Аннотация: Crystal structure of RbLiCrO4 was determined in G3 phase (sp. gr. P31c) at 293, 428, 493, 523 K and in G2 phase (sp. gr. P63) at 553, 583 K applying X-ray diffraction data. The investigated crystals exhibit ‘twinning by merohedry’. The analysis of intensities and influence of anomalous scattering on them allowed us to choose twin elements and atomic configurations of twin domains for all the investigated specimens.

Аннотация: The X-ray diffractometer patterns of a reciprocal space have been analyzed in the modulated phases of Cs2ZnI4 crystals. The character of the atomic displacements in the modulation wave has been established. The temperature behaviour of both a modulation wave vector and amplitude has been determined from the position and intensity of satellite reflections.

Аннотация: The heat capacity of a Cs2ZnI4 single crystal has been measured by means of AC calorimetry. Three anomalies have been detected corresponding to a normal to inconmensurate phase transition at T-I = 116.9+/-0.1 K, an incommensurate to commensurate lock-in transition at T-L = 107.58+/-0.05 K, and a structural transition from a commensurate orthorhombic to a monoclinic phase at T-C = 93.77+/-0.05 K with thermal hysteresis. The lock-in transition has the peculiarity of being discontinuous but not showing any measurable hysteresis. After comparison with the Landau model predictions for the heat capacity, derived for the k(Delta) = (1/2 + Delta)a* case, it is concluded that Cs2ZnI4 lies close to the Lifschitz point of coexistence of the normal, incommensurate and commensurate phases.

Аннотация: Calorimetric and high pressure experiments are used to establish thermodynamic features of (NH4)(3)M3+F6 cryolites with M3+: Ga, Sc as they undergo one and three structural phase transitions, respectively. The heat capacity measurements performed between 80 K and 370 K, using an adiabatic calorimeter, have shown that all phase transitions under study are first order with different closeness to the tricritical point. The total entropy change in the Sc compound connected with the successive transformations is almost equal to the entropy change in the Ga cryolite. The effect of hydrostatic pressure has been studied up to 0.6 GPa, using differential thermographic analysis. The p-T phase diagrams of both cryolites were found to be rather complicated, including triple points. The experimental results are considered as connected with order-disorder phase transitions.

Аннотация: New phase transitions induced by hydrostatic pressure in a cubic (under standard conditions) ScF3 crystal are discovered by the methods of polarization microscopy and Raman scattering. The space groups R (3) over barc for Z = 2 and Pnma for Z = 4 are proposed for the high-pressure phases. A nonempirical computation of the lattice dynamics of the crystal is carried out. It is shown that, under normal pressure, the cubic phase is stable down to T = 0 K, while the application of a hydrostatic pressure gives rise to a phonon branch in the vibrational spectrum (between points R and M of the Brillouin zone) with negative values of squares of frequencies. The condensation of soft mode R-5 at the boundary point of the Brillouin zone leads to rhombohedral distortion of the cubic structure with the unit cell volume doubling. The calculated frequencies at q = 0 of the ScF3 lattice in the distorted rhombohedral phase are real-valued; the number and position of frequencies active in Raman scattering are in accord with the experimental values. Аннотация: We investigate generating functions for equipped trees composed of double bonds of two sorts on a hypercubic lattice of dimension d with built-in fragments. Rules for constructing these clusters are chosen to ensure the estimate for coefficients of power series in time for the longitudinal and transverse autocorrelation functions of the spin system with axially symmetric interaction. We derive a system of two equations for the tree-generating functions and an equation for the generating functions of chains leading from the root to a fragment in a tree using the Bethe approximation and under the condition that mainly bonds of one sort are taken into account. For the face-centered hypercubic lattice, we find the First terms of the 1/d expansion for the coordinate of the singular point of the generating function in both the anisotropic and the isotropic cases taking fragments in the forms of a triangle from four bonds and a four-fold bound pair into account. The obtained result is written in terms of ratios of lattice sums and is generalized to nuclear spin systems with dipole-dipole interaction. The theoretical value of the singular-point coordinate agrees well with the experimental value calculated from the tail of the absorption spectrum of the nuclear magnetic resonance in a barium fluoride monocrystal.

Аннотация: Raman scattering spectra of RbMnCl3 are measured at room temperature under high hydrostatic pressure. The results are interpreted based on first principles lattice dynamics calculations. The experimental data obtained correlate with the calculations in the low frequency domain but disagree slightly in the region of high-frequency vibrations. The transition from the hexagonal to the cubic perovskite phase observed earlier (near 0.7 GPa) was confirmed, and new transitions to lower symmetry distorted phases were discovered (at 1.1 and 5 GPa). Exchange splitting of Nd3+ spectral lines due to magnetic interactions in a magnetically ordered state was observed. Аннотация: A model Hamiltonian for B cation ordering (Sc-Nb(Ta)) in PbSc1/2Nb1/2O3 and PbSc1/2Ta1/2O3 solid solutions is constructed. The parameters of the model Hamiltonian are determined from the ab initio calculation within the ionic crystal model with allowance made for the deformability and the dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities of the ions. The temperatures of the phase transition due to the ordering of the B cations are calculated by the Monte Carlo method in the mean-field and cluster approximations. The phase transition temperatures calculated by the Monte Carlo method (1920 K for PbSc1/2Ta1/2O3 and 1810 K for PbSc1/2Nb1/2O3) are consistent with the experimental data (1770 and 1450 K, respectively). The thermodynamic properties of the cation ordering are investigated using the Monte Carlo method. (c) 2005 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: The heat capacity of NH4LiSO4, RbLiSO4, and Cs-x(NH4)(1 - x) LiSO4 crystals and its behavior over a broad temperature range including the phase transition regions were studied. The entropy changes corresponding to structural transformations in these crystals were found not to be characteristic of straightforward ordering of structural blocks. Аннотация: The theory of exchange narrowing of ferromagnetic and spin-wave resonance linewidths in ferromagnets with the randomly inhomogeneous magnetic anisotropy is developed. The calculation is carried out by the method of averaged Green functions in the framework of the coherent potential approximation (CPA). One- and three-dimensional inhomogeneities with an arbitrary correlation wave number k(c) are considered (r(c)=k(c)(-1) is the correlation radius of the inhomogeneities). The method of the approximate solution of the CPA equation is proposed which has the quick convergence. Effects of exchange narrowing of the magnetic resonance lines and shifts of these lines are calculated in the whole region of the values of the correlation wave number k(c). The approximate analytical expressions for the linewidth of the FMR in the limiting cases of the small and large k(c) are obtained. Large narrowing of the FMR and spin-wave linewidths with the decrease of the correlation, radius of inhomogeneities is the substantiation. of the main advantage of nanocrystalline and amorphous materials over usual polycrystals when they are used at high frequency devices.
