Nanowires -- Magnetic measurements -- Micromagnetic modeling
Аннотация: Arrays of iron nanowires (NWs) obtained by template-assisted electrodeposition constitute a promising composite material characterized by a combination of high magnetization in the filler and perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The properties of these composites arise from the interplay between the behavior of individual NWs and their magnetostatic interactions. In this study, we investigated NW arrays with identical wire diameters but varying spatial arrangements. Major hysteresis loops were studied under various field directions relative to the NW axis. Key parameters such as the slope of the magnetization curve, saturation magnetization, and coercive force were quantified. Additionally, FORC (First Order Reversal Curve) measurements were conducted with the field oriented longitudinally with respect to the NW, offering insights into the inhomogeneity of the demagnetizing field influenced by the NW array's configuration. In the sample with the highest NW density, we observed isotropic behavior of the effective demagnetizing field, and we proposed an explanation for this phenomenon using the effective media approach. Micromagnetic simulations revealed that the magnetic behavior of individual NWs with a 100 nm diameter can be described as an interchange between volumes characterized by vortex and uniform magnetization patterns. Calculations of the demagnetizing field using the effective medium model demonstrated excellent agreement with experimental data across arrays featuring different NW densities. Remarkably, the quantitative consistency of coercive field values obtained from micromagnetic simulations and experimental measurements in the range of angles from 0° to 45° for the studied samples underscores the structural homogeneity of the obtained NWs.

superconducting nanowires -- Majorana zero modes -- strong electron correlations
Аннотация: For superconducting nanowire with the pairing of extended s-type symmetry, Rashba spin-orbit interaction in a magnetic field, the influence of strong intersite charge correlations on single-particle Majorana excitations is analyzed. This problem is investigated on the basis of the density matrix renormalization group numerical method. It is shown that with an increase in the repulsion intensity of electrons located at the neighboring sites, two subbands emerge in the lower Hubbard band of the open system. Based on calculations of the Majorana polarization and degeneracy of the entanglement spectrum, it was found that a topologically nontrivial phase with one edge state survives at the edge of each of the subbands where the concentration of electrons or holes is minimal.

silicon carbide -- plasma chemistry -- surface morphology -- nanoparticles -- nanowires -- carbon shell -- core-shell
Аннотация: A plasma-chemical method for the modification of silicon carbide particles is presented, which makes it possible to obtain particles with a controlled surface morphology. The variable parameter of particle processing was the ratio of the fraction of plasma-forming (Ar) and additional (H) gases. It was shown that at Ar/H = 100/0, the formation of a carbon shell is observed; at Ar/H ratios of 91/9 and 84/16, the particles are characterized by a carbon shell decorated with silicon nanoparticles or nanowires, respectively. The modified particles were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.

Nanowires -- Statistical mechanics -- Topology
Аннотация: We analyze the behavior of caloric characteristics and the electron component of the spin polarization of excitations in the regime of strong electron correlations of a nanowire, which is characterized by induced superconductivity of the extended s-type symmetry, the Rashba spin–orbit interaction, and the Zeeman splitting of on-site energy. The problem has been analyzed using the density matrix renormalization group method. It is shown that for unambiguous identification of different phases (the topologically trivial phase with edge excitations and without them, as well as topologically nontrivial phases with one or several pairs of Majorana modes), it is insufficient to analyze each of the aforementioned characteristics separately; it is necessary to consider their features simultaneously.

polyurethane -- surface morphology -- nanoparticles -- nanowires -- core-shell -- molecular mobility -- molecular heterogeneity -- interfacial layers -- boundary layer -- transition layer
Аннотация: This article presents the surface morphology effect of silicon carbide (SiC) particles on the polyurethane binder’s structure formation in a dispersed-filled composite. The difference in the morphology and surface relief of filler particles was ensured by the implementation of plasma chemical modification. As a result of this modification, the filler consisted of core-shell particles characterized by a SiC core and a carbon shell (SiC@C), as well as a carbon shell decorated with silicon nanoparticles (SiC@C/SiNP) or nanos (SiC@C/SiNW). The study of the relaxation properties of polyurethane composites has shown that the strongest limiting effect on the molecular mobility of boundary layer’s chain segments is exerted by a highly developed surface with a complex relief of SiC@C/SiNP and SiC@C/SiNW particles. An empirical method was proposed to find the polymer fractions spent on the formation of the boundary, transition and bulk layers of the polymer matrix in the composite. It was shown that the morphology of the filler particles’ surface does not affect the dependence of the boundary layer thickness on the filler’s volume fraction. However, with an increase in the degree of surface development, the boundary layer thickness decreases.

