Аннотация: Fresnel diffraction of light beams with a topological charge on a 2D regular amplitude transparency mask is studied. Numerical predictions show that the 3D optical lattices of optical vortices can be formed using the Talbot effect, with these predictions confirmed by the experimental reconstruction of all 3D optical vortex lattices. The periodicity of the 3D optical vortex lattices is determined by the light wavelength and periodicity of a transparency mask. Furthermore, it is shown that the optical vortices are created and annihilated during light propagation behind the mask with the preservation of the total topological charge. The 3D optical vortex lattices are considered to be tolerant to the perturbations induced by trapped particles caused by the features of the Talbot effect. The 3D optical vortex lattices open new possibilities for light-matter interactions and the related applications.

Аннотация: Mid‐infrared (mid‐IR) nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals are indispensable for the mid‐IR lasers generation with tunable wavelengths from 3 to 20 µm. AgGaSe2 is a commercial mid‐IR NLO crystal with the highest figures of merit, but suffers low laser damage threshold (LDT). To achieve the balance of optical transmission, NLO effect, and LDT, it is proposed to molecularly modify the AgGaSe2 structure by introducing the [LiSe4] tetrahedra, and successfully grow large crystals of a new selenide AgLiGa2Se4. The replacement of half of the heavy Ag+ cations with light Li+ increases the band gap to 2.2 eV (vs. 1.7 eV in AgGaSe2). The LDT value in AgLiGa2Se4 increases five times compared to that in AgGaSe2, while keeping a relatively large NLO susceptibility of 26 pm V−1. Moreover, the thermal expansion coefficients in AgLiGa2Se4 are approximately two times lower in absolute value compared with AgGaSe2, which is beneficial to the large crystal growth. All these advantages would make AgLiGa2Se4 a new promising NLO crystal for mid‐IR laser applications.

Аннотация: Single crystals of germanium double salt (NH4)3GeF7 = (NH4)2GeF6·NH4F = (NH4)3[GeF6]F were grown and studied by the methods of polarization optics and X-ray diffraction. The birefringence Δn = (no − ne), the rotation angle of the optical indicatrix ϕ(T) and unit cell parameters were measured in the temperature range 100–400 K. Three structural phase transitions were found at the temperatures: T1↓ = 279.2 K (T1↑ = 279.4 K), T2↑ = 270 K (T2↓ = 268.9 K), T3↓ = 218 K (T3↑ = 227 K). An unusual sequence of symmetry transformations with temperature change was established: P4/mbm (Z = 2) (G1) ↔ Pbam (Z = 4) (G2) ↔ P21/c (Z = 4) (G3) ↔ Pa (Z = 8) (G4). The crystal structures of different phases were determined. The experimental data were additionally interpreted by a group-theoretical analysis of the complete condensate of order parameters taking into account the critical and noncritical atomic displacements. Strengthening of the N–H⋯F hydrogen bonds can be a driving force of the observed phase transitions.

Аннотация: Red-light-emitting materials, as pivotal components of warm white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs), have drawn increasing public focus. Among these, Mn4+-doped red light-emitting fluorides have drawn considerable attention when combined with an InGaN chip; however, they suffer from poor water stability under humid conditions. In this work, a novel fluoride red phosphor, Cs30(Nb2O2F9)9(OH)3·H2O:xMn4+ (CNOFM), with good water resistance was synthesized for the first time using a facile co-precipitation method at ambient temperature. Experiments were implemented for the precise analysis of its crystal structure, optical properties, micro-morphology, thermal behavior, and waterproof properties. 6.66% Mn4+-doped CNOFM maintained a stable crystal structure and possessed strong PL intensity located at 633 nm with high color purity of 96%. CNOFM showed better thermal and waterproof stability compared with the commercial K2SiF6:Mn4+ red phosphor. Without any surface modifications, the PL intensity remained at about 83% of the initial value after immersion in water for 60 min, and the mechanism was investigated. Finally, a warm WLED with a CRI of 92.3 and CCT of 3271 K was fabricated using the CNOFM red phosphor.

