Аннотация: The results of structural and magnetic investigations of nanogranular Co–Al2O3 films formed from Co3O4/Al thin-film layered structures upon vacuum annealing are reported. The Co3O4/Al films have been obtained by sequential reactive magnetron sputtering of a metallic cobalt target in a medium consisting of the Ar + O2 gas mixture and magnetron sputtering of an aluminum target in the pure argon atmosphere. It is shown that such a technique makes it possible to obtain nanogranular Co–Al2O3 single- and multilayer thin films with a well-controlled size of magnetic grains and their distribution over the film thickness.

Аннотация: Magnetic characteristics and their spatial distribution of magnetron sputtered nanocrystalline NiFe thin films of various compositions were investigated by ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and magneto-optical Kerr effect microscopy. A sharp increase in the FMR line width and a strong deviation of the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy field were observed near the film edges. It was shown that the observed magnetic anisotropy behavior can be explained by assuming that besides the field-induced uniaxial magnetic anisotropy an additional source of the uniaxial anisotropy near the film edges exists, with the easy axis parallel to the edges. The possible origins of this additional contribution were discussed.

Аннотация: Single-layer Fe x Ni1 - x thin magnetic films have been investigated by the spin-wave resonance technique in the entire concentration range. The surface anisotropy and exchange stiffness constants for the films with a Ni content from 30 to 80 at % have been measured from the experimental standing spin wave spectra. The surface exchange spin wave penetration depth δ C = 20–30 nm has been determined from the dependences of the surface anisotropy and exchange coupling constants on the Fe20Ni80 film thickness in the range of 250–400 nm.

Аннотация: Two absorption lines are observed over a wide temperature range below T-c in the magnetic resonance spectrum of an La0.7Pb0.3MnO3 single crystal. These lines correspond to two magnetic phases in the sample. The frequency-field dependence of spectra obtained in the range of microwave radiation frequencies 10-77 GHz allows these phases to be interpreted as ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases. The phase volume ratio depends on the temperature and the magnitude of the external magnetic field. Features in the temperature behavior of parameters of the magnetic absorption line are observed in the region of the highest magnetic resistance of the sample. The results are interpreted within the mechanism of electronic phase separation. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: The spectrum of standing. spin waves has been detected by the ferromagnetic resonance method in NiFe(740 angstrom)/Cu/NiFe(740 angstrom) three-layered film structure in the perpendicular configuration for the copper thickness d(Cu) 30 angstrom, the resonance absorption curve is a superposition of two spinwave resonance spectra from individual ferromagnetic NiFe layers. For Co/Pd multilayer films, united spinwave resonance spectra have also been observed at thicknesses of the paramagnetic palladium layer up to d(Pd) 30 angstrom. The partial exchange stiffness has been calculated for a spin wave propagating across the Pd layer (A(Pd) d(c)).

Patterned film -- Topography-induced anisotropy -- Netzelmann approach -- Ferromagnetic resonance -- Damping parameter
Аннотация: Thin magnetic films with periodic surface topography are of special interest for microwave applications as their static and dynamic magnetic characteristics can be readily adjusted. In this paper, we explore the capabilities of a simple method for producing large-area periodically patterned films by creating regularly spaced grooves on a substrate using a diamond cutter. For 110-nm-thick films, it was found that the substrate-topography-induced magnetic anisotropy was inversely proportional to the pattern period, which in experimental samples varied from 5 to 20 mu m. Based on the Netzelmann theory, analytical expressions for demagnetization tensor components were obtained, which accord well with the experimental data. The measurements of the natural ferromagnetic resonance spectra demonstrated that the increase of the topography-induced magnetic anisotropy with the decrease of the pattern period led to the increase of the resonance frequency from 0.65 to 1.86 GHz, and to a decrease of the linewidth and effective damping parameter.

Аннотация: Fused silica plates have been implanted with 40 keV Co+ or Ni+ ions to high doses in the range of (0.25-1.0) x 10(17) ions/cm(2), and magnetic properties of the implanted samples have been studied with ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) technique supplemented by transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The high-dose implantation with 3d-ions results in the formation of cobalt and nickel metal nanoparticles in the irradiated subsurface layer of the SiO2 matrix. Co and Ni nanocrystals with hexagonal close packing and face-centered cubic structures have a spherical shape and the sizes of 4-5 nm (for cobalt) and 6-14 nm (for nickel) in diameter. Room-temperature FMR signals from ensembles of Co and Ni nanoparticles implanted in the SiO2 matrix exhibit an out-of-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy that is typical for thin magnetic films. The dose and temperature dependences of FMR spectra have been analyzed using the Kittel formalism, and the effective magnetization and g-factor values have been obtained for Co- and Ni-implanted samples. Nonsymmetric FMR line shapes have been fitted by a sum of two symmetrical curves. The dependences of the magnetic parameters of each curve on the implantation dose and temperature are presented.

Аннотация: Two-layer DyCo/FeNi films were studied by the spin-wave resonance method. The experimental microwave frequency absorption spectra of the two-layer DyCo/FeNi films demonstrate the bulk and surface peaks of the exchange spin modes. The dependence of the surface condition type formed at the interface on the composition of the hard-magnetic layer (before and after the compensation point) was found. The values of the surface anisotropy constant and the type of magnetization pinning at each surface of the FeNi layer were estimated.

spin-wave resonance -- surface-anisotropy constant -- exchange-interaction constant -- amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys
Аннотация: Layered magnetic films of Co–P alloy, which are sets of laminates with certain atomic and chemical structures, have been investigated by spin-wave resonance. Coatings of two types were synthesized: a magnonic crystal (amorphous Co(P)/fcc Co(P))N and gradient Co(P) films. They exhibit two different modifications of the spin-wave resonance (SWR) spectrum. In the first case, the SWR spectrum is described as Hn(n) ~ n2 with a modification caused by the formation of the first stop band of the magnonic crystal. In the second case, the dependence of resonance fields Hn of the spin-wave modes on mode number n has the form of Hn(n) ~ n2/3. Thermal annealing leads to crystallization (amorphous alloy → fcc) and causes transformation of the layered films to the films of single-phase Co–P alloys, which is accompanied by a change in the shapes of the SWR spectra and occurrence of a “exchange kink” spectral modification.

Кл.слова (ненормированные):
ferromagnetic resonance -- frequency doubling -- nonlinear dynamics -- thin magnetic film -- second harmonic
Аннотация: Second harmonic generation versus strength and direction of the applied static magnetic field was measured for a thin permalloy (Ni80Fe20) film in a microstrip line at a driving frequency of 1 GHz and maximum input power of ~110 mW. The measurements revealed two peaks in the double frequency signal—in the low static field (~10 Oe) and the high one (~45 Oe). To explain these findings, a macrospin model of a thin magnetic film with in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy was considered. A perturbation expansion of the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation provided an explanation of the experimental data. The analysis of the model revealed that the low-field peak was caused by the longitudinal second-order magnetization component and the high-field peak by the transversal one. It was also shown that the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of the film and the dependence of the magnetic damping parameter on the applied field play an important role in the process of the second harmonic generation. The results obtained give insights into some peculiarities of the nonlinear magnetization dynamics that are important in the development of magnetic film-based devices in the field of microwave signal processing and manipulation.