Аннотация: Nowadays, the technical advances call for efficient electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding of transparent devices which may be subject to data theft. We developed Cu–Ag and Ni–Ag meshes on flexible PET substrate for highly efficiency transparent EMI shielding coating. Cu–Ag and Ni–Ag meshes obtained with galvanic deposition of copper and nickel on thin Ag seed mesh which was made by cracked template method. Coefficients S11, S21 and shielding efficiency (SE) were measured for Cu–Ag and Ni–Ag meshes in X-band (8–12 GHz) and K-band (18–26.5 GHz). 90 s copper deposition increase SE from 23.2 to 43.7 dB at 8 GHz with a transparency of 82.2% and a sheet resistance of 0.25 Ω/sq. The achieved maximum SE was 47.6 dB for Cu–Ag mesh with 67.8% transparency and 41.1 dB for Ni–Ag mesh with 77.8% transparency. Cu–Ag and Ni–Ag meshes have high bending and long-term stability. Minimum bend radius is lower than 100 µm. This effect allows to produce different forms of transparent shielding objects, for example, origami method. Our coatings are the leading among all literary solutions in three-dimensional coordinates: of sheet resistance–optical transmittance–cost of produced.

Аннотация: Extensive micromagnetic simulation results of the hysteresis loops in ferromagnetic nanowire with randomly oriented crystallites ordered in one chain is presented. Three main contributions to the magnetic energy of the wire had been taken into account: exchange, dipole-dipole, and the magnetic anisotropy energy of the crystallite. In cases where one of the three contributions to the energy can be neglected, the numerical calculations are in good agreement with the results of the well-known, analytically studied micromagnetic problems. In the case when all three contributions are comparable, a complex non-monotonic dependence of the coercive force on the crystallite size and the magnetic anisotropy constant is observed. In order to interpret these changes, a new micromagnetic scale is introduced, which takes into account all three contributions to the magnetic energy of the wire, and performs a correct transition to the analytically studied limits, which take into accountthe competition of any two contributions.

Аннотация: One dimensional Ta2(Pd/Pt)3(S/Se)8 nanoribbons (TPS-NR) are considered as a promising material in nanoelectronics due to their intrinsic semiconducting electronic properties. In this article, we study the stability of TPS-NR by considering their oxidation process. Our calculations showed that the Ta2(Pd/Pt)3Se8 nanoribbons are more environmentally stable than Ta2(Pd/Pt)3S8-NR. We studied the thermodynamics of the formation of monovacancies and their impact on the electronic properties of TPS-NR. Additionally, the sensing properties of environmentally stable Ta2Pd3Se8 nanoribbons were investigated. The observed changes of the electronic structure and transport properties after the adsorption of CO, NH3 and NO2 molecules reveal the mechanisms of possible application of Ta2Pd3Se8 nanoribbons as a gas sensor. The electronic transport properties of the nanoribbons exhibit a notable response to the presence of gas molecules.

Aspect ratio -- Elastic waves -- Silicon -- Wave propagation
Аннотация: Coupling of two dielectric wires with a rectangular cross section gives rise to bonding and anti-bonding resonances. The latter is featured by extremal narrowing of the resonant width for variation of the aspect ratio of the cross section and distance between wires. A plane wave resonant to this anti-bonding resonance gives rise to unprecedent enhancement of the optical forces up to several nano Newtons per micrometer length of the wires. The forces oscillate with the angle of incidence of the plane wave but always try to repel the wires. If the wires are fixed at the ends, the light power 1.5mW/µm2 bends wires with length 50 µm by order 100 nm.

Co–W alloy -- Nanowire -- Electrodeposition -- Crystal structure -- Electrodeposition -- First-order reversal curve
Аннотация: The cobalt (Co)–tungsten (W) alloys exhibit unique combinations of mechanical and magnetic properties, biocompatibility, resistance against corrosion, wear, and high-temperature, which makes them desirable materials for various practical applications. A nanoporous template with incorporated Co–W alloy nanowires is a soft magnetic composite, whose dielectric and magnetic properties can be tuned through the host material, pore distribution and size, Co–W composition and crystal structure, and geometry of the nanowires. Here, we report the composition-dependent structural and magnetic properties of Co–W alloy nanowires embedded in alumina templates by electrodeposition. The addition of W transforms cobalt from the crystalline hexagonal-close-packed (hcp) Co to a mixed nanocrystalline/amorphous-like Co(W) solid solution with ferromagnetic behavior and composition similar to that of the weakly magnetic Co3W compound. The combination of the approach to magnetic saturation, anisotropy field distribution method, micromagnetic simulations, and first-order reversal curve diagram identification method elucidates the structure-driven magnetization reversal processes in both individual nanowires and magnetostatically coupled array as a whole.

