Аннотация: The (MgB2)1-xCox composite tapes fabricated by the ex situ PIT method were investigated. The structural and magnetic properties were characterized. Only MgB2 and Co phases were observed in the composites while x B 0.2. A superconducting transition temperature was stable for these samples. Аннотация: Characteristics of a new miniaturized coaxial resonator are theoretically investigated. It is shown that the first resonant frequency of the resonator can be significantly lowered relative to the second one and the resonator dimensions can be considerably decreased as compared to those of a traditional dielectric filled quarter wavelength coaxial resonator. Based on the investigated resonator, a fourth order bandpass filter has been designed and fabricated. The filter stopband at a level of no worse than –90 dB extends to the frequency that exceeds the passband center frequency by a factor of 47. Calculated frequency responses are in good agreement with those measured on the fabricated filter prototypes.

Аннотация: The influence of the oscillation phases of the dipole moments induced in metal nanoparticles and quantum dots by an external laser field on their interaction energy is considered. It is shown that a difference in resonant frequencies leads to the formation of additional minima and maxima, which are absent in the spectral dependence of the interaction energy of identical particles at similar orientations of the pair of particles with respect to the plane of polarisation of radiation. These features are due to the fact that the oscillation phase difference of the induced dipole moments of particles reaches values close to π.

Аннотация: We consider the problem of time-optimal realization of the quantum Fourier transform gate for a single qudit with number of levels d from 3 to 8. As a qudit the quadrupole nucleus with spin I 1/2 controlled by NMR is considered. We calculate the dependencies of the gate error on the duration of radio-frequency pulse obtained by numerical optimization using Krotov-based algorithm. It is shown that the dependences of minimum time of QFT gate implementation on qudit dimension are different for integer and half-integer spins.

Аннотация: In this study, the superconducting Nd(Ba,Nd)2.1Cu3O7−δ system has been prepared using conventional solid-state reaction technique. Transport properties including structural/microstructural evolution, electrical, magnetic and critical current density properties were investigated. After high temperature heat treatments at over 1,000 °C, large and strongly connected grains were obtained but weakly connected and small in size granular formation were obtained for the low temperature heat treated samples at around 900 °C. The best T c and T 0 values were obtained as 93 and 89 K respectively for the sample prepared at 1,020 °C for 24 h, which is very close to peritectic temperature of YBCO material. Magnetization of the sample heat treated at 1,020 °C was investigated in detail. The magnetization hysteresis loops are expounded to be the product of Nd-123 grains and unscreened Nd3+ ions within intergranular boundaries and vortex cores. The peak effect on the magnetization curves was described by the extended critical state model. Temperature dependencies of the irreversibility field, the peak field and the full penetration field correlate and there is scaling behavior of the pinning force as well. Thermoelectric power data was analyzed by “Modified two band model with linear T-term for superconductors”. Temperature dependence of thermal conductivity of the samples showed small peak with broad maximum just below the T c value. Thermal conductivity of samples prepared was calculated by using “The Modified Callaway Model and Wiedermann–Franz law” and results obtained discussed.

Аннотация: Y2/3 Se1/3Ba2Cu3Ox compound was fabricated by using solid state fabrication technique. Optimum heat treatments conditions for Y0.77Se0.33Ba2Cu3Ox were investigated. It was determined that the XRD results of these samples were similar to Y-123 phase with some impurities. Magnetization dependence of applied magnetic fields was measured in the range of 0-9В T at 10-50В K. The symmetric and asymmetric M-H loops were obtained for the samples. Magnetization loops obtained from measurements were successfully described by the extended Valkov-Khrustalev model. The temperature and applied magnetic field dependencies of magnetization of sample were estimated and critical current density of samples was calculated by Bean model and pinning force of samples was calculated by using Lorentz force. It is found from critical current density values that Se additions were acted as a pinning center which increased critical current density. В© 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Аннотация: We study dynamical correlations of two coupled large spins depending on the time and on the spin quantum numbers. In the high-temperature approximation, we obtain analytical expressions for the mutual informations, quantum and classical parts of correlations. The latter was obtained performing the non-orthogonal projective (POVM) measurements onto the spin coherent states of two spins or one spin, as well as by means of the orthogonal projective measurement of von Neumann. Contribution from quantum correlations is much less than that from classical ones and decreasing with the increase in spin quantum numbers at short times. However, it is not so in a time equal to half of the quantum period. © 2012 SPIE.

For PDLC films with inhomogeneous boundary conditions at the polymer -- liquid crystal interface, asymmetry of the angular structure of light scattering with respect to the polar angle is revealed. Besides, experimental results on transmittance are presented.

The protocol is implemented by the conditionally induced beam-splitter coupling, which leads to the selective swapping between two photonic modes. Such coupling occurs in a quantum system prepared in the superposition of two ground states with only one of them being involved in the swapping. All the entangled states in the category, such as entangled pairs of coherent states or Fock states (NOON states), can be efficiently produced in the same way by this method. Аннотация: Kinetics of laser-induced photobleaching of fluorone dyes (fluorescein, dibromofluorescein, eosin Y, erythrosin B, Rose Bengal) is studied in a chitosan matrix. For all dyes the bleaching kinetics at the intensities of laser radiation 0.7 — 11.9 W cm-2 demonstrates quasi-monomolecular behaviour. The results are analysed using a kinetic model, based on the four-level (S0, S1, T1, Tn) scheme of the dye with chemically active triplet states taken into account. It is shown that the rate constants of the chemical reaction involving higher triplet states in the dyes studied amount to (3.9 — 18.6) × 106 s-1 and exceed the analogous values for the reaction involving the first lower triplet states by nine orders of magnitude. The rate of reaction involving the first triplet states appeared to be higher by one — two orders of magnitude than that in the case of higher triplet states involved because of low population of the latter. The possible mechanism of dye bleaching with participation of chitosan that consists in reduction of the dye to the leuco form by transfer of hydrogen from the chitosan matrix is discussed.