Аннотация: Non-rare earth doped oxides with red emission are one of the current research hotspots for achieving the warm white light range in the phosphor converted white light emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs) field. In the current work, a novel Mn4+-activated La2CaHfO6 red phosphor is reported for the first time and its crystal structure is analyzed by Rietveld refinement. The photoluminescent properties of La2CaHfO6:Mn4+ are investigated in detail with the help of diffuse refletance spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and temperature-dependent PL spectroscopy. Based on the diffuse refletance spectra, the calculated optical band gap for La2CaHfO6 is 4.9 eV, indicating that La2CaHfO6 could be a suitable host for activators' doping. Under 380 nm near-ultraviolet (n-UV) light excitation, the as-prepared La2CaHfO6:Mn4+ displays intense red emission centered at 693 nm. Through an accurate calculation of Dq/B (2.47) and nephelauxetic effect β1 (0.949), the origination of strong crystal field (CF) and deep-red emission is demonstrated. By combining the representative La2CaHfO6:0.002Mn4+, blue BAM:Eu2+, and green (Ba,Sr)2SiO4:Eu2+ phosphors with a 380 nm UV chip to fabricate the pc-WLEDs device, a white light is obtained with low correlated color temperature (CCT = 5165 K) and high color rendering index (Ra = 87.8), demonstrating that the as-prepared La2CaHfO6:Mn4+ phosphors can be used as red-emitting candidate in pc-WLEDs lighting.

Аннотация: We’ve studied the B800 part of Rhodoblastus acidophilus light-harvesting complex (LH2) by several quantum chemical techniques based on the density functional theory (DFT) and determined the specific method and a minimal reliable model suitable for further studies of the LH2. In addition to bacteriochlorophyll a molecules, the minimal model includes two α and one β chain amino acids. Within the model, we are able to reproduce the contribution of the B800 ring of nine bacteriochlorophyll a molecules to the near infrared Qy absorption band. We also discuss the use of hybrid DFT calculations for precise energy and optical estimations and DFT-based tight binding (DFTB) method for the large-scale calculations. Crucial importance of Hartree-Fock exchange interaction for the correct description of B800 peak position was shown.

Аннотация: The current investigation deciphers aggregation pattern of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and lipid-treated AuNPs when subjected to aqueous sodium chloride solution with increasing ionic strengths (100–400 nM). AuNPs were synthesized using 0.29 mM chloroauric acid and by varying the concentrations of trisodium citrate (AuNP1 1.55 mM, AuNP2 3.1 mM) and silver nitrate (AuNP3 5.3 μM, AuNP4 10.6 μM) with characteristic LSPR peaks in the range of 525–533 nm. TEM analysis revealed AuNPs to be predominantly faceted nanocrystals with the average size of AuNP1 to be 35 ± 5 nm, AuNP2 15 ± 5 nm, AuNP3 30 ± 5 nm, and AuNP4 30 ± 5 nm and the zeta-average for AuNPs were calculated to be 31.23, 63.80, 26.08, and 28 nm respectively. Induced aggregation was observed within 10 s in all synthesized AuNPs while lipid-treated AuNP2 (AuNP2-L) was found to withstand ionic interferences at all concentration levels. However, lipid-treated AuNPs synthesized using silver nitrate and 1.55 mM trisodium citrate (AuNP3, AuNP4) showed much lower stability. The zeta potential values of lipid-treated AuNPs (AuNP1-L-1x/200, − 17.93 ± 1.02 mV; AuNP2-L-1x/200, − 21.63 ± 0.70; AuNP3-L-1x/200, − 14.54 ± 0.90; AuNP3-L-1x/200 − 13.77 ± 0.83) justified these observations. To summarize, AuNP1 and AuNP2 treated with lipid mixture 1 equals or above 1x/200 or 1x/1000 respectively showed strong resistance against ionic interferences (up to 400 mM NaCl). Use of lipid mixture 1 for obtaining highly stable AuNPs also provided functional arms of various lengths which can be used for covalent coupling.

