Аннотация: Выполнены исследования теплоемкости Cp(T) и коэффициента теплового расширения alpha(T) керамики NaNbO3 в области температур 2-800 K. Помимо аномалий, связанных с известными фазовыми переходами при T6~265 K, T5~638 K, T4~760 K и T3~793 K, обнаружены особенносaти поведения Cp(T) и alpha(T) вблизи T5''~500 K и T5'~600 K. Установлено, что все наблюдавшиеся структурные превращения в соответствии с величинами изменения энтропии не связаны с процессами упорядочения структурных элементов. Показано, что с ростом температуры объем ячейки при фазовых переходах вблизи 265, 515, 604 и 638 K убывает. Исследованы особенности перехода в фазу R3c . Проведен анализ двух возможных сценариев реализации последовательности фазовых превращений в интервале между T5 и T6.

Аннотация: The temperature dependences of the heat capacity C p (T) and thermal expansion coefficient α(T) of NaNbO3 ceramic samples have been investigated in the temperature range from 2 to 800 K. In addition to the anomalies associated with the known phase transitions at temperatures T 6 ≈ 265 K, T 5 ≈ 638 K, T 4 ≈ 760 K, and T 3 ≈ 793 K, anomalies in the behavior of C p (T) and α(T) have been observed near T 5″ ≈ 500 K and T 5′ ≈ 600 K. It has been found that all the observed structural transformations, according to the values of the entropy change, are not related to the ordering of structural elements. It has been shown that, with an increase in the temperature, the unit cell volume during the phase transitions near 265, 515, 604, and 638 K decreases. The specific features of the transition to the phase R3c have been examined. Two possible scenarios of the sequence of phase transformations in the temperature range between T 5 and T 6 have been analyzed.

Аннотация: High-temperature G0 polymorph of Rb2KMoO3F3 has been prepared by melt solidification. Micromorphology and chemical properties of the final product were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The elpasolite-related crystal structure of G0-Rb2KMoO3F3 has been refined by Rietveld method at T = 298 K (space group Fm-3m, a = 8.92446(8) Å, V = 710.76(1) Å3; RB = 3.55%). Ferroelectric G1-Rb2KMoO3F3 polymorph, earlier reported at T˂328 K, is not found at T = 298 K.

Аннотация: A new type of nanoparticle-containing glasses based on borate glasses co-doped with low contents of iron and larger radius elements, Dy, Tb, Gd, Ho, Er, Y, and Bi, is studied. Heat treatment of these glasses results in formation of magnetic nanoparticles, radically changing their physical properties. Transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron radiation-based techniques: x-ray diffraction, extended x-ray absorption fine structure, x-ray absorption near-edge structure, and small-angle x-ray scattering, show a broad distribution of nanoparticle sizes with characteristics depending on the treatment regime; a crystalline structure of these nanoparticles is detected in heat treated samples. Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) studies of samples subjected to heat treatment as well as of maghemite, magnetite, and iron garnet allow to unambiguously assign the nanoparticle structure to maghemite, independently of co-dopant nature and of heat treatment regime used. Different features observed in the MCD spectra are related to different electron transitions in Fe3+ ions gathered in the nanoparticles. The static magnetization in heat treated samples has non-linear dependence on the magnetizing field with hysteresis. Zero-field cooled magnetization curves show that at higher temperatures the nanoparticles occur in superparamagnetic state with blocking temperatures above 100 K. Below ca. 20 K, a considerable contribution to both zero field-cooled and field-cooled magnetizations occurs from diluted paramagnetic ions. Variable-temperature electron magnetic resonance (EMR) studies unambiguously show that in as-prepared glasses paramagnetic ions are in diluted state and confirm the formation of magnetic nanoparticles already at earlier stages of heat treatment. Computer simulations of the EMR spectra corroborate the broad distribution of nanoparticle sizes found by "direct" techniques as well as superparamagnetic nanoparticle behaviour demonstrated in the magnetization studies. Аномалий в тепловом расширении, которые могли бы быть связаны с предполагавшимся другими исследователями фазовым переходом при 726-732 K, обнаружено не было. Исследовано влияние на тепловое расширение термической обработки образца в атмосфере гелия и на воздухе. Аннотация: The thermal expansion of the CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics has been measured over a wide temperature range 120–1200 K. The high quality of the samples under study has been confirmed by good agreement of the results of measurements of the heat capacity in the range 2–300 K and in the vicinity of the phase transition of magnetic nature at 25 K with the data for the single crystal. No anomalies in the thermal expansion that can be associated with the phase transition at 726–732 K assumed by other investigators have been found. The influence exerted on the thermal expansion by the heat treatment of the sample in a helium atmosphere and in air has been investigated.