Аннотация: Eu–Ba–Cu–O composition was synthesized by solid state reaction technique. To determine optimum growth temperature, heat treatment was examined on the material at 880–1,100 °C. Microstructural evolution, phase formation and elemental distribution depending on heat treatments were examined by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope analysis. Optimum fabrication conditions were determined as 1,020 °C for 24 h under oxygen atmosphere and detailed characterization of corresponding compound was performed. The magnetization hysteresis loops are expounded to be the product of superconducting Eu-123 grains and magnetic Eu2+ ions. The peak effect on the magnetization curves was described by the extended critical state model. Scaling of the pinning force was found such that the peak position is proportional to the irreversibility field H irr and the maximum pinning force is proportional to H irr 2 .

Аннотация: Nanoclusters and nanocrystals of the room temperature magnetic spinel CuCr2S4 synthesized using a facile solution-based method have been examined by transmission electron microscopy, magnetic measurements, and magnetic resonance over a wide frequency range 9.6–80 GHz and at temperatures down to 4.2 K. Decreasing of the resonance field and broadening of the resonance lines below 50 K for both samples are due to the freezing of magnetic moments of nanocubes and nanocrystalline particles constituting nanoclusters. The effective fields of averaged magnetic anisotropy (HA)≌2.4 kOe are similar for both nanopowder samples as estimated from resonance measurements at T = 4.2 K. An additional blocking temperature T b ≅ 300 K appears in nanoclusters due to freezing of the magnetic moment of the entire cluster as a whole. Below this blocking temperature, the magnetic dipolar field acting in boundary areas of interacting constituent nanocrystals is responsible for the additional low-field resonance line observed in the resonance spectra of nanoclusters at X-band.

Аннотация: The spatial and temporal dynamics of two short pulses propagating in an optically dense medium of resonant three-level Lambda-atoms is investigated numerically and analytically. The maximum coherence for the Raman transition due to coherent population trapping. it is shown that, at the initial stage of propagation, the waveforms of such pulses only slightly change along the length of the medium, which may considerably exceed the length of linear absorption for a single weak pulse. As the length of the absorbing medium increases, the energy of the probe (first) pulse is completely transferred into the second (control) pulse.

Аннотация: We studied the transmission spectrum of a one-dimensional photonic crystal containing a defect layer in which electromagnetically induced transparency is possible. The analysis is performed taking into account the spatial inhomogeneity of interacting fields in the photonic crystal. It is found that the transmission spectrum of such a photonic crystal depends on the spatial overlap of defect modes excited by probe and control radiations. It is shown that electromagnetically induced transparency can result in a considerable narrowing of the defect mode spectrum. В© 2009 Kvantovaya Elektronika and Turpion Ltd.

Аннотация: We have studied the spectral properties of a one-dimensional photonic crystal with a structure defect that represents an anisotropic nanocomposite layer sandwiched between two multi-layer dielectric mirrors. The nanocomposite consists of metallic nanoscale inclusions of orientationally ordered spheroidal shape, dispersed in a transparent matrix, and is characterised by an effective resonant permittivity. Each of the two orthogonal polarisations of probe radiation corresponds to a particular plasmon resonant frequency of the nanocomposite. The problem of calculating the transmittance spectrum of the waves with s- and p-polarisations for such structures is solved. Spectral manifestation of splitting of the defect mode depending on the structure parameters and volumetric fraction of the nanospheroids is studied. The essential dependence of the position of maxima of the defect modes in the bandgap of the photonic crystal and their splitting on the incidence angle, polarisation, and the ratio of lengths of the polar and equatorial semi-axes of the spheroidal nanoparticles is shown.

Аннотация: The quantum properties of dynamic correlations in a system of an electron spin surrounded by nuclear spins under the conditions of free induction decay (FID) and spin echo have been studied. Analytical results for the time evolution of mutual information, classical part of correlations, and quantum part characterized by quantum discord have been obtained within the central spin model in the high-temperature approximation. The same formulas describe the quantum discord in both the FID and the spin echo although the forms of the dependences are different because of difference in the parameters entering into the formulas. Discord of the spin echo compared with the FID has a strong dependence on time at short times, and it tends to zero with decreasing of the magnetic field, whereas in the case of the FID it reaches a plateau.

Аннотация: In this theoretical paper, we propose a method for measuring the temperature profile in the active topsoil of the Arctic tundra using observations of the brightness temperature for two different polarizations of the radiation at frequencies of 1.4, 6.93, 7.3, and 10.7 GHz. A multifrequency physical model of microwave emission of bare soil, a dielectric model of the Arctic tundra soil, and temperature profiles, which were measured in the active topsoil at the Toolik field station on the Alaska North Slope, were used to calculate the observed values of the brightness temperature. Temperature profiles were retrieved from the observed values of the brightness temperature in the approximation of a piecewise-linear profile of topsoil temperature during 2010–2011. Correlation analysis of the temperature profiles measured at the Toolik station and retrieved from the radiometric data has shown that in winter the error of measurement of the soil temperature at depths of 0.6 and 16.0 cm in terms of the variance (correlation coefficient) does not exceed 2.3 (0.98) and 7.2 (0.62°C), respectively. In summer, the error of measurement of the soil temperature using the radiometric method is two times less than in winter.
