K. The very low thermal expansion is mainly owing to the coupling rotation of [BO4] rigid groups constrained by the bonds between Zn and cage-edged O atoms, while the central atoms in the cage have a negligible contribution. Our study has significant implications on the understanding of the ZTE mechanism and exploration of new ZTE materials.

Аннотация: Highly efficient cyan‐emitting phosphor materials are indispensable for closing the cyan gap in spectra of the traditional phosphor‐converted white light‐emitting diodes (WLEDs) to achieve high‐quality full‐spectrum white lighting. In this work, bright cyan‐emitting Ca3Ga4O9 (CGO):0.02Bi3+,0.07Zn2+ phosphor is developed to bridge the cyan gap. Such a Bi3+,Zn2+ codoping enhances the cyan emission of CGO:0.02Bi3+ by 4.1 times due to the influence of morphology and size of phosphor particles, charge compensation and lattice distortion. Interestingly, codoping La3+ ions into the current system can achieve a photoluminescence tuning of CGO:0.02Bi3+ from cyan to yellowish‐green by crystallographic site engineering. Besides, Bi3+–Eu3+ energy transfer is successfully realized in CGO:0.02Bi3+,0.07Zn2+,nEu3+ phosphors and the emission color tuning from cyan to orange is observed. The investigation of thermal quenching behaviors reveals that the incorporation of Zn2+ and La3+ improves the thermal stability of CGO:0.02Bi3+. Finally, CGO:0.02Bi3+,0.07Zn2+,0.10Eu3+ phosphor is employed to obtain a single‐phased warm WLED device. A full‐spectrum WLED device with remarkable color rendering index (Ra) of 97.4 and high luminous efficiency of 69.72 lm W−1 is generated by utilizing CGO:0.02Bi3+,0.07Zn2+ phosphor. This result suggests the important effect of CGO:0.02Bi3+,0.07Zn2+ phosphor on closing the cyan gap, providing new insights of cyan‐emitting phosphors applied in full‐spectrum white lighting.

Аннотация: A novel La2Mg1.14Zr0.86O6:Bi3+ double perovskite phosphor with excitation-induced blue/green photoluminescence tuning is reported. By designing Bi3+ → Eu3+ energy transfer, single-composition white light with wide-scale adjustable corrected color temperatures (CCTs) is successfully achieved. This work initiates a new insight to explore phosphors with excitation-induced photoluminescence tuning and wide CCT control for future intelligent LED lighting.

Аннотация: The structural phase transitions in diphenylalanine microtubes caused by an increase in the non-hydrostatic pressure have been examined. Raman scattering investigations have been carried out and the results obtained have been interpreted and analyzed. Spectral variations in the ranges of phenyl ring vibrations and high-frequency oscillations of NH and CH groups have been analyzed. Under pressures of up to 9.8 GPa, four spectral anomalies indicative of the occurrence of phase transitions have been observed. The transitions under pressures of 1.7 and 4 GPa are shown to be reversible. The transition at 5.7 GPa is accompanied by partial sample amorphization.

Аннотация: The inverse magnetoelectric MEE-effect in the SmFe3(BO3)4 single-crystal sample in an applied electric field has been studied. The electric field E consists of two components: a constant one, e0, and a variable one, e × cos(ωt). The investigated compound evokes great interest due to the existence of both linear and quadratic contributions to the magnetoelectric effect. According to theoretical analysis, the effective susceptibility of the first harmonic of magnetic moment oscillations depends on the dc electric field component e0. Indeed, according to the measurement data, the dc field e0 significantly affects the MEE-effect first-harmonic amplitude: depending on the e0 sign, these oscillations can be either amplified or suppressed. This offers an opportunity for controlling the magnetic moment oscillation amplitude at the applied electric field frequency, including the signal modulation, which is promising for application. In the applied dc field e0, a slight change in the susceptibility of the MEE-effect term quadratic to the electric field was detected. The mathematical apparatus used correctly describes the qualitative dependence of the MEE-effect amplitude on the dc field e0, while the quantity appears to be approximately twofold overestimated.

Аннотация: Tunable coherent radiation is generated in the vacuum ultraviolet down to 121 nm using random quasi-phase matching in strontium tetraborate, the shortest wavelength ever produced with a second-order nonlinear optical process in a solid-state material. Relevant properties of this radiation, the nonlinear process, and the nonlinear crystal are investigated.

Аннотация: A new type of magnetic nanoparticles was revealed in borate glasses co-doped with low contents of iron and gadolinium. Structure and magnetic properties of the particles differ essentially from that of the α-Fe2O3, γ-Fe2O3, or Fe3O4 nanoparticles which were detected earlier in similar glass matrices. Transmission electron microscopy including STEM-HAADF and EDX, synchrotron radiation-based XRD, static magnetic measurements, magnetic circular dichroism, and electron magnetic resonance studies allow referring the nanoparticles to the iron oxide phase-ε-Fe2O3. Analysis of the data set has shown that it is Gd atoms that govern the process of nanoparticles' nucleation and its incorporation into the particles in different proportions can be used to adjust their magnetic and magneto-optical characteristics. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: Variable-valence TmxMn1–xS (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.15) compounds have been synthesized and their structural, electrical, and thermoelectrical properties have been studied in the temperature range of 80–1100 K. The regions of existence of solid solutions of sulfides TmxMn1–xS with the NaCl-type fcc lattice have been determined. It has been found that, as thulium ions are substituted for manganese cations, the electrical resistivity increases, and the lattice parameter increases more sharply than that corresponding to the Vegard’s law. The study of the temperature dependences of the thermopower coefficient has revealed that the current carrier sign is retained to 500 K for all the substitution concentrations, and the charge carrier type changes from the hole type to the electron type with variations in the temperature. The experimental data have been explained in terms of the exciton model.

