Аннотация: The single crystal needle shape samples of diamagnetically diluted cobalt ludwigite CoMgGaO2BO3 have been grown by the flux method. The results of x-ray diffraction and both dc and ac magnetic measurements are presented. The unit cell volume undergoes a noticable growth under dilution from 328.31 Å3 for the parent compound Co3O2BO3 to 345.46 Å3 for CoMgGaO2BO3. The temperature of magnetic transition is considerably lower for the latter compound (25 K against 43 Kfor Co3O2BO3). The dc magnetization temperature dependencies undergo the splitting of field cooled and zero-field cooled regimes and the ac magnetic susceptibility temperature dependencies are frequency dependent pointing out a possible spin-glass freezing in the magnetic system.

Аннотация: We study the transmission spectra of a one-dimensional photonic crystal with a defect containing a four-level atomic medium that exhibits a greatly enhanced third-order susceptibility while having a vanishing linear susceptibility dependent on the electromagnetically induced transparency. Two ways of controlling the transmission of a photonic crystal are discussed: via absorption, i.e., nonlinear (two-photon) absorption of the probe field enhanced by constructive quantum interference, and via dispersion, which comes down to shifting the resonance frequency of the defect mode for the probe field by varying the refractive index based on the giant Kerr nonlinearity (cross-phase modulation). We demonstrate that such systems enable nonlinear all-optical switching at ultralow intensities of the coupling and switching laser fields.

Аннотация: Temperature and field dependences of the magnetic moment in the temperature range 4 K < T < 300 K and electron spin resonance linewidths and the g-factor in the temperature range 80 K < T < 300 K for the Bi24(CoBi)O40 compound synthesized by the solid-state reaction are analyzed. The magnetic susceptibility of Bi24(CoBi)O40 within the range 4 K < T < 300 K is described well by the Curie-Weiss law with the negative paramagnetic Curie temperature ? = -12.3 K and the effective magnetic moment ? = 5.08?B. Аннотация: PbFeBO4 single crystals up to 4x2.5x0.5 mm3 in size were grown by spontaneous crystallization from a solution in a melt and their magnetic and dielectric properties were investigated.The high Neel temperature TN=114 K and the absence of the broad maximum of susceptibility above the Neel temperature suggest that the PbFeBO4 crystal is a three-dimensional antiferromagnet.The magnetic susceptibility anisotropy in the ordered state indicates that the antiferromagnetic vector is directed along the orthorhombic c axis. The anomalies of dielectric permittivities ε' and ε″ were observed in both polycrystalline and single-crystal samples within thetemperature ranges where the short-and long-range magnetic orders are established.This confirms the correlation between the magnetic and electric subsystems in the crystal.

Аннотация: Dynamic susceptibilities (Green's function) in a system of two wave fields of different physical nature connected by the zero-mean random coupling parameter are studied. Magnetoelastic waves in zero-mean magnetostrictive media are considered. It is shown that the Green's functions of the spin G? m(?) and elastic G? u(?) waves at the intersection of the initial dispersion laws have the form of broad single-mode peaks with the fine structure on the tops of these peaks: the narrow resonance on the top of G? m(?) and the narrow antiresonance on the top of G? u(?) For the longwave inhomogeneities the widths of the broad peaks and narrow peaks are determined by the rootmean- square fluctuation and the correlation wave number, respectively. Аннотация: Waves in superlattice (SL) contained inhomogeneities with anisotropic correlation properties are considered. The anisotropy of the correlation during the transition from 3D to 2D disorder is characterized by the parameter ? 1 = k ||/k?-1, where k || and k? are the correlation wave numbers along the axis of the SL and in the plane of the its layers, respectively (r || =k || -1 and r?=k?-1 are the correlation radii). Dependencies of both the dynamic susceptibility and density of states at the continuous transition from the isotropic three-dimensional inhomogeneities (? 1 = 0) to the twodimensional ones (? 1 = -1) have been obtained. Аннотация: PbFeBO4 and PbMnBO4 single crystals were synthesized. The X-ray, magnetic, dielectric, Mossbauer, and resonance investigations of the crystals were fulfilled. It is established that single-crystal PbFeBO4 is an antiferromagnet with a Neel temperature TN =114 K, while PbMnBO4 is a ferromagnet with a Curie temperature TC = 31 K. Both single-crystal compounds have a strong anisotropy of the magnetic and dielectric properties. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Аннотация: TThe excitation spectrum of a catena-[FeII(ClO4)2{FeIII(bpca)2}]ClO4 anisotropic 1D magnet with alternating high-spin and low-spin iron ions has been calculated with the use of the diagrammatic technique for Hubbard operators. This has allowed establishing conformity with the Ising model, for which the magnetic susceptibility has been calculated by the transfer-matrix method. The introduction of a statistical ensemble taking into account the presence of chains with different lengths and iron ions with different spins has allowed describing the modification of the magnetic susceptibility under optical irradiation.
