Multilayer magnetic films -- Exchange interaction -- Exchange bias -- Ellipsometry -- SQUID magnetometry
Аннотация: The interlayer interactions in multilayer systems with a non-magnetic semimetallic interlayer are great of interest. The magnetic and structural properties of the DyxCo1-x/Bi/Py systems (17 ˂ x ˂ 26 at.%) have been studied. The temperature dependences of magnetization in the range 4.2–300 K were measured for the first time. The influence of the bismuth interlayer thickness on the exchange interaction between the DyCo and Py layers was found as well as the critical value of its thickness. The obtained atypical value of the period of exchange bias oscillations was explained by the formation of bismuth compounds with dysprosium–pnictogenides at bismuth thicknesses below the critical value. The interface was investigated by spectral ellipsometry in the range 2–5 eV. The information on the structure of the surface obtained by atomic force microscopy was used to create a multilayer model for fitting experimental ellipsometric data. Analysis of the optical properties showed that pnictogenide Dy3Bi2 is formed at the interface, which affects the general magnetic state of the samples studied.

Mn–Mn magnetic coupling interaction-induced red emission in a tetra-coordinated lattice / W. Wang, Y. Wei, L. Qiu [et al.] // Chem. Аннотация: Strong magnetic coupling interactions originating from a short Mn–Mn distance in some heavy Mn2+-doped matrices have important effects on luminescence of single Mn2+ ions and close-knit Mn2+–Mn2+ pairs. However, the intrinsic mechanism of controlling spectral regulation remains elusive since the underlying relationship among Mn–Mn distances, magnetic coupling interactions, and optical properties is unclear. Herein, we create an unusual red emission (620 nm) of Mn2+ in a typical tetra-coordinated lattice of Li2CdGeO4 by simply enhancing the Mn2+-doped level in addition to regular green emission (528 nm). Although the dual emission peaks occupy the same tetra-coordinated crystallographic lattice of CdO4, different temperature-dependent emission behaviors are observed, which expands a possibility in optical thermometry sensors. Detailed Mn–Mn distances are calculated via Rietveld refinement analysis, and their effects on the Mn–Mn coupling interactions are evaluated. Furthermore, the Mn–Mn coupling interaction types are identified through electron spin resonance and magnetic measurements. The continuously decreasing distances between Mn2+ ions strengthen the dipole–dipole coupling effect, resulting in the atypical red emission in a tetra-coordinated lattice environment. These findings elucidate the spectral regulation mechanism from the perspective of magnetic coupling interactions, providing a new pathway to regulate Mn2+-related emission.

aptamer -- oncolytic virus -- glioma -- dynamic light scattering -- microscale thermophoresis
Аннотация: Aptamers are currently being investigated for their potential to improve virotherapy. They offer several advantages, including the ability to prevent the aggregation of viral particles, enhance target specificity, and protect against the neutralizing effects of antibodies. The purpose of this study was to comprehensively investigate an aptamer capable of enhancing virotherapy. This involved characterizing the previously selected aptamer for vaccinia virus (VACV), evaluating the aggregation and molecular interaction of the optimized aptamers with the recombinant oncolytic virus VV-GMCSF-Lact, and estimating their immunoshielding properties in the presence of human blood serum. We chose one optimized aptamer, NV14t_56, with the highest affinity to the virus from the pool of several truncated aptamers and built its 3D model. The NV14t_56 remained stable in human blood serum for 1 h and bound to VV-GMCSF-Lact in the micromolar range (Kd ≈ 0.35 μM). Based on dynamic light scattering data, it has been demonstrated that aptamers surround viral particles and inhibit aggregate formation. In the presence of serum, the hydrodynamic diameter (by intensity) of the aptamer–virus complex did not change. Microscale thermophoresis (MST) experiments showed that NV14t_56 binds with virus (EC50 = 1.487 × 109 PFU/mL). The analysis of the amplitudes of MST curves reveals that the components of the serum bind to the aptamer–virus complex without disrupting it. In vitro experiments demonstrated the efficacy of VV-GMCSF-Lact in conjunction with the aptamer when exposed to human blood serum in the absence of neutralizing antibodies (Nabs). Thus, NV14t_56 has the ability to inhibit virus aggregation, allowing VV-GMCSF-Lact to maintain its effectiveness throughout the storage period and subsequent use. When employing aptamers as protective agents for oncolytic viruses, the presence of neutralizing antibodies should be taken into account.

