Аннотация: Dielectric resonators are open systems whose eigenmodes couple to the radiation continuum resulting in nonzero radiation losses. For a long time, it was believed that only guided modes with frequencies below the light line were decoupled from the radiation continuum [1] . In the early 2000’s, several counterexamples of perfectly localized states – i.e. totally decoupled from the radiation continuum – at frequencies above the light line were proposed in dielectric gratings and photonic crystal waveguides [2] . Such states are known as bound states in the continuum (BIC).

Аннотация: The spatial and temporal dynamics of two short pulses propagating in an optically dense medium of resonant three-level Lambda-atoms is investigated numerically and analytically. The maximum coherence for the Raman transition due to coherent population trapping. it is shown that, at the initial stage of propagation, the waveforms of such pulses only slightly change along the length of the medium, which may considerably exceed the length of linear absorption for a single weak pulse. As the length of the absorbing medium increases, the energy of the probe (first) pulse is completely transferred into the second (control) pulse.

Аннотация: The quantum confinement effect (QCE) of linear junctions of silicon icosahedral quantum dots (IQD) and pentagonal nanowires (PNW) was studied using DFT and semiempirical AM1 methods. The formation of complex IQD/PNW structures leads to the localization of the HOMO and LUMO on different parts of the system and to a pronounced blue shift of the band gap; the typical QCE with a monotonic decrease of the band gap upon the system size breaks down. A simple one-electron one-dimensional Schrodinger equation model is proposed for the description and explanation of the unconventional quantum confinement behavior of silicon IQD/PNW systems. On the basis of the theoretical models, the experimentally discovered deviations from the typical QCE for nanocrystalline silicon are explained.

    Bandpass filter with an ultra wide stopband designed on miniaturized coaxial resonators / B. A. Belyaev [et al.] // J. Commun. Technol. Electron. - 2013. - Vol. 58, No. 2. - P. 110-117DOI 10.1134/S1064226913020022
Аннотация: Characteristics of a new miniaturized coaxial resonator are theoretically investigated. It is shown that the first resonant frequency of the resonator can be significantly lowered relative to the second one and the resonator dimensions can be considerably decreased as compared to those of a traditional dielectric filled quarter wavelength coaxial resonator. Based on the investigated resonator, a fourth order bandpass filter has been designed and fabricated. The filter stopband at a level of no worse than –90 dB extends to the frequency that exceeds the passband center frequency by a factor of 47. Calculated frequency responses are in good agreement with those measured on the fabricated filter prototypes.

Аннотация: Spinterface between fullerene C60 and La0 7Sr0 3MnO3 (LSMO) was studied by means of density functional theory. Co-existence of many different configurations was shown, and probabilities of their appearance were estimated. Dependence of composite properties on configuration and temperature was also investigated. Key role of transition metal atoms in both binding between composite compartments and magnetic ordering in C60 molecule was discussed. The latter was suggested to be responsible for spin-polarized charge transport while overall magnetic moment of fullerene molecule is relatively small. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.

Аннотация: The Nd1Bi2Fe5O12/Nd2Bi1Fe4Ga1O12 polycrystalline films on the glass substrate and the Nd0.5Bi2.5Fe5O12 epitaxial films on the single-crystal gadolinium gallium garnet substrate have been investigated by impedance and dielectric spectroscopy. The inductive contribution to the impedance and two relaxation channels related to ferroelectric domains and migration polarization have been established. The magnetocapacitance and magnetoimpedance have been determined. The conductive and polarization currents and the phase difference between them for the films of two types have been determined. The critical temperatures of the polarization disappearance and hysteresis I–V have been found. A model of the polarization caused by the piezoelectric effect and flexoelectric interaction has been proposed. I–V hysteresis is explained by the presence of ferroelectric domains near the interface and is associated with the hysteresis of the electric polarization.

Аннотация: We investigated the low-frequency dielectric properties of a Pb3Mn7O15 single crystal with manganese ions in the mixed-valence state (Mn3+/Mn4+). Dielectric relaxation was found in the frequency window from 20 to 100 kHz in the temperature range 110-180 K. The dielectric spectra of the crystal were analyzed using a Debye model. Estimations made within the model and analysis of resistivity data suggest that the relaxation behavior of the dielectric constant is related to polaronic charge carrier hopping. Around 250 K, charge ordering occurs in the crystal when the Mn3+ and Mn4+ ions are arranged in a specific order among the crystal sites. With a decrease in temperature, an ac electric field can induce a charge hop between the equivalent lattice sites available, related to crystal symmetry. This hopping is equivalent to the reorientation of an electric dipole that yields Debye-type behavior of the complex dielectric constant. The observed anisotropy in the behavior of the dielectric properties and resistivity can be attributed to a pronounced two-dimensional character of the crystal structure.

