Аннотация: An effective method based on linearization of the Landau-Lifshitz equation has been developed to determine normal magnetization oscillation modes in a discrete model of a condensed medium. The possibility to calculate microwave absorption spectra for ferromagnetic specimens of any shape is shown.

Аннотация: Networks of superconducting Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi-2212) nanowires were fabricated by the electrospinning technique. The nanowires have a diameter of the order of 150–200 nm and lengths up to the micrometer range and form a nonwoven, fabric-like network with numerous interconnections enabling a current flow between the nanowires. The porosity of this nanowire network is 0.9928. Therefore, this material represents a novel class of ultraporous high-temperature superconductors. The magnetizations of the nanowire networks [M(T) and M(H)] were recorded by SQUID magnetometry. The magnetic properties were analyzed using the extended critical state model (ECSM). It is supposed that the averaged diameter of the nanowires rules the magnetic field dependence of the critical current density of the nanowire network. Single nanowires have remarkably high values of the critical current density of 1.04×107A/cm2 at 5 K. The macroscopic critical current density less than ∼0.05A/cm2 at 5 K is fine for this lightweight material. Using ECSM, several important magnetic parameters could be determined including the penetration field Hp, the irreversibility fields Hirr, the upper critical field Hc2, and the flux pinning forces. Applications for this material class may be found in the direction of sensors, thin shielding layers, or nanoporous bulks.

Аннотация: The structural and magnetic properties of a niobium nitride (NbN) film prepared by reactive sputtering onto a quartz substrate are investigated. It is shown using scanning electron microscopy that the film has a columnar structure with a diameter of crystallite columns of about 50 nm. The film magnetization loops are measured for the field orientation parallel and perpendicular to its surface. Based on the experimental data, the critical current densities of the film are estimated in both cases. For the field parallel to the film surface, the estimate is 6.5 × 104 A/cm2 at the liquid helium temperature. For the field perpendicular to the surface, the critical current density is close to the depairing current density (107 A/cm2). Analysis of the results based on different models of magnetic vortex pinning in superconductors shows that in the former case, pinning occurs at the boundaries of columns in the bulk of the sample, while in the latter case, it is determined by the influence of the surface barrier.

Аннотация: We report upon the specific heat and magnetocaloric properties of Cu2MnBO5 over a temperature range of 60–350 K and in magnetic fields up to 18 kOe. It is found that at temperatures below the Curie temperature (TC ∼ 92 K), CP(T)/T possesses a linear temperature-dependent behavior, which is associated with the predominance of two-dimensional antiferromagnetic interactions of magnons. The temperature independence of CP/T = f(T) is observed in the temperature range of 95–160 K, which can be attributed to the excitation of the Wigner glass phase. The magnetocaloric effect [i.e., the adiabatic temperature change, ΔTad (T,H)] is assessed through a direct measurement or an indirect method using the CP(T,H) data. Owing to its strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy, an anisotropic magnetocaloric effect (MCE) or the rotating MCE [ΔTadrot (T)] is observed in Cu2MnBO5. A deep minimum in the ΔTadrot (T) near the TC is observed and ascribed to the anisotropy of the paramagnetic susceptibility.

Аннотация: A misalignment of anisotropic crystallites causes small values of anisotropy and decreases the critical current density of textured polycrystalline superconductors. To relate the crystallite misalignment and out-plane anisotropy, the magnetic properties of the textured Bi2223 polycrystalline superconductor were investigated. A distribution of orientation angles of crystallites was determined using different data: scanning electron microscopy images and hysteresis magnetization loops when an external magnetic field was applied at different angles with respect to the texturing plane of the sample. It was demonstrated that the standard deviation of the distribution and the magnetic disorder angle of crystallites in textured samples can be determined from the magnetization data in perpendicular directions. These data may be either the irreversible magnetization measured for two different orientations of the sample or the simultaneously measured magnetization projections parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field.

