Аннотация: A new chemical compound, (NH4) 2KWO3 F-3, was synthesized. The Rietveld-refined crystal structure was found to be cubic at room temperature and to belong to the elpasolite family (space group). The heat capacity and unit cell parameters were studied within a broad temperature range. A second-order phase transition was found to occur at 235.4 K and to be well described in terms of phenomenological theory. Hydro-static pressure broadens the temperature interval of stability of the cubic phase (dT(0)/dp = -10.8K GPa(-1)). A possible model of structural ordering based on a comparison of the entropy parameters and electron density distribution in oxygen and fluorine atoms is discussed.

Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of perovskite-like (NH4)(3)WO3F3 oxyfluoride are studied in the 70-3600 cm(-1) frequency range and the 93-323 K temperature range including the transition point from orientationally disordered cubic phase into the lower symmetry one. Internal vibrations of ammonium ions and WO3F3 octahedra have been found to exhibit transition anomalies. Analysis of measurements suggests that the transition under study is due mainly to the ordering of octahedra.

Аннотация: This paper presents the results of a nonempirical calculation of the static and dynamic properties of K2NaAlF6, K3AlF6, and Na3AlF6 crystals with the elpasolite structure. The calculation is based on a microscopic model of an ionic crystal that allows for the deformability and polarizability of the ions. The deformability parameters of the ions are determined by minimizing the total energy of the crystal. The total energy is regarded as a functional of the electron density, using the local Thomas-Fermi approximation and taking into account exchange (correlation) effects. The results of the calculations of the equilibrium lattice parameters and of the permittivities are in good agreement with the experimental data. Unstable vibrational modes are found in the spectrum of the lattice vibrations, with these modes occupying the phase space in the entire Brillouin zone. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics. Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of Rb2KHoF6 and Rb2KDyF6 crystals have been studied in temperature range from 20 K to 399 K and from 7 K to 500 K respectively. Raman spectra of Rb2KHoF6 crystal are distorted due to the fluorescence process. Parameters of Raman lines have been quantitatively analyzed. The investigation points to the considerable role of CX6 groups in the temperature phase transition in Rb2KHoF6 and Rb2KDyF6 crystals. The anomalies of spectra changes with temperature testify the first order phase transitions in these crystals. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Аннотация: Elpasolite, one of the rare fluorine minerals, was first found in the “Pikes Peak region”, El Paso County, Colorado, USA (1885). It can be found also in Italy, Greenland, Ukraine and Russia. Single crystal samples of Rb2KB (2)F6 (B (2) = In, Sc, Tb, Ho, Dy) and Rb2NaYF6 were synthesized in laboratory of Crystal Physics, Kirensky Institute of Physics, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. These crystals belong to the perovskite-like crystals with the elpasolite structure A2B(1)B(2)X6 (A and B are metal or rare-earth metal cations, or more complex molecular ions and X are oxygen or halogen anions, high symmetry phase space group Fm3m, Z = 4), which are extensively studied due to their wide variety of distorted structures and exciting complex sequences of phase transitions [1]. The aim of this work is to study structural phase transitions and lattice dynamics (LD) of perovskite-like crystals in the wide pressure range by Raman spectroscopy and semi-empirical LD simulation. Raman spectra were collected using the polarized radiation of a 514.5nm Ar+laser (Spectra-Physics Stabilite 2017) power 15mW on the sample in the wavenumber region between 10 and 1200 cm–1 . The spectra in the 180° geometry were recorded on a Horiba Jobin Yvon T64000 spectrometer. High-pressure experiments were performed in a diamond anvil cell EasyLab μscope DAC–HT(G). To perform LD simulation of investigated compounds the program package LADY was used. So called “hybrid model” [2] was used. This model is a combination of valence force field (VFF) and “rigid-ion” models (RIM). In the pressure range of 0.9 – 1.0 GPa additional lines become visible in the Raman spectra of Rb2KInF6 and Rb2KScF6 crystals. Lattice instability induced by soft phonon mode condensation found at 0.9 GPa for Rb2KInF6 and at 1.0 GPa for Rb2KScF6, that soft mode is associated with displacements of four fluorine atoms from B (2)F6 octahedrons only and corresponds to the rotation of the octahedron as a whole around four-hold axis. Experimental Raman spectra of Rb2NaYF6 is typical for the high symmetry cubic phase of elpasolites under pressure up to 4.33 GPa, numerical simulation shows the absence of phase transition up to 10GPa.

Аннотация: The heat capacity and the effect of hydrostatic pressure on structural phase transitions in ammonium hexafluoroaluminate, (NH4)(3)AlF6, have been studied. Two heat capacity anomalies have been found with maxima at T-1 = 218.5 +/- 0.5 K and T-2 = 179 +/- 2 K. Respective entropy changes of phase transitions are DeltaS(1) = 15.3 +/- 0.5 J mol(-1) K-1 and DeltaS(2) = 2.5 +/- 0.5 J mol(-1) K-1. It is shown that the p-T phase diagram of this compound is rather complex and contains a triple point (p(tp) = 0.12 GPa, T-tp = 221 K) and high-pressure phase. The mechanism of transformations and generalized p-T phase diagram for compounds of the (NH4)(3)(MF6)-F-III family are discussed within the framework of the rotational order-disorder model.

Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of elpasolite Rb2KScF6 are studied in a wide temperature range including two phase transitions: from the cubic to the tetragonal phase and then to the monoclinic phase. The experimental Raman scattering spectrum is compared with the lattice vibration spectra of these phases calculated using an ab initio approach. A number of anomalies (caused by structural rearrangement during the phase transitions) are revealed and quantitatively analyzed in the ranges of both the intramolecular vibrations of the octahedron molecular ScF6 ions and low-frequency intermolecular lattice vibrations. The interaction between low-frequency intramolecular vibrations and the intermolecular modes is found to be significant, and strong resonance interaction of the rotational soft modes (which are recovered below the phase transition points) with hard low-frequency vibrations of the rubidium ion sublattice is detected. These interactions are shown to substantially complicate the spectra. (C) 2004 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The heat capacity of (NH4)(2)KGaF6 elpasolite is measured in the temperature range from 80 to 350 K. A sequence of three phase transitions at T-1 = 288.5 K, T-2 = 250 K, and T-3 = 244.5 K is revealed, and the thermodynamic characteristics of these transitions are determined. The influence of hydrostatic pressure on the phase transition temperature is investigated. Аннотация: Calorimetric measurements performed in a wide temperature range on (NH4)(3)VO2F4 have shown the presence of four heat capacity anomalies at T-1 = 438 K, T-2 = 244 K, T-3 = 210.2 K, T-4 = 205.1 K associated with the first order phase transitions. In accordance with the permittivity behavior, the structural transformations are of nonferroelectric nature. Pressure dependence of the phase transition temperatures has been studied by DTA under pressure. The entropy of phase transitions is analyzed mainly in the framework of the orientational disordering of NH4+ and VO2F43- ions in a cubic phase. (C) 2008 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