Аннотация: In the second order of the operator form of the perturbation theory, the effective interactions in a superconducting nanowire have been obtained at the strong electron correlations, when the spin-orbit coupling parameter is comparable with the hopping integral. Using the exact diagonalization technique, in short nanowires with the open boundary conditions at the strong Coulomb repulsion, the excitations corresponding to the Majorana edge states with the energy below the value of a bulk superconducting gap have been demonstrated.

Аннотация: The problems of occurrence and experimental identification of topologically nontrivial phases in condensed matter have been reviewed. The results of the study of the effect of strong intra- and interatomic Coulomb interaction on a quantum phase transition with change in the topological index in an ensemble of Hubbard fermions on a triangular lattice have been reported. Nontrivial topology of the phase of coexistence of d + id chiral superconductivity and 120° spin ordering in a system with the triangular lattice has been discussed and the formation of Majorana modes in such a phase has been demonstrated. A cascade of quantum transitions that occurs at the variation of the magnetic field or the electrochemical potential has been analyzed for an open nanowire with the Rashba spin-orbit coupling and the induced superconducting pairing potential. It has been shown that anomalies of magneto- and electrocaloric effects are manifested near such quantum transitions and can be used to experimentally test materials on the existence of topologically nontrivial phases in them. The switching of the spin-polarized current in the topological superconducting phase has been predicted for a semimetal/superconducting wire/semimetal structure in the weak nonequilibrium regime.

neutron diffraction -- orbital ordering -- spin state
Аннотация: Sr1−xYxCoO2.65 (x = 0.2) with layered perovskite structure was studied by neutron diffraction, synchrotron x-ray and magnetometry methods. It is shown that in the 90–375 K temperature range the crystal structure can be described by the monoclinic space group A2/m with the superstructure 4√2a p × 2√2a p × 4a p (with a p corresponding to the unit cell parameter of the primitive cell) while basic diffraction peaks are well indexed in the space group I4/mmm (2a p × 2a p × 4a p ) shows an almost standard magnetization. The basic magnetic structure is G-type antiferromagnetic with average magnetic moments of 2.7 μ B/Co and 1.7 μ B/Co in anion-deficient CoO4+γ and stoichiometric CoO6 layers, respectively. A ferromagnetic component of about 0.27 μ B/Co is determined from the magnetization measurements at 8 K. Sr0.8Y0.2CoO2.65 shows an almost standard magnetization versus temperature dependence whereas Sr0.75Y0.25CoO2.65 exhibits an antiferromagnet-ferromagnet transition accompanied by a structural transformation. There is practically no spontaneous magnetization in x = 0.3. The type of the magnetic structure and the high value of TN suggest that the Co3+ ions are in both structural layers predominantly in the low-spin (LS)/high-spin (HS) state mixture. It is proposed that the ferromagnetic component is due to the orbital ordering occurring at TN in the CoO5 pyramids and the concomitant appearance of ferromagnetic coupling between the Co3+(HS) ions located in these CoO5 pyramids in the anion-deficient CoO4+γ layer.

Nanowires -- Quantum interference devices -- Semiconductor insulator boundaries -- Topology
Аннотация: Abstract: The ground-state structure and fermion parity have been determined for a semiconductor nano-wire with a strong Rashba spin–orbit interaction and proximity-induced superconductivity placed in an external magnetic field under periodic boundary conditions. Allowance for the open boundaries is shown to cause the topologically nontrivial parameter region to be partitioned into a set of subregions with a different ground-state fermionic parity. This peculiarity is related to the emergence of edge modes with nonmonotonically changing excitation energies in the system as its parameters change. At the quantum transition point, at which the ground-state fermionic parity changes, the edge-mode energy is zero. The magneto- and electrocaloric effects are shown to be effective characteristics that allow the series of quantum transitions in an open nanowire to be identified experimentally. These effects at low temperatures exhibit an anomalous behavior in the parameter region for which topologically stable Majorana modes are realized in long nanowires. © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

Аннотация: Macroscopic and local magnetic anisotropy of the FeNi(P) pillars deposited using electroless plating in the pores of the nuclear track-etched polycarbonate membrane has been studied. The alloy fills the pores and forms a nail-shaped pillar. The macroscopic easy magnetization axis was found to be perpendicular to the membrane plane due to magnetic shape anisotropy. The macroscopic magnetic anisotropy constant decreases with decreasing pillar diameter from 0.4 to 0.1 μm supposedly due to increase of the pillar cap contribution. Approach to magnetic saturation analysis indicates that the order in local easy magnetization axis is localized on a nanoscale. The correlation length of the local easy axis and the local magnetic anisotropy field in (Fe100−xNi x )98P2 pillars of different compositions with diameter of 0.4 μm are studied.