Аннотация: The exchange mechanism of the ordering of electrons on e (g) orbitals has been estimated by the quantum Monte Carlo method with the nclusion of the hopping integrals through an anion in a one-dimensional system. A magnetic state in the form of a gapless quantum spin liquid has been found. The plateau existence region in the field-dependence of the magnetization, as well as the wave vector of the modulation of the magnetic structure with Q = pi/2 in the (magnetic field-exchange alternating) plane, is determined.

Аннотация: Formation of incommensurate three-dimensional magnetic order below T* similar to 10 K in CuB2O4 is explained on the basis of strong correlation between the holes and localized spins. The Kondo lattice model is analysed for the case where spin polarons are the elementary excitations. The origin of the low-temperature specific heat maximum at T similar to 5 K is associated with a displacement of the polaron band bottom. A set of anomalies in the temperature dependence of the conductivity, shift of the optical conductivity maximum in the range of energies 0.02-0.12 eV and decreasing of the infrared absorption intensity is predicted.

Аннотация: The ground state of a two-dimensional antiferromagnet having spins S = 1/2 and interacting with acoustic phonons is investigated in the nonadiabatic approximation using the quantum-mechanical Monte Carlo method. The critical parameters of the spin-phonon coupling, corresponding to the formation of bound spin-phonon excitations, crystal symmetry lowering, and the emergence of a gap in the spin excitation spectrum, as well as the antiferromagnet-quantum spin liquid transition, are determined. The orthorhombicity parameter, the sublattice magnetization, the violation of the spherical symmetry of spin-spin correlation functions, and the magnetic moment in Gd2CuO4 and Eu2CuO4 are calculated. Аннотация: Magnetic with anisotropic anti ferromagnetic exchange interactions and special topology of coupling in the square lattice with spins pairs ordering is studied by quantum Monte Carlo method. The antiferromagnetic order is found to be more stable as compared to spin liquid state. Exchange interactions and wave vector of structure modulation for Cu3B2O6 is estimated. Аннотация: Calculations of the thermodynamic quantities, and the spectra of spinons, triplet excitations, and two-particle spin-singlet (Delta S-z = 0, +/- 1) excitations for a weakly coupled antiferromagnetic S = 1/2 spin chain are made using a mean-field approximation for the interchain couplings (J(2)) by the quantum Monte Carlo method. The mass gaps in these excitation spectra are estimated as functions of the interchain coupling. The critical held H-c, and the temperatures at which the spinon and singlet gaps close (T-1 and T-2, respectively) are obtained. Some peculiarities of the staggered magnetization, the specific heat, and the spin-spin correlation function are found at T-1 = 0.9J(2), T-2 = 1.5J(2), H-c = 3.8J(2), as determined by linear function fitting for J(2)/J(1) < 0.15 The intrachain and interchain couplings, and the staggered magnetization for KCuF3, Sr2CuO3, and Ca2CuO3 are estimated, and mass gaps are predicted to exist in the spectra of the spinons and the singlet two-particle excitations.

Аннотация: A setup is developed for measuring the ME E effect by fixing the amplitude of magnetization oscillations upon the repolarization of a sample, caused by the application of ac voltage to the sample plates. The temperature dependence of the ME E effect in a Ga2 - xFexO3 single-crystal sample is measured in external fields from 0.25 to 1 kOe at temperatures from 77.4 to 280 K. It is established that the effect disappears when the Curie temperature is attained. The hysteresis of the magnetoelectric effect related to the magnetization hysteresis is measured. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Аннотация: In the magnetic field range Delta H = 8-60 kOe we observed and studied the anomalous oscillations in the magnetic field dependence of the resistance and magnetization of single crystals of n-HgCr2Se4. The absence of periodicity in 1/H in the Delta H = 8-20 kOe range can be explained by the non-Fermi-liquid behavior of the electron subsystem and agrees with the theory of the de Haas-van Alphen in systems with intermediate valence. In stronger fields, Delta H = 20-60 kOe, the amplitude of the fundamental harmonic decreases, with the number and amplitude of the higher-order harmonics increasing, As a result, noise is superimposed on the signal as magnetic field strength grows. Аннотация: The correlation between experimental magnetic field dependences of magnetoresistance and magnetization hysteresis in granular YBa2Cu3O7 is established. Within the proposed approach, magnetoresistance is assumed to be determined by the effective field in the intergrain boundaries the ensemble of which is considered to be a Josephson medium. The effective field in the intergrain medium can be written in the form B (eff)(H)=H-4 pi M(H)x alpha, where alpha is the parameter of averaged demagnetizing factors of grains and the degree of flux compression. A comparison of experimental magnetoresistance R(H) and magnetization M(H) hysteresis dependences obtained at different external magnetic field sweep rates yields the value alpha similar to 10, which is caused by the flux compression between grains. The proposed model describes well most of the features of the magnetoresistance hysteresis in granular high-T (C) superconductors.