Аннотация: A two-level system of data transmission in the optical range is considered between a low-orbit spacecraft located in a sun-synchronous orbit and a repeater satellite located in a geostationary orbit. This topic is rather relevant due to the fact that the rapid development of remote sensing satellites resulted in the increase of the amount of transmitted infor- mation, which in consequence introduced new requirements for communication systems. The increase of data transmission rate and severization of requirements for communication systems contributed to the development of one of the most promising areas of space communications, based on the information transmission via a laser channel, due to a high energy concentration and a much higher carrier frequency. The prospects for the application of optical communication systems are designated by lower power consumption, dimensional specifications and the mass of the transceiver equipment of the optical range (compared to radiofrequency range systems). The article describes the solution of application of optical communication link between a low-orbit spacecraft and a repeater satellite. The main factors that contribute to the attenuation in the process of signal propagation along the route are presented and analyzed. A model of a communication channel between a low-orbit spacecraft and a repeater satellite is provided for a visual image. Two different approaches of mutual guidance and tracking of laser terminals are described for using beacons and without ones. EDRS foreign system is considered as an analogue. The estimation of the main parameters of the communication link is given. The communication system considered in the article will allow for greater carrier capacity of the data transmission in the optical range between the low-orbit spacecraft and repeater satellite. The application of this system will allow solving problems, including in the interests of any departments and structures of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, for which the rate of obtaining information is one of the basic requirements for a satellite communication system. The tasks of precise targeting of receiving and transmitting devices arising as a result of narrow beam patterns can be solved with current technical means.
Рассмотрена двухуровневая система передачи данных оптического диапазона между низкоорбитальным космическим аппаратом (НКА), находящимся на солнечно-синхронной орбите, и спутником-ретранслятором (СР), находящимся на геостационарной орбите. Данная тема является весьма актуальной в связи с тем, что стремительное развитие спутников дистанционного зондирования земли привело к повышению объемов передаваемой информации, что в следствии привело к новым требованиям к системам связи. Увеличение скорости передачи данных, повышение требований к системам связи способствовало развитию одного из перспективных направлений космической связи, основанного на передаче информации по лазерному каналу благодаря высокой концентрации энергии и гораздо более высокой частоте несущей. Меньшее энергопотребление, габаритные размеры и масса приемопередающей аппаратуры оптического диапазона (по сравнению с системами радиодиапазона) определяют перспективы применения оптических систем связи. В статье описано решение использования между НКА и СР оптической линии связи. Приведены и проанализированы основные факторы, вносящие ослабление в процессе распространения сигнала на трассе. Приведена модель для наглядного отображения канала связи между НКА и СР. Описаны два разных подхода взаимного наведения и сопровождения лазерных терминалов с использованием маяков и без маяков. В качестве близкого аналога рассмотрена зарубежная система EDRS. Приведена оценка основных параметров линии связи. Рассмотренная в статье система связи сможет обеспечить большую пропускную способность при передаче данных в оптическом диапазоне между НКА и СР. Применение данной системы позволит решать задачи, в том числе в интересах любых ведомств и структур МО РФ, для которых скорость получения информации является одним из основных требований, предъявляемых к системе спутниковой связи. Задачи точного наведения приемных и передающих устройств, возникающие как следствие узких диаграмм направленности, можно решить современными техническими средствами.

Properties of the material, origin of domains, frequency doubling and autocorrelation measurements, conversion of supercontinuum to UV and continuously tunable VUV generation are described. Prospects of biphoton field generation in alpha-SBO are discussed.

Аннотация: We examine the spatial evolution of lightwaves in a nonlinear photonic crystal with a quadratic nonlinearity, when a second harmonic and a sum-frequency generation are simultaneously quasi-phase-matched. Аннотация: We develop a semiclassical method to determine the nonlinear dynamics of dissipative quantum optical systems in the limit of large number of photons N; it is based on the 1/N-expansion and the quantum-classical correspondence. The method is used to tackle two problems: the study of the dynamics of nonclassical state generation in higher order anharmonic dissipative oscillators and the establishment of the difference between the quantum and classical dynamics of the second-harmonic generation in a self-pulsing regime. In addressing the first problem, we obtain an explicit time dependence of the squeezing and the Fano factor for an arbitrary degree of anharmonism in the short-time approximation. For the second problem, we analytically find a characteristic time scale at which the quantum dynamics differs insignificantly from the classical one. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: We consider the process of resonant electron tunneling through a double-barrier potential, taking into account nonlinear dynamical effects generated by charge accumulation in the interbarrier space. We use the perturbation approach of Davydov and Ermakov, which was developed for investigating intrinsic bistability in resonant tunneling. For incoming electron flow, which is modulated slowly in time, we show that the resulting nonlinear dynamics can become chaotic, with the chaos described (because of the open nature of the system) by a strange attractor. We determine the conditions for the existence of this strange attractor and estimate characteristic experimental parameters for its observation.

Аннотация: The structure consisting of alternating uniaxial dielectric layers is known to produce reflection of the same polarization as the incident field; e.g., the right-hand elliptically polarized light preserves this right-handedness and ellipticity of polarization at reflection. The parameters permitting the properly-polarized reflectance to exceed 99% in a wide frequency range were considered both analytically and numerically. The mirror with tuned top-layer thickness is shown to have several times less polarization losses than the uniform mirror. The hybrid mirror with metallic bottom layer has a considerably reduced thickness.
