Аннотация: The goal of the study is to determine the value of magnetocapacitance under the substitution of lanthanum for bismuth in thin LaxBi1-xFeO3 films and to find out the effect of an external bias electric field on the magnetocapacitance effect. To solve this task, the dielectric permittivity, the magnetic permeability, and the loss tangent are measured in LaxBi1-xFeO3 films in magnetic fields of up to 8 kOe in the range of temperatures 100 K < T < 1000 K. Maxima of the permittivity and permeability at low temperatures and the dependence of the permeability on the prehistory of a sample are found. An increase in the magnetocapacitance due to the substitution of lanthanum for bismuth is observed. A giant enhancement of magnetocapacitance in an external electric bias field is revealed. These phenomena are attributed to the rearrangement of the domain structure. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: A giant magnetopiezoelectric effect has been revealed in samarium ferroborate. The effective piezomodulus is increased more than twice in the antiferromagnetic phase and it is reduced by a high magnetic field. The nature of the effect is in the joint contribution of both magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic interactions. The evolution of this contribution in the magnetic field is caused by the growth of the magnetic energy including the spin reorientation. Additional data concerning the behavior of the high-frequency magnetocapacitance have been obtained. The parameters of magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic couplings and the magnetic anisotropy constant in the basal plane have been determined.

Аннотация: The capacitance and dielectric loss tangent of GdxMn1–xS (x ≤ 0.2) solid solutions have been measured at a frequency of 10 kHz without magnetic field and in a magnetic field of 8 kOe in the temperature range of 90–450 K. An increase in the permittivity and a dielectric loss maximum have been detected in the low-temperature region. It has been found that the temperature of the maximum of the imaginary part of the permittivity shifts to higher temperatures with increasing concentration. The magnetocapacitance effect has been revealed for two compositions. The dielectric loss has been described in the Debye model with “freezing” dipole moments and in the orbital-charge ordering model.

Аннотация: The magnetoresistive effect in MnSe1−XTeX manganese chalcogenides with a substitute concentration of X = 0.1 is studied by impedance spectroscopy. The magnetoimpedance above the Neel temperature is found. The obtained experimental data are explained in the framework of the model of existence of magnetic nanoareas of two types. Two activation energies in the low- and high-frequency regions are determined from the frequency and temperature dependences of the permittivity described in the Debye model. The extrema found in the temperature dependence of the pyroelectric current are consistent with the maxima in the temperature dependence of magnetization. Temperature dependence of the carrier relaxation time is established. The magnetocapacitance of the MnSe1−XTeX solid solutions is found. The change in the carrier type above the Neel temperature and the temperature of the transition to the magnetically ordered state in the MnTe nanoarea is established.

Аннотация: The main components of the tensor of the moduli of elasticity and the piezomodulus have been measured in monocrystals of the ferroborate HoFe3(BO3)4. The spin-dependent contributions to sound velocity, dielectric permeability, and piezoelectric response in the antiferromagnetic state were studied. The parameters of magnetoelectric and magnetoelastic interactions in an easy-plane magnetic-ordering phase have been defined. A phenomenological interpretation of observed effects is given.

Аннотация: The permittivity of TmxMn1–xS (0 < x < 0.15) solid solutions is measured in the frequency range of 102–106 Hz at temperatures of 300–500 K in magnetic fields of up to 12 kOe. The migration and relaxation conductivity contributions to the electric polarization are established. The relaxation time and activation energy are calculated using the Debye model. A decrease in the capacitance and relaxation time in a magnetic field is observed. The electron polarization relaxation channel provided by recombination of the electron–hole pairs is found using the infrared spectroscopy investigations.

Аннотация: The dielectric properties of the HoxMn1−xS (x ≤ 0.1) semiconductors in the frequency range of 100 ˂ ω ˂ 106 Hz at temperatures of 80−550 K have been studied. The temperature crossover from the Debye behavior of the permittivity to the resonance behavior has been found at low holmium concentrations in the compounds. The frequency of the crossover from the migration to dipole orientation polarization with the minimum dielectric loss has been determined. The positive and negative magnetocapacitances for two concentrations of holmium ions have been found. The temperature and frequency ranges of the magnetocapacitance sign change have been established and this phenomenon has been explained using the model of the transition from electrically inhomogeneous to homogeneous states.