Аннотация: We present experimental and theoetical results of spin crossover studies in magnetically ordered materials. The effect of spin crossovers on the electronic structure of transition metal oxides and on the Bose condensation of spin excitons in the vicinity of the spin crossover is considered. A new method for calculating the interatomic superexchange interaction in transition metal oxides is discussed that allows considering selective contributions of excited magnetic cation terms. Changes in the exchange interaction sign are predicted for spin crossovers for d5—d7 ions. In the RCoO3 family of rare-earth cobaltites, the ground state is nonmagnetic, but, as the temperature increases, thermal excitations of high-spin states give rise to a number of experimentally detectable features. In defective RCoO3 samples, stabilization of the high-spin term and ferromagnetic ordering are possible. Dynamical crossovers under external pumping and the dynamics of multiplicity, magnetization, and local lattice distortions are discussed. Geophysical implications of spin crossovers are considered, and metallic properties of Earth's mantle at a depth of 1400—1800 km are predicted.

topological insulator -- edge states -- strongly correlated systems -- 2D systems
Аннотация: The effect of Coulomb interaction on the 2D second order topological superconductor is investigated taking into account different geometries of the boundary in the mainframe of the mean-field approximation. The spontaneous symmetry breaking, described earlier in Aksenov et al (2023 Phys. Rev.B 107 125401), is found to be robust against the boundary deformation. Meanwhile, the details of the state with spontaneously broken symmetry is found to be dependent on the specific boundary geometry. Considering different types of the boundary of the 2D system, it is demonstrated that the deviation of the electron density in the broken symmetry state is determined by the position of the zero-dimensional (second-order) excitations with nearly zero energy. The critical value of the Coulomb interaction, at which the transition occurs, is found to be determined by the energy of these excitations, which is non-zero due to overlapping of the wave-functions at different corners.

Effect of local Coulomb interaction on Majorana corner modes: Weak and strong correlation limits / S. V. Aksenov, A. D. Fedoseev, M. S. Shustin, A. O. Zlotnikov // Phys. Rev. B. - 2023. - Vol. 107, Is. 12. - Ст. 125401, DOI 10.1103/PhysRevB.107.125401. - Cited References: 63. - We acknowledge fruitful discussions with D. M. Dzebisashvili and V. A. Mitskan. The reported study was supported by Russian Science Foundation Project No. 22-22-20076, and Krasnoyarsk Regional Fund of Science . - ISSN 2469-9950. - ISSN 2469-9969
Аннотация: Here we present an analysis of the evolution of Majorana corner modes realizing in a two-dimensional higher-order topological superconductor (HOTSC) on a square lattice under the influence of local Coulomb repulsion. Both weak- and strong-interaction regimes are studied. It is shown that in the homogeneous system, the weak repulsion widens the region of the topologically nontrivial phase on the phase diagram. The open-boundary effect, resulting in spatial inhomogeneity of the system, leads to the appearance of the ground-state crossover as the repulsion intensity increases. Before the crossover, concentration correlators are C4 symmetric and spin independent, and the corner states have energies that are determined by the overlap of the excitation wave functions localized at the different corners. After the crossover, the concentration correlators are spin dependent and possess the spontaneously broken symmetry. In turn, the corner excitation energy is size independent and defined by the Coulomb repulsion intensity with a quadratic law. In the strong-repulsion regime we derive the effective HOTSC Hamiltonian in the atomic representation and found a rich variety of interactions induced by virtual processes between the lower and upper Hubbard subbands. It is shown that Majorana corner modes still can be realized in the limit of the infinite repulsion, although the boundaries of the topologically nontrivial phase are strongly renormalized by Hubbard corrections.

Diffraction of a Laguerre-Gaussian beam in Raman interaction with a spatially periodic pump field / V. G. Arkhipkin, D. A. Ikonnikov, S. A. Myslivets // Phys. Rev. Аннотация: We studied Fresnel diffraction of a Laguerre-Gaussian beam LGp,l with arbitrary azimuthal l and radial p indices on a grating induced during its Raman interaction with a spatially periodic pump field in an atomic medium. The diffraction pattern turned out to be more complex than the classical Talbot effect observed when a plane wave illuminates a two-dimensional grating. The simulation results show that, under certain conditions, at distances corresponding to the classical Talbot planes (integer and fractional), periodic amplitude-phase distributions appear. The diffraction patterns are not a probe-field image in the induced grating plane, but a regular array of vortex annular-shaped microbeams with an inhomogeneous intensity distribution depending on the l and p indices and with a topological charge equal to that of the initial probe beam. The intensity and spatial distribution of diffraction patterns can be controlled by Raman amplification in the induced grating by varying the pump-field intensity or the Raman detuning.