Аннотация: Granular high-temperature superconductors (HTSs) are characterized by the hysteretic field dependences of magnetoresistance R(H) and critical current IC(H). These hysteretic effects are described within the concept of an effective field in the intergrain medium. The effective field is a superposition of external magnetic field H and the field induced by the magnetic moments of superconducting grains into intergrain spacings (grain boundaries). The magnetization of superconducting grains is determined by two contributions: Meissner (shielding) currents (MC) and trapped magnetic fluxes (Abrikosov vortices (AV)). To develop the concept of an effective field in the intergrain medium, the magnetotransport properties (R and IC) have been compared for two cases: (AV) the magnetization of superconducting grains is only determined by the trapped magnetic flux (zero external field) and (MC) HTS grains are in the Meissner state (the external field is weaker than the first critical field of grains). In a set of experiments, the main features of the hysteretic R(H) and M(H) dependences have been illustrated and the external conditions for implementing the AV and MC states have been established. It has been found that the effects of the Abrikosov vortices and intragrain Meissner currents on an effective field in the intergrain medium at the same magnetization values are noticeably different. This is a nontrivial fact that requires a thorough study of the impact of the anisotropy of the superconducting properties of grains on the configuration of the Meissner currents in them, as well as on the orientation of vortices both inside grains and near their surface. We suggest the explanation of observed stronger effect of the Meissner currents on the intergrain medium as compared with the effect of the Abrikosov vortices.

Аннотация: The concept of an effective field in an intergranular medium is used to describe the hysteresis magnetoresistance of granular HTSCs. This effective field is a superposition of the external magnetic field and the field induced by the magnetic moments of the superconducting granules. The magnetic moment of the granules is contributed by the shielding currents and the trapped magnetic flux. We studied and analyzed the effect of the trapped flux on the magnetoresistance. It has been experimentally shown that the dependence of the residual resistance RRem (after applying of the external field) on the trapped flux clearly correlates with the behavior of the remanent magnetization. In addition, special attention was paid to a detailed comparison of the magnetoresistance of the granular YBa2Cu3O7-δ for two cases: (a) the magnetization of HTSC-granules is caused only by the trapped magnetic flux (in a zero external field) and (b) HTSC-granules are in the Meissner state (the external field is smaller than the first critical field of the granules). It has been found that Abrikosov vortices and intragranular Meissner currents differently affect the effective field in the intergranular medium (for the same values (of magnetization for cases (a) and (b) ). A possible reason for this difference is discussed.

Аннотация: The magnetization of maghemite and magnetite thin films is measured as a function of the temperature and orientation of the film. It is established that the temperature dependence of the spontaneous magnetization deviates from the Bloch law at low temperatures and is adequately described by the linear function M/M-s = 2.2(1-T/T-C) below the Curie temperature T-C. The linear temperature dependence of the magnetization below the Curie temperature is explained by the change in the spin of iron ions in tetrahedral positions due to local deformations of the crystal lattice.

Аннотация: The characteristic features of the critical spin dynamics of the cubic ferrimagnets Y3Fe5O12 and MnFe2O4 in the exchange temperature region above T(c) have been studied. The magnetic-dipole relaxation of the uniform magnetization of these ferrimagnets is shown to be suppressed. The relaxation channel due to the local uniaxial anisotropy, with a new temperature dependence, is the dominant channel.
