Аннотация: Fractal clusters in amorphous thin films are examples of growth models. The main models are the Witten-Sander model and its modifications. It is believed that fractal patterns are formed in the course of the crystallization of an amorphous phase. It is shown that self-propagating high-temperature synthesis can be initiated in an Al/Ge film system and fractal patterns are formed in the reaction products. It is conjectured that the transition of an amorphous phase to a crystalline phase does not play a substantial role in the appearance of such patterns, while the formation of fractal clusters is determined by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. Аннотация: The temperature dependences of resistivity and thermal emf on a Kondo lattice are calculated using the spinpolaron approximation. The peaks and sign reversal points of thermal emf as a function of temperature and concentration below the temperature of the transition to the paramagnetic state are determined. Аннотация: The temperature dependence of resistivity and the bulk modulus are calculated on the Kondo lattice, with ring exchange between localized spins, using the spin-polaron and adiabatic approximation. Peak and zero values of the bulk modulus as functions of temperature and concentration are determined below the temperature of the transition to the paramagnetic state. The effects of the nearest order between transverse spin components and a value of the ring exchange between localized spins on magnetoresistivity are estimated.

Аннотация: Conventional magnetic and transport measurements of the melt-grown mixed-valence manganite (La0.4Eu0.6)(0.7)Pb0.3MnO3 have been supplemented by a magnetic resonance study. The experimental data support the model of two magnetic phases coexisting in the crystal volume. At a temperature T-*, which is well above Curie temperature T-C, ferromagnetic clusters appear in the sample. These ferromagnetic regions possess a higher conductivity in comparison with the paramagnetic background (majority phase). On cooling through T-C, the magnetization of the spatially confined ferromagnetic clusters of the minority phase freezes in random directions with respect to the magnetization of the ferromagnetic majority phase due to the difference of the exchange interactions at the phase boundaries from the intraphase interactions in sign and value. Such a mixed state is responsible for the observed magnetic glassylike behavior of the system that is characteristic of inhomogeneous magnets. The fluctuations of the magnetic coupling value and sign in the sample volume are related to strong competition between the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions, which, in turn, results from the quenched disorder caused by the random chemical replacement of the perovskite A site of the manganite. A phase-separation state comprised of two different ferromagnetic phases has been used to account for the colossal magnetoresistance phenomenon and the magnetic-field-driven nonlinear conduction found in the crystal.

Аннотация: We have experimentally studied the magnetic properties of manganite films obtained for first time using an extraction-pyrolysis technique. It is established that the characteristics of samples significantly depend on the conditions of final annealing. The annealing at temperatures T-a 970 K is accompanied by strong thermomagmetic effects. and the resulting films possess properties similar to those of spin glasses. When the annealig temperature is increased to T-a = 1020 K, the films exhibit magnetic properties typical of ferromagnetic systems.

Аннотация: A Pb(3)Mn(7)O(15) single crystal has been grown by the flux method and studied using x-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements. The crystal is hexagonal (P6(3)/mcm space group, Z = 4) and exhibits a pronounced layered nature. Along the [001] direction (c axis), the structure consists of layers of edge-sharing MnO(6) octahedra. Pairs of Mn atoms occupy the octahedral sites located between layers forming 'bridges' along the c axis, which link neighboring Mn layers. The magnetic properties of the crystal have been investigated using ac and dc magnetization measurements in the temperature range 2-900 K at magnetic fields up to 90 kOe. The experimental data obtained suggest that in the temperature region under study several different magnetic phases can be distinguished. Down to similar to 250 K, the crystal is in the paramagnetic state. Below this temperature, short-range antiferromagnetic ordering apparently starts forming within Mn layers, although a transition to long-range magnetic order occurs at 70 K. The magnetization data obtained leads us to conclude that this state is canted antiferromagnetic with moments lying in the basal plane of the crystal. In addition, below 20 K the crystal undergoes one more magnetic transition that corresponds to spin reorientation.

Аннотация: We analyze superconducting instabilities in 3D and 2D extended Hubbard model with Coulomb repulsion between electrons on neighboring sites in the limit of low electron density (n(el) - 0) on simple cubic (square) lattice. We show that in a realistic strong-coupling case U V W (U and V are the onsite and the intersite Coulomb repulsions, respectively, and W the bandwidth) the main SC instability corresponds to the p-wave pairing and in the leading order is correctly described by the equations obtained earlier in the absence of the intersite Coulomb interaction V = 0.

Аннотация: A topical and highly promising aspect of the field of spintronics is the physics involved in the flow of a spin-polarized current through magnetic tunnel structures. This review focuses on manganite-based structures, which are appealing for their high Curie temperature, highly spin-polarized conduction electrons, high chemical stability, and well-developed fabrication technology. Particular emphasis is placed on some novel approaches to studying the tunnel structures, including the use of planar geometry and the application of combined external factors (microwave and optical radiation) to investigate spin-polarized transport.

Аннотация: We demonstrate the possibility of triplet p-wave pairing at low electron density a large number of models such as 3D and 2D Fermi-gas models with hard-core repulsion, 3D and 2D Hubbard models, and the Shubin-Vonsovsky model. The critical temperature for p-wave pairing can be considerably higher in the spin-polarized case or even in a two-band situation at low density and can reach experimentally observable values of 1–5 K. We also discuss briefly the d-wave pairing and high-Tc superconductivity with Tc ∼ 100 K which arise in the extended Hubbard model and in the generalized t-Jmodel when close to half-filling.

Аннотация: In the large variety of models such as 3D and 2D Fermi-gas model with hard-core repulsion, 3D and 2D Hubbard model, and the Shubin-Vonsovsky model, we demonstrate the possibility of triplet p-wave pairing at low electron density. We show that the critical temperature of the p-wave pairing can be strongly increased in a spin-polarized case or in a two-band situation already at low density and reach experimentally feasible values of (1-5) K. We also discuss briefly d-wave pairing and high-T-C superconductivity with T-C similar to 100 K, which arises in the 2D t-J model in the range of parameters realistic for cuprates.
