Аннотация: A symmetry of holes is investigated in the multielectron band theory which takes into account strong correlations. It is shown that a small number of d(z2) states appears near the Fermi level due to d(z2) Cu-2p(x(y))O charge transfer as admixture to d(x2-y2)-p(x(y)) bands with dominant contribution of O2p states. The results are in a qualitative agreement with polarized photoemission data.

Аннотация: Phase transition (PT) was found in Cs3Bi2I9 single crystal at T0=223 K. Optical birefringence, dielectric and elastic constants and differential scanning calorimetry have been studied. It was found that birefringence ?nc and twinning picture appeared on (001) - and (100) - plates below T0, as well as softening of elastic stiffness C44 above T0. It allows to classify the PT as proper ferroelastic one with symmetry change 6/mmm - 2/m. В© 1996 OPA (Overseas Publishers Association) Amsterdam B.V. Аннотация: We study the effect of the structure on critical currents and current-voltage characteristics (CVC's) of foamed bismuth-based polycrystalline high-temperature superconductors (HTSC). The fractal cluster structure of superconducting foams has been observed and the fractal dimension of boundaries between superconducting and normal clusters has been determined. Based on the magnetic and transport properties of the foamed polycrystalline superconductors, we have shown that the initial parts of CVC's of the superconducting foams are described well by the model that accounts the magnetic flux trapping in fractal clusters of a normal phase. Аннотация: A new method of fabricating textured ceramics with a composition of Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox is described, according to which the initial low-density ceramics is subjected to uniaxial pressing in a liquid medium followed by drying and annealing. Analysis of the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy data show evidence for a high degree of texture in high-temperature superconductor ceramics fabricated using the proposed method. The results of magnetic measurements indicate that the obtained material possesses anisotropy of the magnetic moment for the magnetic field H oriented parallel and perpendicular to the direction of uniaxial pressing. The textured ceramics also show high diamagnetic response for H parallel to the c axis of grains, which makes these ceramics promising materials for practical applications.

Аннотация: The transport properties of a novel foamed superconductor Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox have been studied. As the analysis of resistive transitions in a magnetic field shows, the dissipation follows a thermally activated flux creep model with the temperature- independent pinning potential in S-N-S-type Josephson junctions.

Аннотация: The results of experimental study of magnetic properties in permalloy/bismuth/permalloy trilayer films synthesized for the first time are presented. Measurements of magnetic field and temperature dependences of magnetization have shown that the interlayer coupling depends on bismuth spacer thickness. The dependence of saturation magnetization of the system on semimetal thickness has been found. Possible mechanisms responsible for the observed features of behavior are discussed. Аннотация: Способ получения плотной текстурированной высокотемпературной сверхпроводящей керамики на основе висмута Pb0.3Bi1.8Sr1.9Ca2Cu3Ox, которая может быть использована в электротехнике и транспорте. Техническим результатом изобретения является получение плотного материала с высокой степенью текстуры простым и нетрудоемким способом. Пористую керамику плотностью от 1.8 г/см3 до 2.4 г/см3 пропитывают этиловым спиртом и подвергают одноосному сжатию давлением 400-500 МПа при комнатной температуре. Затем просушивают и отжигают при температуре 820-850°С в течение 30-100 часов. 5 ил.
Method of obtaining hard grain-oriented high-temperature superconductive ceramics on bismuth basis 1.9Ca2Cu3Ox, which can be used in electric engineering and transport industry. Porous ceramics with density of 1.8 g/cm3 to 2.4 g/cm3 is treated with ethyl alcohol and exposed to uniaxial compression with pressure of 400-500 MPa at indoor temperature. Аннотация: Orthorhombic bismuth triborate (delta-BiB3O6) Single crystals were grown via the top-seeded method at atmospheric pressure. delta-BiB3O6 is shown to be a stable polymorph at temperatures close to the melting point while alpha-BiB3O6 is a metastable one. Optical, acoustic and electromechanical properties of delta-BiB3O6 are measured. Possibility of doping delta-BiB3O6 with large amounts of rare earths is demonstrated. Аннотация: A different "Hubbard energy control" mechanism of the insulator-metal transition (IMT) in Mott-Hubbard insulators is discussed. This mechanism can be initiated by the lattice compression and it is driven by a spin crossover of 3d(5) ions from the high-spin state to the low-spin state. The spin crossover suppresses the effective Hubbard parameter U-eff down to the value enabling the insulator-metal transition according to the Mott mechanism U-eff/W approximate to 1. The classification of possible scenarios of metallization in the other 3d(n) metal compounds is also performed.

Аннотация: In order to clarify the mechanisms in charge of broadening of resistive transition R(T) in magnetic fields of bismuth-based polycrystalline high-T (C) superconductor (HTSC), a comparative study of Bi1.8Pb0.3Sr1.9Ca2Cu3O (x) (BSCCO) and YBa2Cu3O7-delta (YBCO) have been performed. Magnetoresistive effects and irreversibility line obtained from magnetic measurements have been studied. It was established that (1) for YBCO, the smooth part of R(T) dependence unambiguously corresponds to dissipation in the intergrain boundaries for arbitrary magnetic fields; (2) for polycrystalline BSCCO, the smooth part of R(T) dependences correspond to dissipation within intergrain boundary subsystem in the field range H <10(2) Oe only, while standard measurements of R(T) dependences in magnetic field range H > 10(2) Oe reflect the dissipation processes occurring both in intergrain boundary and HTSC grain subsystems; (3) for the high-field range, the contribution from intergrain boundaries of BSCCO can be distinguished from magnetoresistance R(H) dependences obtained at high enough current density on textured samples. It is proposed that various magneto-resistive properties of these classical HTSC systems are due comparatively weak pinning in BSCCO.

