Аннотация: Inhomogeneities were observed for the first time in the magnetic structure of a thin Permalloy film, induced by a strongly nonuniform magnetic field applied in the plane of the substrate during fabrication of the samples. The films were obtained by vacuum deposition using a molecular-beam epitaxy system. A nonuniform field was created on the substrate using four samarium-cobalt magnets. The anisotropy of local sections of the samples was measured using a scanning-ferromagnetic-resonance spectrometer. A strong correlation was observed between the distribution of the magnitude and direction of the local magnetic anisotropy of the film and the magnetic-field distribution in the plane of the substrate. Аннотация: For a two-dimensional Hubbard model with spin-orbit Rashba coupling in external magnetic field the structure of effective spin interactions is studied in the regime of strong electron correlations and at half-filling. It is shown that in the third order of perturbation theory, the scalar and vector chiral spin-spin interactions of the same order arise. The emergence of the latter is due to orbital effects of magnetic field. It is shown that for nonuniform fields, scalar chiral interaction can lead to stabilization of axially symmetric skyrmion states with arbitrary topological charges. Taking into account the hierarchy of effective spin interactions, an analytical theory on the optimal sizes of such states, the higher-order magnetic skyrmions, is developed for axially symmetric magnetic fields of the form h(r) ∼ rβ with ∊R.

Аннотация: Within the framework of the assumption of large azimuthal wave numbers, the equations for Alfven and slow magnetosonic waves are obtained using frozen-in material coordinates. These equations are specified for the case of a nonuniform magnetic field with axial symmetry. Assuming a meridional polarization of the magnetic field and velocity perturbations, the effects of Alfven wave propagation are analyzed which are related to geometric characteristics of a nonuniform magnetic field: (a) A finite curvature radius of the magnetic field lines and (b) convergence of magnetic field lines. The interaction between the Alfven and magnetosonic waves is found to be strongly dependent on the curvature radius of the magnetic tube and the local plasma beta parameter. The electric field amplitude and the length scale of a wave front are found to increase very strongly in the course of the Alfven wave propagation along a converging magnetic flux tube. Also studied is a temporal decrease of the wave perturbations which is caused by dissipation at the conducting boundary. (C) 2005 American Institute of Physics.

Аннотация: A method is proposed for electrostatic functionalization of substrates used to prepare ordered structures composed of closely spaced plasmon-resonant nanoparticles. The method ensures selective deposition of nanoparticles from the bulk of a colloidal system onto the substrates. This method is based on placing a metal nanotemplate of a required configuration at the opposite side of a substrate, with an electric potential being applied to the template. A mathematical model is developed to ensure that the system parameters responsible for the deposition of metal nanoparticles into ordered single-domain structures on the substrate from a bulk sol in a nonuniform electric field generated by the nanotemplate correspond to the real experimental conditions. Since the degree of imperfection of the synthesized chains governs the applicability of these structures to transmission of the optical excitation at the frequency of the surface plasmon of the particles, the dependence of the degree of imperfection on the physicochemical and electrical parameters of the system is studied using the Brownian-dynamics model. The calculations of the spectral and transmission properties of nanowaveguides of this type are exemplified. В© 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