Аннотация: Dielectric, X-ray, Mossbauer and magnetization studies of (1 − x)PbFe0.5Ta0.5O3–(x)PbTiO3 ceramics with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.3 have been carried out to determine the compositional evolution of ferroelectric and magnetic phase transition temperatures. Addition of PbTiO3 to PbFe0.5Ta0.5O3 increases the temperature T m of the dielectric permittivity maximum, decreases both the diffusion of this maximum and its frequency dependence. However, the Curie–Weiss temperature exceeds T m for all the compositions studied, indicating that the phase transition still remains diffused. Dilution of the (Fe, Ta)-sublattice by Ti lowers the Neel temperature T N but above a certain compositional threshold (x ≈ 0.1) fast lowering of T N stops and a new magnetic state stable in a rather wide compositional range appears. Large difference between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and FC magnetization–temperature curves as well as between the temperatures of magnetic phase transition determined from Mossbauer and magnetization studies for compositions with x 0.1 implies that this state is a spin-glass phase.

Аннотация: The Eu3+-doped red-orange emitting phosphor of tellurite glass 0.25Li2O–0.20Y2O3–0.5TeO2–0.05Eu2O3 has been synthesized by the melt quenching method. The amorphous nature of the glass has been verified by XRD measurements. The photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, the luminescence decay curves have been investigated for the composition. The phosphor can be efficiently excited by the near UV light to realize the intense narrow red emission line (611 nm) corresponding to forced electric dipole transition 5D0 → 7F2 of Eu3+ ions. The Li2O–Y2O3–TeO2:Eu3+glass phosphor is a potential red-orange emitting candidate for the application in WLEDs.

Аннотация: The pulse - phase method for examination of ultrasonic waves propagation in materials, including mediums with high attenuation of a sound was designed. By automation methods of measurings the opportunity of determination the elastic waves velocities with an frequency range 100 kHz - 30 MHz with the resolution on frequency of 10-6 Hz is implemented. The phase method and a method of the frequency strobing for recording impulses are realized. These methods allow to define with precision not worse than 10-9 second the time of ultrasonic waves propagation. Requirements to the minimum linear dimensions of samples are restricted by the method sensitivity only. Velocities of elastic waves and their signal attenuation in ceramic and composites are measured. В© 2007 IEEE.

Аннотация: The magnetization behavior under temperature and magnetic field variation was investigated for La0.7Pb0.3MnO3 ceramics and ferromagnetic-ferroelectric 0.85(La0.7Pb0.3MnO3)-0.15(PbTiO3) composite. The second-order ferromagnetic phase transition in manganite is shifted to the tricritical point in composite material. Comparison of the intensive caloric effect and the difference between relative cooling powers (RCP) in both materials proves a significant role of intrinsic pressure in elevating caloric efficiency in composite induced by elastic coupling between the grains of LPM and PT components. No temperature change in composite under an electric field of 2 kV/cm associated with electrocaloric effect or indirect magnetoelectric coupling was observed. The effect of magnetic field on some peculiar temperatures is considered. A contribution from pressure generated by magnetic field to baric coefficient dT/dp of ferromagnetic transformation temperature in composite was suggested. The results obtained were analyzed in the framework of the magnetic equation of state and compared with the experimentally measured heat capacity.

Possible ways to increase the caloric efficiency of materials have been analyzed.