Аннотация: The influence of thermomagnetic prehistory on the behavior of a resistive transition R(T) in external magnetic fields of polycrystalline YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7) and Bi(1.8)Pb(0.3)Sr(1.9)Ca(2)Cu(3)O (x) high-temperature supercon-ductors and the Bi(1.8)Pb(0.3)Sr(1.9)Ca(2)Cu(3)O (x) + Ag texture has been investigated. It has been found that, for YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7), the thermomagnetic prehistory exerts a substantial influence on the dissipation in the subsystem of grain boundaries in magnetic fields up to similar to 10(3) Oe, and this effect becomes insignificant in fields higher than similar to 10(4) Oe. This behavior has been explained by the influence of magnetic moments of high-temperature superconductor grains on the effective magnetic field in the intergranular medium. For bismuth high-temperature superconductors, no influence of thermomagnetic prehistory on the resistive transition has been observed; however, this effect manifests itself in current-voltage characteristics at high transport current densities. There is also a radical difference in the behavior of isotherms of the magnetoresistance R(H) for the yttrium and bismuth systems. For YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7), there is a clear separation between the dissipation regimes in the intergranular medium and in grains, which manifests itself even at low transport current densities as a change of sign in the curvature of the dependence R(H). For a texture based on the bismuth high-temperature superconductor, this feature has been observed only at high current densities (comparable to the critical current density at H = 0). This difference in the behavior of magnetoresistive properties of the classical high-temperature superconductor systems under investigation has been explained by relatively low irreversibility fields of the bismuth high-temperature superconductors. In these materials, simultaneous processes of dissipation can occur in an external magnetic field both in the subsystem of grain boundaries between crystallites and in the crystallites themselves.

Аннотация: The refractive index dispersion of the γ-BiB3O6 crystal in the wavelength range 0.43–0.81 μm has been measured. It has been shown that the principal refractive indices n 1, n 2, and n 3 are on average higher than those of α-BiB3O6, but are slightly lower than those of δ-BiB3O6. The temperature dependences of the rotation angle φ(T) of the optical indicatrix and birefringence Δn 2(T) = (n 1 − n 3)(T) have been studied in the temperature range 100–963 K. It has been shown that the γ-BiB3O6 crystal is stable in this temperature region.

Аннотация: Absorption spectra of the Nd3+ ions in an orthorhombic δ-BiB3O6 single crystal were measured in the spectral range 11,000-20,500 cm-1. The f-f transition intensities were analyzed in terms of the Judd-Ofelt theory, and the following parameters of the theory were obtained: Ω2 = 6.35 × 10-20 cm2, Ω4 = 4.86 × 10-20 cm 2, and Ω6 = 11.233 × 10-20 cm 2. The strengths, spontaneous emission probabilities, branching ratios, spectroscopic quality factor and excited state radiative lifetime were calculated for laser transitions from the 4F3/2 state to 4IJ manifold. Spectroscopic properties of Nd 3+:δ-BiB3O6 crystal favor lasing at 1.3 μm, where this crystal possesses near non-critical phase matching for second harmonic generation. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Аннотация: The compound Bi24(CoBi)O40 has been synthesized using the solid-phase reaction method. The temperature and field dependences of the magnetic moment in the temperature range 4 K T 300 K and the temperature dependences of the EPR line width and g-factor at temperatures 80 K T 300 K have been investigated. The electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power have been measured in the temperature range 100 K T 1000 K. The activation energy has been determined and the crossover of the thermoelectric power from the phonon mechanism to the electron mechanism with variations in the temperature has been observed. The thermal expansion coefficient of the samples has been measured in the temperature range 300 K T 1000 K and the qualitative agreement with the temperature behavior of the electrical resistivity has been achieved. The electrical and structural properties of the compound have been explained in the framework of the model of the electronic-structure transition with inclusion of the exchange and Coulomb interactions between electrons and the electron-phonon interaction.

Аннотация: A bismuth(III) complex of N-methylthiourea (Mtu, C2H6N2S) [Bi(C2H6N2S)6](ClO4)3 has been synthesized, and its crystal structure has been determined. The structure is built of octahedral Bi(Mtu) 6 3+ cations and ClO 4 − anions. Sulfur atoms are coordinated to bismuth(III) (at axis 2) at octahedron vertices (Bi-S, 2.7670(8), 2.8142(8), and 2.8315(8) Å); angles SBiS vary from 82.26(3)° to 96.13(2)°. The presence of amino groups and oxygen atoms in the structure results in the emergence of numerous hydrogen bonds (HBs). All H atoms of amino groups are involved in HBs; one of them is bound to the sulfur atom. One of the oxygen atoms of ClO 4 − anions does not participate in HBs.