Аннотация: NaSrLa1-x(WO4)3:Ho3+/Yb3+ ternary tungstates were synthesized via microwave sol-gel route. Well-crystallized particles with particle sizes of 2-5 ?m were obtained after heat-treatment at 900 °C for 16 h. Under the excitation at 980 nm, the particles showed yellow emissions based on the strong 545 and 655 nm emission bands. The preferable Yb3+:Ho3+ ratio was obtained to be 9:1. Raman spectra of the doped particles indicated the presence of strong Ho3+ luminescence lines. The pump power dependence and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage chromaticity of the upconversion emission intensity were evaluated. © 2016 Published by Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: The properties of NaxLi1–xFeGe2O6 (x = 0.1–0.9) solid solutions obtained via a solid-phase synthesis have been measured by X-ray diffraction, calorimetry, and magnetic method. The order–disorder transformations in low-dimensional NaxLi1–xFeGe2O6 (x = 0.1–0.9) spin systems with predominately antiferromagnetic exchange interaction have been revealed in the low-temperature susceptibility dependences. The study of thermal and physical properties has confirmed that substituting the sodium ions with the lithium ones induces the first-order structural phase transitions of the displacement type which are characterized by a symmetry change in monoclinic crystals from high-temperature C2/c space group to low-temperature P21/c space group. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: Random domain structures in orthorhombic strontium tetraborate (alpha-SBO) are capable in enhancing nonlinear optical conversion efficiency for large variety of processes throughout all transparency window of this material, down to 121 nm. Properties of the material, origin of domains, frequency doubling and autocorrelation measurements, conversion of supercontinuum to UV and continuously tunable VUV generation are described. Prospects of biphoton field generation in alpha-SBO are discussed.

Аннотация: The crystal lattice vibration frequencies, densities of phonon states, elastic moduli, and high-frequency permittivities have been calculated in terms of the density functional theory method for two polymorphs γ-BiB3O6 and δ-BiB3O6. Based on the calculated densities of phonon states, the temperature dependences of the free energies of two considered bismuth triborate modifications have been constructed, and the temperature of the phase transition between these modifications has been determined (1100 K). The structure of a possible nonpolar praphase of δ-BiB3O6 has been proposed. The polarization of δ-BiB3O6 has been estimated as 131 μC/cm2.

Аннотация: We consider second harmonic generation (SHG) of ultrashort pulses in the case of strong phase- and group-velocity mismatch. Spectral fringes appear in the second harmonic related to two delayed replicas of the fundamental pulse in the time domain. The fringe separation can be used to evaluate the group-velocity and refractive index of nonlinear crystals at extreme wavelengths. Experimental results with femtosecond pulses in SrB4O7 (SBO) are used to refine the Sellmeier equation describing the nc refractive index down to 160 nm, essential for the use of this unique nonlinear crystal for random quasi-phase-matching in the VUV.

Аннотация: The correlation of the electrical, magnetic, and structural properties of Bi2(Sn1 − xCrx)2O7 solid solutions has been investigated for two compositions with x = 0.05 and 0.1. The temperatures of structural phase transitions and anomalies of the electrical resistance in the vicinity of these transitions at temperatures in the range 300 K ˂ T ˂ 1000 K have been determined using differential scanning calorimetry. It has been found that the thermoelectric power changes sign upon the polymorphic transition. The paramagnetic Curie temperature and the chromium-ion spin have been found from the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the range 4 K ˂ T ˂ 1000 K and from the field dependence of the magnetic moment in magnetic fields of up to 6 T.

Аннотация: We study the nonlinear Raman–Nath diffraction (NRND) of femtosecond laser pulses in a 1D periodic nonlinear photonic structure. The calculated second-harmonic spectra represent frequency combs for different orders of transverse phase matching. These frequency combs are in close analogy with the well-known spectral Maker fringes observed in single crystals. The spectral intensity of the second harmonic experiences a redshift with a propagation angle, which is opposite the case of Čerenkov nonlinear diffraction. We analyze how NRND is affected by the group-velocity mismatch between fundamental and second-harmonic pulses and by the parameters of the structure. Our experimental results prove the theoretical predictions.

Аннотация: Reaction of cobalt chloride with 1-(1-silatranylmethyl)-1,2,4-triazole in benzene afforded complex CoCl2 center dot 2L (L = 1-(1-silatranylmethyl)-1,2,4-triazole). It was isolated as the solvate [CoCl2 center dot 2L]center dot CH2Cl2 (1) by recrystallization from dichloromethane and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/m with a = 6.798(2) E, b = 20.326(5) E, c = 11.005(3) E, and Z = 4. The cobalt atom is in slightly distorted square-planar environment, coordinated to two nitrogen atoms from two ligands and two chloride ions.