Аннотация: The properties of the normal and superconducting phases of p- and n-type cuprates are investigated in the appropriate low-energy models in the approximation beyond Hubbard I considering spin fluctuations. Calculated chemical potential dependence on doping, Fermi surface and T,(x) phase diagram for n-type cuprates are in remarkably good agreement with the experimental ones. Comparison of the singlet-triplet t-J model with simple t-J model shows that the spin-exciton mechanism originated from singlet-triplet hybridization leads to small contribution to the T-c(x) - optimal doping value becomes slightly lower and the maximum value of T-c become slightly higher.

Аннотация: We studied the transmission spectrum of a one-dimensional photonic crystal containing a defect layer in which electromagnetically induced transparency is possible. The analysis is performed taking into account the spatial inhomogeneity of interacting fields in the photonic crystal. It is found that the transmission spectrum of such a photonic crystal depends on the spatial overlap of defect modes excited by probe and control radiations. It is shown that electromagnetically induced transparency can result in a considerable narrowing of the defect mode spectrum. В© 2009 Kvantovaya Elektronika and Turpion Ltd.

Effect of the electrical inhomogeneity on the magnetocapacitance sign change in the HoxMn1−xS semiconductors upon temperature and frequency variation / S. S. Aplesnin, M. N. Sitnikov, A. M. Kharkov, H. Abdelbaki // J. Mater. Sci.: Mater. Аннотация: The dielectric properties of the HoxMn1−xS (x ≤ 0.1) semiconductors in the frequency range of 100 ˂ ω ˂ 106 Hz at temperatures of 80−550 K have been studied. The temperature crossover from the Debye behavior of the permittivity to the resonance behavior has been found at low holmium concentrations in the compounds. The frequency of the crossover from the migration to dipole orientation polarization with the minimum dielectric loss has been determined. The positive and negative magnetocapacitances for two concentrations of holmium ions have been found. The temperature and frequency ranges of the magnetocapacitance sign change have been established and this phenomenon has been explained using the model of the transition from electrically inhomogeneous to homogeneous states.

Аннотация: The exchange bias (EB) effect, which is the shift of the hysteresis loop of a ferromagnet in direct contact with an antiferromagnet, is highly advantageous for the development of spintronics applications. Carbon (C) has been considered as a potential material in next generation electronics production as well as spintronics devices beyond silicon. Here we show experimental evidence for an EB in C/Co composites. The significant EB needs thermal annealing to occur. X-ray absorption spectra and transmission electron microscopy data of these samples reveal that Co carbides in as grown samples decompose and form graphitic C/Co interfaces after annealing. Using x-ray magnetic circular dichroism we have detected the C spins that are responsible for the EB. These results inspire a theoretical model to investigate the magnetic interactions in graphitic C/Co interfaces and interpret the observed results. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd

Аннотация: An approach to generating the entangled photonic states |?1,?2?В±|?2, ?1? from two arbitrary states |?1? and |?2? is proposed. The protocol is implemented by the conditionally induced beam-splitter coupling, which leads to the selective swapping between two photonic modes. Such coupling occurs in a quantum system prepared in the superposition of two ground states with only one of them being involved in the swapping. All the entangled states in the category, such as entangled pairs of coherent states or Fock states (NOON states), can be efficiently produced in the same way by this method. Аннотация: The relationship is established between quantum phase transitions and complex geometric phases for open quantum systems governed by a non-Hermitian effective Hamiltonian with accidental crossing of the eigenvalues. In particular, the geometric phase associated with the ground state of the one-dimensional dissipative Ising model in a transverse magnetic field is evaluated, and it is demonstrated that the related quantum phase transition is of the first order.

Аннотация: The (MgB2)1-xCox composite tapes fabricated by the ex situ PIT method were investigated. The structural and magnetic properties were characterized. Only MgB2 and Co phases were observed in the composites while x B 0.2. A superconducting transition temperature was stable for these samples. Enhancement of the critical current density is found for x = 0.1.
