Аннотация:
We demonstrate the possibility of using transparent conducting oxides [aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO), gallium-doped zinc oxide (GZO), indium tin oxide (ITO)] to form Tamm plasmon polaritons in the near-infrared spectral range where the permittivity of oxides is near zero. The spectral properties of the structures are investigated in the framework of the temporal coupled-mode theory and confirmed by the transfer
matrix
method. It is found that in the critical coupling conditions, the maximal Q-factor of a Tamm plasmon polariton is achieved when a photonic crystal is conjugated with the AZO film, while at the conjugation with the ITO films, the broadest spectral line is obtained. The sensitivity of the wavelength and spectral width of the Tamm plasmon polariton to changes in the oxide film thickness, bulk concentration of a dopant, and angle of incidence is demonstrated.

Аннотация:
The exchange interactions in the Cr3+–Cr3+ ion pairs in the isostructural ABO3 (A = Ga, In, Sc) diamagnetic compounds have been examined using the magnetic resonance technique. The values of bilinear and biquadratic exchange interactions have been determined. It is shown that the biquadratic exchange in the Cr3+–Cr3+ pair in these compounds is caused by the exchange striction.

Аннотация:
The paper examines the characteristics of the miniature sensor of weak magnetic fields on the resonant microstrip structure with a thin ferromagnetic film. The authors calculated the frequency response of irregular microstrip resonator containing anisotropic magnetic film in quasi-static approximation. The resonator is connected to transmission lines via coupling capacities. The authors determined the optimal directional angles of the constant magnetic displacement field ensuring maximum sensitivity of the sensor. They examined the impact of angular and amplitude dispersion of uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of thin film upon the sensor characteristics. The regularities determined in this research qualitatively agree with the experimental results.

. Samples are synthesized by impregnating SiO2 hydrogel with iron (II) salts with subsequent drying and calcination. Nowadays polymer
matrix
-based composite material with various carbon fillers are widely used to protect radioequipment from different interference, to improve characteristics of radar absorbing coatings. Current synthesis processes are sophisticated and rather costly. The challenge is to develop new methods of producing composite materials by efficient knowledge intensive technologies to reduce the cost of products. The paper studies possibility of producing composite material on the basis of elastic polyurethane foam with carbon fillers using polyurethane impregnation in nonequilibrium black carbon suspension. Suspension composition: running water and carbon-bearing powders of nanometer range: fullerene black carbon, Taunite (multi-layer carbon nano tube material), technical carbon T900, wood soot. Nonequilibrium suspension was produced by treatment in hydrodynamic generator of rotor type (cavitation mode). Angular rotation speed of the rotor ω = 10000 rpm.

Splitting of a Tamm plasmon polariton at the interface between a metal and a nanocomposite layer conjugated with a photonic crystal (Bragg mirror) has been theoretically investigated. The splitting can be implemented when the Tamm plasmon polariton frequency approaches the resonance frequency of the nanocomposite, which consists of metallic nanoballs dispersed in a transparent
matrix
. The reflectance spectrum of the p-polarized waves at the normal incidence of light has been calculated. It has been established that the Tamm plasmon polariton splitting significantly depends on the concentration of nanoballs in the nanocomposite layer and its thickness. The solution of the dispersion equation derived for a sample with semi-infinite mirrors has been compared with the spectra obtained for a finite structure by the transfer
matrix
method.

Polymer-based dielectric capacitors play a notable part in the practical application of energy storage devices. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets can improve the dielectric properties of polymer-based composites. However, the breakdown strength will greatly reduce with the increase of GO content. Hence, the construction of sandwich structure can enhance the breakdown strength without reducing the dielectric constant. Herein, single-layered and sandwich-structured poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-CTFE)) nanocomposites with low content of GO nanosheets (<1.0 wt%) are prepared via employing a straightforward casting method. Compared with the single-layered composites and pure P(VDF-CTFE), the sandwich-structured composites exhibit comprehensively better performance compared. The sandwich-structured composite with 0.4 wt% GO nanosheets show an excellent dielectric constant of 13.6 (at 1 kHz) and an outstanding discharged energy density of 8.25 J cm−3 at 3400 kV cm−1. These results demonstrate that the growth of the dielectric properties is owing to 2D GO nanosheets and the enhancement of breakdown strength due to the sandwich structure. The results from finite element simulation provide theoretical support for the design of high energy density composites.

