Аннотация: Antiferromagnetic resonance in single crystals of rhombohedral gadolinium ferroborate GdFe3(BO3)(4) was studied. The frequency-field dependences of antiferromagnetic resonance over the frequency range 26-70 GHz and the temperature dependences of resonance parameters for magnetic fields oriented along the crystal axis and in the basal plane were determined. It was found that the iron subsystem, which can be treated as a two-sublattice antiferromagnet with anisotropy of the easy-plane type, experienced ordering at T = 38 K. At temperatures below 20 K, the gadolinium subsystem with the opposite anisotropy sign strongly influenced the anisotropic properties of the crystal. This resulted in a spontaneous spin-reorientation transition from the easy-plane to the easy-axis state at 10 K. Below 10 K, magnetic field-induced transitions between the states were observed. Experimental phase diagrams on the temperature-magnetic field plane were constructed for fields oriented along the crystal axis and in the basal plane. A simple model was used to calculate the critical transition fields. The results were in close agreement with the experimental values measured at T = 4.2 K for both field orientations. Аннотация: An analysis is made of the two-dimensional Heisenberg model with S = 1/2, anisotropic exchange interaction between nearest neighbors, and alternating exchange in two directions, [100] and [010] (corresponding to condensation of the (pi,pi) mode) and in one direction [100] (corresponding to condensation of the (pi,0) mode), The quantum Monte Carlo method is used to calculate the thermodynamic characteristics and the spin correlation functions which are used as the basis to determine the boundary of stability of an anisotropic antiferromagnetic with respect to alternation of exchange delta = (1 - J(x,y) / J(z))(0.4) in the (pi,pi) model and delta = (1 - J(x,y) / J(z))(0.31) in the (pi,0) model. In the (pi,0) model a disordered quantum state exists in the range (1 - J(x,y) / J(z))(0.31) delta (0.3-0.35). The energy (E - 0.68)

Аннотация: The two-dimensional (2D) Heisenberg model with anisotropic exchange (Delta = 1 - J(x)/J(z)) and with negative next nearest neighbor exchange (J(2)) with S = 1/2 is investigated by using the quantum-mechanical Monte-Carlo method. The energy, magnetic moment at a site, heat capacity, and spin-spin correlation functions are calculated. The stability regions for Neel ordering of spins as well as the strip-phase and gapless quantum spin liquid are determined in the interval Delta/2 less than or equal to J(2)/ J(1)less than or equal to 1/(2 Delta). Аннотация: Calculations of the thermodynamic quantities, and the spectra of spinons, triplet excitations, and two-particle spin-singlet (Delta S-z = 0, +/- 1) excitations for a weakly coupled antiferromagnetic S = 1/2 spin chain are made using a mean-field approximation for the interchain couplings (J(2)) by the quantum Monte Carlo method. The mass gaps in these excitation spectra are estimated as functions of the interchain coupling. The critical held H-c, and the temperatures at which the spinon and singlet gaps close (T-1 and T-2, respectively) are obtained. Some peculiarities of the staggered magnetization, the specific heat, and the spin-spin correlation function are found at T-1 = 0.9J(2), T-2 = 1.5J(2), H-c = 3.8J(2), as determined by linear function fitting for J(2)/J(1) < 0.15 The intrachain and interchain couplings, and the staggered magnetization for KCuF3, Sr2CuO3, and Ca2CuO3 are estimated, and mass gaps are predicted to exist in the spectra of the spinons and the singlet two-particle excitations.

Аннотация: The thermodynamic quantities, two- and four-spin correlation functions as well as the correlation radius for weakly coupled antiferromagnetic spin chains with S = 1/2 are calculated using the mean-field approximation for the interchain coupling (J(2)) for longitudinal and transverse spin components by quantum Monte Carlo method. Results for the staggered magnetization and Neel temperature are in agreement with general scaling arguments. The value of triplet DeltaS(z) =1 gp in the spectrum of excitations is estimated. The transverse staggered field was found to induce an additional maximum in the correlation radius of the four spin correlation function around T/J(1) approximate to [0.05 divided by 0.075), J(2)/J(1) 0.03.

Аннотация: Magnetic states and phase transitions of the layered triangular antiferromagnets in an applied field are studied. It is shown that in compounds like VBr2 and VCl2 quantum effects change the ground state structure and cause successive phase transitions as the magnetic field increases. Coplanar structures of different spin configuration are realized far from the saturation field and a noncoplanar structure of umbrella-type configuration is realized near this field. The ground-state phase diagram is constructed, and a finite region of fields where the collinear phase is also possible is indicated.

Аннотация: GdFe3(BO3)4, single crystals were grown from melt-solutions based on bismuth trimolybdate and lithium tungstate. Single crystals of gadolinium ferroborate from lithium-tungstate solution-melt were grown for the first time. The magnetic properties of the grown crystals are compared. It is shown that the GdFe3(BO3)4, ferroborate obtained using bismuth solution-melt trimolybdate contains impurities of Bi3+ ions (6% at.), which replace Gd3+ ions. Whereas GdFe3(BO3)4, ferroborate grown from a solution-melt based on lithium tungstate does not seem to contain such uncontrolled impurities.

Аннотация: The possibility of implementing a quantum-spin-liquid-type state in a two-layer triangular spin-1/2 antiferromagnet at T = 0 is investigated. The ratio of intra- to interlayer exchange constants (j) is found under which a transition from the classical state with 120 degrees triangular order to a quantum state with zero magnetization per site occurs; in this case, the spins of adjacent layers form singlets that are separated from triplet excitations by an energy gap. Compared with an analogous system with the square lattice, the range of j in which the classical ordered state is realized turns out to be an order of magnitude smaller due to the effects of frustration; in this case, the behavior of thermodynamic quantities is analogous, on the whole, to that in two-layer square lattices; a difference manifests itself in the behavior of the gap in the spectrum of quasiparticles in an external magnetic field h. For small fields h, a j-h phase diagram is constructed that determines the domains in which the 120 degrees and the singlet phases exist. It is established that, in the neighborhood of the second-order phase transition, the contribution, to the thermodynamic quantities, of longitudinal spin fluctuations, which are disregarded in the spin-wave description, is comparable to the contribution of transverse fluctuations. Аннотация: It is shown that frustrations caused by additional spins result in a greater variety of phases with commensurate and incommensurate periods as well as in the appearance of nonperiodic phases. It is established that a single-e modulated phase is unstable against zero-point motions. As a result, a disordered state with zero magnetization at a site can exist in a wide range of values of the frustration parameters.
