Аннотация: Cs//2CdI//4 crystals were grown from the melt (A) and from water solution (B). Optic, dielectric, X-ray, and calorimetric investigations were carried out. Crystal A shows three phase transitions at 332. 3, 259. 6, and 183. 4 K with the following sequence of phases: commensurate orthorhombic of beta -K//2SO//4 type ( alpha //0 equals 1. 074, b//0 equals 0. 8458, c equals 1. 4852 nm) B ARR LR incommensurate B ARR LR monoclinic ferroelastic (P2//1/n) B ARR LR triclinic ferroelastic (P1 OVER BAR ). The B-crystal belongs to monoclinic symmetry (P2//1/m) and undergoes transformation into the orthorhombic phase of beta -K//2SO//4 type at 420 K.

Аннотация: A symmetry of holes is investigated in the multielectron band theory which takes into account strong correlations. It is shown that a small number of d(z2) states appears near the Fermi level due to d(z2) Cu-2p(x(y))O charge transfer as admixture to d(x2-y2)-p(x(y)) bands with dominant contribution of O2p states. The results are in a qualitative agreement with polarized photoemission data.

Аннотация: Ceramic samples which exhibit a superconductivity with T(c) = 117 K have been synthesized in the Tl-Pb-Sr-Ca-Ba-Cu-O-F system. According to x-ray diffraction, the symmetry of the samples is cubic, with a lattice constant a = 6.04 angstrom. At room temperature the conductivity is of the n type.

Аннотация: Ceramic samples of the system Tl-Pb-Sr-Ca-Ba-Cu-O-F have been prepared by modification of standard Tl-based ceramics by BaF2. A cubic structure with parameter a = 6.04 A is found by powder X-ray analysis. Both electric and magnetic data reveal superconductivity with T(ci) = 117 K. Electron conductivity is found at T = 300 K.

Аннотация: Describes a method for determining the effective elastic constants of anisotropic rocks from the results of ultrasonic measurements of the phase velocity of elastic body waves with arbitrary directions of the wave normal in the absence of a priori information on the texture symmetry. The proposed method has been applied to the results of ultrasonic measurements of a twice-deformed gneiss sample from the Lodogian series of the Baltic Shield. Аннотация: Phase transition (PT) was found in Cs3Bi2I9 single crystal at T0=223 K. Optical birefringence, dielectric and elastic constants and differential scanning calorimetry have been studied. It was found that birefringence ?nc and twinning picture appeared on (001) - and (100) - plates below T0, as well as softening of elastic stiffness C44 above T0. Аннотация: Using an invariant-polarization ultrasound method, we have studied the velocities of elastic waves in the gneisses and amphibolites of the second rock mass of the Archean complex of the Kola superdeep borehole (7622-9456 m) and calculated the determinate components of acoustic tensor and elastic-constant tensor and their symmetry. The symmetry of the studied structures is shown to be rhombic and triclinic. The stereoprojections of mineral's crystallographic orientation and normals to microfractures are built by the data on the inversion of the azimuthal dependence of elastic constants.

Аннотация: The two-dimensional (2D) Heisenberg model with anisotropic exchange (Delta = 1 - J(x)/J(z)) and with negative next nearest neighbor exchange (J(2)) with S = 1/2 is investigated by using the quantum-mechanical Monte-Carlo method. The energy, magnetic moment at a site, heat capacity, and spin-spin correlation functions are calculated. The stability regions for Neel ordering of spins as well as the strip-phase and gapless quantum spin liquid are determined in the interval Delta/2 less than or equal to J(2)/ J(1)less than or equal to 1/(2 Delta). Аннотация: An X-ray study of three phase transitions (PTs) at 86, 78 and 72 K has been carried out for the trigonal modification of the Cs3Sb2I9 crystal (space group P-3m1, a = 8.460 Angstrom, c = 10.398 Angstrom). The T-c1 = 86 K PT preserves the trigonal symmetry and is associated with the doubling of the c-parameter. At T-c2 = 72 K a doubling of a and b is observed. An intermediate incommensurate phase with q(1) = 1/2c*, q(2) = (1/2 - delta)a* + 1/2c* has been detected in the temperature range of 78-72 K. The lock-in PT at 72 K has a first order character. Аннотация: A generalized method of conditional moments for computation of effective elastic constants of anisotropic rocks with spatially oriented microcracks is considered. The method involves an additional operation of averaging of known solution data for a modeled rock of orthorhombic structure with ellipsoidal microcracks whose semiaxes are oriented along the coordinate axes. The averaging is performed using the distribution function of rock microcrack orientations, which is expanded into a series in terms of generalized spherical functions. The expansion coefficients are determined by an experiment. In calculating the effective elastic constants of anisotropic rocks, there are no constraints on the concentration of microcracks. We have studied the parameters of azimuthal anisotropy of elastic-wave velocities in modeled amphibolites with ellipsoidal hornblende grains oriented along the coordinate axes and with three-planar and spatially oriented systems of microcracks. The obtained results agree with experimental data of ultrasonic determinations of elastic constants for amphibolite samples.

Аннотация: Single-crystal plates of different sections of the (NH4)(3)ScF6 crystal have been investigated by polarization-optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction over a wide temperature range, including the temperatures of two known phase transitions and the third transition found recently. It is established that the symmetry of phases changes in the following sequence: O-h(5) - Fm3m (Z = 4) ↔ C-2h(5) - P12(1)/n1 (Z = 2)↔ C-2h(3) -I12/m1 (Z = 16) ↔ C-i(1) - I (l) over bar (Z = 16). Аннотация: The effective Hamiltonian for a realistic multiband p-d model is developed. In the case of electron doping, the Hamiltonian coincides with that for the standard t-J model. For hole doping, the singlet-triplet t-J model takes place. (C) 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Аннотация: We consider the spontaneous creation of a dc voltage across a strongly coupled semiconductor superlattice subjected to THz radiation. We show that the dc voltage may be approximately proportional either to an integer or to a half-integer multiple of the frequency of the applied ac field, depending on the ratio of the characteristic scattering rates of conducting electrons. For the case of an ac field frequency less than the characteristic scattering rates, we demonstrate the generation of an unquantized dc voltage.