Аннотация:
This work is focused on the fabrication and characterization of a new type of composite invar materials combining near-zero thermal expansion and functional properties that are important for applications. This is accomplished through the use of particles of SmB6, an intermediate valence system with negative thermal expansion, embedded in Al
matrix
. The composite based on SmB6-21 vol% was fabricated by hot pressing and was characterized by XRD, optical/electron microscopy, X-ray computed tomography and capacitive dilatometry. The study of thermal expansion revealed that the sample exhibits invar behaviour up to ~60 K with a zero value of the coefficient of thermal expansion near 45 K. In comparison to pure aluminum, the temperature range has increased by about 20 K. A quantitative analysis of dilatometric experimental data performed on the basis of widely used theoretical models showed that the thermal expansion of the Al/SmB6 composite was well reproduced within the Turner model.

Аннотация:
A study of heat capacity, thermal dilatation, susceptibility to hydrostatic pressure, permittivity and polarization loops was carried out on NH4HSO4–porous glass nanocomposites (AHS + PG) as well as empty glass matrices. The formation of dendrite clusters of AHS with a size, dcryst, exceeding the pore size was found. An insignificant anisotropy of thermal expansion of AHS + PG showing statistically uniform distribution of AHS with random orientations of nanocrystallites over the
matrix
was observed. The effect of internal and external pressures on thermal properties and permittivity was studied. At the phase transition P-1 ↔ Pc, a strongly nonlinear decrease in the entropy ΔS2 and volume strain (ΔV/V)T2 was observed with decreasing dcryst. The linear change in temperatures of both phase transitions P-1 ↔ Pc ↔ P21/c under hydrostatic pressure is accompanied by the expansion of the temperature range of existence of the ferroelectric phase Pc, while this interval narrows as dcryst decreases.

An exact solution for a model describing the equilibrium behavior of an ensemble of Ising chains with nonmagnetic intersite repulsion of nearest neighbors and an equilibrium distribution of nonmagnetic impurities is obtained using the transfer
matrix
technique. The possibility of exciting quantum phase transitions using the intersite repulsion parameter in a system is demonstrated. Proximity to the critical points of these transitions has a substantial effect on the temperature dependence of a system’s magnetic susceptibility. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.

Аннотация:
We study statistical properties of the 0+ spectrum of 208Pb in the energy region Ex ≤ 20 MeV. We use the Skyrme interaction SLy4 as our model Hamiltonian to create a single-particle spectrum and to analyze excited states. The finite-rank separable approximation for the particle–hole interaction enables us to perform the calculations in large configuration spaces. We show that while the position of the monopole resonance centroid is determined by one-phonon excitations of 0+, the phonon–phonon coupling is crucial for the description of the strength distribution of the 0+ spectrum. In fact, this coupling has an impact on the spectral rigidity Δ3(L) which is shifted towards the random
matrix
limit of the Gaussian orthogonal ensembles.

Аннотация:
The article investigates the phase composition of (Al2O3 – 20 wt % ZrO2)–ZrW2O8 ceramic composites obtained by cold-pressing and sintering processes. Using X-ray analysis it has been shown that composites mainly have monoclinic modification of zirconium dioxide and orthorhombic phase of aluminum oxide. After adding zirconium tungstate the phase composition of sintered ceramics changes, followed by the formation of tungsten-aluminates spinel such as Alx(WOy)z. It has been shown that thermal expansion coefficient of material decreases approximatly by 30%, as compared with initial ceramics.

The model of a polarization-preserving anisotropic mirror is proposed. The mirror is a plane boundary of a metal–dielectric nanocomposite that consists of silver spheroidal nanoparticles dispersed in a transparent

Аннотация:
Using data on the structure of plant leaves, specific features of light propagation in biophotoniccrystal structures have been established by the transfer
matrix
method. Splitting of the stopband in two bands has been found. The density of photonic states and the electromagnetic field value have been calculated. The occurrence of two photosystems (splitting of the stopband in two bands), the peculiarity of the long-wavelength quantum yield and its enhancement (Emerson effect), and water dissociation in the soft mode due to an increase in the electromagnetic field on the layers are explained.

Аннотация:
The frequency and concentration dependences of the effective complex permittivity of a composite consisting of silver nanoparticles in a polystyrene dielectric
matrix
have been investigated. It has been found that, with an increase in the volume concentration of particles in the composite to ~33%, the real part of its permittivity increases from 2.6 to ~103, while the loss tangent remains no higher than 10–2 up to a frequency of 1 THz. We show the possibility of designing bandpass filters based on composite layered structures, which can be tuned by selecting the particle concentration in the quarter-wavelength layers of the mirrors that ensure the optimal interaction of half-wavelength resonators with each other and the outer resonators with free space. The high contrast between the
matrix
and the composite permittivities makes it possible to create mirrors with a required reflectivity using a minimum number of layers.
